How often have you checked, cleaned or serviced your spark plugs?
This is one component in the engine many people fail to pay attention. Spark plugs are important in optimum sengine performance.
Got an issue with your engine or you have been experiencing electrical issues? Get in here lets talk about possible solutions. cheesy

Currently having similar issue . My car vibrate towards the engine bay at low rpm especially when am applying break. Most of the time when I put on the AC. The vibration goes away at high speed. I just serviced the car and no code whatsoever. New plugs, throttle body cleaned, new fuel filter, no fuel pump problem, engine mounts in good shape. What could be the problem pls?
1999 toyota camry
So I just went through this again. There is also a possibility you are experiencing a misfire at lower RPM due to vacuum leak. Some vacuum lines might have been interchanged when the TB was being coupled back. Check your vacuum lines properly, try listen for a hissing noise this shpuld point to where the vacuum is leaking from.
If you dont find any, you will need to visit a competent tech.

I just replaced with a new recommended spark plugs and general tune up. I noticed the issue started as a result of cleaning throttle body
Sorry bro... the spark plug article is just a general stuff wasnt directed to you.
However can you kindly provide details of everything that was done asides cleaning the TB?
Secondly the plugs you got, how did you know they were the recommended? Did u check the spark plug gap, heat range and quality to be sure? Many new spark plugs out there are actually fake.
Also any Trouble code after scanning?

Will it still take time to for the ecu to adjust after cleaning this? The rough idea has reduced at low speed but still there. I have cleaned the idle control valve as suggested. Extremely smooth in Park and neutral, to the extent that I will think my engine is not running
If i get you correctly sir you say the rough idle is reduced. Bt its only evident under load not at idle.
At this point i will suggest you contact any competent autotech around your area to help diagnose the issue. Because there are a number of things that cause rough idle under load.
Weak ignition spark (soaked or damaged spark plug or coil), dirty injectors etc.

Change your Spark Plugs
If you notice that your engine is not working efficiently, then the reason probably is the spark plugs. If not checked if they wear out easily and will be covered in a buildup. Check and get them replaced if needed. They usually last for 30,000 miles; see the owner's manual for an accurate idea as it is specifically written for your car and gives better details.

Check your Battery
Cqheck your Battery
We all have had our car batteries run out when we need it the most. We all faced the situation where we are left stranded on the road in the middle of the nights with just the lights of our cell phones. It isn't a pretty situation, is it?

To avoid this never ignore your low battery sign and always get it checked regularly. Check for leakage or any mineral build up around it. Clean it with a battery cleaning brush and do this whenever necessary.

while

The Corolla is a saloon that does 8L/100km city and 6L/100km highway.

Nobody can decide for you,.you may want the Corolla badly but it may not be appropriate for your road network and passengers and luggage you intend to carry. Always factor other parameters before you make a choice

P0420 is a catalyst related and will.not cause any drivability issue. However, your car will be louder and tastier.Expect a. Marginal increase in fuel consumption
Not in all cases.
In addition to Autologics suggestion, sometyms a failed post cat o2 sensor can also throw d code of a failed catalyst... though rare. so before you replace anything kindly diagnose and ensure your O2 sensors are working properly then U can either
1. Remove the cat and use an o2 spacers for the 2nd o2 sensor (this is d cheaper option)
2. Replace the catalyst. Difficult getting a new one so obviously it will be used. (There is no guarantee how long it will last)
My suggestion is you go for the first option. In the mean time you can drive your car without any fear.

Entry level autos from the early 2000s up till 2006 should be the average auto tranny in the market.Anybody driving above that is a big boy in our Nigeria today. And of course, is less likely to be in a situation of "low on fuel. Do you drive fast or slow".
Hmmmmmmm... you have a point.

2. Inspect Fluids and Tire Pressure Regularly
Inspect Fluids and Tire Pressure Regularly
This is something, which you shouldn't ignore or delay at any cost. They are the main components of your car and also have a habit of wearing and running out too quickly. You should always pay extra attention to your tires and fluids. The task to check it takes about 10 minutes only.

All you need to do is open the engine when it's cooled down and detach the oil dipstick. Clean it thoroughly and put it back again. Now when you pull it, you will notice the oil stuck to it. This way you will know when to change the engine oil.

While doing this also check your power steering fluid level and also the hoses and belts for any signs of wear. After warming up your car check the transmission fluid level too.

Now for your tires, you can check the pressure by using a gauge and ensure that it has the correct pressure for all tires. Conduct this every other week for less wear to your tire.

For me? I say 2008 - 2010. And thats what i base my statement on.

In addition to ensure you carry out that test while the alternator is not loaded and when it is loaded. By loaded i mean turning your head lights on, radio on, ac on etc and see how much voltage your alternator produces. If its below or above spec replace as suggested.

You can as well do a pseudo style shift with an auto tyranny by taking your foot off the gas pedal for the gear to up shift before stepping on the gear again just to maintain the low rpm change.
Does that work everytime?

Yes, the other codes are particular to the power steering.

in changing the power steering, is it changing the whole steering with it's components or just the control module?

the technician gave me the option of changing it to a manual steering. is it something i can go for?
Changing the whole system is a waste of money. Changing the control module is also a case of throwing parts at the car.
U need an expert technician who knows his onions to diagnose that system for you.
Basically he needs to check the control module, the wiring to d control module and the PS motor, the connectors and the motor itself.....
At any of these points you could have an open circuit that has caused that motor open or short and current error codes.
Are U in Lagos? If yes why not contact autologic? He can help you get that issue resolved through careful diagnosis.

As for conversion to manual, they say its cheaper (wc i doubt anyway) but U will never enjoy that ride again. I have no idea how dey r going to fix the power steering pump to the engine, modify steering rack, and all the hoses.... hehehehe
Baba no think am.
Just try get a good replacement unit for wateva component is found to be faulty.

That is why manual is so good for this kind of exercise, you control the rev just below 2000 and above engine stall whilst manually upshifting as quickly as possible. With Auto somehow at some point along the revs and upshifting to gear 4, the auto tyranny computer will surpass that 2000 RPMs maybe up to 2500....it will as waste valuable gas time during the whole procedure thus wasting gas.
Some transmissions are created to shift at lower rev limits (economy) while some at higher rev limits (sports). In the end it all depends on manufacturer design.

Though truly the manual is a joy to drive, however your assertion only holds true for old auto transmissions. Newer transmissions have been created with the basic focus on saving fuel and giving more power. They are smarter and more effecient on transmitting engine power to the wheels. How did they achieve this?
Give the tranny its own control module, increase number of gears for the transmission, design the gears in the most effecient way possible, use specially formulated ATF that will allow you achieve best results and many other variables.

I have done that and it works fine. Pls I need to do a coolant flush. Like how many litters of a premixed coolant do I need and where to get one on lagos mainland? 1999/2000 toyota camry
Kindly contact autologic. Check his signature. He can help with the flushing and general engine diagnosis for an agreed fee.
Before changing to coolant also ensure your thermostat has not been removed if so replace. pressure test the cooling system for leakage and proper operation, ensure fan control is factory and not direct.
Hope the engine does not have a history of overheating?

The best way to save fuel is driving making use of deceleration mode of driving cos at deceleration ,ecu commands injector to cut supply of fuel .
For the non petrol heads can u kindly explain what the deceleration mode is?
Cuz i dnt kno how U can achieve that esp with an auto transmission where in the ECU controls gear change
