valid point about sharp midfield play but IMO i think ur 4mation has 2 many DM, me thinks play either mikel or seyi in holdin midfield role and draft kanu or obasi alongside kalu uche, rest of team pretty much picks it self

wow what a start by the Arsenal but like everybody has said we shouldn't get carried away by the scoreline. but an emphatic win like that over a top six side like everton(bad day notwithstanding) is nothing to sneeze at. overall gr8t team play, fingers crossed for rest of the season GUNNERS all the way baby. cool

RVP overrated? blasphemy! angry

RVP might have his injury issues but compared to Ade he works his ass off, good for deadballs, takes on oppostion defences more etc.

Don't get me wrong Ade was a good player for us but he is the kind of player who shines when things are going smoothly along. when things are going bad he does an invisible man impression. atleast with RVP he fights even if he doesn't score he creates anyways who are the good DM available now.

TV/Movies › Re: Spike Lee Blasts Nollywood by ayusco: 11:49am On Jul 09, 2009
spike lee has a right to complain about his films being bootlegged but what i don't agree with is the way he was patronizing. he wasn't even specific about which of his films were pirated. did he mean that producers here copied his scripts or that his films were being just plain pirated? if he meant the latter then nigeria is not the only guilty party. i mean we should we learn to call some of these stars to order not allow them misyarn any how cos they feel one is too dumb or insignificant to respond.

akinnaija:
sorry I had to continue no thanks to PHCN, juice finished on my other laptop, hence I conclude here @FBS , am glad you took time out to respond to my ignorantly typed text. I appreciate some of your point and I must say I learnt one or two things. Thank you. Now I must tell you that, you please understand my point, I only have one single motive in putting up this write up and if I have a national or broader platform to comment I do do the same, which is our artiste have got great power to set us free from the situation we are at the moment and they should think of the greater good of all as against the personal ambition. My point is that they should prick the hearts of the young to stand up for a better Naija not the one of frivolities. I am in Nigeria and in my early 30s , schooled in Unilag comfortable in Abuja. I know what am talking about. I was in Unilag when this whole entertainment revolution started when I was in Unilag, TA , Behind, Teju,IK, Eldee n co, etc were also on campus can you imagine if DJ Azeez sings a song dat informs his fans on the importance of education, he will gain much more than money and fame that ofokasibe begets, I have been to extensive northern corners of this nations and I see boys who can't even write or spell their names singing ofokasibe(funny though) but it shows you the power music has. Please muse the minds towards greater good, the power is in your hands now Naija artiste do what our fathers have failed to do for decades with this great instrument in your hands. Money and fame will fade but influence on lives will remain a legacy. Is any of you guys in Abuja, why don't we arrange an under the tree discussion where we look at issue objectively not on this forum where we try to flaunt our intellectual prowess. Thank you , remember, I am ignorant
@akinnaija i'v read your post and i understand where u are coming from but the point FBS is trying to make which i concur with is that u can't paint all modern naija hip-hop as being too commercial or lacking substance. From your write up u want our artists to be more responsible with their lyrics since they influence so many young people right? but like someone said these artists have to eat so their main objectives is to make commercially viable songs that may not necessarily be deep. i think u are shifting the crucial responsibility of training/raising our youth from parents, teachers etc unto that of our artist. if parents do their job more often than not no child would be influenced negatively by bad songs or controversial musician e.g i and a great number of my generation like fela's music do we all smoke igbo? no! and lets be honest alot of young people from generation to generation prefer music/songs that appeal to instant gratification e.g sex, money flashiness etc the difference being in the level of explicitness and unfortunately our generation has gone over the top in that aspect. in your previous post u highlighted 9ice's lyrics well as meaningless as they might seem u have to appreciate that an artist can't compose songs divorced from his psychological/emotional state. if u r feeling happy its unlikely u will write a sad song. so 9ice's lyrics might be materialistic and ghettoish but thats the point he is in his life right now. how long has he been in the hip-hop game? lets still give him the benefit of time. MJ that we are all paying tribute to sang some party tracks that didn't make much sense(thriller, bad, beat it) but with time got more socially conscious with his songs. if u listened to some of tupacs songs one would think he was only just a misogynist and gangster but listen to 'dear mama' and u'll realise this is a deep brother. so in conclusion i think naija hip-hop as imperfect as it is should be cut some slack. yes critize/correct CONSTRUCTIVELY and not just blame all of our youth problems on hip-hop.

my take on the game last night is that the SE just don't have quality midfielders just above average ones. if you watched the game carefully you would see that olofinjana, kalu & especially mikel really sucked the energy and dynamism that was desperately needed in the middle of the park. mikel in his current form is not what the national team needs. chidicris b4 u wax lyrical in defense of mikel i'm not talking about his attitude or ability but what he does for the SE in terms of play. like yesterday he slows our game down, puts r defense under constant pressure with his back passes not mentioning how he fails to make crucial passes at d rite time thus allowing the opposition to get back. truly unless we play him in a strictly defensive midfield role we won't miss his presence in the team. back to the game thot r defence was r best dept of the team adeleye & adefemi were massive yobo tried but had one of those odd goofs of his while taiwo again looked shaky defense wise but did try to aid the attack but seriously needs to up his defending. attack lacked sharpness when we needed the few chances created to be put away. hopefully the return of the yak, martins should help matters. in all yes we could have done better to win the game but 3 games r left so thiers still hope. we shld still keep the faith and back r team 110% whether we like it or not they r reppin us and as naija peeps we have to support them not with abuses, name calling e.g super chickens or negative pronouncements e.g france will beat nigeria 10-0 tunisia beats SE 3-0. i mean these guys r human and need understanding. put urselves in thier shoes how would u feel after putting in ur best into a project and u come up short and people start abusing u calling u failures who won't amount to much? terrible abi! so try not to psychologically damage thier morale thru ur comments all in the name of critisism. be constructive ok wink p.s lets continue to give amodu benefit of the doubt. i'm not a fan of his either but SE have under him played 9 competitive matches won 7 drawn 2 conceeded only one goal(own goal for that matter) stay blessed all peace one love

i still cant believe it happened, though i mentioned the Hiddink factor earlier on. hiddink is not the coach anyone would want to meet . whats more, some of our key players failed to show up. Gerrard should remember that none of the midfielders at Chelsea are better than he is.

though it now looks hard , but i think the players have everything to play for. we can score 4 unreplied goals at Chelsea( we can be that good). so they shouldn't allow this affect their home form. we can still catch the scummies.

JUST READING ABOUT LAMPARD'S RED CARD BEING RESCINDED IF I WERE MIKEL OBI I WOULD FEEL HARD DONE-BY. I MEAN LOOK @ SOME OF THE RED CARDS HE HAS RECEIVED.

1) THE CC ONE AGAINST ARSENAL YES HE & TOURE SHOVED EACH OTHER ABIT BUT WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE BRAWL. YELLOW? MAYB RED? DEF NOT!

2) SENDIN OFF AGAINST MAN-U @ OT LAST SEASON YES TACKLE WAS LATE BUT HIM & EVRA BOTH WENT FOR THE BALL. ALSO NOT AS IF STUDS WERE SHOWIN

COMPARED TO JOHN TERRY'S CLEAR SENDIN OFF AGAINST MAN-CITY BEING RESCINDED OR BOSINGWA'S CLEAR KICK TO SOMEONES BACKSIDE BEING IGNORED THINK SOME OF MIKELS FOUL ARE BEING JUGDED HARSHLY. ABI IS IT THE GOOD OL' SOME R MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS BIT? ONLY GOD KNOWS

I'M NOT HOLDIN BRIEF FOR MIKEL(NOT ONE OF MY FAV PLAYERS!) BUT THE ENGLISH SHLD TRY TO LOOK FAIR IN THEIR DEALINGS

guys yeah we lost but lets look @ the bigger picture wc is the national team. i think 4rm this group of players rabiu is the one that shld b fast-tracked into the super eagles. yes he's not the finished article but he has abilities most of our midfielders don't hav namely ball distribution, killer passes & decent dribbling. with time & good handlin he'll come good.

haruna lets be objective has potential but his attitude stinks rite now but if he gets himself together cld b great for the national team.

the rest need to improve themselves big time.

pple like salami 'michael jackson' & number 14 what's his name shld disappear sharp 4rm our football landscape
