Christianity Etc › Re: Advice For Paying Tithe Needed Urgently! by AZeD1(m): 9:50pm On Mar 25, 2012
What is the church? Is it the Building or the people?? If it's the people then children of the orphanage who were also made in God's image and likeness also constitute a church.

The bible tells us that Jesus paid his tax but no mention of Jesus paying Tithe
Mat 19-16
And behold one came and said unto him, Good master, what go thing shall i do that i may have eternal life?
19-21
Jesus said unto him if thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast and GIVE to the poor and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Nicklee: What bugs my mind is the definition of 'giving to God' in this context. How is giving tithe to the church equivalent to giving it to God? And if the answer is yes, then what constitutes a church? Is it when two or three gather in God's name? I have seen churches which are so few that 90% of the membership are the Pastor's family. At what point does a group of persons transform into a church and hence eligible for our tithes? Can I decide to make myself a church (ex. start fellowshiping with my family at home and collecting all the tithes)? At what point does a person (or pastor) become a custodian of the tithes to God?

My take is that New testament Christianity decentralized christian congregation and as such there is no one body that can claim ownership or absolute custodianship of collective contributions like tithes. We all are custodians and out primary responsibility is to our neighbors, needy people right next to us. This doesn't negate the need to give to the church but primarily, our responsibility is to our neighbors.

Also, there is little or no accountability for these sort of contributions. It is easy to assume that the average Nigerian pays about 10% tax to the government. As a result, we expect accountability from government, which we have never seen. Then there is another 10%, almost as much as government takes (atleast from christians) that churches collect and do not account for too. So, 20% of our income gone to unaccountable purses. The system needs some serious overhaul.
All those who say the OP must take his Tithe to the church should please explain the bolded....

Beaf puts up pictures of power stations owned by "lgs" in the uk but doesn't state that Lg's in Nigeria can't build power stations cos its against the law.
There are minerals in the north but they can't be mined cos only the FG is allowed to give mining license. So whenever people from the south south(me inclusive) claim people from the north are just feeding on their oil money, we should remember that a south south president has refused to develop the solid mineral sector of the north.

Staffs should have their own table(Staff_ ID, staff _name, staff_ address, staff_ home phone number, start_ date, tax_ file number,)
Jobs should have their own table(job_ code, job_ description)
Renumeration should have its own table(annually_ salary, hourly_ rate)
Project should have its own table(project_ contract number, project_ start date, contact_ phone number , project_ code, project_ name)
Skills should have its own table(skills_ code, skills_ description)

Can someone help me group the below attributes to 1NF,2NF and 3NF
Normalisation is a process of refining you database to get the optimal design. e.g what you posted can be called "1NF" what i posted can be called "2NF".

Hope i explained what i think is your question.

Stop trying so hard to sound like a sellout. Nigeria is the way it is partly due to Shell; in case you do not realise it, that company has ruled you since the day you were born. You are just a mere number in a Shell company file.
Luckily, GEJ did not to have come through their system and represents a genuine chance for our freedom.

You appear high on drugs. You head (which you have used to respond here) is drugs filled (Junkie). If you work in this sector (oil), you will UNDERSTAND that many of these IOCs try so much to minimise their landed investments e.g refineries and buildings in the Niger Delta and Nigeria in general. In future when the true story of Nigerian oil and its wahala is written up, you will see (if you are not doped) the true reason these coys do not want their assets located in the country where they make profit.
They are right in doing so. Today it is mend, tomorrow boko haram, next week, (insert any opc, bakassi). Until Nigeria as a country gets its act together, nobody will take us serious.

Thank you jare! half the people arguing for Shell like colonial slaves have probably never heard the phrase, "Corporate Civic Responsibility." Its something they can easily google.

The same Shell that has been uncompromisingly flaring gas for decades has suddenly changed tack to wnat to invest in gas instead, yet many of us don't see the greasy levels of hypocrisy and usery.

By some miracle, Shell has now even described gas flaring in Nigeria as "primitive!" Can you beat such a greed inspired about turn? Yet our people think it is ok for a company to behave like our country is a prost!tute, while having no responsibilities to the lands they have polluted and society they have corrupted ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/dec/08/wikileaks-cables-shell-nigeria-spying ).
Its just disgraceful.

Dude you can say all you want to say but the truth remains that as far as shell fufils its contractual obligations we can't complain. As for your comments on oando, thats still bulk passing. Companies exist to make profit. It is the government's place to enable laws that favour its citizens.
During the fuel subsidy strike, i asked if it was not possible for GEJ to just order all crude be refined in Nigeria and someone replied it was in the pib. This is march and GEJ and co(ministers and NA) are still pussy footing and you expect me to blame shell?

Nigeria is a capitalist country, not a communist one. Surely, you understand the difference?
It is for the likes of Oando who account for about 53% of subsidy payments to build refineries in a capitalist democracy like ours.

Lastly, we are on a ship thats inexorably headed for true federalism; so the govt cannot do any stup!d investments that are meant for the private sector. Such investments will only keep the current anti-people system in place.
Dude, ask Oando and its likes to build refineries, it is not the place for a capitalist democracy to do so (without a profit making vehicle); except it plans to remain heavily over- centralised. Common sense, bruv.

When NNPC is broken up in the future (bringing us yet closer to true federalism), you can ask the govt to build refineries. Right now, NNPC is no more than a wayward contraption that like Shell, has to be wrestled to the floor and given a black eye.
Is Brazil a communist country because Petrobras OWNS 11 refineries in Brasil and 4 outside brasil. So Mr Beaf can you give us another reason why the GEJ led FG cannot manage our four refineries properly?
NB: don't blame subsidy cos if the refineries were working the subsidy issue would not arise

If you wish to look out for the welfare of Europeans, I don't. The term for such, is low self-esteem.
I am only interested in Nigeria's interest. Which at this point is that oil major oil players in our land MUST build refineries to run a full chain from production to finished goods. If they cannot comply then they can stuff their custom and head for your beloved Europe.

Shell has sold ALL of its UK refineries, so has BP, and even Chevron is trying to sell its refineries in the UK as well, so what are you talking about?

Have you heard about the refining company called Petroplus in Europe that recently went bankrupt and almost had to close its refineries? Have you heard about the number of refinery closures in the US, especially on the East Coast?

Idle talk with no awareness of reality.

The people building refineries in India are largely Indian multinational companies like Essar Oil or Reliance, not foreign companies like Shell. Why can't we build our own refineries instead of waiting for Shell to do so for us? They are not interested in refining and should be free to decide what business they want to invest in.

If you feel Shell is not giving you the best terms, then negotiate with other IOCs that may be interested in building refineries and make that a requirement of their contracts.
Good bless you.

To understand what the shell ex boss was saying, you need to understand the petroleum market. Ignorant Nigerians and the criminal minded Nigerian(Deziani, NOI) are quick to point to the gsm market when other issues in Nigeria(Refinery, Power) are raised.
The oil market is a POLITICAL market so whoever tells you demand and supply will do x,y,z is either ignorant or deceiving you. Crude oil prices is driven by politicians and politics that's why the price rises and falls anyhow. Now if crude oil is selling at $20 a barrel today and tomorrow it is selling at $50 it means the price of p.m.s and other derivatives should automatically react to the changes in crude oil prices but Europe, the US, Asia and co have well developed transportation systems which means if p.m.s prices changes like that of crude oil, people abandon their cars and go with trains, hybrid cars. Demand for p.m.s will be low but crude oil prices are still rising how do you plan your company budget if you run a refinery?
To run a refinery anywhere, you need power, lots of power which is something we don't have so those that are saying kick shell out do you expect a company to build a refinery and still run on generators? You guys should better wake to your responsibility and hold your(our) governments responsible.
