There are some that knows what is going on in Aba. But they choose to continue lieing

At times I laughed at the display I see here on daily basis. I've travelled to all parts of Nigeria and can stand my ground and said that Abia is among the 1st ten best states in Nigeria. No matter the political blackmail, Abia is far better and more advanced than many states in the north, Southwest, and even southsouth and southeast.

There are many states in Nigeria you hardly see 5 to 7 storey buildings and dual carriage roads but uncountless in Abia. Most people on nairaland shouting Abia this and that have never travel beyond their state, they are acting based on what they read on media.

You really must be a paid sycophant to be saying all these trash. I was in secondary school in 1999 when Orji Uzor contested against Eze Ogbulafor. His deputy then Enyinaya Abaribe used to visit his friend who was our neighbor then.

Orji Uzor tarred some roads in "Town" area of Aba then, especially those roads off East Street and some others during his first tenure and people were hailing him action governor. Fast forward to his second tenure and he was nowhere to be found and all those roads went bad.

Sanitation problem did not start today, it was equally present then.

If he had ended his bad governance in 2007, it would have been bad enough but he went the extra mile of trying to become a godfather along with his mother.

The mother was living in Aba then and people had to go her house whether commissioners, contractors etc to seek her blessings. There was even a popular mantra then about "...igaala na nke mma Orji Uzor ga gbaa egwusi?..."

TA Orji was foisted on ndi Abia by Orji Uzor. TA was his chief of staff and he was picked up by EFCC for questioning during that time but Orji Uzor rigged him in.

Orji Uzor's 8 years and TA Orji's 8 years were the locust years that destroyed Abia.

I'm through with you.

Orji Uzor did nothing in Abia state. I was in Aba between 1999 and 2007, and his performance at best was mediocre. He also said the foundation for the bastardization of Abia since 1999.

Abia is today the most backward state in the SE in terms of infrastructure. Relatively newly created states like Ebonyi now has the kind of infrastructure Abia people can only dream of, and this shame could be traced to Orji Uzor for laying a very bad foundation.

You must be sick if you said so. Maybe you were a baby then.

Who planned and constructed Aguiyi ironsi/government layout in umuahia? Who dualised library road, akanu ibiam and mission-hill road in umuahia? Who built ehimini housing estate?

Who reconstructed portharcourt-enugu road? who asphalted all the township roads in Aba north and south? Who constructed Ekenna road and adjoining roads connecting Ekenna and Okigwe? Who tarred all the roads in old and new GRA Aba? Who constructed umule, Umuocham and some of the adjoining roads? Who reconstructed faulks road and Osusu road? Who constructed Owerri road and cemetery road. Who constructed MCC? Who reintroduced free education in Abia? Who upgraded Absu?

In overrail Aba, any tarred road apart of Osusu road, Okigwe road, Omuma road and faulks road were constructed by Orji Uzor kalu. If you were small then please go and ask question. Any strong Igbo man that has a presidential aspiration must be tarnished in the face of media like Rochas Okorocha after all the good work he has done. Take it or leave it, Orji Uzor nwa Kalu did very well in his first tenure before the face-off between him and Obasanjo. I heard Obasanjo stopped Abia allocation in order to frustrate him which I've not confirmed.

Orji Uzor kalu is innocent of most of the things people are saying about him, one bad about Nigerians is that when they heard that someone is a devil whether confirmed or not they will add voice to it. He is accused of embezzling 7billion naira for the whole 8yrs he ruled as a governor while some people that ruled just for one tenure and some 8 months embezzled more than 19billion naira. Run the analysis and give me result.

You were in Aba during his regime, ikukwara nkwu Orji Uzor? Do you receive his costomised maths set?

It has not been possible not because the state is lacking infrastructural development but because none of the indigenes care to do that. Abia is 50% better than most Nigerian state, politics aside.

Do you really need an online picture before you do what you intend to do? Travel to Aba yourself and get first hand information. Better still, there was a thread open by face on nairaland during Orji Uzor regime search for it. Whatever Umuahia, Abiriba and Igberre is today was Orji Uzor kalu. Travel to Abia and see for yourself leave media blackmail. I'm sure when you go there you can't believe yourself.

Orji uzor kalu owns that company that finished Aba

Which Orji Uzor kalu finished Aba, where you in Aba when he was the governor?

Every good thing in Abia is tagged Mbakwe handwork forgetting that Orji Uzor kalu did massive construction of roads in Abia state including the dilapidated ones did by Mbakwe. In his 1st tenure he did very well which earned him best governor for 2 consecutive times, everything slowed down when he started having problem with OBJ due to his 3rd bid agenda.

Before 1999 there was no good good in Aba except Umungasi road, some portions of Azikiwe road and Okigwe road, it was Orji Uzor kalu that reconstructed all the roads and constructed new ones. 70 percent of all the roads in Aba city center was constructed by Orji Uzor kalu, Mbakwe only planned the city center, did the gutters of most of the roads but did not tar them before military took over.

Orji Uzor kalu tarred all the roads even the ones in Umuahia. The major problem Orji Uzor kalu had then was poor drainage system and the ignorance of the people, they were comparing Abia state with the rich neighbours like Akwa ibom and Rivers states even till today not knowing that these states receive in a month what Abia receives in 8months.

Forget about image damage which has eaten deep into Orji Uzor kalu person. He was one of the best during his time. Don't argue with me just go and ask question and make enquiry from elderly people and people that were in Abia during the military regime. Mbakwe did very well in Aba but we did not see most of his roads we only heard starting from Omuma, Osusu, faulks, asa, factory, Clifford, Ngwa road, old express was totally washed away.

Will they be constructing new buildings in a different environment or are they going to convert Imo poly to a university of agriculture? I don't get it.

If it's new buildings, then I suggest he jettison that plan and work with what we already have on ground. Maybe use Eastern Palm University for that purpose, atleast it already has a name related to agriculture, lol. Although the best plan for this will be to use the Palm university as a campus for Imsu.

If Imopoly will be converted, then I TOTALLY AGREE, atimes I wonder what they do there in the first place.

As for the committee, you see that Prof. Awuzie, I believe he shouldn't even be allowed into any university even as a visitor. That man rendered education useless during his stay as VC in Imsu. He used the university as a testing ground for his Aluta struggle and students ended up spending 6/7 years for a 4 years course. He's got no conscience, walahi

They are reopening one of the higher institutions Rochas established but were closed down by Ihedioha.

The premises of Imopoly Umuagwo was converted to an agricultural University by Rochas administration while the Imopoly was moved to another location in Okigwe zone. So it is a good step going from a serious government. This single action has multipler effect, as they are taking Imopoly Umuagwo back to it initial University status the new poly built in Okigwe zone will definitely start operation and help to speed up development in that area.

I believe soon he will reopen the remaining higher institutions closed by gov. Ihedioha with no just reason.

Senate considers bill to tackle erosion in South-East
ON JUNE 10, 20206:18 AMIN NEWS

…As local content, National Transport Commission bills scale second reading

The Senate yesterday considered a bill to address the problem of erosion in the country, with special focus on the South-East.

The bill which scaled second reading seeks to establish the Erosion Control and Prevention Commission.

Sponsor of the bill, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah (YPP – Anambra South) in his lead debate on the bill, said the establishment of a commission for the purpose of erosion control and prevention had become imperative in view of the catastrophic impact of erosion in several parts of the country.

“Almost every part of this country is characterized by one environmental problem or the other but, however, the menace of erosion is unarguably the severest in terms of devastation and destruction; for instance, the 2012 flooding in Ibadan, Oyo State, the coastal erosion in Lagos, Bayelsa and Rivers States and almost all parts of Anambra State. It is also very important to note that gully erosion is almost taking over the entire landmass of the South East and South South.

“The problem of erosion is catastrophic in the southern part of Nigeria, while desertification is in the North, but with the enactment of the Green Wall Act by the National Assembly, the issue of desertification was laid to rest.

“In the southern part of the country, erosion is responsible for the widespread destruction of transportation and communication systems, degradation of arable land, contamination of water supply, isolation of settlements and migration of communities.

“From available statistics, more than 3,500 gullies occurred in the south east states alone. These gullies are formed by surface runoff from localized rainfall event of high intensity in the fine-to coarse-grained sand and sandstones,” Ubah said.

Citing a World bank survey carried out on Nigeria in 1990, the lawmaker stressed that “erosion is one of the three main environmental problems facing Nigeria.”

According to him, the study noted that “gully erosion causes damage with an annual cost to the nation estimated at N800 billion naira.”

Senator Ajayi Boroffice (APC – Ondo North), in his contribution , however kicked against the establishment of a commission for the purpose of erosion control in the South East.

According to the lawmaker who is the Deputy Senate Leader, an amendment to the Ecological Fund to accommodate the erosion problems in the South East would address all challenges faced by the region.

Senator Rochas Okorocha (APC – Imo West), while throwing his weight behind the bill said the commission when established, would not only address the erosion challenges faced by the South East, but also every other part of the country affected adversely by such environmental challenge.

Senator Ibrahim Gobir (APC – Sokoto East), argued that “creating a commission will be a burden on government”, particularly at a time that it is trying to cut down costs.

He, therefore, advocated for the adoption of preventive measures through the introduction of legislation by the National Assembly.

In his remarks on the bill, President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, said, “the debate tended to sway whether we need a commission or not, but the fact is, we have to address the ecological challenges we have in the country.

“If we have gully erosion that is destroying the lands in various parts of the country, especially in the south east, then we have to do something, whether it is a Commission or not. I believe that there are other ecological challenges in other parts of the country.

“Coastal erosion is also a strong challenge in the Nigerian coastal environment, just as desertification is a big problem in the northern part of the country.

“I want to say that the Green Wall project actually is not desertification control. It is simply afforestation. Desertification control should be much more comprehensive than that.

“Similarly, when we have gully erosion, it is just not about stopping the erosion, there are other things that need to be done beyond stopping it because communities’ livelihoods are affected. So, you need to have something comprehensive.”

Stakeholders back Uzodimma on new Imo University of Agric
by Gabriel Ogunjobi
Our Reporter

Stakeholders from Umuagwo in Imo State, have lent their support to Governor Hope Uzodinma’s plan to establish a new Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences on their land.

The stakeholders had hitherto vehemently battled with past administrations against the establishment of the university because of the provision of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) and multi campus arrangement in the law establishing the university.

The stakeholders said they believed that the PPP provision was a ploy by a former governor to take over the university after leaving office, insisting that it must be 100 percent owned by the government.

The spokesman , Goddy Obodo, told newsmen yesterday at the Government House, Owerri, after the inauguration of the committee on the implementation of the university, that their fears were assuaged when Governor Uzodimma amended the law and removed the PPP clause

Uzodimma on Friday set up a committee on the guidelines for the implementation of the take-off of the new Imo University located in Umuagwo. Ohaji-Egbema with Prof. Ukachuwku Awuzie, former Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University and former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), as the Chairman.

BREAKING!!! President Buhari Petitions International Community Over IPOB & Biafra

By Wisdom Nwedene

President Muhammadu Buhari has petitioned the International Community over the activities of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB and Biafra campaigns.

In a statement made available to IGBERE TV on Sunday by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President Media & Publicity, said a very deep and wide investigation by an agency of the Nigerian government, working with international partners have made them to become aware that there are two, interconnected campaigns being run concurrently by the IPOB.

According to the statement, "both are using the cover of Christianity – and calling for a US Special Envoy to be appointed to stop the “genocide” of Christians in Nigeria. But the real purpose is to drive a wedge between the Nigeria government and its US and UK/European allies."

He advised the International community to ignore this campaign as" they have disregarded similar past campaigns originated by this group which has been designated as a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian State."

The statement reads ;

"The Presidency wishes to draw the attention of all citizens and the international community to a most misleading campaign spearheaded by the so-called Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) using false allegations of persecution of Christians against the Nigerian State."

"A very deep and wide investigation by an agency of the Nigerian government, working with international partners have made us become aware that there are two, interconnected campaigns being run concurrently by the IPOB in this regard."

"Both are using the cover of Christianity – and calling for a US Special Envoy to be appointed to stop the “genocide” of Christians in Nigeria. But the real purpose is to drive a wedge between the Nigeria government and its US and UK/European allies."

"IPOB leadership of course self-proclaims as “Jewish,” a position not shared by the generality of the members."

"For reasons of convenience, he claims to have an interest in the welfare of Christians – but this is a ruse: the case for independence, the leader believes, is strengthened by “proving” the government of Nigeria is “autocratic”, engaged in a “silent slaughter” of their own citizens along religion and ethnic lines – and that therefore the only viable option for the unique religious and ethnic minority is a sovereign Biafra separate from Nigeria."

"Nigerians and the international community are advised to be wary of this divisive campaign, which available evidence shows is being funded with a monthly spending of $85,000 USD since October 2019, with no records of the source of this largesse."

"The campaign consists of producing articles in the names of the alleged Christian NGOs’ leaders (of campaign groups created at the time this PR contract with a US lobbying firm was signed) and letters to and from members of Congress to the White House."

"Unfortunately, some Members of Congress have clearly been persuaded there is indeed a “Christian persecution” underway in Nigeria – and do so quoting the campaign – and they are known to be taking up the case directly with the White House to appoint the special envoy."

"The American charity secured a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and has made presentations to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom."

"There is also a UK and European angle of the Campaign, which is more opaque than its US sister campaign – given there is less legal requirement for public filings – but what is known of this at the moment is that their Budget is sufficient to hire four PR firms in the UK, Belgium, France and the US (the latter additional to the above)."

"They have founded an “NGO/Charity” and a linked web-based campaign named “Stop the Silent Slaughter” which is well designed and complete with video “evidence”-completely concocted."

"Members of the alleged Christian NGO have had multiple Op-Ed articles in conservative news websites promulgating their message of a “Christian Genocide”. Some of those articles have also been used as “evidence” in the sister US campaign."

"Two of those conservative news websites were co-founded by the owner of the UK PR firm they have hired to generate their publicity as well as an OP-Ed article in the name of a British MP who may have been convinced by their campaign under false pretences."

" They have secured additional coverage in France, EU and Germany."

"They secured a MPs debate on the “Christian Genocide” in the House of Commons in which staff member of the UK PR was referenced as the “private secretary” to the leader of the UK-based Charity."

"It is clear from all of the above that the IPOB’s extraordinarily and dubiously well-funded campaign in the US and UK/Europe is misusing the issue of the welfare of Christians purely to further their own political ends, and it seeks to damage inter-religious dialogue in Nigeria as well as to damage the international reputation of Nigeria."

"Nigerians and the international community are hereby advised to ignore this campaign as they have disregarded similar past campaigns originated by this group which has been designated as a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian State."

"International groups and societies are welcome to send representatives to Nigeria and give a lie to the false claims made by these terrorist groups who are duping them of their money and involving them in conduct and activities disguised to destroy the harmonious relationships existing between their home countries and Nigeria."

Red Alert!!!

Villages between Nsukka - Enugu are in severe danger of being attacked and massacred!

More than 60 new Fulani herdsmen settlement have been counted clearly via satellite imagery. Go to your google earth now and see these exploding herdsmen territory for yourself in these areas identified with yellow thumbnails!

Governor Ugwuanyi should be made aware of these growing new illegal settlements on people's farms and places mapped out for building residential estates. Why can't these people join the other legitimate Fulani livestock dealers in the designated cattle markets etc, instead of hiding in people's farms in the bush and building new permanent Fulani villages in people's farms? What is their true intention?
Is this their RUGA through the back door and unannounced on TV, while they quietly annex people's villages under the pretext of being nomadic herdsmen? Meanwhile, they are building new permanent structures on people's land!

You can clearly see the herdsmen are now building permanent structures illegally on people's farms and forcefully occupying them. There is every intention for a bloody conflict with the villagers now that Miyetti Allah plans to even arm them more than they already are.

The National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Abdullahi Bodejo has openly boasted that the Fulani ethnic group own Nigeria and will rule it forever in an interview with the Sun.

In the usual power-drunk tirade that comes from the organisation on a regular basis, the President of the Herdsmen association also revealed that plans had been concluded to flag off a Miyetti Allah vigilante group with 100,000 members which will be deployed to every state in Nigeria.

Bello Abdullahi said the Fulani did not need permission to settle in any part of Nigeria because they own it.

He said further that unlike the Amotekun outfit that needed the backing of the law to function, their own security outfit does not need the backing of the law.

My organization, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, we are trying to set up our own security outfit.

“We are considering starting with 5000 personnel. While their own is Amotekun, our own name shall be unveiled soon. We have not decided on its name, maybe, it may be called, Miyetti Allah Vigilante.”

He said the outfit has not been launched yet because of social distancing restrictions put in place by the Federal Government due to the coronavirus even though “the Fulani cannot by affected by the virus.”

“We are meeting, anytime from now, we make our plans public. We will first start with 5,000 personnel.“It is going to be across the country because there is no any angle you cannot find the Fulani in this country.”

“It is going to be across the country because there is no any angle you cannot find the Fulani in this country.”

Interestingly, he said the new outfit will only use sticks instead of guns as weapons to fight cattle rustlers and bandits.

“Fulani has the rights “to go and settle in any bush in this country without asking anybody for permission.”

“It is not against the law in this country. Who would they go to take permission from, is it the animals in the bush?”

He said nobody can drive the Fulani away because they produced Nigeria.

“They produced the first prime minister. If they produced the first president, another president, another president and so on, are they not the owner of the country?

“Fulani are ruling Nigeria and they must continue to rule the country forever. That is the truth.”

To continue their criminal enterprise with impunity they have invested in a vast propaganda machine that believe they can alter reality and pretend that Aba and Abia State is better than it is and deceive people. All while Abia sinks below Zamfara, and the worst Northern states in Nigeria.

What they don't know is that not only can the criminal enterprise not last forever, it is a completely wasted effort that is destroying the most talented and promising city in the east.

Igbo intellectuals and rich industrialists who used to live in Aba now all live in Lagos. Igbo land is desolate. Our language and culture is being lost and our people are dispersed all around the world.

All so some criminals can keep enjoying the loot that they did not work for

An imposter, we've heard. It's ok, now can you face your side? Leave bureaucracy and media blackmail. Abia is still better than most states in Nigeria especially Southwest.

so I guess that the owners of shell, innergalaxy steel mills, marketsquare, Genesis cinema and a whole lot of others (including the fg) are fools because they have invested massively in Aba since last year and 2020 ?. The other companies like geepee, Pz, Seven-Up, NB, Afribev, Glassforce, Vitafoam and many others are not reasonable for still operating in Aba?.
Apart from the ph road axis, I can comfortably say that no section in as is as dilapidated as you seem to think, it isn't propaganda since these year, I know how many pics of road construction in and has graced these thread, but some of you choose to glose over it.
To put all these to bed, choose a weekend to come over to aba and check out things for yourself then post pics on these thread.
Saying all the spoilt roads in aba metropolitan area can be done in a year is simply a fallacy

I love this
