The saddest part is the fact that ibo people have no sense of right and wrong, the tribe comes first is a dangerous mentality and that's what's killing them. They will defend hitler to death if he was ibo.

That's why I don't and never count on them to give sane, reasonable and just judgment on anything.

Tribe and emotions is their weakness,

Chief Obafemi Awolowo, 49, of the powerful Yoruba tribe, dedicated, teetotaling Prime Minister of the Western Region of Nigeria who began as a barrister, has gradually emerged as a statesman of integrity in a land where charges of corruption are the political order of the day.

Nigeria's other regional Prime Minister, the demagogic, U.S.-educated Nnamdi ["Zik"] Azikiwe of the Ibo tribe to the east, lives under a cloud as a result of a financial scandal in his administration.

they will develop a communique which would not be utilized and it would have just been another ceremony designed to make money for some priviledged friends of the governor while a lot of lagosians suffer for want of food, good roads etc.

He doesn't need to be president of this contraption called Nigeria - that is how Awo's political genius was ruined. You know what they say, if you don't want fleas don't sleep with dogs.

For any state or region of this country called Nigeria that has ears I have advocated a slow, but sure, solution to resolving the Nigerian logjam - virtual autonomy. That is what you are actually alluding to about Lagos. If we can get all states in the Southwest to realize a common interest, and follow the performance of Fashola, while Lagos ensures smooth, meritorious succession after another 4 years then the Southwest would achieve virtual autonomy.

In fact, I make bold to say that the core North of Nigeria has a form of virtual autonomy within Nigeria, but it is only political, not developmental.

Real virtual autonomy has to be all encompassing, so Lagos still has ways to go. Forward ever, with eyes open.
I solidly agree with every word in your post. I know the SW west inching towards full scale autonomy and total unification like the old western region. It's not a secrete that Nigeria as a country is really not in the best inerest of every region in Nigeria. Nigeria is just an avenue for people to loot resources and hold people back.

We functioned and developed way way better back in the days of the old western region, in fact we've lost most of our gains. We prospered and build a lot of first in Nigeria and Africa infrastructures without oil money and we were ruled with nothing but good ideals, vision and unadulterated regional patriotism.

Good to know the western folks are getting together regardless of their political affiliations to get back to basics and look out for their people's interests.

I read somewhere about a super highway and rail system to link together all the states in the SW and promote rapid development and economic growth.

Right now, Nigeria as a country doesn't interest me in any way.

Why we ‘re hosting Kuramo Conference – Fashola
News Oct 27, 2010

By Daniel Eteghe

Lagos State Gover-nor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), has said the decision of the state government to host the forthcoming Kuramo Conference was to give Africa a voice in global decision making.

He also said the state would be in the vanguard of promoting Africa’s voice in the world by making pragmatic decisions and regulations to effectively represent Africa on the global scene.

Speaking to aviation correspondents at the presidential wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport Lagos, Tuesday night, Fashola said the state would no longer fold its arms and allow laws made by people in other parts of the world dictate Africans’ decisions, norms and mores.

Fashola said: “Kuramo Conference is a composition of the best brains to begin to lead Africa’s voice. It is not about Lagos, it is focused on leading Africa’s voice.

“I think, and I’m certain in my report, that we have some of the best intellectuals here. But the truth is that in the global comity of nations, when important decisions are to be taken decisions are taken about how to re-regulate, where is Africa being represented?”

“Many of the regulations that we apply today for international banking, foreign exchange, bills of laden, concept of human rights protection were device of about 70 years ago by the Europeans; we didn’t have a say in it.”

My friend, I probably like Fashola more than you do but he lied by saying he don't have a God Father.Tinubu single handedly make him the AC gubernatorial candidate, causing a lot of disagreement among AC supporters.Ask the former deputy governor Femi Pedro he will enlighten better.
And like I asked before, is this going to prevent Fashola from commissioning  another road, another school another bridge, another transformer factory, another water work, another hospital?

My point is, this is really irrelevant. We have a good governor and I thank Tinubu for picking Fashola, for his foresight and judgment, the consequence of the same single handed decision is the good governance we are enjoying now and also the bright future we are looking forward to.

There's always going to be disagreement in politics, but Tinubu made the right call and the state is reaping the benefit of his actions.

Yes, the real owners are richer than Dangote because I wonder which Nigerian or foreigner who will spend $40M on a project like that only to abandon it entirely. The deal has NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT written all over it. No matter how much Fashola and his cronies deny it, that deal was a fraudulent buy and they are stuck with it. N4.5b Sunburn Yatch: Court Restrains Lagos From Moving Vessel – Daily Independent

October 20, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi

A Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained the state government and Multi-Purpose Infrastructural Development Company (MIDC) from moving the vessel containing the Sunburn Yatch Hotel out of Lagos pending the determination of a suit filed by Loneseed Nigeria.

Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako made the order while ruling on an experte application brought by Loneseed, which sued the Attorney General and Justice Commissioner, Supo Sasore Tourism Commissioner, Tokunbo Afikuyomi and MIDC alleging breach of agreement on the N4.5 billion Yacht Hotel deal.

Loneseed averred that Diamond Capital and Financial Markets Limited (a subsidiary of Diamond Bank) acquired 99.9 per cent of its shares to buy Yatch Hotel, and that Ugo Otuonye owns the remaining one per cent.

According to the plaintiff, sometime in 2007, MIDC approached Diamond Bank to fund the acquisition of the floating hotel, and the initial concept was that MIDC would work with the state government to participate in the project by contributing equity in the form of infrastructure and land.

It is a little surprising he didn't call Emeagwali's detractors ignorant and illiterates even when there were no clear cut reasons to call him a fraud. Yes, there are no reasons to believe that Fashola has a God father apart from speculation but calling others illiterates when they think otherwise is unbecoming of you.

This bully tactic-politics gotta stop in Nigeria. Fashola hired these goons to troll websites in his defense and BabaPussie is rather doing his own unprofessionally. If BabaPussie can get this irritated online, he wouldn't hesitate to assassinate any detractor in real life on Fashola's behalf. You wonder why we have political assassinations in Nigeria?. the guy has made his comment but you all interpret it the way you like. even in advanced democracies, politician have mentors , nothing strange about it but a mentor should know his limit, when he begins to interfere with the smooth running of government, then he should be whipped into line which in Lagos State is obviously not the case.

A mentor simply put is a person one emulate and desire to follow in his footsteps in terms of value sysyem and ideology. to equate godfatherism with mentoring misses the point but because we like to believe what we have predetermined in our heart, we convienently adopt our pre-disposition. Fashola is doing well, no doubt that. To say that Lagos receives more is begging more. What has Bayelsa, delta, Akwa Ibom and all the oil producing state done with their huge allocation including 13% derivation in the last 12 years.
Very well said. Too bad many of the posters in this thread are known ignorants and illiterates, they read, reason and think from under their feet.
