robobo: But Oando own all these related parties either directly or indirectly. In most (if not all) the companies Oando own 100% so what debt is being settled with shares? are these so called debt not suppose to be intercompany which is in and out and of no effect upon consolidation
Ojt don come with mago mago again Maybe not mago mago but giving something back to long suffering shareholders. As he cannot deliver dividends right now he wants to share some other guddies perhaps |

Omooloriredade: Q3 is coming up. Hopefully we see the NAOC acquisition effect in full force. I believe this is the market expectation. Deal completed within the quarter, so it should be included.
I'm not sure why a lot here were waiting so eagerly for the audited 2023 results. Were they expecting a marked improvement from the unaudited one?
The good thing is that audited 2023, Q1 and Q2 have been released and they were .......erm! The market sent the price from N90 to N60. N55 to N60 seems to be a floor until the next FA event (the release of Q3 result). IF the NAOC acquisition reflects positively, I am (as do many here) inclined to think the SP will go on a run. Ah! I don't know o. Could Aradel drop today be related to an entity dropping Aradel to enter Oando. Maybe unrelated. |

mikeapollo: The inflation rate is a key factor that affects interest rate. Currently, I think inflation rate is higher than interest rate, so the citizens are still ''subsidizing'' the govt. so to speak. Interest rate will continue to rise for as long as the rate of inflation is still higher. I read an article that concludes excessive interest rate in two digits is a scam. And I agree with the thinking. Perhaps soon a bold economist will postulate the max range for effective monetary policy rate. Beyond which other controls will be needed. Excessive inflation is often associated with excessive government creation of money from thin air for government to spend instead of cutting expenses to income. Thereby robbing those that have saved money in that currency. |

chimex38: you may be right. Last I remember, around 2012-2013, it was about ₦500 or less per 1BTC. still not easy to get 1million.
But now you can't easily afford 0.5BTC not to talk of 1BTC. You mean it was as cheap as N500 in 2012-13. Some will really be very very rich in it by now |

Zagee: https://businessday.ng/pro/article/investors-park-cash-in-t-bills-over-real-economy/
This headline makes me wonder: "are the FG equally reinvesting the coup on another monetary investment?", cuz where's the workings on ground Excessive interest rate is simply a ponzi that helps no government / economy. I think in economics there needs to be a cap on interest rate beyond which it self destructs the economy. I think anything above 20% is in the destructive range for monetary policy . Ideally it shouldn’t exceed single digit. Once 9% is reached other restrictive policies are needed. But current CBN governor calls that unorthodox polices |

N5 billion already changed hands today and the price has been dragged down to N25. Making taking the rights no more attractive / possible for sell to take. KarlTom: DIV payment won't prove the bolded as much as a massive reduction in outstanding loans and borrowings...
My bet is on 2025 for DIV True. Massive reduction in outstanding loans especially the relatively more expensive ones is better than dividend payments . As it will make them grow eps faster and come out of negative equity faster. |

Whether retail pick it up or the deep pockets i think it shouldn't matter. They are all being pulled off. Fat cats will just get unduly fatter in the process as they are buying and diluting heavy volumes of the shares at great discounts. |

peperempe: Uncle T and his gang know what they are doing. Don't forget that he said he will use all his interim dividend to buy the RI. In my opinion, he and his gang would wish small shareholders don't claim their rights so that he and his gang can accumulate more. The capital raise is a forced one by CBN. I hail uncle T. He has safeguarded shareholders from undue dilution from a low priced offer as best as he can. |

yMcy56: I think the N35 price for RI is a little bit high.... I was expecting something like btw 25 and 28, this way he would have easily achieve the target.... Defending is an uphill task.
All the fund they're now using to defend the share price could have gone into the recapitalization itself. They sure know what's there for the bank anyway.... Current book value per share for UBA has already crossed N100 per share. The N35 rights price is about a third of book value per share - a give away price as a result of the way shareholders selling shares anyhow not knowing its value. Deep pockets will just grab whatever rights are not taken. More bullion vans are needed by MM to push the market price above N35. Disclosure: I am bullish on UBA. Loaded more in the last six months at N23 |
