Ekundayo7574: If Obi a man without a single effcc case should be in jail, where should Tinubu be? |

Perfectbeing: It's these type of facades I'm talking about. There's no such thing as free education. Countries in Europe, their governments pump billions of Euros from tax collected into education. Even in USA, students run into debt just to get educated. If your kids' school was free in Nigeria, you'd not send them there. Besides, in my opinion, it's also a strategic incentive to make students work harder knowing it's coming from their parents' pocket directly and I think it yielded results. In conclusion, Obi just strikes us as someone who is willing to work for us all and we need that. |

Perfectbeing: It is not rubbish, it's your country's economic history and it's in a book. I totally understand where you're coming from, you also want the best for our country like I do but if you're not careful, you'll miss it! Concerning Tinubu, Eko Atlantic is a very laudable initiative but it still doesn’t do anything for you and I. It only puts more money in the govt pocket but that revenue needs to go into quality schools, important infrastructure, affordable housing, into us! I hope you understand what I’m driving at. Concerning free education? It’s a facade. You dare not take your own kids to public schools. You don’t even know how much good education cost in the west. Infrastructure is lacking heavily for a population of 20m. Have you seen the wait time at the BRT? It’s insanity. There is no reason why we shouldn’t already be using rail like Addis Ababa of 5m population and even lesser revenue. It takes only 7 years to complete even complicated subway systems in saner cities. Concerning Tinubu's IGR? Lollll!! No city in the world uses IGR to brag. It’s mostly just tax! Let me explain what Tinubu’s IGR meant. He increased tax on individuals and private companies which are mostly foreign companies. In turn, these companies simply increased the cost of their services and products they were offering poor Lagosians. These meant Lagosians had to work harder which reduces HDI, BUT this is not a bad initiative, ONLY IF the proceeds of the tax is used to increase the standard of living of the proletariat which Tinubu did not do as seen in the HDI, in our lives. If you really want to see Lagosians' standard of living for what it is, quit looking at the flashy things like the G Wagonz of oil companies CEOs in Lekki/VI or the things you strived to acquire yourself and then look at how LASG has helped you protect these things. |

Perfectbeing: I see. The economic development you see in Lagos today is as result of a something called OPPRESSIVE CAPITALISM that was kickstarted in Lagos when Nigeria was a colony. The same reason why Europeans chose to exploit Nigeria through Lagos, is the same reason why foreign investment troop into Lagos; it’s strategic location - which has now given it economic history. And this has nothing to do with the governors. Whatever development you see in Lagos is private. For the government, one of the tools in which we can measure government performance is HDI. The tax from the private sector/foreign investment can be used to improve human development through life expectancy, standard of living and education. If you live in Lagos, you’d know that all of these are terrible. Life expectancy is 61 years(difficulty in transport, traffic gridlocks, insecurity etc), standard of living of the proletariat is low(no housing, no water), the sch system is so bad, public sch teachers don’t send their own kids to public schools. Concerning healthcare, Tinubu still flies out for basic check up. What Tinubu knows how to do best is find the loopholes in govt. If Abia, Zamfara or Benue was in that location, they would be the Lagos of today irrespective of the governor. In conclusion, using HDI, there are definitely worse governors than Lagos state governors but you must be able to measure the ratio of the state’s history, factors of production, strategic location which all defines their ability to create revenue and then the revenue to the HDI. Lagos revenue is not matching human development at all. Don't get me started on Tinubu's corruption allegations because I suspect it is the cause of the redundancies in human development in Lagos. |

tctrills: This made me look up information on Addis Ababa light rail and apparently, they're in huge debt. I'm really shocked! They owe almost $500m to China export-import bank and they've only managed to make a profit of $12m at a running cost of $120m. I can't even begin to imagine how much Lagos owes for the light rail because I'm pretty sure they've exceeded what they planned out in their feasibility study with inflation and all of that. I think I understand. This shows that you cannot buy everything, sometimes you have to figure it out yourself. It's just like a man who wants a wheel barrow to fetch clay to build a house. He goes to his neighbour's home who owns unlimited wheel barrows to buy one but the neighbour says the wheel barrow will cost him his house. He agrees to it and acquires the wheel barrow and completes his house and celebrates. But the neighbour steps in to take his house. Now his neighbour has unlimited wheel barrows and two houses while the man has just a wheel barrow and no house. He can't sleep inside a wheel barrow nau lol na mumu be that. What he could have done is learn HOW TO BUILD his own wheel barrow. |

Perfectbeing: You can see CONSCIOUS EFFORTS by Peter Obi in Anambra geared towards bettering the lives of the people of Anambra through HDI. I do think there are several aspects he could have done better as governor but overall, he's still the best candidate by a large margin. Who do you think is the best candidate and why? |

anonimi: I read a book that said Europeans owe us Africans a duty to spend as much billions of dollars as they spent for colonization in reeducating Africans but you and I know that's not gonna happen since the regression of Africa will always be of great advantage to Europeans. Instead of them to sell awareness, they're selling guns to us. I was part of the Endsars Movement and I'm an active member of Movement Of The People which was reignited by Seun Kuti. You should join the MOP. You can find them on Instagram and they'll tell you how you can help create awareness. I also take my time to educate people here on NL, even though it's a lot of work. 2 Likes 1 Share |

anonimi: Revolution is not a financial fight, it happens when it happens. When a certain level of the populace reaches a certain level of education, awareness which in turn makes you angry/frustrated, a revolution will begin. Teaching people to unlearn and then relearn what is right helps to quickens the process of revolution but experiencing hardship also does the job. An example is the fight for our independence in Africa that came as a result of the Europeans becoming lazy and educating African workers to take higher positions in industry so the Europeans don't even have to work at all...it's literally in the book. Edited another recent example is the endsars movement. Who told you the corrupted political class are from the masses? Who from the starving proletariat can pay 100m presidential ticket? And if you're talking about the bourgeoisie, they're all capitalists who are scholars of oppressive capitalism. They work hand in hand with the political class. Also in the book. 1 Like |

anonimi: It shows that you didn't read that book thoroughly and you also didn't read my post. I mentioned the solution in that post. The solution is that we can't choose from the corrupted political class to rule us, we the masses have to revolt so we can take power from them We have to organise and revolt. |

anonimi: Unlike these countries you mentioned, Europeans didn't spend years and billions of dollars into reshaping their thoughts. Africa's wealth was like something Europeans had never seen before that they literally sat down and shared Africa. They practiced their new methods of colonisation like the French using brainwashing techniques that made Africans see themselves as French. Absolutely washing away thousands of years of African history. My key point here is education. The current ruling class in Nigeria come from families with long history of slave trading and royalty. The Europeans took these slave traders under their wings and taught them formally, how to treat their fellow Nigerians inhumanely and gave them administrative positions. People like Tinubu, rumour has it that his mother Abibatu Tinubu was a former slave trader and she even took over colonizers' duties like collection of tax from the market women until she died in 2014 or so. Surely, a young Bola Ahmed will informally learn the business of his mother that is if she didn't even formally teach him how to exploit Nigerians. Train up a child in the way he should grow and it'll not depart from him.... You see now why you can't exclude Europeans from the conversation of Africa's regression. The politicians/administrators today are not working in your favour, they have a long history of exploitation education that remains in their families till date. The solution is that we can't choose from the corrupted political class to rule us, we the masses have to revolt so we can take power from them. If not that the Europeans are benefiting from their offsprings of exploitation, when the military coups started, why would they ever support it? Listen to Fela's 'Teacher Don't Teach Me Nonsense'. Never underestimate the effects of education. The planes and high rise buildings you see today is years of education. If education can build like that, you think it can't destroy like that? |

anonimi: If you've read that book you attached, you should know Europeans are the root cause. |

tribalmall: Lol Gentleman, relax. During Peter Obi’s time as state governor the HDI was above 2.0, at some point Ogun state’s was also above 2.0, whereas Lagos under Tinubu remained under 1.5. Even till today Lagos HDI average is still under 1.7. You cannot loot $2 million dollars in your first 2 years as Lagos state governor and not slow down development. You need to stop looking at the flashy things on the island or the things you strived hard to acquire yourself, you need to start looking objectively at how the government has helped you protect those things, your health and your children’s future. The only reason Lagos is currently topping the HDI in Nigeria is GDP per capita from the private sector which has nothing to do with Lasg. Remember to take out your tribal lens. |

ppogba: Yeah Sanwo Olu is a decent governor not taking that away from him. I’m just saying it is kinda unnecessary for him to involve himself in these theatrics having had a good run in office. Such theatrics doesn’t look good to people like me. It means there is the possibility that he could have been holding off for months, commissioning infrastructure that would improve the standard of living of the people he’s working for simply because he wants votes. |
