The startup space in Nigeria is just getting exciting as the days go by. PiggyVest is probably one of the most fascinating of them right now. Let me gossip about them a bit. So their funds are managed by AIICO Capital (who have a SEC license). Legit? Check They've got a micro-financing license from CBN. Amazing? You bet! Apart from the fact that I love the concept of their business in that it encourages savings, they've got a T-bills styled service called "Safelock". The interest you get is up to 13% pa (upfront) and you can set a duration between 10 and 1000 days. For those averse to managing funds from software applications, LOL, here's an excerpt from the coy's portal: "Our operational costs are relatively low - we do not operate multiple branches or hire a lot of staff to manage operations. We are also able to negotiate premium rates due to volumes." I personally think this is the future of fintech. Most Millenials and Bitcoiners like me probably have no problem trading from apps anyways. ----- chigo4u, July 18 |
AngryParrot1:Hi, do you have anyone that has tried this? I'm asking for a friend. |

One of the most effective things you can do to build better habits is to join a culture where your desired behaviour is normal behaviour. Atomic Habit This is the true power of the Financial Independence community. When you first realize what’s possible, it feels like you’ve stumbled on this huge secret. You can’t understand why everyone isn’t doing these things! Then, you discover that talking about finances in standard relationships with friends and family can be so awkward and counterproductive. Many people in your work or social groups are perfectly content to spend what they earn and borrow for more. Fortunately, there is an online community of writers, bloggers, and podcasters that you can tap into for learning and modeling. There are comment sections, forums, and conventions for dialogue. However passively or actively you engage, you enter a culture where the necessary behaviours are normal. Extreme frugality? Check. High earnings/high savings? Sure. Focus on investing? Yep. High income, low income, side hustles, charitable giving. All of them! Whatever you want to learn about, and whatever habits you want to build – you are in a community and culture that helps to reinforce the changes you need to make for success Source: EducatorFI Portal ----- If you can't start T-bills just yet cos of low funds, + Continue saving what you have. + Get a savings account where you don't withdraw money from (to be able to qualify for month-end interest)/ consider mutual funds, fixed deposits etc). Preservation of capital is key. + Don't loan out what you can't afford to lose + Don't cultivate the habit of borrowing money + Don't buy expensive clothes or material things that won't matter in the next 10 years + Live way below your means if possible + Don't be in a hurry to get an apartment if you can stay with your parents + About investments, diversify, diversify, diversify (I'm pleading )+ Don't invest in what you don't understand + Don't be moved by people who brag out their net-worth, rather see it as a motivation to do better + Seek to know more, don't laze around to be spoonfed. Be voracious for knowledge + Read Books If you hang around the barbershop long enough, sooner or later you're gonna get a haircut. |
PRISTINEMUSCLES:Wow wow wow. Just the thread I was looking for. I would read every bit of it, but is this thread dead or alive? I'm looking for extra motivation. |

RESHARPENED:Standard Chartered would even tell you that you need 50m to partake in the primary market but the information I gave applies to most banks. If however, you need a bank specific information, do not hesitate to contact them directly. Have a nice day. |
RESHARPENED: feelamong:A simple search or scan through the thread saves us the stress of answering previously answered questions. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. |
I've not used iInvest as I have not had need for it but their offer is not "too good to be true' considering they hold on to your returns till maturity. More details about the company is on the Web. They are licensed and regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria and FMDQ. Acidosis seemed to clarify their legitimacy here too https://www.nairaland.com/878880/treasury-bills-nigeria/826#80173275
