989900: Deals are about gains for both parties, who gains the more can be evaluated when you have full facts and figures.
If what we think it is is what it is, it is a win-win situation then.
1 litre of PMS sells for N86.50 (no fuel scarcity, next fuel station is just 1km away), I am out of fuel along Ore-Benin road, you siphon 10 litres from your car and sell to me at N930 instead of N865 -- we both win sort of: you make profit; I get out of jail! I deliberately added the last part to see if you would get it and you don't. You said the west has spies in our ranks as if that is new. Germany has spies in the U.S and the U.S has in Germany. That does not stop them from being allies. My point is Nigerians act too naive in world politics. Every country is selfish and will not do anything unless it furthers it's self interest. |

Volksfuhrer: I understand your concern, but I'm tired of the shenanigans of the West! The fact that our government came up with this bold step has given me renewed hope, that someone somewhere is thinking outside the box. And get one thing very clear: the West has always been the enemy (albeit a veiled one), they even have their agents within our ranks! We've put up with their condescending postures and subtle threats for much too long, it's time we put our faith elsewhere.
We are not declaring war on the west, but we should be free enough to choose our allies.
Kindest regards. Which Is why I said Nigerians need to get their act right before doing anything else. Every nation is selfish. That is how the game is played. Nigerians should know this by now. If China had nothing to gain from this alliance they wouldn't be doing it. They definitely have more to gain than we do. |

Volksfuhrer: So because there's corruption in the land we should not try to help ourselves. In fact, your post is a non sequitur. When we toed the line of the West in the days of yore, wasn't there corruption in our land? I'm afraid your argument is neither here nor there. I am not saying that Nigeria, and by extension Nigerians, should not help themselves, but you need to prioritize yourselves. Just because you are thirsty does not mean you should use a basket to fetch water. First, get a proper means of acquiring the water you need, then fetch the water. Not doing that is a waste of time and resources. There are things Nigerians need to learn to do before making bold alliances and decisions. Nigerians cannot maintain a university hostel's toilet, and they want to maintain a humongous trade/currency partnership with china. Ok. Good luck with that. |

Deen77: Excellent, yes corruption but no nation is totally free, it can be reduce. That why they rate corruption country by country. Gradually we can reduce ours too. Very correct. All Nations has some form of corruption/lawlessness in it's society. The important thing is how is it tackled? How is it seen by the general public? In Nigeria it is seen as a way of life. Most likely, If you own a car in Nigeria, you are corrupt. That is how bad it is in Nigeria. There is no sign of it being reduced in Nigeria. In normal societies, you will think long and hard before you do anything illegal because someone is always watching. In Nigeria, it is as reflective as breathing. |

Volksfuhrer: The hypocrisy of the West is just amazing. It's okay for them to swap currency with China but heinous for any African country to follow suit! That is not what they are telling you. They see what you all don't want to acknowledge. The mentality of Nigerians cannot make it work because of corruption. It does not matter what great policies you put in place, corruption will destroy it. Just because western economies do it and it works for them, does not mean it will work for Nigeria. For example. The western world has refineries. So does Nigeria. Do the ones in Nigeria function? Nigeria has roads. So does the western world. Are the roads in Nigeria pliable? The western world has power generating means. So does Nigeria. When last did you have 24hr uninterrupted power supply? Nigerians have good ideas but lack the knowledge, will, or virtue to make anything worthwhile work. Corruption is the bane of the country. |

Phones › Re: 7 Weird Places We Charge Our Phones by banmee(m): 7:48pm On Apr 16, 2016 |
shogat: Electric power shortage/unavailability has been a scourge in Nigeria, which we have adapted to as a country because there seems to be no solution presently at hand. In this era of smart phones, that comes with major flaw of having battery life that tend to drain out faster: Nigerians have to improvise alternative means to charge their phones since not everybody can afford using the generator always. You see people moving about with their charger looking for any available opportunity to charge their phones.
Here are some of the weirdest places we charge our phones.
1.Gas Stations: since the stations need to power their generators when selling fuel, people use that opportunity to locate the nearest one to them to charge their devices. There is high rate of theft here and also not possible when they don’t have fuel for sale.
2.Churches: people that attend church services in my area to charge their phones is increasing daily. They now pray the service last longer so that they can charge longer. You will see their demeanour change or turn back home whenever the church’s generator is faulty.
3.Banks: so I was on a queue inside one of the new generation banks, when a very good looking man came in and went directly to the water dispenser to drink a cup of water; immediately located an electricity wall-socket and plugged in his charger then sat down like someone about to deposit a huge sum of money (na charge e come charge). Many banks are halting such activities in their premises for security reasons.
4.Commercial Buses/taxies: people don’t struggle only for comfortable seats in buses again, they now struggle to use the car charger. They pass turn as if is a matter of life and death and some even forgets to pick their phones while alighting.
5.Salons: this is always an opportunity for me to charge since am a customer and I take it that charging is one of the services offered by the salon. The time limit depends on the style but as a sharp guy, to extend my charging time, I find faults and always correct the barber for long so that he will take his time while I continue my act.
6.Football Viewing Centres: 90 minutes is too much of a time to stay without charging after paying to watch a match. People flood viewing centres with their gadgets in order to charge them while enjoying the match. One’s attention is always divided since one must be vigilant because of thieves.
7.Restaurants: hungry or not, sometimes I just take a walk to a restaurant across my street; order a bottle of drink; sit close to a wall socket then plug in my charger then chill and enjoy my bottle for the next 2 hours till I get a full battery. where do you charge your phones folks? I don't know what you are talking about. I charge my shiit at home all day everyday. |

adeaks: Nope....clear and unambiguous! How can a means of communication that is clear and unambiguous be confusing. I mean, since it is clear and is not open to more that one interpretation. You said " where the words are clear and unambiguous, you give them their literal interpretation", and that makes absolutely no grammatical or logical sense. I go school oooo, and English na my number 1 language. |

adeaks: Well as they say in law, where the words are clear and unambiguous, you give them their literal interpretation.
The signpost warns you not to 'donp' 'dosbin' by the signpost area. In other words you can dump your refuse there without shame nor fear, but once the refuse comes in a dustbin, then by police order you are forbidden from dumping it. You mean "unclear" and "ambiguous" don't you? |
