WebmastersRe: What Is The Best Web Desgin Software by basking4me: 9:05pm On Nov 11, 2010
pc guru and cactus are just pulling our legs. The guy said webdesigning software and not programming software. Will notepad or ++ put the graphics on the design ? For me, your best bet should be CMS or content management systems. I use a couple including website baker www.ariscomltd.com, e107 www.pmnigeria.com, drupal www.kingofcms.net, plone, flash adobe, wordpress, oscommerce and a host of others i cant remember now. In as little as a few hours your site is up and runing using an os cms. Infact thats why we are known as KING OF CMS CONSULTING. We build web applications using CMSs.

dual, sorry i didnt get your drift. Lets work on this together. Someone has to bell d cat. Am with u all d way. I have some 300gb webspace to work with. Register ashewo.com or 9jagirls.com. I'll do d pointing to my webhosting space. Your business model is top notch.
WebmastersRe: Of What Use Is A Website To A Hair Dresser by basking4me: 6:23pm On Nov 05, 2010
Sexxy,

Thanks for clarifying what I didn't imply to Donpuzo. You are a darlene.

I was expecting you were going to reprimand me when I mentioned that it will be tantamount to ''killing a bird with two stones'' (I actually teasing you since it should have been ''killing two birds with one stone'').

I am glad you understand my drift and I appreciate your coming out in my defense.

Dual, following sexxy, the best way to market this your brothel business is to first look towards the high end users and you will label it (ESCORTS Services, which is currently quite popular in the the UK & US), then gradually you move to the low end clients till you get to the brothel level.

If you start from bottom-up chances of a good business model is slim.

All the best my brother!
WebmastersRe: Of What Use Is A Website To A Hair Dresser by basking4me: 10:57pm On Nov 04, 2010
don, i have written in favor of both design and development as i do both. Separating d boys from the men is for those whose who are not able to different the two. You can only rant if you are in the boys section. Dont assume what i did not imply.
WebmastersRe: Of What Use Is A Website To A Hair Dresser by basking4me: 6:51pm On Nov 04, 2010
Sexxy,

I like your idea of building a hairdressing CMS solution, it will actually be killing two stones with one bird! grin

Most Professions nowadays have their own customised CMSs either on proprietary or opens source. We have Medical CMS, Law CMS and a host of others for building contents for the respective professions.

My problems with this section is that everybody seem to know Web-designing but only few understand web-development, its time we begin to separate the boys from the men.

Yawa, you dont have to apologize to the poster, he really doesn't seem to know his work.

Young-Man, you cant be a web designer or developer and be doing philanthropy, do you know how long it takes to conceptualize a design or development work.

If you continue your website building philanthropy, you will become poor even before starting out.
PoliticsRe: Minors Flogged For Hawking In Abuja by basking4me: 3:37pm On Oct 22, 2010
Come to think of it, is there any policy for kids or child care running in this country, ?

if a dude can steal billions and go to jail for six months, and a kid out of need to survive goes to child labour (working to survive)n and still gets weeped for it, I can only imagine,

that Judge has nothing in his head, am sure, he may be on drugs or is mentally ill, should need to see a shrink(psychologist)!

(Note: it is not everyone you see on the street that talks fine or looks okay is actually okay, this judge is just one of them, ) angry
PoliticsRe: Minors Flogged For Hawking In Abuja by basking4me: 3:28pm On Oct 22, 2010
In the UK, there are records of birth and even payments are made to citizens for their upkeep until they get a job,  cant remember the name its called. Here in Nigeria, the Government of this country has failed woefully, no records of anybody, no planning and no provisions for upkeep of kids whose parents aint working.

The government of this country by nature does not care for its people. We dont love ourselves and our leaders dont give a fork about you.

The gap between the poor guy and the rich dude is like from Heaven to Hell!

We'll have to save ourselves,  no one is going to do it for us,
PoliticsRe: How Philip Emeagwali Lied His Way To Fame by basking4me: 3:30pm On Oct 21, 2010
i want to believe these are pure distractions to tarnish his image. Even in science there are schemings. Who were those getting burnt alive when they claimed that the earth was round. Today, are those claims not true and has d church not acknowledged it. Even alva thomas edison's claims of father of electricity was disputed given d fact that the bulk of d discoveries were made by his assistant.  Pl dont lets pull him down too.
WebmastersRe: Apart From Joomla: What Other Cms Do You Work With: ? by basking4me(op): 12:16pm On Oct 21, 2010
it is better to be a part of d os cms community. There is nothing in dev you want to start that has not already been done or contemplated. It is better to join the community to provide support, create ur own themes, snippets and modules to work with the existing cms like drupal and wordpress. Better b a big fish in big pond than be a big fish in a small pond. Ezpublish is another good cms. Has anyone tried XOOPS.

WebmastersRe: Apart From Joomla: What Other Cms Do You Work With: ? by basking4me(op): 9:14am On Oct 21, 2010
I have read severally in threads in the web section that coding from scratch is like reinventing the wheel. Afterall, someone has done us the favour of ,open source apps, why not use them.

Trying to be original and coding from scratch is like saying you want to have your own programming language or else why would you want to use an existing language to write a new code when you can as well use your newly created programming language to develop your new website.

Abi you still dey code with NOTEPAD, ?, grin the world is revolving and so is web technology and the way we do things generally!

Don't forget that these open source CMS are readily more acceptable and available and will beat any personal CMS given the fact that they are created with group efforts (loads of developers) and support on them is continuous.

CMS dont suck, it only gives you a level playing ground to start with. I have used E107 (an open source CMS) to develop a cargo tracking application that works very fine.

That you are using a CMS does not necessarily mean your work is going to be easy because depending on the work you want to do, this is what will determine how easy your work will be.

I repeat my question: Has anyone here used the Plone CMS to develop a website, ?
WebmastersRe: Apart From Joomla: What Other Cms Do You Work With: ? by basking4me(op): 10:49pm On Oct 20, 2010
1st time to use my phone on NL. i think 9ja webmasters should begin to think in the line of local content. This way, even abokis and okirika sellers can have online presence websites in pidgin our 2nd lingua franca. Has anyone here used plone cms ?
WebmastersRe: Apart From Joomla: What Other Cms Do You Work With: ? by basking4me(op): 4:38pm On Oct 20, 2010
Gentlemen and woman of the webmaster section, Pl dont let us digress from the main issue which is to discuss other CMS outside of Joomla that we have used for development works.

When you see bi-lingual websites, do you actually know what the developers have written as the footers. For Ariscom, I will like you to see it as a biligunal website with English and Pidgin languages used.

I am currently working on a dual language website using English and Yoruba and I am using the E107 CMS, and at the footer, we'll have ''Awon ton gbeseyi kale ni ilese oba-CMS''

I am a Developer at King of CMS Consulting, an IT Development & Consulting company in Lagos.

I would like to know other webmasters using CMSs outside of Joomla, reason is that I have come to observe that a lot of webmasters here work with the Joomla CMS than any other type and sincerely hope I am not the only one working with these other CMS.

Take for example, the other day I was chatting on the Plone forum chat and the guys there wouldn't believe I was from Nigeria until they checked out my IP address.

The closest physical support I could get was in South Africa fro my deployments (hardware).

I use different CMSs to develop applications and websites. Some of the CMSs I use include:

E107, WEBSITE-BAKER, JOOMLA, DRUPAL, Textpattern, Plone, Wordpress and Media-Wiki.

So lets know what CMs you are conversant with

WebmastersRe: All these Nigerian Online E-Commerce Shops by basking4me: 8:56am On Oct 16, 2010
The only 'improvement' I see continued confusion on the card industry. If it will cost me almost 1000usd to setup an online payment gateway through Interswitch or etransact for Nigerian buyers/audience whereas with as little as 100usd, the entire world is able to do business with me online through Paypal, Visa, Master etc, then there really is a problem with the web payment industry here in Nigeria.
WebmastersRe: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepa! See Website Humm by basking4me: 3:55pm On Oct 14, 2010
You need to relocate to the jokes sections. abegii

you;re getting confused by the day due to coding and programming languages! shocked
WebmastersRe: Dont Patronise Nigeria Web Hosting Company by basking4me: 3:53pm On Oct 14, 2010
Talking about Web hosts is like talking about Internet Service Providers (ISP) that provide bandwidth for Voice, Video and Data. If you were asked if there are any ISPs in ?Nigeria, of course there are but they also are mostly reselling bulk bandwidths.

The like of Zain, Etisalat are all ISPes, not just telecoms operators, the guys at main1 and Glo1 are the ones trying to setup independent ISPes and even at that they are not totally independent.

So, again, to say that there are no Hosting Companies in Nigeria will be totally wrong. Reason; there are lots of Nigerian Hosting Companies here that you dont know that have their web servers in their various offices here doing commercial hosting services.

A good example is ME. I have a webserver that runs my E-mailing system and its resident in my office as my lights never goes off! grin, only its not commercial

So if i need to run my commerical hosting , same applies!

WebmastersRe: Are Gtbank Visa Card Accepted On Yahoo And Facebook? by basking4me: 7:27pm On Oct 06, 2010
Our Banks are gradually facing out master-card, most of them are switching to visa now and of course you cant use Naira visa card on sites like yahoo and facebook,

They only accept international currencies of which i am sad to say, Nigerian Naira is not a part of. The guy will need to get a dom account and load it to his card in forex to be able to transact on sites like yahoo or ebay.

This WebaPlanet guy sounds more like eba-planet. Na real hilarious guy ooo,  how can you say if he's serious?, so what if lojik wasnt serious, you go beat am, ?

Somebody made an offer,  it is yours to accept or refuse it not for you to ask for conditions. I am sure its guys like you that go Interviews and bombard your interviewers with questions even more than the ones they ask you,

Next time,  just say,  'i am interested and follow the required instructions or just ignore  the message'
