And here we are, complaining about Nigeria, if that is the price 2 pay 4 technology, i'd rather not use tech.
How does the line in bold above make any sense? huh

Now I'm confused. Whether or not they are a professional newspaper doesn't mean they don't somehow shape public opinion.

Imagine something of this nature appeared in CNN's iReports, shouldn't the so called reporter bear the responsibility of the news item s/he reports?
Politics › Re: Buhari Keeps mum On Underage Voters by Bawss1(m): 12:38pm On Apr 07, 2011
Quote from Ekt bear
grin I dey pity this GEJ! From the reports, policemen were present alongside inec officials while underage voters were voting. I wonder which enforcement of law remain again. Abi Jonah go carry baton they go all the polling units to 'enforce law'?

After the cancellation of last week's elections Buhari was quick to accuse the PDP of being behind it all (whereas, as you rightly pointed out, inec was there for him to querry).  With all sincerity, I expected him to address the issue of underage voters, most especially as it concerned states that he expected to have the highest votes.
My thoughts exactly. The allegation of underage voters appears to have sprung up only in areas where team BB are expected to have the highest votes. If they are serious about their anti corruption war they should not delay in distancing themselves from all this. Buhari's silence here is sending out the wrong message to the Nigerian public. Let him not make the same mistakes that GEJ is known to have made; failing to take a firm stand over an issue when his interest is at stake.

Here is something I think should be classified under this thread. http://www.saharareporters.com/gallery/gejs-news-editorial-tools-reporters

Unfortunately (abi craftily) there are no names attached to this piece of photo news. All we see is

"Goodluck Jonathan's campaign managers today assembled some news editors
at the Sheraton Hotels, Abuja and doled out N200,000 each in N500 denominations; to go with the cash is a Samsung Galaxy Tab and a pack of lapels.
The largesse was doled out to the editors from room 804 of the hotel at about 2pm today 6th April 2011."

For this story to be credible more information (names or pictures of the givers and the receivers) than that provided above should have been provided, instead it comes across as cheap smear campaign.

C'mon you guys shouldn't derail this thread with your personal vendettas. Lets all stick to the theme of this thread. Anybody who doesn't like it should go elsewhere.

But this story get as e be.

1. All we see is just a picture of one bag. Several times over
2. No faces or names are mentioned.

Besides this is coming from the infamous Sahara reporters.

Hmmmm

Politics › Re: Buhari Keeps mum On Underage Voters by Bawss1(m): 10:42am On Apr 07, 2011
^^You have raised valid points. For a party that prides itself that its main strength is fighting corruption I find its silence on this issue (i.e. underage voters in the north) disturbing. Is team BB saying that they are not aware of this occurrence? Here is a chance for them to prove that they are sincere about what they stand for; distance themselves from this allegation of underage voters.

We all say we want free and fair elections, but from indications I see both the incumbent and the opposition have other intentions.

What exactly is the aim of all these? To show us that only Nigerian journalists make errors, right? Your tomfoolery must indeed be written in the stars.
Members of the fourth estate play a very important role in shaping public opinion, thats a role that has far reaching consequences. When they err the public should take note so as not be disadvantaged. Recall the saying that to be poorly informed is to be deformed?

Sagamite should be commended for starting this thread even though he needs to tone down his use of scurrilous words

Corruption is all I keep hearing from team BB. Thats all nice and dandy but they all seem to get rather quiet when it comes to issues of addressing this country's economy. Have they nothing to offer in this regard?

@Topic I think Lagos is worse off as a result of Buhari's decision. Its not like he had much success in reducing the country's dept as he claims.

Imo State must be heading to an uncertain future if so. It seems the candidates for governor are all questionable, is there no one who honestly has the citizen's interest at heart?

Politics › Re: Team Ribadu Are On Exile! by Bawss1(m): 2:16pm On Apr 06, 2011
I wanted to see in Ribadu a frontman for young dynamism, a complete break from the status quo and a drive for stirring this country onto greater heights. Perhaps people still see him as such but I was disappointed when I watched his responses to questions asked in the NN24 presidential debate. He failed to articulate any clear cut plans on how to address what I consider core issues facing this country. Instead I saw him portray his main strength to be his young age – his “youthfulness” -an impression that I agree can be described as juvenile.

Right now I don’t know who to vote for.
Phones › Re: Gsma Calls On Nigerian Government To Support Mobile Broadband Rollout by Bawss1(op): 1:02pm On Apr 06, 2011
If mobile broadband is fully implemented in this country perhaps we may see the official introduction of devices like Apple's iPhone and Android phones. all with data plans off course, online gaming and "proper" e-commerce (I'm talking Netflix) cool
Phones › Gsma Calls On Nigerian Government To Support Mobile Broadband Rollout by Bawss1(op): 11:55am On Apr 06, 2011
Mobile is the most cost-effective way of delivering broadband services in Nigeria. Nigeria already has advanced mobile networks, such as Glo's recently launched LTE network, and has experienced significant take-up of HSPA Mobile Broadband. The laying of submarine data cables between Lagos and Europe has provided much of the international backhaul needed, but mobile is vital in providing 'last mile' connectivity to consumers, especially in rural areas. However, without proper spectrum allocation in line with internationally harmonised band plans and broader government support, it will not be possible to realise the full potential of Mobile Broadband.

I think most candidates vying for political office are not intellectually sound. So Dosunmu plans to scrap Lastma and other similar government agencies and replace them with what? huh

How is this strategy suppose to appeal to the sensible voter?
