foyeks2001:Pay TV is not an essential service, for most people its still a luxury. I think its rather far fetched when people call on the government to intervene in these kinds of issues. Government should be concerned with other important things not whether Nigerians watch Big Brother or African Magic or the EPL. The way to bring down subscription fees lies in free market competition not by government interference. |
chopper:Ahh but that is exactly where the golden eggs lie -- the EPL! And that by a very long shot is where DSTV's advantagel is. So untill other Pay TV services come up with this package DTSV will continue to lead the pack. I'm all for lower subscription fees BTW. ![]() |
One is becoming disgusted with the way those vying for political appointments misrepresent facts to promote themselves. I see that they will not shrink from bogus claims to outright lies all in the name of campaigning. This is very sad. Only this morning I came across a headline attributed to Buhari where he stated that Nigeria is worse now than 12 years ago. This particular statement (however whimsical this may appear) has helped in no small measure decide who I'll not be voting for in the forthcoming elections. And now this statement by Sekibo that Amaechi squandered N989bn in 3 years?! C'mon, people are smarter than this. The gleaming schools and hospitals in Rivers state tell a different story, certainly not one of squander. Its high time politicians of all parties stay away from this kind of behavior, it speaks volumes about their characters. |
@Moderator kindly amend the wordings of this thread's title on the homepage. It says "I'll Now Ready for Debate. . ." which is not grammatically correct. |
Lemme see our choices range from the Clueless, the Coup plotter and the 'whats-he-about-anyways?' Tough choices indeed. |
sewa36447:Its the latest with the worst offerings of TV channels. |
Mai Suya:Apparently you limit your understanding of the phrase 'contributing to the Nigerian economy' to the aspect of equity stakes. You fail to consider areas that are affected directly and indirectly as a result of MTN's business operations (employment, scholarships, grants etc). However the 9.45% you quoted still translates to a lot in real terms i.e. finances. In all I take it that you'd rather that MTN suffers a loss because you don't like the company? Again that is a weird position to take if you have the interest of the economical growth of Nigeria at heart. |
Cyborg2011:The nuclear attack was different in that it was a man made catastrophe. All of these recent terrible disasters stem from the workings of nature, at least there were nature related. The Japanese people having really being through a lot. I pray that they receive the strength to survive all these. |
Is this the reason why Waziri has been recently denied an american visa? |
What a weekend it has been for the Japanese; first an earthquake then a tsunami and later nuclear/radiation-related problems. Phew |
With this reality on ground I am now unsure where I will press my hand. ![]() |
ZIM DRILL:Very well said. Its easy to get caught up in the web of expectations from family members, Churches and the society at large, very easy. Ultimately this decision lies with the couple and whatever they decide upon should be respected by all. |
^^ As predicted the N900 would be forgotten on store shelves a year after launch, at least in most parts of the world. Nairalanders here seem to differ. ![]() What we should look forward to now is the Windows 7 Nokia phones. |
Funny. How do you intend to hold Sony accountable for this situation? Meanwhile have you rectified the error? |
^^ Is Osaka affected too? |
It is sad that people would rather have a company that is contributing much to the Nigerian economy run at a loss and still expect good service from them. Obviously many of the people here speak out of spite. |
Ah the hacking community here is in line with the update. ![]() |
Stop all this MTN hating. IF you guys don't like them don't use them. |
whats been happening here? |

So much for being academic with this ![]() My whole postulation was based on the assumption that physical copies of the games has to be sourced (from game retailers) to stock up ones library, I totally overlooked the internet. Theory fail. My bad |
The items in the lists suggests they want to open a liquor store. ![]() |
^^ Well put, 9ijaman. ![]() |
My commitment to Nigeria is not partial, neither is it substantial, but it is total. Copied from GEJ's FB page. ![]() |
^^^^ What does this have to do with this thread ![]() |
What does this tell you? My commitment to Nigeria is not partial, neither is it substantial, but it is total. You can trust me to take good decisions on behalf of Nigeria because I am a stakeholder whose progress is tied to the progress of Nigeria.
Another classic from GEJ ![]() |
OK lets get academic with this jailbreak . . .From the article "4. The New (western styled) video game retailers, who are dependent on PS3 sales becuase of its “unbreakable security”: Replay NG, Omagames and Kalahari games (plus some new Project GX guys that were just about to commence) might suffer greatly from this development. The truth is this might spell the death of this legit sector trying to find its path." I posit that the jailbreak will be of minimal impact on the sales of the game sellers listed above. I say this because the jailbreak for it to be used successfully - i.e. to be enjoyed - will require a large (or decent) selection of games, something that goes beyond the collection of the neighborhood boys, something that only the game sellers have. True, the jailbreak frees gamers from the constraint of playing games with the physical discs present in their consoles, but the gamers still have to 'acquire' the discs to copy them - at least the first lenders still need to. There is still a vibrant used games market which I believe the mentioned retailers have a part in. The jail-breakers will need this market to thrive because it will be the best source to stock up ones library/collection. "We will have spin-offs and Nigerian versions of the flash-drive hack. Trust Alaba. " Really? I wonder what the Nigerian version of the jailbreak can possibly be. |
^^^ I take it that you are not familiar with surveys of this nature judging by your post. usbcable:Funny reasoning. |
Very sad. Some fresh air indeed. smh |
At the rate folks are going they will end up blaming GEJ for every shortcoming under the sun. The brilliance or idiocy of this new policy lies with the police not the presidency. Give it a rest people. ![]() |
With the latest rulings from an Ecuadoran court the American oil giant Chevron is to pay up $9.4Billion for environmental pollution. The rest of the story can be found in this link; http://www.economist.com/node/18182242?fsrc=scn/fb/wl/ar/monsterorvictim I posted this story here to discuss and compare such happenings with the situations here in Nigerian . |
