"We are examining very closely the content, composition, the personalities, who are the leaders of these opposition forces," Admiral Stavridis said in testimony yesterday to the US Senate.
While the opposition's leadership appeared to be "responsible men and women" fighting the Gaddafi regime, Admiral Stavridis said, "we have seen
flickers in the intelligence of potential al Qaeda, Hizbollah, we've seen different things."
"But at this point I don't have detail sufficient to say there is a significant al-Qaeda presence or any other terrorist presence," he added.

Attn: Mr Cap28 the line in bold is also from the link you provided.

But we digress -

I have been asking; what is your stand in all of this?

2 muchlogic one thing i'd just like to point out is that in order to really get a people motivated you have to change the way they think, the current crop of african kids coming up have all been brainwashed by western values, if we are looking at developing the nation we have to start with changing the mindset of these youths - china had a cultural revolution and i beleive this is what gave the  current generation of chinese people the confidence to become what they are today, shouldnt there be more of an emphasis on educating the upcoming young minds and weaning them off this western cultural value system which has been instilled in them through the western media.
Just so that everyone is in the clear, I think that phrase "western cultural value system"  should be elucidated in depth. Some people will argue that China's explosive growth is actually as a result of adopting "western" practices as regards its economy. . .

2muchlogic:
WHAT CAN WE DO?

#  Re-orientate our eurocentric education towards an African centered education
@OP Please the quote in bold above also should be explained.

Any effort that seeks to develop and promote African culture should be welcomed. I think this idea is laudable.

which revolution took place in libya? so in your mind a group of criminals carrying guns equates to a revolutionary movement?.

at no point did Gadaffi and his sons admit to killing innocent civillians - that is purely a figment of your imagination, Gadaffi has merely been trying to defend himself and his regime from these dangerous al qaeda thugs who are trying to overthrow his regime - please try and get it right my friend.

You say they dont know how to use their weapons - thats funny cos they've been doing a very good job massacring a lot of black africans:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNA8z5G-Xmk&feature=player_embedded
Gadaffi has been merely trying to defend himself? From Alqaeda thugs?. Soon we may be hearing that the conflict in Libya was staged managed by the CIA through mind control. . .This is the same line of reasoning delusion that tyrants want to hoodwink the rest of the world with, it smacks of total ridiculous propaganda!
In another post you question the reports of CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera on the Libyan Revolution yet failed to present credible convincing evidence of the reports being false.

Again I ask; where is your stand in all of this?

Politics › Seun Please Create A Conspiracy Theories Section On Nairaland. by Bawss1(op): 5:48pm On Apr 12, 2011
This is a serious plea to Seun to please create a special section for grouping all the conspiracy theories we read about on this forum. That way some nairalanders will know where to place their amazing theories and conjectures and spare the uninterested the trouble of coming across them.

The thing don tire person.

Thanks
Foreign Affairs › Re: Whatever Happened To The Hunt For Osama Bin Laden? by Bawss1(m): 5:41pm On Apr 12, 2011
Seun should create a section on Nairaland for Conspiracy Theories. It will be a child board of politics/ foreign affairs section.

these people you call tyrants were allies with the west until they stepped out of line, gaddaffi was doing a roaring business with the entire EU, along with america up until december last year, there was no complaint about him being a tyrant then was there?  does it mean  a person only becomes a tyrant when he falls out of favour with the west ?  are you that easily maniupulated that you only recognise something to be "bad" or "wrong" when someone else (who doesnt even have your interest at heart) tells you its wrong?  How come Blaise Campaore or Paul Biya are not being described as tyrants by france and the EU, oh let me guess - because they are following orders -  hahahahha - i should have guessed .

Dont forget that the late Omar Bongo another tyrant was in power in Gabon for 42 years, why wasnt he described as a tyrant after all he appropriated billions of his countries oil revenue and used it to enrich himself and his family while leaving the majority of his people to live in squalor - why wasnt the cry of tyranny raised by france then? funnily enough his son has since taken up the reins of power and not a whimper from the french, oh that must be because Bongo and his dad have been financing french presidential elections for decades.

gadaffi only became a tyrant the minuite he decided to nationalise the libyan oil industry thereby cutting out western oil corporations from the humonugous profits they were making in his country to the detrimient of libya's economy and its people- learn to read between the lines, you are being taken for a ride.

oh lets not forget mobutu - place in office by the CIA and allowed to stay there for  37 years courtesy of military aid from the US, despite all this the US were quite happy to look the other way while he plundered billions in mineral resources and killed thousands of his own people who tried to challenge him - not even whimper from the US while all this was going on, probably due to the mineral concessions they received from him.

Ghadaffi, Gbagbo and the likes didn't just acquire their tyrant/dictator status in the recent events that took place.  They have always been seen as such from the get go and the fact that western governments did "business" with them didn't make them less of tyrants.

Where is your stand in all of this? Any observer of international politics will easily see that countries usually act first in accordance with their self interests but would you rather that said atrocities continue unchecked?

Cap28, I find that you are disturbingly pro Ghadaffi and pro Gbagbo. You cut the picture of one who prefers that tyrants and dictators hold a people to ransom as long as they fit into (imagined) western conspiracy theories.

As far as I know everyone has a theory but no one is providing a solution to the problem, Like Mandingo said it is all schematics, We can spend a lifetime debating over the finer points rather than tackling the issues raised.
There will never be any real solutions because some of the issues raised exists in most part in the heads of the people who think them up. The so called theories may contain half truths but upon closer observation are just propaganda or conspiratorial stuff. Stuff like defense companies and the US military running the world, the imperialistic obsessions of the west etc. . .
In 2009, Olulade received a Nigerian Achievement Awards (South Africa) from President Jonathan for "symbolising the best values of Nigeria in the Republic of South Africa" at a ceremony attended by top Nigerian and South African dignitaries.

http://thenationonlineng.net/web3/news/33026.html
I think there is a mistake in the quoted line. Jonathan was not President in 2009. Perhaps the correct date is 2010.
