The starter of this thread makes himself look like a buffon with his "black African" nonsense IMO

of course he thinks he is educated and so is stuck on such idiocy. His past threads have reflected the same mentality imo. He blabs about "Arab" this and "that" and thinks he is making sense.

His type of mentality is what every right thinking African "white", "yellow" "brown" or "black" should completely avoid. Archaic mentality at its worst!!
of course he is going to ome back yapping about some "black African" nonsense so there is no point in even engaging him

A moderator needs to chane the topic of this thread to Chadians imported into Lybia or something like that.

The guys mentality is seriously bleeped up with this "black" nonsense he is into

I think they are just assuming this because Nigeria's army has gone into other countries to restore order in the past.

Northern Nigerians don't speak French.
Possibly, however Dr. Christopher Davidson says they are Nigerians and Chadians, also the average Libyan is very conversant with Arabic, but might not be able to tell the difference between English and French (especially when the murderers arent exactly conversing with them).
Politics › Where Are the Nigerian Mercenaries Shooting Libyans In Cold Blood Based? by Beaf(op): 11:45pm On Feb 21, 2011
I watched aghast as Dr. Christopher Davidson alleged that Nigerians and Chadians are behind the bloody massacres in Libya. It was on Jeff Randall Live (Sky).

Dr. Christopher Davidson's assertion is slowly bubbling up from quite a few other sources, so we are left with difficult and very alarming questions.
Where exactly are these blood thirsty Nigerian from? By some estimates, there are 150,000 "African" mercenaries operating in Libya, doing things the Libyan army would never do to their own people. The bestial degree of bloodlust among these animals reminds one of the human carnage that has devilled Jos, with babies cut in pieces, diced and burnt.

We need to ask serious questions about where these people are based, because an army of that size could only be based in a foreign land. Also, how was Gaddafi able to assemble such huges numbers at such speed? Or are there actually Nigerian mercenaries training in Libya? If so, for what purpose and for how long? If these animals are truly found to be Nigerians, what does it portend for the future?

Here is further fragmented evidence from the protesters themselves:

One man told Channel 4 News: "A lot of people are dying on the streets. There are lot of cars with troops from outside Libya, I think they are Nigerian, from African countries.

"Most of them are being shot by snipers, from far away in the head or in the chest by Africans. Most of them don't speak good Arabic, they speak French. "
And when that person leads, people will think he is crazy or question what tribe he represents. That is the simple truth.
That is exactly why revolution is TOTALLY impossible in todays Nigeria.
What binds a man from Agbassa in in Warri to a child from Tungar Kwangi village in Kebbi? What goals are common, except the need to keep the belly full?

The revolution we need is one of the mind. Sadly, the immediate past generation did not produce enough thinking types and this generation is falling into an ethnically bigoted latrine attitude. Too many Nigerian's are infernal beasts of instinct; they jump because it seems obvious, not because it is logical; they are like trained dogs that always react the same way to their masters voice, even when the call is to suicide.

What we need to do is get organised, and the only way to do that is to embrace a national ideology. In turn, the only way to create an cross-cuturally acceptable ideology is to create a real sense of belonging. A sense of belonging will only come to every Nigerian when there is true representation at all levels and a clear demonstration that the state/system cares. The only way to achieve these things in a country as diverse as Nigeria, is to tread the path of true federalism, we have unlimited supplies of oil to finance such a project.

The path to true federalism must be called for by all who care for Nigeria, and forward thinking people are already networking, forging and pallaying revolutionary ideas and ways to take full advantage of the siesmic shift in Nigeria's political landscape. The mind is where the Nigerian revolution must start, not the streets.

@yamtas335, the most unexposed  Nigerians happen to be from the muslim north, where most kids are raised with no formal education, but only thought the Koran and are told, anything not allowed by Mohammed(PBUH) when he was alive over a thousand years ago, is still relevant in the modern era.

If  over 60% of the population in Nigeria are illiterates, then u most agree that most of these illiterates most come from the region that denies millions of its youth access to basic education, but would rather force feed them Islamic dogma. Where do you think the most enlightened and educated Nigerians come from? Where do u think the most celebrated Nigerian writers, Soyinka and Achebe are from? Do u think they are from a muslim heritage? Travel round the World, the Nigerians u come across who are doing great things  are mostly from the South and are predominantly christians.

I do not mean to disrespect people from the muslim North, I only wish the Northern elite will do something to change the lives of these voiceless kids, instead of coming here to write poo.

The exposed ones will never vote for religious fanatics disguised as Nationalist.
Thank you!
There was a topic recently about GEJ's plans to educate the almajiri, who are among the most abused children on the Earths surface. Rather than applaud, positively criticise or make suggestions, you should have witnessed the amount of swear words, vile abuse and utter gutter words pumped out by some of NL's Northern elite.
Yet, these hapless kids are bred in a manner that makes them easy pickings as fodder and expendable weapons in the various pseudo-religious conflicts that occur like clockwork up North.
We are at a stage in our history where very serious questions need to be asked about such attitudes.

it's not about CPC supporters, it's about Nigerians who are tired of seeing their country drowning daily in corruption and propagander without any human development policy, it is about Nigerians who are tired of PDP's clueless 12year rule, it is about Nigerians who are tired of a president who goofs everytime he speaks, it is about Nigerians who are tired of a president who is only coherent on facebook, it is about nigerians who are tired of praying for their country without taking action! If their votes can't talk, maybe the stones will!!!!
There is no redemption in stone throwing types and your reasons for siding with them seem pretty weak.
Corruption is due to Nigeria's fake federal structure and not due to PDP; which sadly remains Nigeria's only truly national party, it also has a level of sophistication which although ordinary to most foreigners, is like a wondrous miracle to the likes of the stone throwing CPC.

Each time CPC is mentioned, I don't see national development; instead the mind is swamped with visions of stern faced jack boots lost and confounded in a democratic setting, yet backed by legions of stone throwing arsonist urchins.

In the meantime, there has been a huge massacre overnight in Tripoli. May the souls of the fallen RIP:

Dramatic footage posted on YouTube showed flames pouring from a main police station. Plumes of smoke could be seen from the Hall of the People, a symbol of Gaddafi's power. One witness said: "It's in flames - black smoke is everywhere. There is panic and chaos. Government officials are running away along with the military."

[flash=640,390]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDozcByEYOE?version=3[/flash]

The main courthouse, a bank and an intelligence agency building were among the blazing buildings. State television and bank buildings were also broken into.

The streets appeared quieter this afternoon but cracks were appearing all over the Gaddafi regime. After a string of defections, military airfields were bombed by air force chiefs, apparently to stop fighters being used against the regime by dissident elements.

"Gaddafi is losing control of the military - he can no longer trust them," claimed a pro-democracy campaigner in Tripoli. "It is the end game for Gaddafi and he is reacting with death and destruction."

Gaddafi's son, Saif, said during a state TV broadcast that his father would fight "until the last man standing, even to the last woman standing and until the last bullet". Libya's envoy to the Arab League, Abdel Moneim al-Honi, declared he was "joining the revolution". The country's ambassador to India, Ali al-Essawi, said he was resigning. Mohamed Bayou, former chief spokesman, criticised threats of violence. Major tribal and religious leaders have also allied themselves with the protesters, leaving Gaddafi reliant on his regular troops and a group of mercenaries who are said to have gone from house to house in one area butchering suspected protesters.

Pressure grew on Britain today over its friendship with the regime since 2004 when Tony Blair brokered a deal exchanging diplomatic and military promises in return for valuable oil and gas deals.

Foreign Secretary William Hague urged Britons to stay away from Libya and said emergency evacuation plans were being considered. Families of British diplomats were being told to fly home. Mr Hague said he did not know where Gaddafi was but had spoken to Saif. "The son is clearly very much in Libya, but I have no evidence as to the whereabouts of Gaddafi himself." Violent clashes carried on all night, with internet blogs and tweets breaching the secrecy of the oil-rich police state. The Hall of the People was said to be burning intensely. A resident said: "The entire building is burning. Firemen are trying to put the fire out but it is growing. The fire service is having to be protected by soldiers. Agitators want to see all symbols of Gaddafi's government destroyed."

There were only sketchy details of the massacre in Green Square, a place where crowds traditionally gather to celebrate Gaddafi's so-called Green Revolution, an eccentric mix of socialism and Islam.

"It happened late on Sunday night," said one witness. "Soon vehicles had turned up full of secret servicemen. They shot from the vehicles - killing anyone they could. There has been a massacre."

The Economic Benefits the Middle East Crisis Could Bring Nigeria

With the mushrooming turmoil in the Middle East, just one thing is certain, there will be several years of uncertainty in this volatile region. So, what does it all mean for Nigeria?

First of all, let’s put things in perspective. The Middle East is of exceeding importance to the World energy market. Any instability’s in that region would send shocks across the market, oil is already up two dollars on the Libyan crisis. The real seismic activity will start when Libya, Algeria and Iran are swept away in the burgeoning revolution.

The West has committed a lot of crime and imperialistic blunders, as well as propped up despots in practically every Arab country. Therefore, the West and her interests are viewed as much the enemy as are the despots.
It is common knowledge that the West does not trifle with their energy supply; it keeps dollars rolling, businesses going and people in employment. With certain loss of market and influence on Arab street, the West is bound to look to new avenues, and West Africa is a ripe target. Not only does the region produce the highly sought after low sulphur content, light, sweet crude; it is also a region that is politically malleable and relatively peaceful.

The likely first sign to look out for will be heightened attention given to the attainment of stability in Ivory Coast; a country that has slowly slid down the newsworthy ladder in recent weeks. Another sign would be increased diplomatic outreaches and visits from Western top shots. In Nigeria, the Niger Delta would become an area the West would use as a political sledgehammer against Abuja.

On Nigeria’s part, we would be able to play a hard game with the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), exploration licence renewal as well as balance Western interests with Russian and Chinese interests. The tug of war between the China and the West would be to our advantage as we will be able extract technological know-how by treaty and by cunning.

In all, the Middle East crisis will result in a vastly improved Niger Delta environment and Nigeria would benefit from a stable economy with huge technological possibilities. The West has learned bitter lessons from its political errors in the Middle East. All we need is play it right, but if we get it wrong, we will enter a slavery worse than what the Arabs faced.

Chyz: Yea i head about that . Benghazi is in eastern libya. I hear that that whole side is neglected heavily. Could that be due to a case of ethnic or religious discrimination?
Possibly. But there are reports of an impossible to concieve degree of evil coming out of Libya:

An intelligence source reported that 150 soldiers and officers who disobeyed orders and refused to shoot at protestors would be executed.

Estimates of the total number of fatalities over six days of unprecedented unrest ranged from 233 – the latest figure given by Human Rights Watch – to 285. But some opposition sources gave figures as high as 500.

Two of Gaddafi's other sons, Khamis and Saadi, and intelligence chief Abdullah Sanussi were reportedly commanding efforts to crush the protests in Benghazi, where buildings were ransacked and troops and police forced to retreat to a compound to pick off demonstrators with sniper and artillery fire.

Libyan diplomat in China resigns over unrest: report

AFP – Demonstrators protest against the Libyan government in in Washington, DC. A senior Libyan diplomat posted … .– 9 mins ago
BEIJING (AFP) – A senior Libyan diplomat posted in China has resigned and called on the army to intervene in the bloody uprising against leader Moamer Kadhafi, the Al-Jazeera news network reported Monday.

The diplomat, Hussein Sadiq al Musrati, stepped down in an on-air interview with Al-Jazeera and "called on all diplomatic staff to resign", the Qatar-based satellite television channel reported on its website.

The official also said Kadhafi "may have left Libya" and that there had been a "gunfight" between his sons, the network added, while noting it was unable to confirm those statements.

Musrati is listed as the second secretary in the Libyan mission to Beijing. Embassy staff told AFP on Monday that officials were not available for comment on the report.

Kadhafi's son Saif al-Islam Kadhafi warned Monday that the country was facing a bloody civil war if protesters refuse to accept reform offers, in a speech broadcast as gunfire rang out in the capital.

"Libya is at a crossroads. If we do not agree today on reforms, we will not be mourning 84 people, but thousands of deaths, and rivers of blood will run through Libya," he said.

Rights watchdogs have said hundreds are feared dead in a military offensive to crush the uprising against Kadhafi's 41-year iron rule.

Reports: Gaddafi Has Left Libya, Fled for Venezuela

Posted by Aurelius at 5:58 PM Email This BlogThis! Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Google Buzz
Update: In a news conference, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi tried to explain away the protests as a "plot against Libya" and "people on narcotics."  He also stated that Libya falling would be "one thousand" times worse than Egypt falling.  He also stated that "tomorrow" Libyans would create the Libya "we all dreamed of."  If not, he continued, everyone "will pay."

Update #2:  Iran's Press TV is now reporting that Gaddafi has left Libya according to their sources.

In reports that are as of now unconfirmed, it is being reported that Libyan Dictator Muammar Gaddafi has left Libya.  This could possibly mark an end to Gaddafi's regime, which has ruled the coutry with an iron fist for over four decades.

Protests have reached the capital of Tripoli, while various news sources are reporting that the government is "faltering."  Even worse for Gaddafi, protesters now hold several cities; not streets or squares, but entire cities.

The German news site TT.com is now reporting that opposition groups in Libya are now saying that "Muammar Al-Gaddafi had to leave the country for Brazil or Venezuela."  Al Jazeera refused to take on the issue straight on, but their reports suggested that Gaddafi is no longer in his country.

Doha, a news site linked with Al Jazeera, is reporting that Gaddafi has in fact fled the country.

Possibly telling, the state news agency of Libya, Jana, is now stating that Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam would "soon" hold a television press conference.  Why Gaddafi's son would be making a news address instead of his father could indicate that the dictator is no longer in the country.

Gaddafi
Gaddafi and Venezuelan autocratic President Hugo Chavez are good friends, which makes it extremely like that if Gaddafi has indeed fled that he would be heading to Venezuela.  Both Chavez and Gaddafi share man ideologies and a hate for the United States.

The protests in Libya have exploded since Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down slightly over a week ago.

Thanks Pal. I didn't expect a large response or any response for that matter. That I have you and the others talking now that's makes a world of a difference. Great!! Now to the day when we will all hug and sing kumbaya, that day will not come. But the job of changing the country's leadership must be done . The Leadership knows their days are numbered and they are ready to go but we must ask for it. Talking to the wind? Not sure about that. Remember last year "Enough is Enough" organization had a shutdown demonstration at Abuja. This was before Tunisia. It did not take all Nigerians coming together as it  didn't take all Northern Africans participating. All it takes is the few and ready getting the work started and an effective plan for continuity. The keyword here is "Continuity". Yes the fight back will come  as a rebuff but persistent WILL of the people will always prevail. Look at what is going on now. It will spread to all four corners of this planet where there is Bad Governance. It is just the time. As we know, there's a time for everything and the time has come that moral majority is tired of being cheated by a handful of greedy people. That's what we see happening across the globe. Tomorrow some other Bad Government will erupt and that's what's going on. Is it a wise thing to hop on the universal sentiment and take care of your country now? I know that's a thought and action worth pursuing. Should I wait for someone else to get going ? No I need to make the decision for myself before I expect anyone else to do same and that is why my expectation is so small and perhaps shallow. Charity begins at home we agree. I know you agree with me that we need a change but I also know that you are afraid of the work ahead to bring it to a fruition. You shouldn't. All you need to do is make your individual decision to help bring about change and allow orders to do same. That way we are self convince on what we are fighting for and thus achieve the the persistent solidarity needed for the long haul. Buddy are you with me. Are you at least going to make your own decision. That will make two , then we can together go for the third, fourth and the geo-progression. ARE YOU IN?
You certainly don't have me talking. I am simply advising.

Some of us have been at gunpoint for the sake of the country several times over and we know that Nigeria must first be re-ordered from the ground up before any street power can become potent. I was a young adult when we stopped tanks trundling down Ikorodu Road from Ikeja military cantonement, with nothing but raw courage and unadulterated determination. People died.
As a student leader, I led many demo's and organised nuff riots, so please keep the "we are afraid" stuff. Our unifying factor at the time was the seething countrywide hatred for IBB, topped by MKO's annulled election.

Put bluntly, your dream is a pie in the sky and a waste of time. Everything needs a plan and a unifying fulcrum. You have none.
Channel your zeal into learning about the country, many things will make your eyes pop. Channel your zeal, but keep it burning brightly so that it can become the right weapon in a place and at a time of your choosing, and according to well considered strategy.

Some tasters:

the only odd item that filtered into the news was the stone-throwing protest by supporters of General Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
http://www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=28800

Young men and women lined major roads leading to the Emir of Lafia’s palace in Nasarawa state yesterday chanting “Sai Buhari” and carrying Congress of Progressive Change presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari posters. The youth also threw stones at the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan as it passed by on its way to the state capital
http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5675047-146/nasarawa_protesters_hurl_stones_at_jonathans.csp

the uproar in question in Hadejia was never about Lamido or PDP but strictly an internal uproar in Buhari’s CPC
http://newsdiaryonline.com/lamido_fire.htm

The first attempt of 8th January failed and was cancelled by the party and INEC because the voters were 20 times more than those on the party register. The most shameful charade of primary elections took place on 12th January during which thugs and stalwarts suspected to be Masari loyalists actually conducted these elections even as party officials waited at the state secretariat for election materials. The collation of this mockery of an election is still on-going. Instead of the CPC National Executive Council to fish out the perpetrators of these breaches to internal democracy, the party embarks on yet another wild goose chase with one more serial committee to ostensibly pervert the cause of justice.
http://allafrica.com/stories/201101270898.html

Irked by the ugly trend, the Bauchi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) recently boycotted all the activities of the state chapter of the Congress for Political Change (CPC) over the alleged use of thugs to harass some of its members.

Think about that. Do you think a lot of hyperbolic debate here rather than action changes anything. Believe it or not things are on the way for a change with or without any one of you. The truth is you better not stand in the way of progress. It's just like a fully loaded freight train.
Why do you think there have been very few responses to your article after so many days?
A lot of the time, I preach about Nigeria's political architecture. I do so from a deep understanding of how the country (you could say, mere piece of land) functions. Until you grasp those things and tailor your plans accordingly, you will always end up screaming in the wind. There is nothing currently binding Nigerians in such a way that they will demonstrate to the death for national rebirth, thats just a wild dream. Any steps toward rebirth must be ordered, the chasms across the country must first be bridged, so that a Zamfara man has powerful bonds that are natural with a Bayelsa man.

I'm sure the US caused Gaddafi's madness too. Its a madness that has made him employ machine guns and heavy artillery against civilians. What sort of demon does that?
Where do they find these funny conspiracy theorists like cap28?

This is the picture of a mad man. No further evidence needed.

Latest gist is that the mad fool has scooted into exile. This is yet to be verified.
Tanks and other heavy weaponry are now in the hands of civilians in the newly liberated Benghazi.

Gaddafi looks every bit the fool and despotic Neanderthal that he is. I pray that he is caught alive and tried for his crimes in Libya. Does anyone remember how many Nigerians have been executed just for being illegal immigrants in Libya? That fvking mad brastard should be skewered over a slow fame.

As alkready pointed out you need funds to start infrastructure. Also some Nigerian universities and institutes actually do perform some sort of research. Its not just the sort you see in the "developed" world
Thats a fact, there's the likes of FIIRO at Oshodi, PRODA in Enugu, the vaccine research institute in Vom and a host of others.

Research could also go into empowering our traditional ways of life, e.g. Bida brassworks, leather works at Naraguta, leather and textile dyeing in Kano, raffia works in the delta, cane weaving in Lagos etc.
There is no reason why we can't research into helping rural cooperatives export canned edi ka ikong, jollof rice, banga soup, ukodo, kunu, moi moi, nsala etc.

A by product of setting up formal research structures will be the developmental institutions that will spring to life as a way of transferring, storing, protecting, publicising and popularising research findings.

Research is the bedrock of economic and industrial development. We shouldn't be wasting time arguing if its necessary, rather we should be thinking of ways to hold GEJ to his word; this is one policy that must come to fruition.
