Politics › Re: Femi Otedola, Sue The House Of Reps For N1trn by Beaf: 4:01pm On Jun 16, 2012
pro01: Again I would ask: how could Lawan be so FOOLISH to blackmail someone as influential as Femi Otedola, let alone when Otedola is not even among the beneficiaries of subsidy funds? I can't imagine that someone with Lawan's experience in high level politics - being the longest serving House of Reps Member - can be so foolish. Pure suicide on his part.

I can Imagine how much bribe the really guilty barons like Ifeanyi Uba (Capital Oil), Tonye Cole (Sahara Oil), etc. would have paid.
It is because he is repping for the subsidy cabal who want to get GEJ out by all means come 2015. They are scared that their oil block whose licenses will expire between 2016 and 2018 will not be renewed by GEJ, cos he is from the Niger Delta. The cabal succeeded in fooling the people into thinking they were the good guys, but GEJ is quiet and very coded, he simply set a trap and maintained silence. Until today, GEJ is denying he had no hand in it. Coding, bro. cool

This matter is still very far from over. I thank God that there is someone like GEJ as President today; someone who looks like he doesn't know what people are up to, while employing heavy "maths" and "science" on them in the background. Lol!

Let me remind NL that the cabal are those who got their oil blocks from IBB, Abacha (and Buhari), and Abdulsalam. These people (less than 100) make more money per year than the entire Niger Delta, yet are surrounded by almajiri's and extending their proboscis across Nigeria to suck the blood out of the man in the street. For the country to be free, the grip of their tentacles has to be calmly loosened - their influence is everywhere; police, army, customs, govt, NASS...

Aluta!

Did I not say it yesterday that the house of reps would be marooned with legal battles due to their connivance in Farouks extortion? What we saw the den of fuckers do yesterday, was simply spit on our collective moral sensibilities. This is the beginning of the end.

I suggest a brand new subsidy probe under the leadership of known upright citizens like Hajia Najatu Muhammed, Olisa Agbakoba, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Colonel Umar etc.

Thanks a lot, bro.

I really applaud the spirit of this thread. It's ideals are farsighted and really encouraging, I have to plot a way to do this for the SS too. Lol!
If all regions are able to form grassroots pressure groups, we would soon ram the voice of the man on the street through the ears of the man in Abuja.
So far, I gather that the purpose is to:

1. Sensitise the grassroots.
2. Campaign for certain developmental projects.
3. Keep the eye of a halk on elected local/regional representatives.

It is the only way to bring about meaningful change to the people and once again, I applaud and encourage it. At some future date, people like me would be most interested in keying in.

I totally understand your stand on this thread, but at the same time i have to point out your approach to ogugua could be better.

I'm not particularly close to her and I'm just as surprised by her approval of my post as anyone else (just so you dont think that's why I'm typing this), but i think you were a little too over the top in the way you responded to her presence here.

I'm aware in the general cultural setting, only "verified" and "vetted" members are allowed to participate in meetings such as the one you called for with this thread, which is to say anyone considered an "outsider" or who isnt approved of by the members of the particualr group, isnt expected to make any contribution when matters affecting the home area are being discussed.

However, the analogous "home area' in this instance in nairaland, a web based forum inculcating members from different walks of life and different regions. The hallmark of an effective leader is the ability to work with different and varying levels within his constituency. Some will even appoint people from the opposing faction, to work with them.

I can only summarize my points right now, so what I'm trying to say is, what would be expedient to do is not cut ogugua off because she has a viewpoint you dont approve of, but rather you should try to inculcate areas which you see as her strengths into your proposal (or cabinet for want of a better word), in a way that can be of benefit to what you stated in the opening post of this thread.

You can put her in charge of something- (media, networking, etc, whatever), instead of blocking her completely out and not listening to her opinion. She may be young but that doesnt mean she cant have something to say even if you disagree with it.
Tpia, seriously speaking, I am impressed with your output in this post. Why don't you post like this all the time?
Please, keep it up.

Gbawe: My guy, you can say what you want. The entire forum knows I am not an extrovert or 'busy-body' when it comes to the affairs of other ethnic groups. Even you, unless you now want to take to lying shamelessly, will admit I am never ever on these sort of thread for anyone to even be able to remotely label me as wanting to "score cheap points off Igbos as usual".

Make me an Igbo-hater if you want but the truth bears this out to be a figment of your paranoid mind. I defend my ethnic group but, unlike you and many others in your mould, I always stay on my side of the fence and never attack any ethnic group here on this forum. In fact the reasons I avoid any topic to do with Igbos on NL is because the Igbos here are simply paranoid plus over-sensitive like yourself and only looking to confirm the hatred against them in the writing of every Yoruba person. This is why Afam4eva can say I hate Igbos because I used an i instead of a capital letter when I wrote Igbo. How twisted is that? A typo error is now conclusive proof of bigotry!!!! That was a personal lesson for me that most of you on this forum simply want to forcefully insist every Yoruba person hates you. It became obvious many of you are here to increase e-fighting and enmity with other ethnic group becuase of whatever unresolved issues your are grappling with. To that end, I avoid you all .

That said, I cannot stand needless bullying and that is the only reason I speak here. If you want to keep fooling yourself I speak here for whatever reasons take the fancy of your paranoid delusions ,when the archives show I give you guys and your topics a very wide berth, please be my guest.
I'm taking my time to read through this entire thread and frankly am irritated by the continious stream of smug hypocrisy you have been spewing like an out of control fountain. Perhaps you are too thick to understand that everyone see's through you.

Pathetic.

Dude, I was invited here by an NLer, noiseless; otherwise, I would mind my business and go by without interupting. You on the other hand, think it is your duty to talk down to others from other ethnicities; a raging poison and tragic volumes of disrespect flow through your words which are as hate-filled and bitter as always.

Desist.

Please allow others enjoy the thread without your constant interjections of idiocy. Thank you.

tunapawizzy: The dishonourable legislators know one of their own is already down n what they are trying to do is to take the otedola down along with farouk. Its not gona be easy for them though. In Nigeria the President is d Almighty. D kind of system we run is faulty..d president can do and undo. Telling efcc to investigate otedola is like telling goodluck to investigate himself. As it is d worst the house can do is to threaten gej with impeachment moves if e doesn't act on d recommendation but I doubt they can successfully pull dt joker, because DavidMark and d useless idiots in d senate are all in gej's pocket. It looks like they will amicably settle dis thing thru deir demonic PDP family affair. People dis people will continue to rape us..I believe our only chance is 2015. Let's kick dis demonic association called pdp out of power. PDP is evil...we will never grow with them in power. Oilblock contracts will be renewed between 2015 n 2019..if we let them stay beyond 2015, we are in for it in dis country. TY danjuma alone has 2 oilblocks, abebe family (obasanjo's inlaw) have stakes in one, this people have shared our common wealth yet we go still dey vote for dem, farouk/otedola issue na game dem dey use us play. Farouk is using us to strategize for hausa presidency in 2015, otedola is trying to render dem useless for goodluck so dat gej will pay him back with oil block. People let's open our eyes, PDP is evil, ths their bribery wahala will be settled amicably, mark my words...but let's not forget our weapon is 2015... PDP must go
Did you watch the video showing Farouk asking the house to remove Otedola's companies after he had receifed the bribe?
Not a single rep said "Nay," despite many coming from ACN, CPC and other parties.

I'm tired of hearing this id!otic "get rid of PDP" nonsense when all are the same. Its just an excuse not to tackle the system that sits on the head of the man in the street to swell the pockets of a few (whether ACN, PDP, CPC, APGA, LP, DPP, ANPP etc).

I'm sick of seeing such unintelligent posts. angry

PointB: ^^^
Pa Eziachi, I agree with you that Lamido is an opportunistic politician. I have no doubt that he belongs to the class of politician who seek power for the sake of it; with no clear idea of how to serve his constituency. That said, some of these political parties are no different fron the PDP which they seek to replace.
Sule Lamido is one of the best governors in Nigeria today.

He is right about the opposition parties too, they tend to be avenues for hate-filled failures to express themselves as hatefully as they know best.
Approach could be more cilvilised from the opposition parties that have the same (or worse) moral failings as the PDP.

PeeDaVinci: and what about the marketers that paid their bribes before the initial report was presented to the house? how would they know them and include them in the list of firms to be investigated. i think this whole thing is a sham and shame. i would suggest we contract this probe out to a foreign firm with proven integrity and good forensic scientists to help figure out who stole wat
No need for that, I would suggest handing it over to upright citizens like Wole Soyinka and Olisa Agbakoba. People who are totally independent of govt and who are fully invested in a positive future for Nigeria.

thegoodjoehunt: The demonstrations was †☺ fight against a scam called the subsidy And the case at hand shows that the subsidy figures may be a scam.

How does this incident make the demonstrations wrong?
No, the demo's and riots only showed people who were too selfish to even reason straight before rushing out unto the streets to shoot themselves in the foot. It is the foolishness of the people that empowered the likes of Lawan to drive the screw in even more.
There cannot be anything more tragic than a man desperately fighting to death to help his enemies overcome both himself and his family.

With #Occupy, which was masterminded by El-Rufai in coalition with two political parties and the oil cabal, we have seen how easy it is to fool the Nigerian populace; cos just like Farouk, they too have a price for their souls and those of their kids. In this case, the price is N65 per litre.

Unfortunate.

It is always better to rise above primal instict and apply cold logic to such matters. Today, we have seen the cold, hard, barren rock on which the absence of application of logic has placed us. Just a couple of months ago, the house of rep seemed like the knight in shining armour, riding in to save the beleaguered public... Yet, in the strangest of twists this afternoon, that same house spat on our collective sensibilities and rallied behind Farouk. They played a confidence trick on you, got your trust and then phucked you.
Tell me who has turned out the fool? Tell me who should have listened to wise words in the first place. Tell me who has been scammed.

...Some people even died.

Dude, we are better of using that subsidy money outside the petroleum sector. End the subsidy, then privatise the petroleum sector. Govt can do more with that money in agriculture, education, R & D, transport etc etc.
Wouldn't that have been a better bargain? Even if someone decides to play a smart one with such a system, the difference is stark; instead of the dark, opaque, mafia-like operations of the subsidy, we would have gotten a system that was open to scrutiny and accountable. Now, what do we have? Same old corruption fuckry, with the "saviour" reps now openly spitting on us. embarassed

I'm even starting to think the subsidy fraud might be higher than what farouk lawan's committee reported, giving his alleged compromise.
What is happening now is good argument for the entire subsidy to be removed.
