I don't know about other countries but once in Canada the people who did it would dispose of the passport once they touch Canadian soil, then claim asylum. You'll get legal council if you can't afford it, a court date, and papers to work until further notice. Then you go from there.

This is a positive thread especially for those whose have no means of relocating abroad but are looking for something about this country worth holding on to.

I see a lot of negativity on here whereas in real life I know many young people making it here. Is it that some people are too blind to see the opportunities down here or am I missing something. One thing I know is that you can actually just wake up and start a business here if you have capital. There aren't many bottlenecks you will face to begin. See how Seun and Linda Ikeji are making it? That's how others are too.

Another thing is that life is easier when you live in less populated areas, so why does everyone seem to be moving towards Abuja, Lagos or port Harcourt?

For me I like our religious nature, it's difficult to remain a committed Christian abroad another thing is that I like the variety of our food.

Wat I love about Nigeria is the community spirit. Everyone seem to know everyone in some communities.

Am going to address a few of ur statements , Money is not everything. U seem to think pple are leaving because they want more money but that's not true. Am not rich where I am.

Some of us left so we can enjoy the bare necessities of life. Clean water, security good health care , unadulterated food and drugs.

The problem is not only resources but the pple. They don't care who dies it's all about Money. I went to Nigeria in march took 2 of my children with me. I wanted to make sure they were safe so I only gave them Eva water but they still had serious diarrhoea everywhere we went my son will use their toilet .

It was toward the end of ur trip that I realised that the bottles were refills. Can u imagine? If one of my kids had died I would be in prison by now not considering am the grieving mother.

As for security, pls don't think about stunt guns, if robbers know u are are armed the will be more ruthless with u.

And as for we being more religious, that hasn't helped. We are more evil than none religious nations. Think of the Scandinavian countries compare their crime rate to ours.

Then again how many kids can u feed? How many pple with horrible diseases begging on the high way can u pay for? Dats why I feel sorry for them, it's either they don't see it anymore or they have sleepness night thinking about it.

There are a lot of people that are serving God zealously today and striving so much to live a perfect life, in terms of holiness. Some of such people will tell you that they always love to excel at anything they set their mind to do, and if they were not serving God, they might have being thugs or criminals, and if that were the case, they would have just put the same effort in making sure they are as wicked a thug or criminal as it was possible to be.

Imagine that you are a Christian or Muslim today and you decide to live in line with the preaching of peace, holiness, helping each other and giving to the needy. What do you stand to lose at the end of it all. You will still be living a happy and fulfilled life.

The bottom line is that there are fewer thugs and criminals today because of religions that preach the existence of a God that punishes such behaviour. It has therefore made the world a more peaceful place for you.

And finally, what if at the end of it all, you find out there is a God, you will stand to lose a lot more.

You have to realize OP's opinion are one-sided and ignorant. To begin with everyone's destiny is not the same. If you apply for a job and don't get it, does that mean I shouldn't at least apply ? But what OP fails to mention is that unless your parent(s) are wealthy business people or politicians, you're not likely getting a visa. So what do these people do ? Stay and continue to sell pure water, while making 1 US dollar per day with no real future or hope ? I'd rather take a chance at abroad. Even if I get deported, I can live with failure, but I cannot live with not trying. Secondly, nobody is trapped abroad unless they commit a crime. These people are doing every possible not to return to Nigeria, because believe me, these countries would gladly deport them back to naija. Lastly, everyone is putting down these prostitutes like naija no get prostitutes and it isn't the main line of work for unemployed young woman in the country. At least the ashewo's in Italy are collecting Euro's oppose to naira. In this situation nobody should look before leaping, because the worse thing that can happen is that you land back in Nigeria.

It will be easier for the elite to get visas because they can show they have strong ties to the country.... wouldn't abscond and let their businesses fail et c. But that doesn't mean others can't get visas as well. One good way is to travel to other countries... even in Africa itself first to establish a travel history... which would indicate you just love to travel and visit other countries. If US or Canada or I talk is your first choice... then why wouldn't the VO think you are trying to go to hustle? My friend is a nobody... and had no problem getting a US Visa using this method... travelled twice and returned. ..and would have no problem getting a visa to Italy, Canada, Australia or any country ...because of the resume.

Yeah , your friend is fortunate to be able to travel around to establish his travel history but una family where they are selling their only piece of land for the first son to travel, u wouldn't expect them to first go to Ghana or Liberia to establish history, their first thought would be the final destination.

Life for the poor is so difficult, if only these foreign countries know how pple scrape together to apply for visas they won't be rejecting applications them for the flimsiest of reasons.
