The Nasarawa State Government has been called upon by the physically challenged students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), to fulfill a pledge made to them by the government. The Governor Abdullahi Sule-led administration made it a policy to grant free tertiary education to all atypical students in all the State’s owned tertiary institution, but according to Mr Sunday Musa, one of the physically challenged students in the state, “the disabled students of the institution still pay their fees to the university despite the fact that all disabled students studying in tertiary institutions owned by the state government are exempted from making such payment.” He made this known at a Disability Advocacy held at the Senate Chamber of the University in Keffi. The physically challenged students tabled their concerns at the Chamber, they sent pleas to the state Governor to intervene and ensure that the tuitions they have paid already are refunded. They also pleaded that adequate measures should be put in place to avoid the troubles which the challenged students have been passing through regarding payment of tuitions. Without a doubt, the free education policy for the physically challenged students is a welcome development as it would ease the burden of the challenged students but more important is the implementation of this policy and for the government to follow through by ensuring that these funds are provided as at when due. This was corroborated by the leader of the Disability Advocacy Team who said that “the state Governor has mapped out a working plan towards assisting the physically challenged who are either in school or in the informal sector.” The Vice-Chancellor of NSUK, Professor Suleiman Muhammed through his representative reassured the physically challenged students that conscious efforts are being made by the institution to ensure that they ease the hardship faced by the students. Such efforts include the provision of special means of mobility in any storey building in the institution for all physically challenged students. He concluded by encouraging them to not hesitate in reporting anyone who maltreats them on campus to the Management. The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Mohammad, has condemned in unequivocal terms, the growing rate of criminal activities which are being carried out by students in Nigerian institutions nowadays. Tanko who was the recipient of an honorary Doctorate Degree in Law and Doctorate of Business Administration over the weekend at the convocation ceremony of Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, said that it is heartbreaking and demoralizing to see young students get themselves involved in illicit acts of violence, kidnapping, ritual killings, internet fraud, armed robbery, drug trafficking and other vices. “It is a trend that must, as a matter of urgency, be nipped in the bud. If our most cherished future leaders are allowed to wallow in such dangerous and inimical ventures, then the future looks very bleak.” His statement is not unconnected to the increasing rate of illegal activities which has clearly permeated the Nigerian polity and which now constitutes a worrisome trend that needs to be curbed before it destroys the larger percentage of the Nigerian youths. “Our hope rests on you and you must not let us down. My candid advice to you is to avoid acts capable of smearing our reputation.” He added. Source: https://www.thenewsplot.com/2019/10/28/increasing-rate-of-criminality-among-students-lamentable-cjn/

Yesterday, Samsung took to Twitter to tease the next Exynos chipset. The tweet did not reveal much about the chipset. However, we got some interesting keywords. Samsung included a video in the tweet. We expect a new flagship chip from the company, considering the labels “new frontier” and “cutting-edge processor”. Samsung Foundry already completed work on the development of 5nm EUV chips earlier this year. We expect these to come in 2020. Samsung claims that these chips will come with 25% better silicone density. It will also feature 20% lower power consumption and 10% higher performance while drawing the same power. There are already rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S11 will feature the 5nm chipset. This will be the new Exynos or the next Snapdragon. We expect Qualcomm to use TSMC for the next Snapdragon. TSMC will also likely offer 5nm chips in 2020. Already, there have been rumors of Samsung being ready to unveil the Exynos 9630. This is a mid-range chipset. The company may unveil this at the Samsung Tech Day 2019 Conference which starts today. So, we may not necessarily get the 5nm chipset today. However, it’s only a matter of time before we do, as we look forward to the launch of the Galaxy S11 next year. Xiaomi plans to offer 5G connectivity to devices ranging from high-end to mid-range and low-end phones. A report by Reuters has it that Jun revealed this while speaking at the World Internet Conference in China. We also got wind that the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G’s success greatly influenced this decision. The Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G was reportedly so successful that it led to inventory issues, exceeding expectations. According to Jun, “People in the industry fear that next year 4G models won’t sell, this is a step you have no choice but to take. Nokia 8.2 is reportedly coming as the successor to HMD Global’s Nokia 8.1. The most interesting highlight of the Nokia 8.2 is that it will support 5G connectivity. Reports have it that this device will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 735 chipset. This is interesting, considering many recently launched devices opted for Snapdragon 855+. Some of these include the OnePlus 7T Pro, the nubia Red Magic 3s, and the Black Shark 2 Pro. The Snapdragon 735 chipset that the Nokia 8.2 will feature will be a successor to the Snapdragon 730. It may be based on a 7nm process for better power efficiency. According to Nokiapoweruser, this chipset will bring the next-generation AI Engine. It will come with improvements to performance and gaming. These are likely areas that HMD is considering in making the decision to go for the 735 in the Nokia 8.2. We expect the Nokia 8.2 5G to come in three variants. We will likely get it in 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. This would make it the first Nokia phone to debut with 8GB RAM. It will run Android Q out of the box. Some of the leaks and rumors of the Nokia 8.2 5G suggest a premium build. it will reportedly come with a quad-camera setup on the rear. This may include a 64MP primary shooter. The phone is also tipped to come with a 32MP pop-up camera. This would also be the first time we’re seeing a pop-up camera on a phone from HMD Global. HMD Global launched the Nokia 8.1 last year, but we do not yet have word on the launch date of the Nokia 8.2. Talks about foldable smartphones have been the rave for quite some time. From Samsung’s foldable phone to Huawei’s, to LG’s, there have been leaks and rumors. One of the most recently talked about foldable smartphones is Motorola’s RAZR 2019. For a long time, we have been waiting for Motorola to unveil this device. Now, it appears we do not have to wait much longer. https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Motorola-RAZR-2019-foldable-smartphone-renders-3-smartphonecamp-1024x730.jpg There is a good reason for us to believe that Motorola will unveil the RAZR 2019 on November 13. The company has started sending out media invites for a November 13 event. This event will take place in downtown Los Angeles. On the invite, we see a GIF that shows the old RAZR’s hinge. After this, what could be the hinge of the foldable RAZR comes up. There are other reasons for us to believe that Motorola will unveil the RAZR 2019 at the November 13 event. The invite includes the phrase “You’re going to flip”. It also says that the event would feature the “highly anticipated unveiling of a reinvented icon”. Both of these hint at the likely unveiling of the foldable RAZR phone. At the moment, Motorola is yet to reveal much information about the foldable RAZR phone. However, we have an idea of what to expect based on rumors and leaked renders. RAZR 2019 Foldable Smartphone Rumored Specifications and Price https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Motorola-RAZR-2019-foldable-smartphone-renders-2.jpg Rumor has it that the RAZR 2019 will feature two displays. Back in July 2017, Microsoft stopped working on Windows Phone 8.1. At this point, phones running the outdated OS stopped getting software updates. Now, Microsoft is about to pull the plug and completely shut down the app store. The company will put this in place starting December 16, 2019. From that day, you will no longer be able to download apps. This means that if you uninstall an app, you will no longer be able to download it from the store. Even apps that you already have will no longer be available once you lose them. Not only will you be unable to download apps, but you will also be unable to update the apps you already have. Some of your apps will also possibly suffer degraded functionality. This is because Microsoft’s services are also shutting down. If you have a Lumia model that can be updated to Windows 10 Mobile, this is a good time to do that. But even official support for Windows 10 Mobile is ending too. In fact, it has already ended for some devices. However, the good news is that the app store will remain operational. You will need the PC updater tool or the Upgrade Advisor app on your phone to install the Windows 10 Mobile update. If you intend to use the Upgrade Advisor app, then you should download it before December 16. Find the list of affected phones here. Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 10 in August 2019. The device came with a feature that converts handwriting to text in the Galaxy Notes app. Samsung promised that the handwriting-to-text feature would come to other phones with the OneUI 2.0 beta. The company did not give an exact timeline for this, but now, we have the feature. Users of the Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy Note 8 smartphones now have the feature. It apparently came to the devices as an upgrade today. Reports have it that you can get the feature even without the need for an S pen as long as your phone can upgrade the Samsung Notes app to version 3.1.04.16. With just your finger, you can write on your device. https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-handwriting-to-text-2.jpg It is however of note that the feature is not coming to all devices. But this might simply be a temporary market limitation. The handwriting-to-text feature does more than just convert words. It can also export the text to a Microsoft Word file. You can zoom in and out while creating a note. You also get more styles to choose from in handwriting mode. Would you like to check if your Galaxy Notes app has this handwriting-to-text feature? Then, go to the About page of the app and update it to version 3.1.04.16 to enjoy this original Galaxy Note 10 feature. Many smartphone brands now go for the full-screen front design. We see this especially in high-end to mid-range devices. But what about the low-end devices? Well, Xiaomi appears to have a pretty cool solution in the works with its latest patent. https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Xiaomi-patents-corner-selfie-camera-design.jpg In the patent listing, we see a smartphone design with a front camera crammed somewhere in the upper corner of the front panel. The cutout for this camera seems to be smaller than the current punch-hole setup we see in many devices. As seen in some of the pictures, this cutout may not even be necessary. https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Xiaomi-patents-corner-selfie-camera-design-2.jpg At first glance, this setup may look strange. However, considering how multiple-camera setups came to be on the rear of devices, we may eventually see the same happen with front cameras. If or when this happens, then Xiaomi’s solution may really come in handy. Source: https://smartphonecamp.com/xiaomi-patents-top-corner-selfie-camera-design/

Meizu 16T is coming on October 23 with a triple-camera setup. This includes a 12MP shooter, a 10MP shooter, and a 5MP shooter. As usual, with the launch imminent, we are getting more and more details of the device. The latest we have now is a camera sample of the device. Hua Hailang, VP at the company, has afforded us a first camera sample of the Meizu 16T. The image was taken at night in the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. What we find very impressive about the image is the beauty of the colors. The image shows very impressive colors. https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-camera-sample-smartphonecamp-1024x768.jpg Coming with a 12MP resolution, the shot was definitely taken with the main shooter. The people in the center of the image appear blurry. This usually happens when the shutter stays open for a long time to let more light in, while objects are moving. So, we believe that the camera was in Night Mode to take the shot. The Meizu 16T will go official in less than two weeks. Back in June, Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun made some clarifications about the company’s strategy for its product lines. The Mi series would continue its focus on flagship components and the latest innovations. The Redmi line, on the other hand, was to deliver phones with the best possible value for money. Asides from the product lines strategy, the post also confirmed that there were no plans for the Mi Note and Mi Max series for this year. However, we now have reason to believe that that might have changed. According to a new tweet by Ice Universe, then the Mi Note series might be coming back soon. In fact, we may get the Mi Note 10 as early as the end of October. Leaks by Ice Universe are usually accurate, so you probably should really really expect the Note 10 soon. The Mi Note 3 is the last model from the Mi Note series, and it was released over two years ago. So, it will actually be interesting to see the series come back. The first two generations of the Mi Note offered upper-midrange and flagship specifications. They also came with large (for the time) screens. However, Xiaomi toned down on the specifications and screen size with the Mi Note 3. https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Xiaomi-Mi-Note-3-smartphonecamp.jpg Since then, the Redmi line has been quite popular. We have seen new models of the Redmi with varying specifications. The latest in the series is the Redmi 8 which was just unveiled with a 5,000mAh battery. For now, we await official information from Xiaomi to confirm if the Mi Note series is really coming back. Earlier this year, Apple bought Intel’s modem business. This was so as to develop another piece of its hardware in-house. Apparently, Apple does not want to be dependent on partners and their pace of research and development. An inside source has just revealed that Apple’s own 5G modem will not come to iPhones before 2022. This means that there’s still probably a lot of work to be done. At the moment, Qualcomm is Apple’s chipset supplier. The chip manufacturer already promised to deliver 5G modems for next year’s iPhones. However, Apple wants to continue on its own, considering the issues between the two companies in recent times. Apple has already started its own Research and Development team for RF modems and chips. This team is based in San Diego, same as Qualcomm’s Headquarters. The inside source has revealed that 2022 is Apple’s optimistic target. Even after fabrication, there will be testing, optimization, and certification. There is also the domestic FCC. Apple’s main target is to have an integrated 5G modem in the chip to lower power consumption. However, the company will reportedly create both components separately for the 2022 iPhones. The integrated platform will likely be available in 2023. Earlier in August, Samsung unveiled the Exynos 980 with integrated 5G modem. We expect it to appear in smartphones by the end of the year. Huawei’s integrated Kirin 990 5G chipset is also already available in the Mate 30 5G and Mate 30 Pro 5G. We are looking forward to seeing Apple’s. Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi 8, two weeks after launching the Redmi 8a. More recently, we got news that the company was working on a phone capable of recording 8K video at 30fps. Now, according to information from XDA Developers, Xiaomi may have put up a 120Hz display option in the first MIUI 11 Beta that is out. With this setting, we can comfortably say that the Chinese phone maker is working on a phone with a refresh rate up to 120Hz. Up until now, we only saw this on gaming phones. https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Xiaomi-Display-Refresh-Rate-Toggle-1024x576.jpg The high refresh rate display is not the only improvement we see. It appears Xiaomi is also working on improved telephoto sensors on its upcoming devices. In the camera app menu of MIUI 11, we see support for a new telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom. Not just that, there is also an ultra-telephoto mode with up to 50x digital zoom. https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Xiaomi-5x-Telephoto-and-50x-Zoom-1024x672.jpg We do not yet know if the same phone which will offer 8K video recording at 30fps will also come with the 120Hz refresh rate and 5x telephoto camera. Google has started test production of a 5G-connected Pixel phone. Nikkei Asian Review says the information came from insiders. The device in question is different from the Google Pixel 4 lineup. The Pixel 4 lineup is already in mass production and only features 4G connectivity. Google will unveil the lineup next week and it will be ready for shipping. The Pixel 5G, on the other hand, might not be unveiled next week. In fact, it is possible that it will not be unveiled this year. According to the sources, Google could wait until spring to unveil the device. We expect to see the affordable Pixel 4a too at that time. The test production of the Pixel 5G is happening in China. However, we have information that the manufacture of the units destined for the US market will take place somewhere else. This is to avoid the trade war, and Vietnam is the most probable option. https://www.smartphonecamp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Google-Pixel-5G-2-smartphonecamp.jpg At the moment, Pixel has about 0.5% share in the market. Google is reportedly planning to double the 2018 shipments to 10 million units. If Google indeed launches the Pixel 5G next spring, then that would put it ahead of Apple in terms of launch of a 5G device. Apple won’t renew its premium lineup until September 2020. The rumored SE sequel that may come before then certainly won’t have 5G. Source: https://www.smartphonecamp.com/google-is-reportedly-working-on-a-5g-pixel-phone/

Earlier this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S10 to much acclaim. The year has not yet come to an end but we are already getting rumors about the Galaxy S11. We expect the S11 to launch next year. Reports have it that Samsung will soon receive test sockets for the Galaxy S11 periscope camera. These are manufactured by MecaTech Systems, a fellow Korean company. MecaTech makes both regular smartphone cameras and periscope cams. The company also makes ToF modules. A test socket is used to carry out a final check of the hardware before the manufacturer starts shipping components. If older leaks and rumors are anything to go by, then the Galaxy S11 will feature a 108MP sensor. This is inside a module by Samsung Electro-Mechanics. According to the rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S11 will come with 5x optical zoom instead of a midway focal length – say, 3x zoom. One recent and curious rumor has it that Samsung’s new flagship will also feature a spectrometer. This will analyze the chemical composition of objects. So, it will, for example, be able to estimate the calorie content of food. Source: https://www.smartphonecamp.com/samsung-will-soon-start-testing-the-galaxy-s11-periscope-camera/

Google launched Android 10 in early September 2019. This Android version came as a successor to last year’s Android 9. Now, Google has confirmed that all Android phones launched after January 31, 2020, must run the new OS. Only if an OEM has provided a build, based on the latest Android 10 will Google authorize the use of GMS. This information was gotten from XDA Developers, and it will take effect next year. This new move by Google is to make sure that all manufacturers will provide up-to-date software to their users. In addition, Google will be able to issue timely security updates. The documentation states that builds must be approved before January 31. This means that it is technically possible for a phone to launch after that date with an older Android version as long as its software was ready before then. One major exception is the Mate 30 series. As a result of the Huawei-US trade ban, this device is launching across the globe without Android. The GMS basically includes Google Play Store and Services that come with all phones outside of China. The OnePlus 7T Pro is one of the most looked-forward-to phones right now. We have already seen various leaked renders of the device, and it is indeed beautiful. It looks similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro. New alleged renders of the device have just surfaced online, and it lines up with what we already had. We got the new renders via a Twitter post by tipster Ishan Agarwal. Agarwal captioned the images in the tweet: "Some Very High Quality Renders of the OnePlus 7T Pro ‘Haze Blue’ colour option. Doesn’t look much different from the OnePlus 7 Pro Nebula Blue. Do you like it? Want the High Res Wallpaper? #OnePlus7TPro #OnePlus7TSeries #OnePlus7T #OnePlus" Find the link to the tweet here. Not really different from the OnePlus 7 Pro, the OnePlus 7T Pro will feature a vertically stacked triple-camera setup. It will come with a full-screen display, suggesting a pop-up camera housing. The new renders show the device in a so-called Haze Blue color scheme. Now, if what is under the hood of the OnePlus 7T is anything to go by, then we can expect the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC in the Pro version too. We can also expect a 90Hz OLED screen and Warp Charge 30T fast-charging technology. We will keep you updated with more information about the OnePlus 7T Pro as soon as we get it. The device may be coming to India on October 10. Source: https://www.smartphonecamp.com/oneplus-7t-pro-more-renders-leak-showing-a-oneplus-7t-lookalike/
