You definitely don't know what you are talking about.I am a prospective geologist in his finals.I know lots of petroleum Engineering graduates that have nothing doing at hand cause pet engineering as a course is highly streamlined. The reality on ground is that WHAT YOU STUDY IN NAIJA DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE.
NAIJA DON SPOIL PASS THAT LEVEL.

Someone else agrees with me too. PE as first degree is a trap!!!
I'm in my finals and found out late,no one really told me about how difficult getting a job is,only concentrated on getting a fat pay even though it's true buy where are the jobs?

I intend on running my afters ASAP on either chemical engineering or Geophysics.

It's better to start with chemical engineering.

Chemical engineering is wry better than PE for first degree.

Those quoting me saying I should graduate first and apply for jobs lol. Mechanical engineers have more than 60% of PE jobs. It's easier for a ME to get a job than a PE...infact it's almost the same for all engineering discipline the only difference is PE having a better base payment but the fact remains that there are very few PE jobs as compared to others.

I'll say it again, PE is a no-no for a first degree.

Lordkratus:
it is. A very very bad idea , I am a geologist and being in this field for years bro, advice him to write jamb and reapply for petroleum engineering or production engineering. It will serve him better

Petroleum Engineering is shi.t
He's better off with geology/Geophysics. There are little to no jobs in the oil industry. PE is too streamlined,I'll never advise anyone to study PE as a first degree. I'm studying PE and in my finals and I know better now, wish I had someone to put me through earlier on.

I repeat PE as first degree is a trap!!!

And I didn't mention sediments and went straight to oil migration, even if I did, I can discuss sediments and discuss oil migration, I'm not giving u a process. That been said, I only mentioned sediments because the north is mostly basement complex, it has nothing to do with the concept oil migration I introduced, Read it again and please point out errors if you find any

First things first, what are sediments? factors that influence sedimentation?

No particular location has peculiar sediments indigenous to that location, sediments from place to place and compaction takes place. You know weathering process aid sediment of which water is a major agent of weathering so no need ruling out the impact of the Rivers in HC sedimentation and accumulation. This same reason is why the ND is reach in HC resources.

My point is,the imo shale you mentioned earlier didn't become a source rock overnight so the Igbos shouldn't see it as a change in the direction of the tide even though it could be. I'm from Rivers State by the way so I know why I'm clearing this up ( I know you think I'm from the north).

Someone already pointed out I was rude and I'm deeply sorry.

It's not a guess I studied geology. Lemme clear you, temperature, timing, rock formations are enssential for occurrence of petroleum. The north is basement complex (meaning they don't have sediments to support accumulation of oil and or gas, even if by miracle they do, they still don't have source rock to generate the oil. Oil moves from Akata(imo shale) to Agbada formations in the Niger Delta basin, Anambra basin has nanka formation but the noth has got Dahomey, bida, Chad basins which are baren with hydrocarbon), too Rocky for oil and gas. South East is a sweet spot for gas, the most favorable zone for huge gas deposit. Please let's be guided, don't choose hate over knowledge

You mentioned sediments and went straight to oil migration from akata to agbada. Which is deeper? The Rivers niger and benue played no part in hydrocarbon sedimentation and accumulation?

Armchair geologist!!

Ovbigbo - The original name given to it by the indigenous Ogoni people is OYIGBO and had been part of Rivers from time immemorial even before the creation of Abia State. Later, the IBO settlers converted the name from Oyigbo to Obigbo. All those areas (Abia, Rivers and Bayelsa ) are oil and gas areas. There is no need dragging lands with each other.

Owerri is the first place Shell Camp was built before it was relocated to Port Harcourt. The Shell Camp is opposite Alvan Ikoku College of Education. That shows that Shell started commercial exploration around Owerri.

The well never got past completion and later proved to be marginal

Don’t say this bro.

We should be cautious of the kind of comments we make in public to avoid been seen as people with no restraint.

The effects of Vandalization of gas pipelines is not the same as Crude.
Where do you think UGM has been more active in Owerri, Imo State capital than any other place?

All these katakata in Imo, Anambra and Abia States have a very big political undertone connected to the topic of discussion here.

Currently, the Fulani government of Nigeria is ahead of the South East in this game of socio-economic shenanigans.

We have to pipe down, allow the development of this gas production facilities with severe monitoring from an uncompromisable team. When all these is done, then we sit down and discuss how this development benefits people of interest.

We have to come together now or never!
More importantly, We Igbos have gone beyond the struggle of groups like IPOB and all its factions. A people of about 50 million should put up political resistance group more sound than IPOB.
Their tactics will only leave us in regrettable ruins. Diplomacy and a touch of astute pressure groups and maybe a very well trained guerrilla group if necessary, will be better than the tactics being deployed by IPOB.

We cannot destroy our lands because ordinary Fulani and Hausa man wants to tap out gas. We are more sophisticated than these people, we shouldn’t destroy ourselves because of them.

Peace.

You've spoken well...gas vandalism has worse effects...one wrong move and everyone around an area has turned to suya

My friend, this is a wild guess. Then by your guessing, the basins up north should have the largest gas reserves when temperature is factored in.

- erase the dot

He's correct to some extent but failed to point out some other parameters peculiar for that to happen. Most gas reserves can be as a result of overmaturation of an oil reserve. This occurs as a result of the exposure of the oil over high temperature and pressure for long periods of time. I don't have much time to say more about this so you can read up.

I don't know the kind brain you people have.
This has always been in existence. Minus the pressure from IPOB that exposed them, they have been siphoning it to another reserve or should I say another zone to make is look like it is from another state just like Anambra crude oil that Delta has been collecting loyalties from or that they wanted to push to Kogi. The governors are aware but can't say anything because of the nature through which they got to the post.
If not for Ipob, you won't see them saying this in public.

Please you can't siphon oil to another reserve..
It makes no economic sense

Did the technician change any internal components like transistor or something else?
Did you also confirm from the customer care if you account is running/active.

If the earlier is the case then that may have altered with the chip number used to activate the account resulting in you getting the "scrambled channel" message. You mentioned other fta channels are smooth right?

There was really no need for them to go on strike, maybe it was just for solidarity but they aren't affected. Same goes for Rivers State University too, they're no longer part of ASUU so don't go on strike and believe me we're loving it. The Governor has its shortcomings like lack of employment and promotion since he assumed power in the Rivers State civil service, not much projects under his belt apart from sprinkling flyovers here and there but he doesn't fail on the basics — payment of salaries and pensions. With the enormous resources and revenue Rivers State generates, he's expected to do better but in the present day Nigeria were mediocre Governors walk free, he seem to be doing so much.

Lol. Let me show you how I have owned you in this discuss.

First, you talked about how few Russian submarines are permanently stationed in the east and west coast of the US. I presented proof you that the supposed submarines patrolled several miles off US East coast, in international waters. Instead of you to show proof that Russian submarines are permanently stationed in US east and west coast as you alleged, you began blabbing. Russia Submarines stationed permanently in US east and west coast? How does that sound to you? Only this statement alone confirmed you are a clown!

On the contrary, there have been more incidence of US stealth submarines lurking close to and into Russia's territorial waters.

Then you talked about the Cuban missile crisis being a political brinkmanship. Fact was presented you that it was actually more of a military tactics than just political brinkmanship as you claimed.

Now you just wrote alot and said nothing. He said he wouldn't say anything about New Russian missiles and torpedos. Lol. It is the US that is not producing New military hardwares? Very funny human being! A country whose military budget is bigger than Russia's and China's combined will not be developing new weapons? Lol! What are the monies now used for? To drink beer abi grin.

Should I tell you the US recent advances in the military field? Talking about Russia torpedoes. Mtcheew!!! Even China and Russia are finding it difficult to keep up. Infact, the US have taken the battle to Space now, while still dominating the earth!

When have you heard of the US stealing Russia Military technology to make their weapons? But Russia is constantly involved in trying to steal US latest military technology, still they can't beat the best.

Even Putin and Russia knows that when it comes to military might, the US is number 1. Infact, the US doesn't think highly of Russia anymore. The greatest threat to their might is no longer Russia but China.

How come Russia always plead with the US anytime the US decides to leave their Nuclear treaties? The US is no longer renewing the open sky treat, now Putin is scared! grin

The number 1 Military super power in the world is the US. If you don't like this statement of fact, drink sniper! grin.

PS: we can actually do a comparision of each countries military capabilities (Air, sea, land).

Being the first to do something doesn't make you the best at it. Early missiles were developed by nazi Germany but today Russia has the beat ICBM around, they have a very good airforce too.

If Russia stations ICBM carrier between the NATO members borders trust me they'll back out. If an all out war breaks out, it will be between Russia and the US because these other nations have very little to no firepower.

Once again there would be no wars in the nearest future because the nations that matter posses weapons of check and balances.

Banning Twitter in Nigeria is a petty and thoughtless move by the FG. But then, in the first place, Twitter shouldn't have the power to delete a president's tweet (any president whatsoever).
The Nigerian government and Twitter have both equally erred!

You know why there hasn't been another world war? Because we have a few countries with weapons to keep others in check. Without checks, democracy is just a disguised dictatorship. Wonder why our National Assembly is a mess? Because it has become rubberstamped — no checks on the errs of the presidency whatsoever.

Twitter has rules and these rules are one of the little ways to keep these power hungry mo.fos in check.

I did marine engineering which is a specialised field of mechanical engineering and getting jobs was hell. If you are in your final year and have time start learning to code now. I used to use my free time in the university to watch movies and play games. I really regret doing that now.

So many people suggesting about coding, I feel in a few years the field would be saturated too. Everyone musn't code...you have any other alternatives? I'm really open to opinions.
