CHRISTIANITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH URBANISATION!!!
Infact, Religion in general is anti-development and anti-progressive.

It is a drug that must be eradicated for spirituality to subsist.

The great visionaries in USA, UK, Germany, China, etc are NOT CHRISTIANS!!! They are scientists who want to better their society.. Something we clearly lack in Nigeria!

The age of Christianity and the Church in Europe is called the "MEDIEVAL PERIOD" for a reason. Google that out.

Look at Galileo, Faraday, Einstein, Oppenheimer, Graham, Hawkings, Zuckerberg, etc and other world greatest minds- THEY ARE NOT CHRISTIANS!!! and these are the one who developed their nations simply because they are patriotic- something Nigerians clearly lack as well.
I am referring to activities in the past which set the foundation of what we see today.

Read this article and be enlightened from your ignorance so you can stop propagating it.

You failed to mention North Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Indians... Are these people christians too?
The early rulers of the world were the black Egyptians and they laid foundation for the world developments with existing monuments no one can explain how they came by. A lot of early inventors are atheists, and Einstein was agnostic.
I'm a Christian too, so bring up excuse for our backwardness, all the bad leaders we've had have either been Christains or Muslims, and we even had a more organized system before the whites came.
Europe was not built on any revival, Americans have lots of cult societies and they ain't even as religious as us. They are just smart, hardworking and disciplined.
Just look at the countries you are mentioning and comparing to America and Europe. So If you have the opportunity to become a citizen of UK or Italy for instance, you would reject it to become a citizen of India or China because the development of those countries can be looked at from the same perspective.Right?

Oh the early rulers of the world laid the foundation for world development so what happened to Africa and the rest of the world. Do you even travel at all, or you are here exposing your ignorance.

I think you are a poor student of history to not appreciate the role christianity revival awakening played in the development of Europe and Western countries.

Read about the exploits of Paul Youngie Cho ministry in South Korea and its correlation to the development of South Korea then you can appreciate what I am trying to say.

You said Igbe is idolatrous didnt you?

I only included Christianity in your statement using your own criteria of inclusion in idolatry because these are the facts:

Igbe believes in ONE GOD, so does christianity
Igbe believes in LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF, so does Christianity
Igbe believes in reaping what you sow, so does christianity
Igbe believes in forgiveness, so does christianity
Igbe believes in Ubiesha Etarakpo, Christianity believes in Jesus the son of Joseph
etc etc etc

Infact there are a hundred things that Igbe and christianity share in common. SO if Igbe is idolatrous then Christianity must logically be as well.
I quote from the excerpts
"At worship services, the Igbe priest(s), always dressed in white dress and white head gears, administer(s) native chalk on the worshippers for their protection and fortification. This protection is predicated on the belief that witches and wizards are extremely powerful and possess the powers to maim and kill"

How does this practice correlate with christianity, native chalk?
How is this not same with what herbalist do to fortify people against evil things from happening to them.

Believe what you may..

Christians, as much as I know, are the most intolerant people I have ever met on earth. Most Christians destroy before they even examine. Mind you, I am not even an Igbe member. I was born a Christian and I sometimes flatter myself that I am one but when I see the practices and acts of Christians sometimes, I'd rather identify as an Igbe member or a Muslim!

Igbe is not going extinct anytime soon. There is a center for Igbe studies now in Abraka. Igbe is practised in the UK and US and they are translating their liturgy to English gradually. Igbe remains and even though it has lost a lot to Christianity, it'll wax on and stronger. Scholars, especially in the arts, are already studying Igbe religion for its aesthetic aspects.
The bolded truly speaks volumes on who you are and engaging you further on a robust back and forth discussion on this may be an exercise in futility so I wont even bother.

Christians are the most intolerant according to you yet, when last did you hear that people were killed or destroyed in a christian dominated part of Nigeria due to religious intolerance or abusing of our christian faith.Yet we know were in Nigeria that happens against Christians frequently.

You were born a christian. Sorry, no one is born a christian even if your family is headed by an Apostle or Pastor or even church founder. You become a Christian based on a conscious and deliberate decision between you and the Lord Jesus to follow him.

You would rather become a muslim or Igbe adherent yet you were a supposed Christian.
Life is a choice afterall and we live with the consequences of choices made in this life in the After life in Heaven or Hell.

Roots in idolatry??

Do you know what idolatry even means?

Did you read my article on the origins of Igbe??

DO you think Christianity does not originate from Idolatry, based on the same parameters you yourself used to include Igbe??

Do you think that by denying Igbe as part of Urhobo/Isoko culture, that it does not exist as such? One person's denial doesn't change FACTS!!!
Based on your definition of Idolatory educate my supposed ignorance on the bolded.

Speak for yourself alone and your claim to metaphysical knowledge and truths is just that "your claim" while i believe and profess christ like you claim to do, I can't disqualify this religion from a cultural angle as it is us, ours and defines our culture but then unlike you i wouldn't judge them from a spiritual cum religious angle as my belief in christianity is absolute and that from a theological standpoint is an obvious bias and as such precludes me from passing judgement on the igbe religion but i gladly read about it nonetheless, because i can't and refuse to be divested from my history
If you can celebrate another religion with roots in idolatry your christianity is obviously complete fake. You can deceive yourself but not me.

Besides I used the word "many" not all. So I guess you are in the few I didnt include because your phrase of "defines us" "our culture" makes me think you might be on your own and alone in that line of thinking.

The real ORIGINAL IGBE UBIESHA with headquarters in KOKORO INLAND does not engage in idolatry. They worship a universal God like every other religion and their tenets are based on purity and love above all else. The name of the God of their conception is "Oweya" just like "Oghene", "Osanubua", "Olorun", etc.

There are many splinter Igbe based groups out there that have become diluted with idolatrous practises. We now have Igbe Ame- Igbe Uku, Igbe Akpokiniovo, etc and these groups have their own systems of thought.

This article documents the ONLY TRUE ONE IGBE RELIGION from KOKORI!!!

Let us remove this colonial vestige that our cultural practices are barbaric!!!

Igbe people wont say these things Christians say about them. It makes me wonder who is actually practising LOVE and TOLERANCE!!! Hmmm
.
Whether if there are fake igbes adherents or genuine igbe adherents. It doesn't change the fact that it is one of those extincting idolatrous religion.

Christians are taught by Jesus to walk in love towards our neighbours and when you love people you tell them the truth, but Jesus Christ didnt teach Christians to accept, condone or celebrate idolatory.Never!!!!!

Chief Marty..
It really pains me that this religion is not being propagated by it's followers. The Urhobos and Isokos should be proud of this...

THANK you for this expository work... I Hope more comes up...
I am of the Isoko tribe of Delta State and I, my family and many Isoko sons and daughters reject this backward stuff. Jesus Christ is the true God and died for all of us to be saved and redeemed. We choose to be liberated to follow christianity of the Bible not some pagan idolatory religion.

Many people might not know that part of the major problems of Africa is its foundation. Our fore fathers were neck deep into idolatory.God had stated he would visit the sin of Idolatory to children childrens even till the 4th generation.A generation is 100 years, so do the maths

To show you how true this is.If you look at Europe, it was founded on great spiritual revivival, the prosperity of europe was built on a great spiritual awakening. Check the early inventors from europe most where christians, same thing with America they have a christian foundation. So they dont struggle to achieve feats, no evil foundation of their fathers house is fighting them. If you look at the Native American tribes of the US and Canada who are also called red indians. They are neck deep into idolatory. They worship fire, the earth and other terrestrial stuff.
If you look at their lives, you cannot but pity them because of their poverty and backwardness. They go about begging in the city from even immigrants for survival. You can imagine how bad their situation is.
Idolatory has a positive correlation with backwardness.

The SS and SE saw the incompetence of Buhari before the elections but our SW brothers teamed up with the Barren North to force such a most incompetent and wicked government on the country. Now this is the unfortunate result. People deceive themselves that it would get better but when the indices prove its going to get worse then you know some folks love self deceit than reality.

Since Buhari cant improve the sate of things/economy let him return things to the way he met them instead of reversing the gains of the past administration.

I am beginning to think its not been a Muslim that is the problem, its the fulani/hausa ethnic group up north with their culture of violence and destruction because of their animalistic comfirmed nature that is the problem.

There are significant number of muslims in the SW, some of them are in the SS especially in that Auchi axis of Edo state, Abi na another koran them dey read. We don't hear of religious violence there, but in the North its a comfirmed regular occurrence like we are tired of seeing time and again.

Whats the correlation between violence + destruction and the islamic notherner.

The Nigeria environment is actually a chaos and lawless environment with zero sympathy and value for human life unlike in the developed western world where traffic laws are enforced and obeyed with high sympathy and value for human life.

The thing is when Nigerians come to developed world they obey the traffic rules and road sign because they know the implications (enforced monetary fines) for disobedience to those rules and laws when eventually caught disregarding them which always happens.

Hi there! i'll advice you take my advice frankly. There is nothing wrong with her and your relationship is safe. If you know the hell of stress involved in a PhD program, you wouldn't have been suspecting any fowl play. When writing a thesis, the best time to concentrate is in the dead night. A PhD program entails at least a 100 publication within 2-3years nowadays which need a serious scrutiny by some panel. And she also need to be submitting a report every months to her supervisor if she really want to complete her degree within 5years. If she can't concentrate now, she might end up completing a 4-5years programme for 10years. Sometimes, all this assigned professor frustrate their candidate , so you don't know what's on her mind each time you call. Kindly note that you should expect more strange actions from her during her program because its entails full concentration especially for those that want to complete it within a fast paced time. It not what you think bro, don't forget you are dating a career lady in the making. At 32 she's no longer a baby dull
With every sense of authority, I can tell you that the bolded is a complete and fat Lie.Even professors of 5 years experience haven't published up to 50 journal and conference papers talkless of a PhD student.
Perhaps you were confusing it with what is called a literature review in which lots of publication perhaps over 100 journal papers are reviewed by the PhD student in the first year of a PhD research to develop the research proposal and that alone is not enough to switch off her phone every evening.

The problem with some folks here is that they think that proper road safety procedures, in good shape car can guarantee safe journey. But how wrong can they be, There are spiritual dimensions that control the physical dimensions whether you want to be western in your thinking or not. Thats a universal truth.

Proverbs said "The horse is prepared for the day of battle but safety is of the Lord"

What guarantees your safety on the highway is
solely of the Lord not smooth road, new car or slow speed or great driver.

More often than not, buildings fail not due to substandard building material but they fail due to substandard building engineering, because you wonder if its the sand, cement or reinforcement (Irons) or aggregate (stones) that is fake.

That said the issue of building failure with respect to who is responsible is not something that one entity can be totally responsible for.The different entities involved have their individual roles to promote structural integrity.

The government with appropriate enforced checks and regulation share a responsibility, In developed world the regulation is strict, to build a house or even repair or modify it, series of government approval and checks must be enforced.

The consultant for the project with appropriate professional advice to averting structural failure must share a responsibility.

The Contractor/Builder who has the responsibility in using appropriate engineering methods to build the structure.

The Client has a major responsibility for selecting a contractor and consultant to deliver a structurally safe building which should be done based on clear competence and safety antecedent of the contractor.

For crying out loud even the king of ogoni land admited GEJ failed them. Yet some irredeemable foolish imbecilic dumb battalion ingrediential buffoonish nincompoops are still here allowing the devil use them to cause mass sufferings. "Not killing people" my round asss!
The way I'm seeing my people hailing terrorists I'm even beginning to think that we are much wicked and violent than the North because I don't remember Northerners coming out en masse to support BH or the herdsmen killings the way my people are all over the place cheering these guys on as if they themselves are not suffering. I mean what kind of hate will make you choose to die of hunger than allow someone who is not your brother feed you? Even the devil must be shuddering in hell right now! The comments whenever there's news of bombings and likes on such comments make me throw up. Like seriously are we cursed I'm seriously ashamed of telling people I'm from South South now. I'm really not very proud of telling people I'm from this region at the moment. Just too embarrassing!
Your statement advertises your depth of ignorance, I guess you never knew that It was a widely acknowledged fact that during the Boko Haram insurgency in the North, many northerners were widely sympathethic to their cause of total islamisation as shown by either their comments or deliberate silence and sabotaging of military efforts to combat the insurgency then.
You are so ignorant that you haven't been observing the comments of those guys up North on social medias of their unflinching support for herdsmen atrocities when threats of reprisal are issued.
Offcourse you are not from the South South so you failed in an attempt to deceive any one.

The NDA are not terrorist but are agitators with defined demands. Now instead of trying to understand the rationale behind this renewed agitation of the NDA, you are here masquerading as a Niger Deltan and casting aspersion.

Yesterday it was Niger state, today its Kano state.

An unidentified woman was yesterday killed at Yan Robobi in Kofar Wambai market in Kano by an irate mob, who accused her of blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed.
Sources revealed that the woman did not belong to any association in the market, making it difficult for any of the traders to contact security operatives to avert the disaster before she was eventually hacked to death by the angry mob.
It was also gathered that the woman, who sold plastic wares, was in the company of her husband when she was brutally murdered.
The incident was said to have occured when the market was preparing to close for the day’s business.
The victim was accused of blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed during a religious argument, which ensued within the market.
An eyewitness who spoke on account of anonymity, said some youths armed with dangerous weapons, attacked and slit the woman’s throat to the chagrin of other traders in the market.
It was also learnt that the remains of the woman had been deposited at the morgue, while investigation is in progress.
The spokesman of the state police command, Musa Magaji Majia, confirmed the incident
