UpNigeria7: Twitter Ban - Britain Follows Nigeria's Lead and Warns Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube To Regulate Their Sites Content
Nigeria Bans Twitter on Friday 4th June 2021, India writes letter to warn twitter to obey Indian laws on Sat 5th June, British Government writes to Twitter, Facebook and TikTok on Sat 5th June to regulate the content posted on their sites and from now on, the British National Crime Agency (NCA) will now work with tech companies to swiftly identify and remove dangerous content from their platforms (the same thing the Indian Govt is proposing to Twitter and all tech companies that want to keep operating in India)
The Indian Govt plans which some social media companies have already started implementing will mean twitter and co will be bound by law to identify the first person than creates a post on Twitter so that offensive and potentially dangerous posts can be traced back to the initial originator unlike now where inflammatory and potentially dangerous posts to national security is posted without any repercussions.
For once Nigeria led and the worlds largest democracy followed suit THE NEXT DAY and the father of all parliaments also followed suit THE NEXT DAY. Nigeria will rise again regardless of what its enemies are planning. God pass them and their sinister plans.
In the same British article below, a subsidiary of Facebook made £222 billion last year paid Zero corporation tax because the company is incorporated in Bermuda - a well known tax dodging haven used by criminals to hide their illicit wealth. but this is changing as the G7 meeting in the UK last week resolved to tax the Tech giants including Twitter and Facebook etc a minimum of 15% corporation tax and this will be adopted globally by all countries in the world and as long as you make a profit margin of 10% in a country you will have to pay 15% corporation tax on your profits to that country unlike before where you can hide behind off shore domicile in a Tax haven.
So Twitters Jack and his tax dodging billions can now have something to think about including paying their fair share of taxes to society and maybe Jack's billionaire induced arrogance and veiled imperialist tendencies will now simmer down as one of their own - Britain - has followed Nigeria's lead in clipping their arrogant, tax dodging and "unaccountable" wings / feathers and by the time Britain and other leading world powers finish with plucking Twitters feathers, he will no longer "unfairly" ridicule the President of the largest black nation on earth .

Tjra: LONG STORY ALERT!!!
Good afternoon Nairaland.
God has been so good to my family this year and a particular blessing has been giving us sleepless night.
I work with a big organisation here in Lagos and currently earn about N600k. I used to work in the branch since my entry level days 6 years ago until I was able to runz the head office movement.
Ever since I join the HQ two years, my life has been at ease. No weekend duties, no sickening pressures from customers. I have been able to develop my self, complete the professional courses I abandoned and can rest well on weekends/public holidays.
The worklife balance now isn't only the advantage of working at the HQ. The career progression and rapid promotion crowns it all.
My spouse earns a little above N400k and we manage ourselves well. Our combined income isn't that much but we've been able to achieve a lot due to our mutual cooperation. She commits her resources 100% into our home. Some people see me as a "big man" outside, no knowing I am actually enjoying the reward of marrying a good wife.
My wife recently got a job very lucrative job. Salary is about N1.5M monthly. She was on the process for close to a year. You can imagine our joy when she was eventually given an offer. This job is a huge one for us as a family and will make life more sweet.
My pain now is the job is based at Abuja and that means she has to relocate there with our kids. Abuja is not where I can drive to considering the security situation of Nigeria. Also, it won't be wise to fly down every week (I also have hidden phobia for heights ) because of costs and other attendant risks.
I actually want us to live together as a family most especially because of our kids. Some Kids tend to be spoilt when raised almost alone their mothers. As a father, I want to jointly raise them with their mother and also instill discipline in them appropriately.
The only solution on sight is to ask my company for redeployment to a branch at Abuja. This I fear might return me back to "Egypt". I.e days of stunted growth, no promotions. In summary, I am scared of killing my career by myself.
My wife is okay with us visiting each other every month but I am vehemently against it.
Someone please help Stay with the N400k job and find extra ways to raise the N1.1m e.g. thru forex, stocks, etc. |

Has-beens living on past glory.
In fact what Buhari should do now is sign a heavy duty military co-operation pact with Beijing, to forestall any nonsense from these western powers. Russia is our ally and we should make China our ally too. When Germany was carrying out it's Namibian genocide of over 80000 namibians in 1904 it didn't know about democracy. |

seunmsg: This message should have been issued since yesterday. It explains a lot. Those who are hellbent on misunderstandings the position of FG will still do so no matter the explanation. However, for those with open minds, it explains a lot.
Hopefully, Twitter will start playing by the rules of common sense and stop supporting terrorism against Nigeria. The Twitter ban is an anomaly but a necessary evil. I hope it’s lifted as soon as possible.
For me, it’s Nigeria first. I will never put an irresponsible big tech company from an imperialist country over the corporate existence of my country. Are you sure its not US, UK and France sponsoring IPOB? If the imperialists see a way to use ipob, bh etc to cause constant unsettlings in Nigeria to cause instability so they can freely mine oil, diamond etc they will. This is the same strategy France is using in Mali and CAR |

CilicMarin: Freedom of Speech.. But Buhari tweet was deleted?
Anyway, the Federal Govt. is no way hindering freedom of speech...We still have Facebook, Nairaland, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, crowwe etc..
FG only banned one platform where irresponsible speech capable of wrecking havoc to the corporate existence Nigeria is permitted and that is Twitter...
God Bless Nigeria.. Freedom of speech is their favorite catch phrase for trying to bully the government from doing what makes sense. |

Golan007: I remember reading a Guardian UK article some time ago and it made some accusations backed with some facts.
Sadly, I've never been able to find that article again. I once used to rail against African countries for being unable to govern thenselves until I had a closer look. What I found shocked me. All those French African countries are independent only on paper. They are required by colonial law as if today to pay 50% of their reserves into the French central bank or face sanctions. |

CilicMarin: The corporate entity, Nigeria is bigger than Twitter platform. If Jack doesn't want to play by the rules, we also don't need him. Providing avenue for Terrorists to destroy Nigeria is a red line..and they have crossed it..
Twitter as a form of social media, should not be an agent for destabilization but a tool for deepening democracy and promoting good governance in Nigeria and Africa as a whole..
Twitter must respect the sovereign integrity of nations wherein they operate.
If a government had designated a group as a terrorist group, Twitter has no justification to allow such groups to propagate their rhetoric via their platform.
If Twitter has the right to remove/block anybody out of their platform for breaking their 'rules' , countries too have the same right to ban or suspend Twitter operations in their countries as well for aiding or abetting Terrorists.
#I Support Nigeria France is destabilising Mali by placing 5000 troops there under pretence of fighting jihadists. |

SaintLucia: The same CNN that was not on ground at Lekki lied that 22 died in Lekki Toll Gate, from 22 death to 1 unconfirmed death by the same CNN. And meanwhile BBC that had a reporter on ground said no one was kill. Nigeria Is not Libya. CNN and other America agents of destruction will soon be ban from Nigeria space. Our national security must come first and not the interest of the imperialism. Anybody that is not happy can relocate to Ghana, Twitter is free there just stand near their office and you will browse for free. Many countries banned Twitter and heaven did not fall. Thank you my brother for spotting the truth. France is destabizing French African countries. That last coup in mali was done to overthrow a government that does France bidding. BBC is British state media that specializes in subtly denigrating Africans And promoting white supremacy waging psychological warfare on your minds. I agree cnn BBC and other western agents of destruction should be banned for good! |
