Politics › Re: Joe Igbokwe: "10 Reasons I Insist Some Nigerian Youths Are Lazy" by bigtt76(f): 11:44am On Apr 21, 2018 |
The truth is always bitter but this man really hit the nail on the head ...take it or leave it. My questions however are as follows:- 1.Are the lazy youths in the minority or majority and who is responsible for measuring this? Answer: Elderly politicians (Laziness). 2. Who are responsible for our youths being lazy? Answer: Elderly politicians (Laziness). 3. Who ran down the economy? Answer: Elderly politicians (Laziness). I could go on and on, the answers would still point back to the elders who are now accusing us being lazy. To we youths, don't know about most but I went through hell at school and home discipline such that I find delegating my personal activities (like laundry, hairdo and other stuff) very difficult. I can't imagine leaving stuff I should be doing myself to the hands of housemaids and nannies yet we claim not to be lazy. An under 30 married couples would have like 4 nannies to take care of the kids at different times of the day and you expect that child not to turn out lazy? I started doing my laundry, doing the dishes, sweeping and other household chores as early as age 5. Who does that now? While in secondary school, I've gone through the cutting of grass as punishment for not having an up to date lesson notes, scoring low in tests and assignments, late coming to school and noise making in class .....Do kids go through all these nowadays? I basically learnt the difference between 'wants' and 'needs' such that now I weigh both before I think of making any purchases. I still use my broken Infinix Hot2 mobile phone. I've never used an iPhone or Samsung phones but you see people younger than me rocking these devices ....most are not working o! Or those working would have to save like 3 months to buy it making you ask ....why the hassles to get something you cannot afford? People changing phones updandan ...ask your self why the need for change and you discover you only want it because you see others using it. The crave by the youth to satisfy their 'wants' rather than their needs is the cause of several negative issues affecting them today. Having said thus, I sincerely doff my hats for all those enterprising youths out there that are genuinely struggling on their own to make ends meet. Those who run from 5am to 9pm in traffic to eek out a living .....I see you. God will soon send down the signal on how we should assist you guys when we can. Politics › Re: Why Jonathan Is Responsible For Dividing Nigeria Not Buhari - Keyamo by bigtt76(f): 11:23am On Apr 21, 2018 |
Every regime get dem own version itsdumebi: @POLITICSNGR
Human rights lawyer and newly appointed Strategic Communications DG for the Muhammadu Buhari 2019 presidential campaign, Festus Keyamo has said that President Buhari did not divided Nigeria along ethnic and religious lines.
He disclosed that the division started during President Goodluck Jonathan's time in power, adding that Jonathan used it during the 2015 election campaign period. He told Sun;
"In 2015, you saw that this country was divided by the North/South sentiments and the Christians/ Muslim sentiments. Who made it happen?
In 2015, who used religion to campaign? Certainly not Buhari, he did not go to mosque publicly begging Imams and praying in the Mosque, lying down before Imams to bless him and tell their followers to vote for him. He (Buhari) did not do that, so when you say the country is more divided, is it as a result of him? Certainly no. It was because of the dynamism of the politics that brought him into office; the politics of that time under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
But luckily for us, God is a kind God, because you know what? On 2019, those people who preached evil against the Hausa – Fulani, those who told their people that these people are not good, those who told their people not to vote for Hausa /Fulani people because they have a mentality of born to rule, these are the same people that have zoned their presidential ticket to the North now.
So you know what? They will now go back to the same people that they preached hatred against to undo what they did. They will now see themselves cap in hands, with shame on their faces, they will go back to their people and say, the Hausa/ Fulani are not too bad, let us vote for them. And on that day, their people will question their integrity, but you told us in 2015 that the Hausa/ Fulani are not good people, why did you give your ticket to them now?"

Prof nor try at all ....see small chops wen don run hin belle so even before chopping sef WotzupNG: Authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU), have identified one Miss Monica Osagie as the female student involved in the sex-for-mark scandal currently rocking the school.
An audio conversation which surfaced online last week exposed one of the school’s lecturers, Professor Richard Akindele asking for five rounds of sex from Monica Osagie before she can pass his course.
A panel of inquiry was constituted by the school authority to investigate the matter and an interim report presented by the panel to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Eyitoye Ogunbodede yesterday April 19th, identified the female student as Monica Osetobe Osagie who was studying for a Masters in Business Administration.
While speaking after receiving the report, Professor Ogunbodede said that Osagie was invited to testify but she refused
“The committee observed that a prima facie case of inappropriate relationship with the female student had been established against Professor Richard I. Akindele. The report indicated that many other witnesses appeared before the committee and gave useful evidence. The university is making efforts to ensure that Miss Osagie appears before the investigative committee so that it can hear her side of the case and promptly submit its final report,’’ he said
Explaining why the accused lecturer had not been sacked, the Vice Chancellor said that the provisions of the relevant statute of the university must be followed.
“Under the provisions of the relevant statute of the university, an academic staff can only be dismissed from service or have his or her appointment terminated only when the matter on which consideration is being given has been investigated by a Joint Council and Senate Committee. Also the staff has appeared before the committee with his or her counsel, if so desired. This procedure is the minimum requirement of the law and regulations of the university. It should therefore be noted that the suspension of Professor Richard I. Akindele is on the basis of the findings of the Investigative Committee that he is prima facie liable. This decision will abide, pending the final determination of the case by the council of the University”, the vice chancellor said.

My former VC ....very smart and intelligent man. ricson11: Onyido, who was keynote speaker at the 55th meeting of the committee of Deans of Post Graduate Schools in Nigerian Universities, described internet professors as professors who simply log onto the internet to copy works of other scholars and present same as theirs. Speaking on the theme ‘the knowledge paradigm in the age of sustainable development: the relevance of the Nigerian post graduate school’, Onyido said such lecturers plagiarised their way to professorship, while adding that such practice was the bane of research and development in the country. He said, “A reasonable number of the thesis that pass through our schools contain plagiarised materials. These are the reasons we have ‘internet professors’ who plagiarise their way up, copying materials they know nothing about. “I borrowed Prof Jeffrey Sachs’ phrase in the above(precious reference), and the difference between my borrowing Sachs’ title and what my colleagues do these days to become professors overnight is that while I acknowledge my source, these dubious, crooked colleagues of ours do not. “In fact, a reasonable proportion of theses that pass through some of our post graduate schools contain massively plagiarised materials, just as some of our latter day professors in the Nigerian university system are internet professors. “They plagiarize their way up the promotion ladder by downloading materials from the internet and claiming authorship of articles they know nothing about.” He said that a certain university in the South-East now produces professors described as ‘China professors’ who were tested and found not worthy to be lecturer 11. Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof Joseph Ahaneku who was the chief host stated that research was one thing that stood university system out, but regretted that the number, quality and originality of research in the university system was now poor. He said TETFUND once observed that universities were not assessing funds meant for research. He urged universities to articulate their proposals and go for grants as organisations such as World Bank was making funds available but universities were are not accessing them. He urged universities to articulate their proposal and access funds for research instead of going on the internet and copying works that had not impacted on the society. “If we fail to address the critical role of research, we have failed,” he said. Proffering solutions, Onyido called for increased funding by government for universities. He urged senior scholars to cultivate the habit of mentoring younger ones. The conference attracted Deans of post graduate schools from universities across the country. source www.informant247.com |

Business › Re: Nigeria’s payment system is the best secured in the world-NIBSS by bigtt76(f): 9:41am On Apr 17, 2018 |
Agreed Nigeria has the best secured payment system in the world but the worst regulated ...I leave that for another day. On the use of USSD for payments, its a laudable innovation, however its still in its infancy and does not fully support automated system. I'm yet to see the APIs to enable platforms integrate and offer USSD payments to their customers. Rather what obtains is a direct account credit of the merchant's bank account and merchant manually updates the customer's purchase or payment on his/her ecommerce platform. I stand to be corrected though. GoodGovernance: A representative of the Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS), has declared that Nigeria’s payment system is the best in the world,in terms of security.
NIBSS is the provider of shared platforms for financial transactions in the country. Its Business Development Executive, Niyi Ajao, who spoke on the sideline of the launch of Tech Fest by Diamond Bank in Lagos, said the growth in mobile transaction in the financial sector in the country has been phenomenal.According to him, this development is largely due to the security of the transactions, adding that globally, Nigeria’s payment system is the best because of the different of layers security.
Quote: “Today, everybody is moving towards the mobile phone for payment and with emphasis on USSD and the reason is very clear, with USSD you don’t need to pay for data on the phone. So, the issue of not having internet connection is not an inhibiting factor. With mobile banking application, you need the internet but with USSD, you do not. You just do * a number and # and the transaction is done. Everybody, even with a feature phone, the simplest phone that costs as little as N2,000, you can do a USSD and that is where we see a lot of transactions in banking moving into now.’’
‘’Payment is moving into that and it’s understanding-people want convenience, everybody wants convenience and that is why we are challenging innovators, we are challenging everybody in the system to continually look for ways to release services on the USSD on the mobile phone because experience has shown that that is where the people prefer to really don their transactions.”
However, he cautioned that no matter the means of payment chosen, there is always the risk of losing cash if care is not taken.
“Even if you go by cash, the risk of losing money is always there if you don’t apply by the basic security principles. If I put my cash inside my purse and I don’t keep my purse well, pick-pockets will pick it. So, for all these other new channels, including the mobile phone, it has its own risk but the beauty of it is that every customer, everyone that abides by the basic principles, would not lose money. For instance, with the mobile phone payment, even if you steal my phone, to complete a payment process you need my PIN (personal identification number). So, I can’t lose money, if I don’t release my PIN except some fraudsters are just coming to trick me to give them my PIN because under the guise that they want to maintain my account. I should be intelligent and I should know that I shouldn’t release my PIN to anybody. Even if somebody calls me on the phone and says he’s my banker, I shouldn’t release my PIN, I would not. If you abide by all these things, you will not lose money. At NIBSS, we see exactly what is going on in the industry.’’
He concluded :“Check all over the world, Nigeria has one of the most secured payment platforms because we have many layers of protection. Apart from the PIN, we have protection on the network, on the application layer and then we now have the BVN (bank verification number). Even if somebody steals your money, the system is there for us to know who stole your money because you can’t do any transaction without your BVN. So people should be free to imbibe all these new payment systems,”
