Politics › Re: CBN To Pump Fresh $350m Into Forex Market Again by bigtt76(f): 9:58am On Mar 04, 2017 |
@embolden... Wrong assumption. The dollar is universal and cannot expire or lose its value against the local currency. The hoarders would persevere knowing that the battle being fought by CBN depends largely on her forex reserve. How long can CBN maintain this battle before it succumbs? Venezuela is now down to last 10 billion dollars. Nigeria is only $19bn richer At this rate its only a matter of time before we find ourselves in similar position. CBN should stop the restrictions and let the dollar float on its own. Arik and others have fallen victim yet they're giving emphasis to school fees SMH Ibusho: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will this weekend, again, pump more dollars into the foreign exchange market in continuation of its strategy to further strengthen the value of the Naira.
A source in the apex bank, said that the CBN has planned the release of an additional $350 million bringing the total to $570 million in this week alone to further crash the value of the Dollar. Already this has generated panic among currency traders who are yet to recover from the losses some of them have suffered in the last two weeks owing to sharp and sudden appreciation of the Naira. Confirming the development, the Acting Director, Corporate communications, Isaac Okorafor, told our correspondent that, with improving reserve levels, the Bank was determined to continuously make forex available to all genuine customers through their banks
The nation’s foreign reserve hit about $29 billion as at Tuesday, last week, a position that has given comfort to the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, and his team to massively intervene in the forex market. With the current position, those hoarding the hard currencies would have to quickly off-load to reduce their losses. Informed sources speak of the likelihood of a liquidity glut as banks are beginning to send out salespeople to scout for customers to buy the dollar in an effort to avoid losses arising from the expected further appreciation of the naira. It will be recalled that since last Tuesday the CBN has so far supplied a total of $570 million to the market made up of $80 million for Personal Travel Allowance (PTA), Medicals and school fees, $100 million in wholesale forwards, an additional $350 million planned for injection on Friday or Saturday.

@embolden.... Those guys are not the founders of Jumia ooo! Go read more about how Rocket Internet Group works. The group maintains a collection of platforms and give out funds to MBA graduates to go champion it. I know they merged Kasuwa with the Jumia brand though. I think the level of success attained by the founders of Jumia, Raphael Afaedor and Tunde Kehinde, can be attributed to what they were taught at Harvard Business School. Both met at Harvard and came up with the idea of setting up an online retail shop in Nigeria. I also think Harvard Alumni plays in role in financing most start-ups created by Harvard graduates. |

Naaaah! More of a licence thing. With their links to the banks, it would have been much more easier with the BVN to map PayPal accounts to Nigerian bank accounts but CBN is scared the inflows would end up tied down in those accounts instead of to fund the forex market at a quicker rate than it would be if the owner withdraw and sell. menxer: That's a serious dilemma for an economy that wants to increase dollar earnings. I know they are prolly looking at the negatives first and only. |
Business › Re: Gtbank Naira Mastercard Issue by bigtt76(f): 8:21am On Feb 26, 2017 |
Well there may be a limit as to how much dollar your BVN profile can transact out monthly. Accepting inflow into your PayPal is a government regulation thing. PayPal still does not have the licence from CBN to do that. Infact CBN does not know whether that falls into the IMTO category or not. menxer: That's the shock I got this morning trying to pay for a subscription using PayPal.
Now that we are to use dollar card, will the limits still apply? Will PayPal lift its ban on funds receipt into cards issued by Nigerian banks?

What card type did you use when you got the second message? I think they've stopped the Naira card for foreign transactions since last week or so. yemight2776: Have been one of the user of the Naira MasterCard to buy goods online but I first received one message from Gtbank saying:
"Dear customer, you can conveniently use PayPal with a GTBank Dollar Card. Apply now on Internet Banking or send a mail to cardsandproductdev@gtbank.com".
After some days that have been trying to use the card to pay online that have been decline, I decided to try it again to buy on eBay and was decline and later Gtbank sent message saying:
Dear Customer, your transaction was declined because the amount attempted exceeds your approved cumulative limit.
But now am confused because I don't really understand that 2nd message and I heard that some people card is still going on well. Please help. Thanks |

Lose NOT Loose sheeda995: Let's talk on natural ways that work in enhancing our beauty. As for me,one of the things that I have done that has perfectly work is my exercise and diet weight loss therapy. I was able to loose weight in a natural beautiful way.I successfully lost 20kg within 6months. I combined exercise with making my diet rich in protein, I ate beans like crazy, and thanks to God, rice got costly, then I was totally off rice and I ate beans a lot from white beans with stew, to moimoi, I took lots of water melon, though I still ate indomie sometimes. But the truth is the exercise I did was the main thing. In my hair journey, I have tried so many things but I give credit only to castor oil and coconut oil. but castor oil did not help me grow my eyebrow, I noticed it was falling, so I stopped.Coconut oil makes my hair shines. Then Shea butter, I kinda dislike this because it has only added to my problem, I used it as body lotion and it gave me pimples, thicken my skin, and for my hair, its a lil help, but for the scalps, I think it gave me dandruff, so I stopped. But am still trying these things out to be quite sure why they work the way they did because some particular lifestyle could affect the way some things will work for us.
...so kindly drop yours |
