Thanks dear buh Step 1 and Step 2 though amtaken: How to Join the U.S. Army If You Are Not a U.S. Citizen by Molly Thompson, Demand Media
Uncle Sam wants you -- as long as you are a U.S. citizen or a permanent legal resident of the U.S. Non-citizens can join the U.S. Army as an enlisted soldier, providing they meet specific legal immigration requirements. Non-citizens are not eligible to become commissioned officers in the U.S. military, and they may also be barred from certain Military Occupational Specialties, or job categories; particularly those requiring security clearances.
Step 1 Be a permanent legal resident living in the U.S. with permission to work in the country. Neither tourist nor student visas are sufficient for enlistment in the U.S. military, and undocumented immigrants are not eligible to join the U.S. military. Non-citizens must also meet the same standards of physical fitness and education as U.S. citizens seeking to enlist.
Step 2 Have a valid Permanent Residence Card -- form I-551 (popularly known as a Green Card) -- to prove your legal resident status. If you don't have a current I-551, you have to show proof that you have applied for renewed status, such as an original receipt from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services showing you have paid for the renewal application -- form I–90 (Application to Replace Permanent Resident.
Step 3 Apply to join the enlisted ranks of the U.S. Army. You will not be permitted to begin formal military training until your legal permanent resident status is established. Your Permanent Residence Card must be valid for the duration of your enlistment.
Step 4 Apply for U.S. citizenship if you want to be eligible to reenlist beyond your initial service commitment or to become a commissioned Army officer. Although the normal path to citizenship requires a legal resident to maintain that status for at least five years while living and working in the U.S., the military offers an accelerated program that takes about 10 months. |

Even batteries for cars are not meant to last more than 2 years on 100% efficiency. Efficiency drops as the years go by. The deep cycle batteries are no different dear. If you are opportuned to get very good ones ...you will enjoy it! AroOkigbo: Consider the cost of battery and the whole inverter system. ..on average you ain't going to save anything. Nobody will tell you the truth about the battery which you must change yearly. ..that is if you are lucky and it's not every six months. Moreover, charging the inverter via NEPA mains isn't for free. |

I feel you @embolden what is your current power rating for your house? What is the rating of the inverter you're using? Boss13: I don't know why you are pessimistic. At least I can share my bitter experience with inverters because I have used over 5. I even currently have a 5kva inverter laying idle. I have a solar panel and I am guaranteed of light once the sun is up. My only issue is with my batteries which have caused me pains like previous inverters used. I don't want to change them yet because I am tired.
If I don't put on some much load on my inverter and with my weak 4 batteries I am guaranteed of 24 hours power supply plus solar power. If you don't load your inverter and you have good batteries, I believe it can last you better.
Recall, he has a 1.5kva and uses four 200amp batteries. I believe it should last him for 3 days if the batteries are fully charged and working well. Except he overloads the inverter. |
Science/Technology › Re: How my inverter is saving me in this poor power supply and no-fuel situation by bigtt76(f): 9:23am On Apr 25, 2016 |
I disagree with you. Its best to get the Solar Panels supply your house with its primary power supply during the day time while at the same time, charge your battery bank for later use during the night time when the Sun has set. Getting your primary power supply from the batteries will only end up reducing the efficiency of the batteries faster than it was meant to last. Inverters are designed to 'invert' the input current from its original state to a usable state depending of course on the appliances you are powering. in our discourse here, it converts DC to AC so connecting your Solar panels to the inverter gives you AC output which you can conveniently use to run your house needs during the day and the excess charge your batteries for use later in the evening. litaninja: The panels output in DC. So that is used to charge up the batteries first and then you get an AC output from the inverter. I believe there are some inverter designs that allow you to get an AC output from the inverter which is supplied by the panels. However, this will most likely leave you with only a "trickle" charge rate on the batteries. That will be slower, and you may not get the full benefits from the system. |
Science/Technology › Re: How my inverter is saving me in this poor power supply and no-fuel situation by bigtt76(f): 9:16am On Apr 25, 2016 |
I agree with you bros! adanny01: You didnt put it this way. There are alot of fake inverters and batteries out there. Anyone who does not research before buying especially batteries will waste money.
Those who buy battery banks take higher risks as one bad battery will take out the rest. Replacing one failed battery is not adviseable either so they are forced to dump the whole bank. |

Sure but even with devices that has flaws, it is managed. The generators we use today all have their own flaws but we still use them. I remember times without number getting my powerpack blown out because my 'I pass your neighbor' gen exhausted its fuel while i was using it with my laptop. I learnt to manage it thereafter. Same applies with inverters ....what do we do when the power supply from the public mains is non-existent, fuel to run the generators is non-existent .....do we now remain in the dark because the inverters are flawed and cannot be trusted? Bros, please don't be like the man that is always happy to see others suffer while they enjoy their lives. if I may ask ....what do you use in place of power from public mains? jeytee: I never condemned anything,im just saying or rather stating things as they are, inverters are good in areas where there is average power supply to charge it constantly....I've used 2 inverters now,the batteries and setup are ok...im only trying to make understand so as not to over raise peoples expectations from this device,as with all electronic deVices it has its flaws |

Chai ....but you for ask first or take time read carefully before you post naaaaau see yourself? An inverter functions by converting Direct Current (DC) to Alternating Current (DC) ...solar panels generate DC and your household appliances are AC. Even if you were to use only Solar panels that would still require an inverter but then you got limited power supply as the Sun allows. At night you have no power supply except NEPA or PHCN have mercy on you. That is where batteries come to play. It stores the energy from the solar panel during the day and releases it for use at night when the Sun has set. The more the batteries (depending on how you connect them shaaa and of course the inverter rating) the longer power supply you get I hope this explains it all. Sanchase: Inverter batteries requires charging, how do u charge the batteries with the epileptic power supply in Naija, this is in essence attempting to solve a problem by creating another problem.
The feasible alternative for PHCN seem to be solar energy as its renewable through sunlight, more light should be thrown on the use of solar energy rather than people posting the use of Inverters to make money at the expense of others. |

Ok great. Thought you said Mercury Inverter is no good oyb: in my opinion, your best value for money is a mercury inverter. 2.5kva is 25,000. buy direct from coscharis and you get a 1 year warranty.
its modified sine wave, which means some fans may hum when running . none of the ones in my house do. i am also recommending it because 25k is far easier to shrug off than 150k.
after you buy your mopower inverter the english will start. oh, it needs a stabilizer; oh you cannot use it with a generator sized less than so and so
nigerians are very lousy where after sales support is concerned. |

Why condemn his setup? He's not asked anyone to bring money or has he? Nor has he suggested any vendor. Besides all these, you don't even know his setup arrangement at home. You may own an inverter but have it wrongly connected which has now given you a wrong impression about the whole system. Please let us all learn and do the right thing instead of condemning others. jeytee: Bro who are you deceiving or planning to deceive?...I own an inverter too and its useless if light or gen is unavailable to charge it ,and besides this your inverter doesn't look powerful enough to power a house with basic electrical appliances besides the fan on,Get your facts right and be truthful.. |
Science/Technology › Re: How my inverter is saving me in this poor power supply and no-fuel situation by bigtt76(f): 6:18am On Apr 25, 2016 |
Very true. I would support adding of batteries in modular manner to sustain your power needs but then adding a new battery to a running system would make it an imbalanced arrangement. One battery will surely go bad before the other and the cycle continues. Best you get your present and future power needs right before embarking on this venture. Electroweb: Well, inverters have minimum voltage at which they cut off power supply, so its not possible to drain it to nought. Assuming If you have an inverter of the strenght of a truck but use it to carry load of one Laptop then its a waste of money and space. The average life span of the batteries is 2yrs. The storage capacity of the batteries drop over time, just like ur phone, rechargeable torch, car batteries e.t.c they are all the same. |
