topup: Can't imagine why I always assumed otherwise. ![]() Probably cos so many insults fly around on NL and nobody seems to care. Wonder if he would have been banned if the target wasn't a mod ![]() colored judgment - the bane of our society |
C2H5OH:are you blind, as I doubt that you are illiterate? I 'll repeat, if you have nothing to contribute, keep your hands off the keyboard. |
9jaganja:You are the ignorant one. The debate is on gay marriages and not homosexuality. |
C2H5OH:Sorry, did I hit a soft spot? maybe there were elements of truth in my post? I only gave my opinion, even if it is contrary to yours, there was no need for the insult. If you have nothing to contribute, then keep your hands off the keyboard |
I thot people, including Ijebu men, dreaded Ijebu women, as they are reputed to put the man under their control spiritually. ![]() I do have two cousins married to Ijebu men, (one Ijebu ode, and the other Ijebu igbo), and if I was to use them as a yardstick, I woudn't advise anyone to date an Ijebu. It is always wrong to paint groups of people with broad strokes |
EL MORIJA:The word 'initiates' suggests that you have concluded that it is cult. why waste the time of others? If you don't like C.C.C., then don't attend. BTW ironic username |
Becomrrich:that's not a tenable argument as you could then make same for any service industry. |
Lady in Red - Chris de Burgh |
ovo2000:I think some people do it as a self sacrifice in memory of Christ |
EL MORIJA:weird choice of word. It almost seems that you have made up your mind. |
Scammers and con men are criminals, and their marks are no saint, rather I see them as accomplices in the crime. If they had gotten the promised $20M from their $20K 'investment', they would never report it to the law enforcement agencies. When caught both of them should be jailed. |
@anonimi I am not sure I understand your point on the definition of "fulfill". My argument was in line with what Paul said in his epistle to the Romans (more specifically chapter 3), in that while the laws have failed to achieve their purpose, they are not sin, and understanding the notion behind the laws will bring us closer to God. IMO, we can debate on who/where to pay your tithe or what fraction of which income to pay, but I am against you keeping it in your pocket , as in doing so, you rob God |
Na wa for people and using multiple ids to drum up support for their point of view. Its obvious that kenny888 has a second id, after all he replied to a thread he started only 6 minutes after, agreeing to himself (most likely cos he forgot to log in under the second). The question is "is Segyemaro the same person as kenny888?", given that he also replied 8 minutes after kemmy888, declaring his full support for the OP. The mods/admins should investigate this, starting with IP address used, and perma-ban him if found guilty. It will be a real shame if people like him/her are not investigated and dealt with accordingly |
manmustwac:That is the question. Secondly will they be able to effect it equitably, and not just go after the big ones.? |
debosky:@debosky 1. I agree that the government has been irresponsible in its expenditures . 2. The argument that the contributor has already been taxed does not stand, as a similar argument is not applicable to other service businesses. 3. Does the government sponsor people? When it comes to pilgrimage, I think the large number of people involved and the diplomatic needs will keep the goverment involved for a while. @topic I am less concerned about whether they tax religious bodies or not (as long as it is applicable to all, including the local witch doctor), but rather about what happens to the revenue the get. Even if they wanted to tax churches and mosques, the tax collection system is too porous to get enough income to justify the uproar that it would cause. |
Becomrrich:There is no reason for you to express your ignorance so brazenly. |
My experience was different. It wasn't really a case of visitors, they were more or less living with us. Growing up, I enjoyed every minute of it. Both of my grandfathers were polygamous, and so there were enough aunties, uncles and cousins to go round. During festive periods, there were so many people around that we had to eat meals in batches. The 'gists', the games, the movie nights, were all so enjoyable. Best of all was charging toll fees fromr all the bf & gf that came visiting. If u no settle, the person u dey find no dey for house! They made me a very rich kid ![]() |
There should be an old route to ibadan via ikorodu almost parallel to the current expressway. Have no idea on the safety and condition of the road though. |
@topic Ask her how much I owe, and then proceed to give her a short lecture on why uninsured credit is bad for business |
debosky:The definition quoted is a general dictionary definition of an English word which would apply to a Bible written in English. It simply addresses the topic posted. The question of the 'true meaning' is a V-topic, as unless you ask the writer of the original Greek scriptures, you will never get to the 'true meaning'. For any translation of the Bible, you are always subjected to the colored view of the translator, given the impossibility of exact translation between languages (except in a few simple cases like a declarative statement). Language translations are aimed at not just a word for word translation, as the OP suggests, but rather a holistic approach to retain the full meaning in context. The same Greek phrase that is translated into English to include the word 'fornication' in the KJV, has no such reference in other translation like NIV. Keep in mind that certain words in Hebrew were also translated into fornication. If the OP has a problem with the KJV translation, he/she can use another version of the bible, but I doubt she will do any better, as the common idea is not to have sex with someone you are not married to. |
@lixiinmei Fornication is not exactly the same as pre marital sex Fornication (see definition) is having voluntary sex with someone you are not married to. This is irrelevant of our marital status. Since you are not yet married to your partner, pre-marital sex is a form of fornication. Adultery on the other hand is defined as sex between a married person and a partner they are not married to. It is a subset of fornication. Hence fornication and adultery can be used interchangeably, with no loss in meaning, for a married person, a single person can only be guilty of fornication. This should clarify your question on Matthew 19:9 |
@topic Fornication:voluntary sexual intercourse between two unmarried persons or two persons not married to each other Hence by definition pre-marital sex IS fornication. @poster I think you are asking the wrong question. The real question is when does a couple become married: when they are both committed, when both parents give their consent, when they are married in the church, or any other point of reference? |
todak:and based on what do you deem one a 'rumor' and the other the 'truth'. After all they are both sourced from the same news agency with little to no evidence in support. Q: Besides THISDAY, has any other news agency reported on the issue? |

maddock:I apologize, as it seems I took your use of the word 'gift' out of context, as the discussion was centered around the christian faith. I do still disagree with your choice of the word 'gift' if what you meant is as written above. Gifts are not taught, they are given. |
This is why they say Nigerian graduates are worthless. I see people saying shit like if it was your own daughter or sister blah blah blah. Nothing they do will ever bring her back. There comes a time when some archaic beliefs need to be thrown out. 2000 years ago, these same parents would have ordered the twin babies killed because they were considered demonic back then. To the goats that said he can't get his kids by law or custom- R u kidding? If he is the biological father, he has a good case. The only thing they can do is to prove that he can't take care of the kids. Lets stop playing ignorance. A lot of people know what is entailed here. It has nothing to do with paying the bride price or anything of that sort. They will ask the guy to sleep in the same room with the corpse for a couple of days. Some tribes require intercourse with the corpse while some just make the man sleep beside the corpse. The reason for this stupid tradition is hatred and revenge. No matter what they do, their daughter is not coming back. Taking it out on the husband will not bring her back
1. Lay off the insults. You can make your point without insulting others. 2. You seem to be privy to details of the demands made of the guy. Could you please educate the rest of us? 3. You sound assured in your assertion that their motives are hatred and revenge. Could you please explain how you come to know this? OT Moderating on NL is too lax, letting many exchanges get out of hand. |
share ke? for where? ![]() we no dey share with parent for my side o. Na strictly 1-way inheritance in my direction. I wear am once, I own am for life! ![]() |
Wrong question - sates don't admit students into an MS program. The information needed is about the schools not the state |
Before you get all worked up looking for the good guys, make sure you equip yourself with the characteristics that good guys are looking for. Otherwise, when you do find him, that will be all there is to it - you found him, but you are not what he was searching for. |
