biina:A clarification/correction to my earlier post: Nigeria used to be (but no more) a constituency of the Rhodes Scholarship, and there have been 14 Rhodes Scholars from Nigeria (of which Soludo is not one). I apologize for any confusion or misinformation due to my earlier post. |
what happened to your prescription glasses? ![]() Try to check existing threads before you create another. |
blacksta:Don't believe everything that you read on the internet. The Rhodes Scholarship is a postgraduate award for study at the University of Oxford. Rhodes Scholars may study any full-time postgraduate course offered by the University, whether a taught Master’s programme or a research degree; or a second undergraduate degree (senior status), over two years. Soludo does not have a degree from oxford, and Nigeria does not nominate Rhodes Scholars. Hence, it is impossible for Soludo to have been a Rhodes Scholar unless he claimed a different citizenship. Also on what grounds do you reach the conclusion that Soludo is the best Nigeria has produced in a long time? Are you familiar with every economist that Nigeria has produced in the last two decades? |
It's shocking that some people in their omniscient point of view are sure that no members of (or contributors to) the redeem church are complaining against the jet issue. I guess some people just know it all. Back on topic, one of the reasons that I doubt the veracity of the second publication is that, if it is indeed true that 5 business men bought the jet in the name of a charter service company, there should have been no reason to link the jet to RCCG. After all, their intention to fly the GO free of charge (which is purported to be the only connection) shouldn't have been public knowledge. So the question is "why the connection?" The first article lends one to believe (with no certainty) that THISDAY got their original info from airport personnel and likely concluded the ownership of the jet based on such sources or registration documents. If one considers the 'rumors' from last year that RCCG was planning to buy a jet, the first story sounds more credible. |
jamace:For some to have accommodated your ignorance and semi-illiteracy, is no reason to engender the trend. It will serve you better to accept correction when found wanting, instead of letting your ego override your sensibility. A polite request that you simply clarify your position was ignored, and instead you have resorted to wasting your efforts in defending an untenable position (efforts better applied in improving your command of the English language). In my original post, I did give a contribution based on what I felt your original post implied (and not what it meant). It is bad enough that you wrote something unqualified in all of it's dimensions, worse still is your ambitious effort to defend it. This is what is truly sad. |
Assuming that the statistics you provide is true, still people do not fornicate because of condoms. Fornicators are so in their minds and it has little to do with condoms. A similar argument would be that most people that have STDs are adulterers and fornicators, therefore should a christian sell drugs that prevent/cure STDs? That aside, as a christian you should not engage in any activity that does not sit well with your being or conscience, irrespective of what the popular opinion may be. |
Its always saddening when people quote selected scriptures in the name of defending an opinion or a preference. I agree that a pastor should live comfortably. Unfortunately, like most things in life, the definition of 'comfortably' becomes subjective. Those that intend to justify the excesses of others never quote scriptures like 1 Timothy 3:1-10, which is explicit about what to expect from one in the service of the Lord 1 Timothy 3:1-10 Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap. Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. |
@maddock Do not misuse the scriptures to justify your love for the things of the world |
It was idiotic of LH to lie about something that could easily be verified. To worsen things, he actually said the truth in a TV interview a few minutes after the meeting with the stewards. The guy needs to hold himself to a higher standard. |
and you are thinking of making it 4+ kids from 3 different mothers? baka! <shakes head & faceplam> |
Lets forget about the semantics jare, 'cos the whole thing sounds like something a guy would say to get laid. Another example: I have sex with her, but make love to you. |
The Roght/best Age-gap For Couples = x, where 0 < x < lifetime |
jamace:It seems your problem stems from a poor command of the English language. Your answers to my questions (above) shows that your post fails to accurately reflect your thoughts . The title of your thread " Why Do Africans Praise The Dead Always", leaves no exception to the rule. You made an unqualified reference to all Africans, and to all occurrences in time. Your original post makes reference to 'we Africans', meaning your are speaking on behalf of, if not all, at least the majority of Africans. To compound your generalization you make a second reference to 'everybody'. There is nothing to be gained from reading between the lines, when one, such as yourself, expresses themselves so unequivocally. |
people against arranged marriages, and recommending that the individual choose their partner, implicitly assume that the individual knows what is best for him/her. Unfortunately it is not always the case. The same parents, whom some of you feel shouldn't have a say in the choice of the spouse, will be the first people the aggrieved party will run to when things go south. Arranged marriages is suited to some, and not suited to others. Stop making sweeping statements like all humans are same and sane. |
person wey wan die, jam person we go kill 'n' bury am. equation don balance! ![]() |
People go on about "do not judge/criticize a man of God" and forget to address the underlying question of "who is a man of God?". Those that criticize certain pastors do so on their reasoning that those are not men of God. It is pointless therefore to use such scriptures to dissuade them as they feel it is not applicable. Before you quote a scripture in defense of a man of God, please establish the grounds on which the said person is a man of God. |
fyneguy:In the interest of all, it is better if we can clarify that which is false and that which is not. Hubreality made two unsubstantiated statements "False information against anybody or group of people is bad and satanic and should not be encouraged in any form. We've seen that happen many times here. No sentiments attached.and I dislike seeing these cheap fabricated lies mixed up with facts. Anyway, if anybody so like it, then let it be done to you also. Hahahaha. He essentially admitted that certain parts of the article are true (or facts). All I am asking is that he and others help in separating the lies from the facts. They should set the record straight instead of typing BS statements that their lack of evidence are worse than that which they aim to condemn |
fyneguy:If the characters do not exist, we can safely say that the article is baseless and false. On the other hand, if the characters do exist, the question then becomes which statements/actions associated with each personality is true and which is false. You raise the issue of motive, which is of little relevance in the veracity of the accusations. Saying an article is false, without stating which parts of it are false, and/or providing evidence to the contrary is BS and a waste of time. |
Am not much for sweeping statements, accusations, and counter accusations from either side of the fence, rather I prefer we establish the facts as much as information will allow. In the aim of separating the facts from the falsehood, those with inside knowledge of CE, could you please confirm or rebut the existence of the characters listed in the article i.e. 1. Deaconess Pat 2. Olatunde Oyediran 3. Tomisin & Tolu Fashina, 4. Taiwo Adenubi 5. Dr. Diolla 6. Funi Silinda 7. Dolapo Layode 8. Any other names I might have missed (excluding 'sources') Before we delve into the issues of if the allegations leveled in their name are genuine or otherwise |
No2Atheism:I have also investigated the document and this seems to be the Javed Masih of Jesus Fellowship society referenced in the document http://jfsbibleschool.org/index.html |
hubreality:While I am not saying that the article is true, could you please state which parts of the article are false, as they provided a document to backup their claims (see link) http://www.huhuonline.com/news342a.html There is no point in declaring falsehood without making a credible case for your position. |
There is a similar thread on the Religion Board. A mod should merge the threads. |
In his presence: Dad or Daddy Behind his back: Mummy's husband ![]() |
jamace:So this person that died, - All africans attended his funeral? - He alone represents everyone that has stolen money, slept with the wives of others, and killed as many as they can in the name of politics,? - Every African has been singing his praises? Your earlier posts assumes that the answer to the above questions are in the affirmative when it obviously not so. Even then you didn't even provide any reference/evidence (written or otherwise) to backup your single instance of occurrence. Did you ever consider that only the people that thought favorably of the deceased attended the funeral, and others that didn't like him didn't attend? or do expect his wife, kids and relatives to all speak ill of him? You are free to express your grievance about any thing, but please do not go about posting sweeping statements about others without providing any evidence to backup your claims |
lucabrasi:You should reread your first post and then ask yourself that question. |
lucabrasi:WTF ![]() |
@debosky dont kill the fun, it was just getting interesting ![]() <grabs easy chair, makes a drink, and prays the rage continues> ![]() |
