maestroferddi: You that reason with your fingers apparently did not hear when northern political leaders were threatening to take Ihejirika to the Hague for war crimes, abi?

Neither would your dwarfish thinking capacity fathom the possibility of propaganda and pressure on the presidency to desist from clamping down on the terrorists.

Or maybe you are too young to have known that the likes of El Rufai were the very promoters of the futile carrot and stick approach recommended to the presidency.
again. i ask you. since when does a private citizen stop GEJ administration. Fuel subsidy riots didnt. Governors cant. Elder statesmen cant. What superpower does el rufai, a private citizen have that we dont know of other than fb and tweets (lol)? see yourself?

naijaking1: Your speculations and conjectures are even more distorted than this Australian "peace negotiator"
You forgot that Ihejirika was just the chief of Army staff.

He was not the President, the vice president, the chief of staff, the national security adviser, he director of SSS. He was not even
the officers at his own level like the chief of Navy, or Airforce.
He was not the inspector general of police.
If you understand this setting, you'll answer your own questions as to "why didn't he arrest El-Rufai when he was in office?"
Ihejirika might have been at a meeting where people like El-Rufai were discussed, but please stop confusing issues with your down right childish question.
Take a deep breath and think. I am not attacking anyone. The COAS is part of the security council no? It is either Ihejirika knew Rufai was BH and kept hit to himself, or he and other security chiefs including GEJ knew, and none of them arrested Rufai. By itself, either of these two options is criminal, One option implicates Ihejirika alone, the other implicates all the service chiefs.

The more likely story here is that Ihejirika is making this up. All the reason he gave make no sense. Rufai doesnt have the power to pull down one building in his own hometown today, talk less of stopping GEJ from doing anything/

This is why I said you don't mean well, or you're just another tribalistic, Igbo-bashing-SOB trolling the N/L.
....
Don't speak as if you fell from the sky yesterday, and unaware of what's been going on since GEJ began positioning himself for a 2nd term.
....
LOL. Because I dont agree with you Im tribalistic? Can you point to the exact spot where I bashed anyone? If you read my whole post instead of just flying off as soon as you saw I didnt agree with you, you would see that I suggested that indeed, this may have begun as a northern plot against GEJ.

And then you would say that it wasn't El-Rufai that was accusing Ihejirika, it was a white man! Another lie. The white man has his own goal and mission, and someone fed him a diversionary information.
You should get a room with GenBuhari grin. I noticed there are quite a few of you on NL who like to cry "white man" anytime you hear stuff you dont like. Look, that "white man" actually risked his neck to go to an islamic area to negotiate for the release of black girls he knew nothing about. His bio is also on the web, if you want to know all the other stuff he has done. Isnt it funny, you accuse me of tribal bashing, and you have no problem attacking the "white man" because he doesnt agree with you undecided

I would respond to the rest of your post, but honestly, it was just several paragraphs of rants, no analysis, no logic, nothing to argue about. If you have an alternative viewpoint about the dire situation our country is in, please share. Im all ears.

maestroferddi: You have poor reasoning skills, I must point out.

Did you not read where the general explained that certain elements opposed the acquisition of military hardware to flush out the bandits?

Were you blind to see where the likes of El Rufai cited human right abuses and extra-judicial killing of their kith and kin at the outset of the war on terrorism?
Since when did a private citizen's opinion stop the military from getting hardware. Even a governor's plane gets grounded when he misyarns. Abeg, that makes no sense. use YOUR reasoning skills before you tell someone else to

Truckpusher: Where is the link where the white man mentioned the real sponsors?
http://www.arise.tv/headline/arise-news-now-uk-28-08-8043

quick summary:

1. this man seems to think GEJ is innocent. In fact GEJ hired him and was using him to negotiate the release of chibok girls
2. He claims Ihejirika was already known to be a BH commander, and that info was only confirmed by BH commanders he met on ground.
3. According to him, they were close to a peace deal with BH. But he suspects the upcoming election was a reason for politicians eg Senator Modu Sheriff to sabotage that peace process. He said even the 3 sons of some politician who carried out an abuja bombing are known, but no one is touching them.
4. The Nigerian army is blind to BH movements. This is in spite of western nations promising to share intelligence with the nigerian army. He wonders why the US, Britain etc refuse to warn the nigerian army even when they know what is coming. In his words, "there is soemthing very very very wrong with the cooperation in place" shocked
PoliticsRe: El-Rufai Is Boko Haram’s Executive Commander – Ihejirika by birdman(m): 12:33am On Aug 29, 2014
For me, this is crazy, because I have always been a staunch Ihejirika supporter. An easterner as COAS looked like the right move, as it would show Nigeria could trust any tribe at the helm of power. So I am very reluctant to believe the Australian's accusations. But I am also logical, and two things trouble me about Ihejirika's rebuttal. It makes no sense. First, El Rufai doesn't have the power to stop the FG from doing anything, much less procure arms. If you knew Rufai was guilty, why not apprehend him? You had no problems apprehending senators. You even wanted to arrest the emir of Kano. Who is El Rufai?

Secondly, when an innocent man is accused, he maintains his innocence. Trying to divert attention back onto Rufai makes Ihejirika look like he is trying to muddy the waters with tribal baiting so he can hide. These two points make me think Ihejirika is lying, and calls his character into question sad.

When I look at the fresh, well armed troops invading Ekiti and Osun over peaceful elections, and I see the rag tag, badly armed troops supposedly defending us from an existential threat, I understand that at a really high level, there are generals who want the BH war to continue. Would a northern general perpetrate this kind of trouble? Initially sure. But at this stage, when the northern big wigs are dying, it seems unlikely. Again this implicates a non-northern army general.

To me, it looks like the northerners may have started the BH thing to rub pepper in GEJ's eyes. Someone in the GEJ administration got a diabolical dream, and decided to "help" the northerners by allowing BH to grow. And we are where we are today. I for one hope Ihejirika is not implicated, because not only would this give the North a reason to execute a coup, the chance of an Igbo man ever getting close to power in the future in Nigeria (if Nigeria remains) is probably zero. I'm hoping this is the reason GEJ fired him, because it would at least prove that GEJ is innocent here. Weak, but innocent.

GenBuhari: Saro Wiwa does not count because he was not murdered he was convicted by a military tribunal after a full trial and due process and his sentence was execution.

It has since transpired that Shell had framed Saro Wiwa and bribed witnesses to get Saro Wiwa convicted- this was not Abacha fault he simply allowed the legal process run its course.

The others you mentioned cannot be blamed on Abacha because they were not killed in regime's custody anybody could have killed Kudirat. In fact it is illogical that Abacha would kill Abiola's wife whilst keeping Abiola himself alive in prison. She was probably killed by the same dark forces that eventually killed Abacha and Abiola, in order to de-stablise his regime.
Wao! Saro Wiwa had due process? Soyinka fled for nothing? Sgt Rogers? Al Mustapha? Activists walking into SSS HQ and not coming out? Dear God. Lol. So you are a hypocrite. And you have the balls to criticize GEJ. Im bookmarking this thread, so that if I catch you attempting to form nonsense about good governance on any other thread, I can point your listeners to this thread.

You are not open to anything stop deceiving yourself. In this thread alone, we can see how you draw conclusions, and frankly it is scary. GenBuhari: You have basically confirmed that you choose to form your opinion from the white man's portrayal and demonisation of him in their news stories and hollywood movies.

Am I right or wrong?
Wrong. I dont care if the facts come from a white man or a black man. I have a brain, and I can judge information from several sources to come up with a conclusion. Unlike you, I am not swayed by 2 minute videos. Since you like to read what you want into my statements, let me put this in bold for you: I look at at what Idi Ami says, what his detractors and his supporters say, and then I look at his actions (they speak louder than words).

Wait why am I even arguing with you undecided? Arent you one of those dudes who thinks Abacha is good guy because he was against western imperialism. In your rush to anoint black saviours, you forget the same man murdered Saro Wiwa, Kudirat, Pa Rewane and a host of others. Your eagerness to find facts fitting your narrative would make you ignore those crazy Abacha days when simply driving by the SSS complex in Abuja would make almost break into a sweat. Even the fearless Soyinka had to be convinced to flee. So, if you want to hide in your den of ignorance, it is your own wahala. Just realize that you sound very unwise to most thinking people.

GenBuhari: Have you watched the videos, I have posted on this channel? undecided

It seems that you must be forming your opinion from the white man's portrayal and demonisation of him in their news stories and hollywood movies
What videos did you post? The under 5 minutes of cherry picked information? Just because propaganda is coming from an african mouth doesnt mean I check my brains at the door. How he got into power, how he stayed in power and why he was removed are well documented. This is the lens through which I view Idi Amin, not the flowery words he and his kin keep speaking. Frankly, I dont even care about his personal life.

Regardless of whatever good intentions he thought he had, he was a British stooge. And the reason they chose him as their stooge was because he wasnt the sharpest tool in the shed. He definitely want a Sankara. And while he may have realized his foolishness later on, it was too late, mostly because he dug his grave with his own hands. Hear that? Not the white man's hands. His own hands. So for the love of God, stop rambling about white man's protrayal of this or that. I am making up my own mind from freely available information, Google is your friend.

GenBuhari: No body can say he was not intelligent.
He may not have been educated but he was not unintelligent.

In any case intelligence and education does not equate to good leadership. What matters is common sense , patriotism and the best policies for your country.
you keep missing the point. I have eyes. I can see for myself what Idi Amin said and did. And based on that, he was not very intelligent. And I can see why the British chose him as their stooge. You on the other hand have a need to make African leaders into messiahs even when they are not deserving of it. If you praise those who do good and those who do evil just to fit your narrative, your praise becomes meaningless.

GenBuhari: you need to start allowing the white man to write our own history (about African leaders) for you and do your own research about them.

When I discovered that Abacha never looted and was a great leader, I decided to take another look at all the other African leaders that have been demonised by their former colonial masters and the white man in general. It is an eye opener that most have been the good leaders for their people.
Did you see me quoting any white man anywhere? I dont need a phd to see idi amin was not the sharpest tool in the shed. Its probably why they chose him too

Seriously, people stop it. They have nothing in common. Only God knows the hearts of Buhari and Idi Amin. One thing is for sure. Idi Amin was a buffoon in addition to being a stooge. Buhari was a wise disciplinarian. Their roads do not in any ways cross.

anonymous6: I never said they aren't doing anything but this is more then just grassroots issues
Some issues don't need sides or have sides it is more deeper then that, and in the Ferguson case, this is a American issue. You don't hear Africans complain or accuse african americans not speaking out to the world to help the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, Guinea and Sierrea Leone. You don't hear Nigerians complain about African american not helping them during the boko Haram issue, you know why cause it is not a african american issue in the end of the day. The apartheid was a special case that not only involved Africans and african americans fighting against it but many other races and nationalities got involved because the apartheid had no place in modern times. I feel it is wrong of you to accuse any one of being on the oppressors side just so you can force a agenda on a community, on a issue that isn't theres.

Sorry I don't agree that any African are deceiving themselves here
You know what, this is what we constantly do undecided. When ebola hit w. africa, we looked the other way because "it was not our problem" just like you said. But then it got to Lagos, and now its our problem. Peradventure ECOWAS countries had gathered to contain it in Guinea, we would not be where we are today, begging other countries to deliver us with vaccines. And you know, you may think what you are saying makes sense, but it is the root of our issues. We wait for the problems to arrive at our doorstep before we tackle it angry.

Let me be clear, there are a lot of policies the US could have passed that would adversely affect Nigeria, if not for a good number of influential black folk calling the government to the carpet. Even under the Obama administration, there are instances of nigerian americans and other blacks making sure we didnt get sanctioned when we wholesale refused Africom. If the black political class in the US loses its power, best believe just like Ebola found its way from Guinea to Lagos, the crap they are enduring in the US will find its way to you.

Enough with the excuses. Its either you stand for something, or stay with the status quo and wait for the suffering to reach you. WAKE UP!
Foreign AffairsRe: There Is A Race Riot Going On In America Right Now!! by birdman(m): 2:45am On Aug 19, 2014
anonymous6: African americans need to start helping themselves in their community
How do you know they aren't already? Ever since the trayvon martin incident, folk have been preparing at a grassroots level. Remember that Ferguson is a low working class neighborhood, meaning they live paycheck to paycheck. Disrupt a few days of work, arrest a couple and this protest should be over. But it isnt. Major news outlets are not carrying it, but there are grassroots organzations lining up lawyers and money to push this case. Even the FG knows the genie is out of the bottle and has called for the national guard. The reason you arent hearing more of the grassroots mobilization is no one wants blacks in dozens of other small towns to start getting ideas.

and Black africans from their respective countries need to fix their internal problems first then joining outside problems.
Why not do both? Remember the pressure black americans and nigerians applied to bring apartheid down? Even with Reagan, Cheney etc fighting all the way. some africans may be deceiving themselves, but the truth is no one has the luxury of sitting on the fence on important issues like this. If you do not choose a side, you are on the oppressor's side by default.

AjanleKoko: The question then is: what are the lives, values, and expectations of Nigerians?
We seem to be assuming that this culture thing is a unique challenge that only applies to black people or Nigerians. Second-generation Chinese and Indian people living in the West also have this challenge. Even I who was born, grew up, and live in Nigeria, am caught in both minds. In my mind, I definitely identify with my Yoruba roots, and am comfortable with my identity as an African, but my values are not necessarily shaped by Yoruba or African stereotypes. Does that now make me a 'bad African'?
Of course not. Culture is by definition always changing, and any culture that doesnt change dies. I consider being able to think outside cultural stereotypes a good thing, afterall the cultural practices of the Yoruba for example were started by somebody and morphed into what they are today. My point was that the evolution of thought process, values and culture has to be organic and done with common sense. A lot if the values I see younger folk imbibing do not pass this smell test. They (we) wholesale import ideas without considering wether they are beneficial to us or not.

Missy89: This is very wrong! US Europe and Japan doesnt print money and get away with it. no one print more money to pay for debts .
has nothing to do with militarily.

The reason why US prints money daily is because the dollar is used in the Oil trade and since it is done daily, there are high demands for the dollar which makes the value stable regardless of the amount in circulation.
It is a risky system of course and it can backfire if the dollar is no longer used for trading but that is highly unlikely because the US is very stable and it actually got this privilege after the end of the war.
For example, lets say US owes China $1billion in 2010 and decides not to pay for 10 years. Instead, if the federal reserve printed enough money to cause a 1% yearly increase in inflation, that $1billion dollar debt will be worth $990million in a year in terms of spending power, because an item that used to cost $10 will now cost $11. In 10 years, that debt would be worth approximately $905million (its the same math you use for compound interest). In actuality, China loaned the US money at a certain interest rate so you dont lose value as fast, but you get the point. If I print enough money, I can make the debt I owe you worthless.

This is also the reason why everyone is in the stock market now, even if they don't want to be. Its the only safe investment that is rising in correspondence with inflation. If you keep your money in the bank, you will be losing spending power. It also explains why companies are seeing increased revenue, but are still laying off. The revenue increase is partly from increased money circulation, which masks the bad economic fundamentals still out there.

SpencerLewis: Birdman (aka nwa nnunu) u are not making sense. Is not a matter of military strength. If not Russia would have been very rich like the USA. USA's wealth has nothing to do with their military might. Instead their economic might gave way to their military might as they were able to finance researches, educations and these attracted more and more immigrants with their expertize knowledge.
just so you know, Russia and China just signed an agreement to trade with each other without using the dollars.

As for which came first, military might or economic might, you will do well to take a look at the revolutionary war where military might was used to stop paying taxes to the British. You can also look for how the army arrived in Japan and demanded they trade with the US. While you are at it, feel free to look up the history of the marines, how it was formed to fight the barbary (arab) pirates that were bent on destroying the maritime trade of the US which would kill its budding economy. All this in the first 50 or so years of existence. Then come back and tell me if you still feel economic power came before military
