Would have just applied for the two at the same time. Which other province do you think have good package for overseas skilled workers?

Hi, the delay is not peculiar to you as there are people who applied via FSW since 2014 and they are still waiting for feedback after receiving PER. Going by the trend just discussed, it wouldn't hurt to pause a bit and wait for a remark.

Yes, people go for remark elsewhere but how come the marker made a mistake in multiple choice section. Was he/she sleeping while marking it? A whole band for that matter!! That corresponds to marking 3 -6 correct answers wrong!!! It is totally unacceptable!!
If it is writing or speaking, that can still be subjective but not multiple choice sections.

Good point, there is certainly room for improvement.

Wow!! good to hear that you got your score changed. Amazingly, your listening score was changed. As vcole said, naija branch of British Council needs to be audited as they tend to allocate random scores to people.

I think you might be able to use your statement of results, if it is available.

Actually, British Council alone does not mark and grade the IELTS tests. They do it in conjunction with IDP Education, Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment Centre. The tests are collected after completion and randomly distributed among the three bodies to mark for fairness and to enhance QA/QC. I know of persons who took the IELTS tests in Australia and the UK for immigration and still had to go for remark, it's not limited to British Council Nigeria

Yes indeed its faster. For my brother-in-law, it took him just 5 months or so with Express Entry, he landed here last December.

Its generally faster now for Express Entry applicants but we still have many FSW 2014 applicants yet to have the process completed. Priority is being given to Express Entry applications so you are in the fortunate bracket. All the best.

ok boss where you able to track it...?? 2 weeks is long To be honest, I cant remember now. At that point, I was already sure I was getting the visas and was more concerned in putting my affairs in order. I've actually been following Canadian FSW immigration programme since 2011 and been advising people on how to process it since 2012 when I sent my 1st application which was returned due to NOC already filled by the time they got my package. FSW was suspended in 2013 and reopened in 2014 when I tried again. That led to my getting the visa in 2015, 10 months later. I was already comfortable with the process so I wasn't bothered with when they would return the passports. It's not like now that AVO has been perfoming below our expectations. The problem is not with UPS or DHL but AVO
am even confused where to post it cos could be at work or at home,, but i want to be the one to sign. Since packages are delivered mostly in the day, opt for office

Congrats. I used UPS, Gbagada and the Visa office returned the passports with COPRs under 2 weeks.

@blackbuddy, you are mistaken. There's a difference between a "Pick Up Mail"(PUM) and "Passport Request"(PPR). @fusion23's application has been approved and closed!. He/she doesn't have to wait for 3 weeks before getting a PUM. You should expect it within 24-48 hours. If you don't get it, send a mail to Accra. In normal situations, your application should be treated(closed) within a month after PPR, which is exactly what happened in @fusion23's case. Yes there is a difference between PUM and Passport request. And yes, we have had persons who experienced protracted delays from when PUM/PPR requests were made to them and they responded till when they got the next communication. You can't 'tell my story for me', lets be clear on that You're also mistaken about the individual that had to wait for 6 months after PPR. I recall that he was meant to upload a form in his account which he didn't, hence the delay. After ordering GCMS notes, the error was spotted and his consultant made the necessary corrections. His "PUM" soon arrived after that. You must be referring to another individual as the person I'm referring to packaged his application himself
Edit: In my haste to dispel your worries, I forgot to congratulate you. Congratulations!. Your application pace is remarkable. If you don't get the PUM within 48 hours, you can allow up to 72* hours before mailing them.

i saw someone get hers late last year in just 3 weeks total..it wasnt express entry thou it was husband sponsorship so it was paper application not online..but was still accra visa office.

please during ur time did u use dhl or vfs..am wondering if i can track the application on its way back as most likely will be at work..i used dhl so expecting a pick up mail and not vfs

hmmm am a bit confused..the question you commented on was not on passport request ..i ask that question earlier and people commented that it varies..am asking how long does it take to get pick up mail from when the application is closed ..and approved... It varies, there is no time table for it but depends on the officer handling your file. This one can be 2 weeks to 5weeks based on my experience with applicants.

so the misunderstanding from me ..is where you commented on..and so since u have gotten urs , how long did yours take? I stated that mine took 3 weeks in 2015 but that was before the current backlog at AVO

for the gentleman he could have ordered ggms note or something like that .. and yes have had so so many stories especially on canadavisa.com GCMS note revealed nothing, the man's file was very okay based on the notes. It was just lack of movement from the review officer. If you know canadavisa, then you know me there as PH

If a passport request was sent and may be security was not done , then there is a delay or may be the person didnt send all that was required like imm008 form..but when an application is approved and closed then thats final...i sent my passport 3 weeks ago thou.

Your question was about passport request and I answered you with an example for it, not application duration. The gentleman applied through EE was requested to send his passports in July, no further documents were requested. He did not get it till December 2016 with the visas and COPRs. I got my passport request in March 2015 and got the passports and COPR back in April, 3 weeks later. I landed here June 2015 through FSW. I perfectly understand your question, it's left for you to understand the answer

It could range from 3 weeks to 6 months. We have someone who got his family's passports back in December after sending it to Accra in July last year. Just brace yourself

I graduated since 2005, my mates have collected their certificates but they say mine hasn't been signed. (In progress) However, I have been using my statement of result for employment for yrs now.

If you feel your school will respond to a verification request from an evaluation agency based on the statement of result, by all means go ahead and pursue your ECA.

Sent my masters degree for evaluation by IQAS on 19th dec, got a receipt confirmation on 22nd dec and today 18th jan I was sent my evaluation report thus; Comparative levels of achievement in Canada: The masters degree generally compares to the completion of a masters degree with a focus in international relations and strategic studies.
Is above evaluation good to go? Yes it is

Secondly, can one evaluate statement of result,If certificate isn't ready yet? If the certificate has not been approved by the school concerned and released to you, the school will not respond on it to the evaluating agency. In other words, if the certificate has not been released by the school, it cant be evaluated. If it's that the certificate has been released but you are yet to collect yours, then you can use the statement of result

Nebosh IGC is not an educational qualification but rather a professional, safety training course. It may not be evaluated as equivalent to a Canadian educational qualification for it to be considered under 2 or more certificates... However, you can send it and your Bsc for evaluation, the service will cost you the same wether you evaluate one certificate or ten. When the ECA/evaluation comes back, you will know where you fall, cheers.

How do I go about becoming a legal guardian for a minor? The minor is my husband's brother. He is 8 years old and we've been responsible for his upkeep for about 5 years. This is because I want to include him in my ITA application as my dependant/child, or if I can't claim him as a dependant, can my husband do that?

Will this fly with CIC? or do we have to go the adoption route? The fear we have concerning the adoption route is the time it will take to process, and we have less than 90 days now to submit our documents. Also, it seems going the family class sponsorship route means he can't be included in the info being provided about the rest of the family so he would have to wait in Nigeria pending the time the family class sponsorship is being processed, which CIC calculated as 32 months.

Please can anyone suggest an easier alternative?

Your best bet is to start the process of adopting the child. The fact that the process may be long should not deter you from doing the right thing. Canada will not allow you move that child if he is not released to you through adoption process where you become the child's legal guardian and hold the papers to prove this. Start the process and include the adoption application papers to your application so that you pursue both PR visa and adoption at the same time. You can also fast track the adoption process as the boy is your husband's relative and this is Nigeria where the 'right incentive in the right place' will help you get it fast. Once adoption is complete, you update the Visa Office. Getting a family lawyer to aid you in the process will be a smart move, nairaland is not the best place to find advice on this sensitive issue.

By now, you must have received enough feedback to know he can't use the ICAN which is not recognized as equivalent to a Canadian educational qualification. He only has one educational qualification which is the Bsc that is equivalent to a Canadian qualification. Hope this satisfies your enquiry.

Which is a better option?

Express Entry would be a better option as you get a Permanent Residency visa which gives you more priviledges (you enjoy the rights and benefits of a citizen) and brings you closer to citizenship. Student visa comes with limited priviledges, no access to public health or civil subsidies and you'll still have to apply through various means available to get PR. A good way to enter the country but a 'long thing' in the end.

Estonia is in Europe, near Russia. I'd advise your friend to just pursue his Cyber Security education in Canada directly rather than going to UK first then coming to Canada later. The University of Waterloo and University of Manitoba both offer Cyber Security, cheers.

Hi, you'll have to formally adopt the child. There's a government office at Alausa for this, please check with them for the full guidelines. With the formal adoption papers, you'll be able to add the child to your PR application.
