stainlink:My brother, sorry for your loss, but on the issue we're talking about, trust me, no be so o. If everyone just reacted emotionally to their eXperience, it would exactly be a jungle and in that jungle, many innocent people will get roped in. I was around in the early '80s in Lagos and I know what I heard and saw. There's a complex argument for all this which will even put the robber on the side of victim of society too, but let's just leave that for another day. There are laws and there are punishments prescribed by law. That's the way of a civilised society of human beings and even there, mistakes do get made and people have been wronglyput to death by the state! |
lanreajax:Seems you're yet to reconcile yourself to the fact that Nigeria is a jungle. The animals in the jungle won't agree with you of course. Most don't know any better |
This OP no know anything. I'm sorry for you. You're terribly close-minded. Better go and find the woman who will go and work for you while you also stay home as a king, commanding everybody. When you try, you'll quickly learn to respect your in-law for the feat he's pulled off. You neva know anything. Better go back to your mother's house and there you can prove right and wrong |
NaijaShipping:To advertise is not the end of the job. It is even more important to respond to people who contact you from the adverts you place yourself. Could you please respond to my e-mail. Thank you |
Fact is Nigeria doesn't run a separation-of-power democratic government. We are a society that champions the leader to have ultimate power and liability for whatever happens in the country. In other words, our psyche has not advanced beyond monarchichal rule. We expect the president to come and decide how the legislature should run and how the judiciary should run and personally spend the resources of the government however he deems fit (ditto state governors). The totality of the problems in Nigeria is societal - everyone is to blame as everyone is on that level of backwardness. Can you tell me why it should be the president's call whether to obey or not court orders? Are the courts tthemselves responsible and consistent in their judgments? Nigeria is one huge joke |
I have to stop reading this thread as it will cause me further pain. I know we are savages but it helps if I don't see examples where they justify their SOCIETAL BACKWARDNESS |
Atlantian:To prove how small our minds are, can you tell me who stopped you from contesting for governor of Lagos? Voters will vote and no law in the world can tell someone what to like. Just for the record, some people of Ibo origin are representing parts of Lagos in the Federal House of Reps. Black man is still a savage and was never supposed to know there was a modern world. Nothing stopped the Western world from just coming here, defeating us militarily, and taken whatever resources they needed and left us as we were. Would have been better for us as we are not ready to progress |
StuntingBlack:YOU ARE A FOOL! I don't care what Nairaland moderators say or do. You are a direct example why Africa will never progress until the lot of you (the majority) die off this earth. Let me tell you starkly ignorant person, no one is a stranger in any part of the country to which he legally originates in the world of 2015. You may relish the savage days of your ancestors where they differentiate "indigene/settler" but sadly, we live in the modern world where humanity is divided into COUNTRIES and every citizen of each country has all the rights of anyone else in that same country. Your so-called education has been a waste but take solace in the fact that most Nigerians are also as dumb as you. I weep for this country; I wish I was never an African - they're just a step higher than the apes: fact! |
stteejax:I've often told people that but sadly, human beings are born to follow. Only very very few are guided by their own minds and they're supposed to be the leaders. Sadly it's all jumbled and that's not the case, hence society is in disarry |
Has anyone ever seen a real road map of Ibadan, complete with a grid and legend to help locate places fast? Of course not. It only exists in my laptop. This is an untransferrable sample. I'm sure corpers and new students would find such stuff useful
|
From the beginning of Ibadan, a place called Challenge, if you took a bus going to Gate, your experience of Ibadan would be completely different from one who took a bus from same Challenge to Mokola/Dugbe. There are 2 ibadans: the original rust-roof is a whole "city" of its own (as my 1st photo shows) and then the one trying to modernise. You can live in one and be almost completely oblivious of the other. |
KAYCEEJUNIOR:Here! I'm also a photographer and took these a few days ago
|
OP, I think you should go and get a life. Clearly, you can't handle the reality of the world. Fact is nothing is happening today that did not happen before your grandfather was born; there's just a phone now to share it widely via the internet. So abeg stop displaying your ignorance |
philtex:Not available sadly. I tried to make it a business as I always think out new things. First of all, to convince Nigerians about buying something they're not used to, na WAEC. They would make you fail in business because you tried something new. Second problem is that the cost of sending them down far outweigh the price of the commodity itself. The only way to get around that is to be a wealthy businessman and import large quantities by sea, but me I be poor man, blessed with the capacity to think but cursed to be born where it is not appreciated. My professional camera began its descent into ruin because of a problem of fungus which would have been prevented if I had the substance in my camera bag. This is what led me to the research on it. Cheers |
ajbabs:Glad to find one person from Agbowo on nairaland. That area is an area for thugs and low lives. I feel like crying for investing my resources to staying there when I decided to return to Ibadan. The light situation has only just improved like 4 days ago. For months now we used to have some days of no light AT ALL. Lack of money and a hope that I would find civilised ppl, being that close to UI brought me to Agbowo. Now, I don't know if I will die in poverty there as they're unable to patronise my type of business but thugs attempt to extort money from me and life is generally a misery if you're not a lowlife like most of them are. This must be the Mushin of Ibadan |
Nothing consain these lunatics with fuel subsidy. This is no longer the military era and the people should know how to reach their government. They've put their man as a governor of a state, that is enough for them. These people are part of Nigeria's problems. They should concentrate on labour issue and don't tell me this or that is related or else everything can be linked to workers in a larger sense |
celebgists:This is a very very senseless assertion indeed. What do you know about photography? Give TY Bello a point-and-shoot and no access to the biggest men in Nigeria and give some mediocre photographer a Nikon D810 with a lens costing some millions of naira and with access to presidents and come and tell me who the better photographer is. Crap! Privilege has killed Nigerian brain. They equate privilege with talent. What a pity |
Since his debut around 1994 that I've been watching him, this is the first time I'm hearing he was born 1970. Could you please provide evidence before I assimilate this correction? I've watched many of these people grow up on TV |
allthingsgood:Did you know in the battle of Stalingrad, Stalin sent 2 men with one rifle to battle the onrushing Germans? One was to hide behind the other and if that one got shot, he took the rifle and fought on. You people have NO IDEA what military is. Shebi some very very dumb, foolish activists were even attacking the govt and politicising the issue during the trial. In the army, you can be told to go and collect a bullet and die and you must do it or else your own commander will order you to be shot dead. Most of you Nigerians don't know nothing. You think the world was built by fun and games, with Davido and Whizzkid, with Aki and PawPaw. That's why oyibo doesn't think black man is a real human being |
Demmocrats:My dear, pardon is dangerous. I support it here but it is not right. Personally I regret all the stupid forgiveness I ever gave anyone. It only encourages ppl to do bad things on purpose and plead later, hoping to be pardoned. As far as I'm concerned, forgiveness is the cause of so many problems we still face today as human beings. Nature doesn't forgive: it is cause and effect. If you jump from a ten-story building, you can not apologise to nature - you will crash and die, full stop. So think before acting. That will cure the world of much of its problems |
Nigeria is a jungle and whatever you might think, only wild animals live in a jungle. There's nothing new. I've long said all this and told those with the influence what the way out is; but of course the pig has no idea the swamp is a bad place |
The OP only betrays the sick mentality of most Nigerians. Has he ever bothered to find out what attachment Adenuga has with the "hometown" sef? We continually expect an all-conquering hero to come build up his hometown and when those in government steal and use a pittance out of it to "build their hometown", they're glorified. It is the people with their govenment that must build anywhere, not one guy you trap to the place by virtue of lineage. This is 2015 for crying out loud: STOP "INDEGENE" |
Djicemob:That's the greatest thing that ever happened to Nigeria and for which future generations will acknowledge Jonathan. Now, who really is the "Dundee"? |
Explorers:That was Jan 1967, an incredibly childish way to attempt to solve such a massive problem about to devastate Nigeria. Of course it fell flat on its face |
Explorers: |
menesheh:A support group is not an advocacy group oga. I am the one who needs the support, not the Nigerian populace. I want to be able to go take a beer with you or whoever else. I want to be able to attend your birthday party or sth like that. I want to be able to feel security for once. You people need to understand this. Everything isn't about fighting people with crazy mindsets. Sometimes you also want to be with people with the right mindset, or at least something similar. Think about it |
dammyconcept:These issues have long been settled in those civilised countries before one from the jungle showed up, after applying for a visa permission to go there. Did he leave his country to go to another man's country to better them, while his country is a cesspit? NO. He went there to escape the outcome of his society's folly only to go there and practise same folly. Black man is the scum of the earth; it is only the black man that hasn't realised |
ayodele123:People have been in the "last days" before they born your ancestors. Mumu, how long will they keep fooling you? By the time you old, die, the people around who are also dumb will be talking of last days. The fact that you were born where Christianity is the foolishness makes you think the world is defined by Christianity. You are in mental slavery and can not understand me. The first thing religion takes from you is your belief in your own ability to reason. Once that is gone, you're in mental captivity ad infinitum |
menesheh:Let us form a support group. This reality of each of us suffering on his own amidst the horde of these barbarians doesn't pay me, I don't know about you. I've NEVER had one person in my immediate vicinity who was secular and enlightened on this issue. I've only stood galantly on my own against the attack of religion-gullible people and the harm they've caused me is immeasurable. We've not used the internet well in this country. The internet should be a means to an end and not the end itself. I used to live in Lag but I've now moved out. I'm in a university environment in Ibadan but yet there are no intellectuals in that community, only religion robots. This is how much damage religion has done to this country that even where people should know better, they absolutely don't. |
politricks:It is you that doesn't know. What about the people here as previously said? Why don't they invest their own "skills and experiences..." NOBODY shd talk about the lucky ones that have escaped this jungle. So many others are still looking to escape. Nigerians are a failed people. No foreign expert is needed. Our values are our disease and anything invested will be wasted. Hey, I'm also from abroad o. I know how to better society and have spend much of my time trying to prevail on the champions of Nigerian backwardness to reason with me so we can take necessary action. No one. They hope I will fade away and die quietly and so far, they're succeeding. Ordinary people have no idea what's going on |
