The way people in backward societies explain everything in terms of "God" and those who created the world in which those backward people measure themselves by never do is instructive in explaining why each is how they are |
months:OK, I'm Bini. I'm a Nigerian too. The Bini empire was so great, they ruled all the way to Lagos. The Ibos were still near-savages who had not evolved to forming even monarchical government (they deceive themselves by saying they were democrats/republicans; why are they now forming kingship?) I no gree until Bini man is president! You people are so dumb; who told you only Ibo and Yoruba has access to the presidency from the south? With all the setback Ibo has caused Nigeria, they even particularly do not deserve Nigerian presidency until we find one in the manner of Azikiwe whom you jingoists mocked and destroyed in favour of your tribal champion Ojukwu. Yeye ppl. I don't want to hear anybody tell me Ibo must be president because its their turn. What turn? It is the turn of Edo, or junkun, or Gwari. You know how many ethnic groups exist in Nigeria? The North has done remarkably well as we always talk of "North" and not Hausa, Fulani. You know the ethnic group of Gowon, Babangida? I bet they're Hausa/Fulani to you cos we're so dumb in the South. The only problem with the North is Islam; other than that they're 1000 times better than the South politically |
GenOrumov:Somebody hold una before? "Special status" = demanding for more national cake. When will each state see itself as self-contained and generating income to contribute to the national purse rather than an excuse to take from? Ehn?! Lagos is what it is because of 1861 - 1991, no reason else: the people there are just like any other Nigerians (incapable) |
kessgreen:What do you know? I'm amazed by people who talk crap and don't want to be told the meaning of what they said |
cramjones:If you did not know that Nigeria has long been a functionally failed state, I don't know what to make of your wisdom then. I don't mind when ignorant people attack me for being a hater but I would wish those who laid claim to any knowledge to know better. The process by which you rise in the Nigerian ladder is such that you must be part of the failed understanding of how government works and if you think otherwise like me, they simply deny you a voice and force you to rot away as I am. That debate by which you seek to prove your point, you'll never get it. If you don't know me on Twitter, at least on here you can see my posts where I always say Nigeria is a joke. There's no way to summarise Nigeria but by that way; everything is wrong here. If it attempts to be right, someone comes and kills it! |
OP, you should declare that every MSc holder who couldn't get a job but would like to drive a taxi should come forward and you would provide the taxi on any terms and see if you would cope with the number you find. You're out of touch with reality; you don't know the situation we are in in this country. Do you know how much a car costs? This is a joke. People want to do better business with capital half the cost of a car, they can't find it and you come here and talk self-righteously. This is a joke! |
franchizy:And who exactly is the senior to all these people just given the appointment? Nigeria is like a rotten yam where people say if we peel the outside the yam will be edible inside, not knowing its all same. The outside are the leaders, the inside is the rest of Nigeria |
yaki84:Let me shock Nigerians that are averse to hearing the truth and are holier than thou: if all the money corrupt ppl stole were kept in Nigeria, our nation would be 1000 times better off. But because the thieves know Nigerians are like you, they take the money out and hence we are poor. Do you believe that? Yet it is the truth. In Arab countries, one man owns a whole country as king. He owns more than Nigeria, but since his society allows that, he doesn't hide it in another country and hence his citizens don't become poor. Money and economy means more than we understand here. |
sirklin:Your complaint is the opposite of what knowledgeable people would do. How do you think the world came to the modern age? If I told you what doctors did to explain your body to you, I'm sure you'll reject their medicines |
Another idle joke once more. If you want to understand why Nigerians don't know nada, come to find out their discussions on nairaland. Maybe this latest clown sculptor will get a scholarship from an equally dumb governor or something. I won't explain; it's just too far to begin. My fellow engineers may have a clue |
Nigerians do not know what to prioritise or take as important or not. We have no idea how nations should develop. What if anyone flies a jet? I thought he piloted it sef. If he can afford it, we need to increase our GDP by letting money move around more. He pays the jet charter company, they pay their pilots, pilots pays market woman for foodstuff etc. That's how economic activity and wealth increases in a country. I've been looking for who to buy my security devices since, I no see. So all the people I would have patronised if I were patronised won't see my money cos I don't have any. Now go out and spend some money! |
FOLLEY20:Yes, it is also a result of everybody reaching 20something and saying they must begin to have children everywhere, whether there is economic crisis or not. Of course nobody tells you that and no one has the ability to think in this country, only to follow-follow. IT WILL GET WORSE, remember that. When we get to 400 million while born born is our creed and there is no creation of value, we will resort to killing and eating one-another (just kidding but I'm frustrated). Not long ago we were c.65million and Gowon said we had so much money we didn't know what to do. Now we have jumped to 170+ million and each one is raring to grow up quickly and begin to born his own crowd. It is a geometric increase if you understand mathematical terms. We shall see! |
Yeye ppl. These ones were out to make money and aren't hardened yet, or else they would have just killed the poor girls since the business had flopped. Some even collect ransom and still kill the victims. Whatever happened to patronising us doing electronic security and surveillance to prevent this in the first place? What is wrong with the people of this country? The parents all arrived and blocked school with all manner of cars? The security devices would not cost even half the value of the smallest car. They obviously prefer to do "dry fast" and prayers. Ok, until when kidnappers progress to killing their victims, we will see what "God" has to say about that as things, once begun, only get worse in this country . |
willibounce1:I hate that word "cheat" as it doesn't apply in Nigerian system. Women here want to be property and are available only to those who can afford them. How can you say I cheat when I'm enjoying what my money afforded me? I've run out of money for years now and it is the exact period also that I haven't caught any fish. If you discuss any such thing with especially girls, they'll tell you you're not respecting yourself - you that you know you don't have "anything" (usually a flashy car, good home and money to waste on them). I no complain o, I accept the game. When I get money again, I go to market and point-and-kill the fishes I like, according to how much I can afford to eat! PS: lastly, who pays price on the other during marriage? Does that apply to the places where the word "cheat" originated? Women in Nigeria WANT to be property but they want to be very expensive property |
MrMcJay:Yaaaaay I don die! If all this is true - of one single person - that girl must have very convincing talents and skills known only to those privileged men! |

Did Dele Momodu write that piece I just read? I won't be surprised if he now has shadow writers as my assessment of him before I withdrew suggests that he is far from the intellectual depth to master the details written in that piece. He disappointed me so much I concluded his place in Nigeria is the entertainment and praise-singing industry and not on serious policy issues and I forever stand by that assessment as people don't just change overnight |
its been long the FG executed people that's why this one is mouthing rubbish here. Maybe govt should resume regular executions so this nonentity will be silent. |
Yewandequeen:Nigeria is under a thick fog of darkness and it's inhabitants are like people living in the Dark Ages. The sad part is they have NO IDEA and think they're doing great according to the life of hypocrisy they choose to live. You know what the internet is? Try to move beyond Nairaland, ok
|
Sunnycliff:You have no idea who Obasanjo is. Trust me. He's much more than you talk about. To know him you'll have to study his life and Nigerian history; that will take you like 3-5 years full time and will need you to empty your mind of the prejudices you already hold. That's the most difficult part. It would be the honour of my life to meet this man and thank him for what he's been able to do for country. I'm in my 40s and have been studying Nigeria since 1985 |
Sexytemi:There is some kind of modelling or celebration for every fantastic feature in a lady. If you think you come close, send a pic so I explore possibilities. We're talking about bigger than Cossy's cos she really doesn't have anything |
With a fraction of that 1million naira by a single family, my company which is going underground due to no patronage would provide security gadgets to prevent or make this incident much harder to pull of for a school with so many more students, but no: they prefer I starve to death because they have other priorities with money. Ok, I now leave them to fast to death too. Penny-wise-pound-foolish will always kill Nigerians. If you reading this stuff love your lives, go and find out all the amazing security and access control and surveillance devices that abound in Nigeria with entrepreneurs like me whom you mock and make to feel useless. It is when it happens to you that you'll know how important our service is in this type of country. Her solution is dry fasting? Pathetic country. So God wasn't aware you had a child in that school to prevent the incident? Only in a foolish country like ours that people ignore real steps to take care of their lives and flock to religious houses for fraudulent interventions. Have you ever seen these top pastors in real life? Haven't you seen their bodyguards? Why didn't they let Jesus be their bodyguard? Abeg make I rest bo, I regret being born in this country |
PASCALSILVA:In 2016 which is well well into the modern world, processes exist for bringing wrongdoers to justice and laws and countries and governments exist so that one animal does not just attack another because he can physically do it. That is the effort human beings make in modern times to differentiate themselves from the animal world from which they evolved. I can see not all societies have succeeded in that effort as we still also burn thieves alive in this jungle of ours |
auntysimbiat:Are you a human being? If yes, did you go to any school? If yes, did you manage to learn anything about how people should act in 2016? |
TolaniLuv:Another future stalker. You are just an average Nigerian brought up with wrong notions. Parents are all-powerful and are always right, abi. A pity |
The problem with Nigeria is the Nigerian people themselves, a few of whom are in government. - me Ben Bruce is a hypocrite, championing the hashtag of Nigerians are not corrupt. It is to find the Nigerian who's not corrupt that the big job is, not the other way round. It is the society, stup,id! |
Pls someone help me. I found a notification here that someone e-mailed me with a link to go to my e-mail. On getting to my e-mail I couldn't make out what they were saying. They said I couldn't be contacted because I wasn't connected and I should reply the e-mail so that I could see the message. This has always happened whenever I get a private mail and I have no idea how to read it. Can anyone help? I participate in many fora but I've never seen PMs the way of Nairaland |
Maybe she's enjoying things she never before thought possible and maybe back home all she would have is a dysfunctional family with a violent father. I lived that life. Everyone in the household of failed parents would want to run away given half a chance of survival elsewhere. Such a child can't be bothered with ideology or the future; only the present matters |
missbronze:My dear sister, I mean no disrespect but you don't understand that quote. The quote is the answer to that question you still ask. I've seen other bibles that are written in today's English that will help you better understand the quote |
missbronze:"And I came and saw under the sun that: The race is not to the swift Nor the battle to the strong Nor bread to the wise Nor riches to men of understanding Nor favour to men of skill But time and chance happen to them all" I am anti-religion, but there is no greater truth in all the bible than this epic reflection of King Solomon. Forgive me if there's any error which I doubt, as I've memorised this quote Ecc 9:11 for almost 20 years as life began to destroy all my illusions |
I just contributed a post minutes ago where I described how these known Nigerians are only interested in idle talk and personal ego trips. This is one of them. That's all they do and interestingly, depending on who they're supporting/opposing, they do make lots of money from it. And you're saying black man is serious to develop? That's what the Omojuwas have learnt and are doing. People like me ready to better country are suppressed and never get heard of. Please note that it is very easy to be one of them, given the knowledge base that I have. But I have a morality which is clearly absent in the Nigerian given the way the society is. I have resisted such a base life and that's why I can easily see - everyday - why the problem with Nigeria is its people. There is no special problem that needs solving, other than for the inhabitants of this country to stop following "how they do it" and start to think about his actions with a renewed sense of morality |
Oh Nigeria. I thought it would be better with the younger generation. I waited, then I acted. No way. Now an even younger generation have come on board, only to diligently pursue the same megalomania as those old failed men. Take this from me: all the activism is about self. They don't give a hoot about country. You will observe they never build anything; they're just on news media provoking one fight or idle talk or another, desperate to prove they are at the top of all Nigerian lives. They only talk about top government, not work on a project or another with real impact on people's lives. No, it's not that they don't know any better. That has been my job: I've spent the last 4 twitter years drawing their attention to everything they don't know. It wasn't glamorous and they probably won't be the head of it all, so they run away. ALL OF THEM, NO EXCEPTIONS. They're all liars and self-obsessed egomaniacs, from Utomi to Ezekwesili; from Ben Bruce to Chude; from Dele Momodu to Ayo Obe to Funmi Iyanda. Nigeria is indeed truly cursed! |
