Hahahaha, no I don't use their services, but where I live there's a lot of pimpin' activity going on, so I sometimes see their wardrobes up close.

I've seen it all from the assless jeans, to the painted nipple, to the hot pink spandex ultra mini skirts. grin
CultureHave You Ever Lied About Your Age? by blackspade(op): 3:13am On May 08, 2009
I don't know where I should have posted this thread, so I decided to put it in Culture.

Have you ever lied about your age? If so, why? Did you ever come clean, or were you exposed?

As for me, yes, I have. One example is when I first came to this one site, I said I was 20, and put my brothers picture on my profile so more people would take me seriously. What about you?

EducationPythagorean Theorem: I Need Help (!!!) by blackspade(op): 2:58am On May 08, 2009
In my class we're going over the pythagorean therom, I'm not totally lost, but I know if I don't do anything now, I'm not going to get an A on the test.

Okay, I know the basics like: a^2 + b^2 = c^2 . . . . but I get confused when I come across a question asking me to find the missing lengths (eg. solve for x), or even worse, the word problems.

Are there any good mathematicians who can help me a bit, please?

I wear skinny jeans, I don't see anything wrong with them. For those who say only guys who are gay, or have "something small" wear skinny jeans, I have three words for you: you are wrong.

These are the type of skinnies I wear:

IMO, baggy jeans look sloppy, and they are slowly becoming unfashionable, especially in the Los Angeles area. . . . . .

. . . . . . .but, knowing how you folks back in Nigeria don't really "catch on" to things as fast as us in other parts of the world, I'll just laugh at the cursings I'm about to receive! grin

Investors Threaten to Close Shops at Calabar FTZ

7 May 2009

Calabar -- OPERATORS of businesses at the Calabar Free Trade Zone have threatened to close shops or sell at very exorbitant prices, as 87 per cent of production time was being sustained through the use of generating sets rather than power supply to the zones.

According to the Managing Director of Combination Industries, one of the firms operating in the free-trade zone, Nic Mirpuri, the company relies most of the time on generating sets to power its production equipment.

He said that as much as 47 litres of diesel was being used each hour to run the firm's machineries, adding that recently, a total of 115 hours out of the weekly 132 hours were run on generator.

According to him, with the current situation, the incentive of free-trade zones to encourage manufacturers may have been defeated unless the problem of power was tackled and solved, adding that when power exists at all in the first place, it was never a clean power (stable power supply) as there would be surges, low or high voltage which makes it most of the time unreliable and of no use to the companies. He disclosed that as the first firm to start production in the zone, he tried developing wind-energy, but was quick to add that the problem was that of distribution by the relevant authority.

Also speaking on the problem faced by the zone, the Managing Director of First Medical and Sterile Products, Dr. Isaac Nnadi said that his firm utilises a minimum of N1.5 million on one-shift of manufacturing work, adding that power remains the greatest setback for the Nigerian economy which must be solved to encourage Nigerians and foreigners alike to take the call for local production very serious. For the owners of Stonecraft Granite and Marble, Mr. Tony Aleogena-Raphael, the situation was the same as he advised that Nigeria must solve the problem of power supply if the high cost of production which was discouraging investors in the country must be addressed

Also painting the ugly situation, the General Manager of the Calabar Free Trade Zone (the government agency in charge of the zone), Mr. William Akpogu confirmed that power supply remains the bane of the zone, adding that the Calabar Free Trade Zone needs a 9.3MW energy capacity but that to ensure that the investors were encouraged to continue producing in the zone, government still subsidizes the energy needs.

@successful1

Thanks, glad you like the thread! Honestly, as of now, I wouldn't recommend you moving to California (economy is bad, people are becoming jobless in record numbers, state budget deficit). You should wait until at least mid-2010 to move here, by then the economy would have bounced improved, and the budget deficit would be a lot less. Once you get here (if you don't know anyone here), get yourself to one of the African resource centers, they will help you get yourself settled, find a job, etc. . . . . basically all the things an immigrant in a far off place would need to make it.

Los Angeles can be very expensive. Since the recession, things have gotten cheaper, but prices are still high! Other parts of the state can be affordable, like the Inland Empire (East of Los Angeles), or the Central Valley (Sacramento down to Bakersfield). These places are very affordable, especially now. In California, it's basically the closer you are to the ocean, the more you will pay. Hope this helps, be sure to check out my "Discover Los Angeles" thread. wink
