Dottore:
We are watching. I'm tired of all these pocket economic theories. Though the source of this particular article is a reputable one but the truth remains that the complexity in Nigeria's economic realities have timelessly contradicted all conventional academic economic tales hence the CBN Governor and his crew have resorted to trial and error economics.
Academic tales are not meant to be static. New experiences and percularties begets lacunas that begs for research to either prove existing ones right or wrong or add to it.

There aren't a lot of virgin carriers.
The ones you see are usually infected at birth by their mums and have grown up all their lives with the disease, coming regularly for treatment at the clinics or through blood transfusion.
Sex is the major way it's transmitted in Naija, and not just gay sex but sex between man and woman. Women too do have vaginal secretions, and can deposit. Men also catch other STIs from women like gonorrhea, syphillis, chlamydia and you'd agree with me those are quite common despite the men being the "depositors", and not the "receptors".
I understand the chances of a woman getting it from a sexual encounter is higher than a man's but I honestly don't think the difference is so much to be ignored.
We funny enough do have serodiscordant couples where one is positive and the other is negative despite being married or coupled up for years. Those ones seem to have some form of immunity against the virus.
Anyways, everyone should be responsible for their sexual health, and should always wear a condom. Partners should equally get test ed and stay faithful to one another.
I think, matrimonial style is the one that reduces the risk for the male but if the female is on top, taa no risk reduction, every na same same.
Family › Re: How Much Is Ideal To Be Giving One's Wife As Monthly Stipend? by Bluffly: 10:39pm On Jun 19, 2016
banjolek:
Hello guys,

I need your honest opinion on this, how much is really ideal to give one's wife as monthly pocket money?.

Here's my story, i recently got married and also moved to a new 3 bedroom apartment around gbagada. I earn a pretty decent income while my wife also works in the bank with a salary of like 150k. She saves a half of this salary and uses the remaining for upkeep.

Now the issue is my wife insists that i must give her monthly pocket money and i have proposed 20k, an amount i feel is more than adequate for her if added to about 75k which she already has to herself from her salary. Also note that this 20k does not mean i dont get to buy her random stuff during the month or provide anything she asks for if i feel its a reasonable demand.

A1so bear in mind that i am still 100% responsible for providing food and other bills in the house. In addition we just moved to a new apartment like i mentioned earlier and still in the process of furnishing it so a chunk of my monthly salary goes into furnishing the house.

We also have a plan to set up a business for her, so i'm also currently saving part of my salary to fulfill that dream.

Now my wife has rejected the proposed amount of 20k saying its too small.

I need your take on this people, considering all i have mentioned above, is 20k really too small to be giving her monthly?

i wrote this in a hurry, please bear with any typo observed.
Firstly, I am happy for you that you earn pretty well, secondly be prayerful about your marriage. I do not know where you met your wife or how but the fact remains you are married to her. She is your help meet and not your help drain. She is not even thankful to God, that you could spare 20k for her monthly, hmm. What is she doiing with her 75k? I'm sure its frivolities(or maybe she is saving it). If she is not contributing anything of her earnings, then I'm left to wonder why. I am sure that sexually, she will be refusing quite well as well on the basis of tiredness, bla bla bla

You need to be firm and set things straight, which everway be firm. Let her know that she should be thankful to God that your efforts to earn well is been blessed by God, there are many out there with the same efforts as yours that are earning peanuts or probably earning well and managing illness. Draw her to God, make her reason, be firm, be firm.

If you can meet her wants, meet it o but remeber that it's better to put those wants in check as she is insatiable. If you give her 50k, ater some months, she will start craving for more. Your earnings is for the family and her own earning is as well. Assuming she isn't working is a different case.

Above all pray to God before you engage her in any discussion.

30% for her to squander or to build the home.

Sire, I will tell it to your face, that 20k is too small, too small. Do you know how much tomatoes goes for now? Or meat? I suggest you add like 15k minimum, and you could be smart by telling her she will have to be in charge of buying all food stuffs.. You shouldn't even be handling that, cos it will be very expensive for you at the long run.. so I suggest you propose to her that you want her to run the house, and she should give you an estimate.. You then negotiate this estimate, and give her the bulk sum.. and everyone is happy.. Believe me, she will be adding a lot of her money every month to make up, but won't be bold enough to come ask for a raise, because you guys have reached an agreement... All the best..
Did you read the post well. He said, the 20k is for her pocket money and not for meals

Now the issue is my wife insists that i must give her monthly pocket money and i have proposed 20k, an amount i feel is more than adequate for her if added to about 75k which she already has to herself from her salary. Endure this crazy demand of hers and pray to have children first. When children comes, she will start to see herself then as a stakeholder and must contribute financially even for your domestic needs.Women are supposed to be helpmeets and not extortionists.A helper should really help.
Children or no children, if you have value you have it, if you are reasonable, you are. He needs to be prayerful with his marriage, when a wife makes such demands, means she could be easily tempted to look out for more. every Human being has an insatiable want and if not checked, one gets disatisfied and wants more at every given opportunity.

Which one is Africa. How many countries in the world do we have it? A woman has never been a president in America, even woman hasn't been a prime minister in UK, the only thing in those countries is that they follow their laws over traditions. If we follow our laws that we already have here there will be some level of protection. But in marriage which ever way, it's not possible to be equal.

If FG wants to play smart, they should simply sll at 60 naira, since there is no subsidy and leave the marketers to sell at whatever price they want. When everyone goes to buy only from NNPC, they will be forced to also regulate downwards their pump price.

This is one of the reason we may remain where we are till tomorrow because of brain drain and some people trying to unsettle the country through sponsoring of militancy, terrorism, tribalism etcetera in Nigeria. Because they know once Nigeria overcomes its differences, they will become world power influencing and spurring other African countries to aspire and replicate the same. And we know what that means. Freedom. But unfortunately we are not intelligent enough.....
The only way to stop brain drain is to drastically improve living condition in Nigeria, which includes, very clean environments, Good access roads, Constant electricity, good Hygeine conditions, sensitivity to human plights, good education system, good governance. Nigeria needs to be well arranged physically like or more than where we run to. Many Asian and African country have suffered brain drain to the benefit of the likes of USA, UK, France, and Germany

I think you are hasty in your response. In communication learn to understand the arbitrariness of a language(statement) before responding. Because the poster said "A man that chases anything in a skirt" does not mean he hates women, he could also be referring to men that love infidelity, sleeping around as they want. The last part of his statement is the truth, they will all want to have a share of his properties.

I think you should learn to seek clarification before responding, where clarification isn't possible and it affects you in no way, then ignore it.

God will surely save you from Jezebel.

you have just proved that typical to a yoruba man, you people don't know yet that you are marginalised in nigeria. Because you are too weak to speak out, and rather take the coward stance to bow to the north and feed off crumbs. If reading the 48 laws of power made u a coward, did every other yoruba man and woman do same ? What explains their own cowardice. When bode george was jailed, many yorubas fought for his release. That is a nigerian thing to be fantastically and morally corrupt and should not be used in your arguement. I have told you that the cowardice of the yorubas is a thing about their nature and not necessarily their social or political conduct. Let me ask you, truthfully and answer. If a revolution where to start, which tribe do you think would be the first to chicken out and run away at the sight of olopa ?
There is bravery and there is stupidity. Yoruba's have fought wars within themselves, killed maim, and survived. Maybe they were cowards then. A single Yoruba suggestion crippled the civil war by advising to use hunger(common sense). The difference between the Yoruba and other tribes in Nigeria is that they are more enlightened, they' ve moved distances away from been crude.
