Johnrake69: That was a statement of fact and it's to point out that the problem of the human race is practical. Manner is not going to fall from heaven. We have to know that resources are scarce and we have to manage it in a way to advance humanity. On every street there are more than 2 churches it's now a competition.
When people layed offerings at the apostles feet according to Luke in the book of Acts 4:35 it was solely for the purpose of wealth redistribution. The apostles redistributed it among the needy.
Why didn't the apostles at the time embark on elephant's project with the funds? We are now wiser than the early apostles. I'm sure there were federal and state governments at the time. If we are to go with the point you made then the apostles should have personalised the money then leaving the needy to their fate since they are not the government.
We have to realise the current setup is not working. Such wisdom. God bless you, sir. I told a pastor once that if only the Church can be more modest in her spending, our problems will start vanishing. Why does a pastor need a private jet? Will he die if he doesn't own one. Definitely not. Why does he need expensive clothes and shoes and cars? Why does he need expensive church buildings? If they can be more modest, they will not need to collect a tithe or huge donations all the time. If a pastor can fly in a commercial plane, live in a modest bungalow, dress modestly, emphasize building good Christians with scruples rather than building world-class church buildings and stadia, and encourage people to give to the poor rather than to him, people will start helping. There will be wealth redistribution. People will be less greedy and there would be no needy person in the Church, a result that would reflect in the society. It is so sad that Christians are becoming more materialistic than the "people of the world". |

salvation101: The church of God and its leadership has been under attack recently by the enemies of the Gospel and light but my great concern is how fellow Christians who are supposed to be defenders of the faith are now taking sides with the enemies of the gospel and throwing tantrums at men of God.
Deliberate Attempt by freeze (can't call him daddy) to tarnish Pastor Adeboye's image by digging back to an event that happened in 2013 (https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/142649-pastor-adeboye-under-fire-over-multi-billion-naira-3km-auditorium.html), cropping and editing a video to give it another meaning.. I have observed freeze methods, its to take an event, pick one scripture out of context in d bible and quote it in different versions in an attempt to make it seem he did his due diligence in searching the scriptures and use it to rubbish wat a man of God is doing. Wat actually happened in that video(and u can verify tru the original link to the story as published in 2013 by premium times) Pastor Adeboye proposed the expansion of the auditorium inside redeemed camp, the project would cost billions to complete so he asked for ppl in the congregation to give to the project, he started from 1 billion down till 100naira u will see it there in the link but freeze obviously left that out because it wouldn't portray the message he was trying to pass. Now come to think of it. Now come to think of it, what is wrong in a billionaire giving a billion to the work of God? Infact Jesus recognized the widows mite to be a greater offering because that was all she had but the rich man who gave more than her gave little from the abundance of what he had.. Ppl where not left out, there was room for other to give as much as they could afford to the project so why the fuss.. For those who know Pastor Adeboye's story, he is a giver. Infact when he was still a new convert in the church, the original founder of redeemed Church Pa Akindayomi asked everyone who was in church to go empty their bank accounts and bring it for the work of God and it was only Adeboye that responded even as a new convert when pastors under Pa Akindayomi refused. The test of true Christianity is absolute surrender. If u surrender ur life, den u wont withhold ur resources wen need comes for giving for the Advancement of the kingdom The leadership of which church? Did God ask anyone to establish a Church aside the one He established on the words of Peter? And supposing you insist on accusing Freeze of attacking the Church, would you also accuse him of attacking the Church when he was full of praise for T.B. Joshua's take on the issue of tithing as a Christian? Or is Joshua not also supposed to be a Church leader? |

sureheaven: When freeze or any of his household will be in trouble, he will be taken to one of those pastors he criticizes most time for deliverance, then he will know God still uses some people . God can use anyone. The person doesn't have to bear the title of pastor. Or, perhaps, you think these pastors cannot get into trouble and be healed by God through Freeze. When you say God uses people, what comes to the mind of Christians like you is that God uses pastors. But, you are wrong. God can use even a madman. In the Bible, God used pagan kings to punish Israel. God also once used a pagan king, Cyrus, to help Israel. God can use anyone. |

I'm just a free thinker... Thanks for your input again Me There is something wrong with your perception, then. I was only having fun . Threads like the one you opened yesterday have always drawn bashes from male and female Nairalanders alike. No one ever accused anyone of negativity. Or perhaps, you think you were the first to create a RATE MY PICTURE thread. Many have done so before you and got bashed. Such threads (and not the OP) are recipes for bashing and wrongly perceived negativity. |

Fidelmalek: Good morning everyone and happy Sunday to the religious folks....
I created a thread here yesterday https://www.nairaland.com/4211375/rate-picture-one-ten-definitely/9#62929389 to ask what people think about me.... Some called me Insecure, weak and other uncouth names.... I was shocked no one called me Gay, because that is the average mindset of Nigerians when they see a fine guy (I'm not referring to myself)... Why do Nigerians have this mindset? It ain't a crime to be to be handsome (and again I'm not referring to myself)
Anyways, my main purpose of abandoning the thread and account is to cool the heat that has emanated from my opening the thread...
why the hate between Nigerians people.... I literally choked upon seeing members throw banter endlessly like there were frenzied or something....
We can't communicate in civility and decorum In a well respected forum like this?
Well, I've abandoned the thread and account, as I don't think I can login to see spiteful comments littered every where on my thread....
It's really sad Do you know the trouble with you? You came here with your picture expecting to hear what you like to hear. I read through the comments on your other thread and I didn't see any hate. I, personally, only wondered if the thread was necessary, especially, coming from a man. You turned the skirmish into a hate battle. It was evidently not. I don't think any of the supposed haters even called you ugly or had the intention to. |

PointZerom: They were mostly farmers and fishers then, Even today in rural areas, farmers do pay with their farm products. Point of correction, fishermen never paid tithes. Fishes were never counted among items to be tithed Also, Israel were only largely farmers at a time when they still led a nomadic life. As soon as they settled, especially after the institution of monarchy, people ventured into different crafts like carpentry and masonry. Yet in the New Testament, Jesus made it clear in His address to the Pharisees that tithes were still land-based. |
Christianity Etc › Re: "I Just Increased My Tithe To 30 Percent, Satan Go And Die" - Apostle Suleman. by BluntBoy(m): 1:10pm On Dec 02, 2017 |
MikeJosy: Tithe is a commandment and is clearly stated and if any pastor, apostle, bishop or cardinal decides to increase his or her own from the normal 10% to any percentage of choice, no problem. I don't have problem with that. However, people should be mindful of their comments concerning the things of God so that they would not incur the wrath of God.Shanks Tithe was a commandment. It was land-based increase (food) and never income-based. If you changed your tithes to money, you were penalized with an additional 20% which in itself showed that God wanted tithes to be land-based. Every tithe on an increase belonged to God (and God was the inheritance of the Levites). Even Levites today no longer collect tithes because there is no temple. Today, Levites are scattered all over the world working their asses out for their own money. Did your pastors become Levites and did the temple become a church building? Study the Word for yourself, bro. That is the only way you can attain spiritual maturity. |
Christianity Etc › Re: "I Just Increased My Tithe To 30 Percent, Satan Go And Die" - Apostle Suleman. by BluntBoy(m): 1:04pm On Dec 02, 2017 |
PointZerom: You're using Nigerian mentality to interpret the Bible. Tithe is different from alms giving and paying my tithe does not in anyway stop me from giving to the needy. We still have 'Levites (the poor) around us. Please, be careful how you twist the Bible. There were reasons why the tithes in its entirety was instituted. Have you ever bothered to ask yourself why tithing was only land-based (crops and livestock)? |
Christianity Etc › Re: "I Just Increased My Tithe To 30 Percent, Satan Go And Die" - Apostle Suleman. by BluntBoy(m): 12:58pm On Dec 02, 2017 |
DWJOBScom: We don't complain when we make impossible demands from God BUT yet we complain and want to rationalise when it's tithing.
#Istilltithe You and I know that it is the so-called pastors that have rationalised the issue of tithes because of their greed. Your pastors are so desperate that they confuse themselves in their attempt to get your money. The issue of tithing is really simple. While the 11 tribes of Israel could have inheritances of land and livestock, the Levites had God as an inheritance. So every land-based increase (God made land and the increase) belonged to God. Since God was the inheritance of the Levites, everything brought to God belonged to the Levites. It is as simple as that. I can't understand when the collection of tithes became one of the responsibilities of pastors (or shepherds). In the Five Fold Ministry, none of the ministries emphasized or even collected tithes. If your pastors can stop fraudulently using the Bible to support tithing and their greed for your money, good people will stop attacking them. |
Christianity Etc › Re: "I Just Increased My Tithe To 30 Percent, Satan Go And Die" - Apostle Suleman. by BluntBoy(m): 12:45pm On Dec 02, 2017 |
Joshbillionz: But thefact is that the more you attack tithers the more numerous and more committed to tithing they become .... So for all those who are trying to bash tithing i just wonder why you are boThered When those paying tithes are not complaining I don't think anyone is attacking tithers; but we are against these thieves conning people out of their money. The Bible was explicit about tithing but none of you tithe that way. If you all insist on tithing, then you need to tithe the right way as explicitly laid down in the Bible. If you want to pay tithes, these entities must be in existence: 1. A Levitical priesthood (which the eternal Priesthood of Christ has replaced). 2. A temple. The Jews no longer pay tithes because there is presently no temple and so no temple workers to feed on tithes. |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Placed In Group D with Argentina (world Cup 2018) - How Far Can We Go? by BluntBoy(m): 7:04am On Dec 02, 2017 |
People are just shouting that Portugal would have it easy against Iran. We forget that football is becoming increasingly hard to predict. In 2014, it took a late goal from Messi to unlock a resolute Iranian defense. Everyone thought that Argentina would dismantle Iran but it ended 1 - 0.
Who would have ever thought that Denmark would dismantle us in France 98 or that we would dismantle Bulgaria in USA 94?
In South Korea/Japan 2002, everyone thought that Argentina was one of the favorites to win the cup but they didn't even proceed out of the Group Stage. In the same competition, Senegal beat defending champions, France.
In 2014, Ghana almost beat Germany but Klose rescued Germany.
In summary, football is no longer by name. Sometimes, and it is becoming frequent, upsets are being recorded in football. Anyone can make a go at the World Cup. Iceland may have been strong at the Euros but may end up flopping on the bigger stage. This can also happen to Argentina like it happened to them in 2002. |
