PoliticsRe: SCANDALOUS: Outrage In Nigeria As Government Brands National ID Card With Master by BluStreak(m): 10:58am On Aug 30, 2014
My take on this issue is that most of the people criticising this project are either outrightly biased or are uninformed about the project. MasterCard did not brand our National ID because they are the custodians of our data or as a slap on our face, their logo on the card is just to indicate that the financial element of the card is powered by them. If not for the planned financial integration on the ID by the Feds, there wouldn't have been this outlandish cry about MasterCard logo because it wouldn't have been there in the first place. It's just like your ATM card. We have been using ATM in this country before the international processors - Visa & Mastercard - came into the picture. Their inclusion is only to validate us on international transactions. The NIMC has put enough infrastructures in place to manage our database so there is no cause for alarm. We shouldn't right off our decision makers in such a haste because just as we are concerned about our privacy, they too are concerned. They obviously would have brainstormed on this issue before giving it a go.

Having said that, we as a people knowing how corrupt we have become over the years, wouldn't it serve us better having out DB managed by a foreign partner with credibility than leaving it in the hands of unscrupulous, untrustwhorthy elements (in the name of indigenous companies) that will end up selling the details to whoever makes them a good offer just to enrich themselves? Note that I am not implying that our data is with MC. Make una reason am naaaah?

Now these are the kind of animals we don't need to spend a penny of tax payers money on to either feed in jail or prosecute their case in court. They should simply be summarily executed and their body fed to lions in the zoo.

Mercy shouldn't be handed to merciless individuals.

HealthGood News On Ebola - Vaccine Coming Soon by BluStreak(op): 6:24pm On Aug 09, 2014
PARIS (AFP) – Clinical trials of a preventative vaccine for
the Ebola virus made by British pharma company
GlaxoSmithKline may begin next month and made available
by 2015, the World Health Organization said on Saturday.
“We are targeting September for the start of clinical trials,
first in the United States and certainly in African countries,
since that’s where we have the cases,” Jean-Marie Okwo
Bele, the WHO’s head of vaccines and immunisation, told
French radio.
He said he was optimistic about making the vaccine
commercially available. “We think that if we start in
September, we could already have results by the end of the
year.
“And since this is an emergency, we can put emergency
procedures in place … so that we can have a vaccine
available by 2015.”
There is currently no available cure or vaccine for Ebola, a
virus that causes severe fever and, in the worst cases,
unstoppable bleeding.
It has claimed close to 1,000 lives in the latest epidemic to
spread across west Africa this year. Fatality rates can
approach 90 percent, although the latest outbreak has killed
around 55 to 60 percent of those infected.
Several vaccines are being tested, and a treatment made by
San Diego-based Mapp Biopharmaceutical, ZMapp, has
shown promising results on monkeys and may have been
effective in treating two Americans recently infected in
Africa.

Foreign AffairsRe: U.S. Government Claims Exclusive Ownership Over Its "Invention" Of Ebola by BluStreak(m): 6:53pm On Aug 06, 2014
I have never had any iota of doubt ebola is a US weapon that could be used for various purposes. There is a very good reason for the US to use the virus to twist our arms. The global recession hit them so bad that they really need a quick fix. They want what we have after pumping billions of dollars into finding an alternative but so far has failed flat on their face.

This present ebola outbreak is targeted at Nigeria but because there's never been a case of the virus in Nigeria, they had to start off from an ebola region for the conspiracy to be foolproof. Sawyer is a vehicle activated to transport the Virus to Nigeria. What do they want from us? Our oil. They have discovered their latest experiment; the shale oil is not a viable option so they had to activate their plan B so as to have enough oil to run their country. If ya'll will recall, they recently suspended the purchasing or our crude. That decision was made cos they are broke. Forget the media abragadaba, US is broke. The next step now will be to offer us the cure so as to get our crude. Watch as the game plays out. In God We Trust.
HealthRe: Nigerian Female Doctor Dies Of Ebola by BluStreak(m): 4:18pm On Aug 06, 2014
Will it not be right for the federal government to declare Marshal Law in Lagos? That way, they can order commuter buses to carry 3 passengers per row of seat instead of the usual 4 or 5. Mandate BRT buses to carry only seated passengers. Ebola can be transmitted via sweat and we live in a temperate region where sweating is common. Government should put stiff emergency laws against unnecessary public gatherings. A massive/aggressive campaign on the presence of this deadly virus and it's prevention should commence in all regions of the country and not just in Lagos. I have no doubt this will attain an epidemic proportion. The movement of people across the Nigerian states on daily basis cannot be equated. God help us. Is this the beginning of the end?

billy187: Well, I finally took the plunge yesterday, rolled up my sleeves and got dirty. I kind of expected a mesh that transverses the entire vessel, however i just got some transistor thing sticking up in the middle. That, coupled with the fact I never really found pure paint thinner forced me to go to the nearest alternative, rubbing alcohol. The amount i had was hardly worthwhile to fill the industrial size sprayer i had so I had to make ado with Q tips, which admittedly was quite risky. I managed to regain their former gleam 10 minutes and half a packet of Q tips later.

While everything was apart, i took the oppotunity to clean up my throttle body with some carb cleaner i had hanging around.

Results? Well lets see....a cousin of mine who drove my car before the maf clean, drove it afterwards and nearly crashed it when she started it from the base of a steep incline!! She wailed that the car was soo sensitive!! Needless to say, power and response is at its max! will check the fuel economy later though-havent driven long enough. Im sure it will be better though!

Well, Blustreak, saying thanks will not be enough. God bless you sooo much!!
Now this is what I am talking about. God bless you too @billy187. I wish some more peeps will try this and see the amazing outcome. Take back your ride's past glory.
Car TalkRe: Good News For Modern Car Owners by BluStreak(op): 5:59pm On Jul 14, 2014
More findings.......

If I am to judge by the fuel consumption today, I will say I have gained 100% on MPG. Before I did the MAF and Air filter cleaning, a regular trip from my house to Apapa and back consumes N2,000 which is about 21 Litres of fuel. But today, I did notice a great change. I bought N2,000 fuel which moved my gauge to half tank and through out my drive from home to the office at Apapa irrespective of the never ending traffic, the gauge barely moved unlike before. I also notice a quicker acceleration. No more pedal to the metal before I will gain good speed; a slight depression of the pedal is all I need to zoom.

I can now confidently say, I have restored my car to about 95% original power and performance. Don't underestimate the power of MAF sensor and unclogged air filter.

Ps, is paint thinner basically turpentine?
I cannot corroborate if Thinner and Turpentine are one and the same. If you live in Nigeria, just go to timber dealers or auto paint dealers and request you want to buy thinner. For spray gun, you can get that from the timber/plank dealers.

The car consumes fuel and drags, and the check engine light blinks sometimes but it's also on display.
So I should just change the air filter, right?
Apart from changing the air filter, they should clean ur MAF Sensor with thinner and allow to dry before re-installation.

proudly233: So what should I change to make the car move freely when I throttle.
It's a 2010 honda accord.
If the car has lost power, drags, gulps fuel, try the steps as outlined in the original post. You don't need to change anything at the moment except if you have a badly damaged air filter. Just get a replacement filter and install. These are simple things car owners can do without going to the mechanic.
Car TalkRe: Good News For Modern Car Owners by BluStreak(op): 2:22pm On Jul 13, 2014
It will be worthy to add that you should thoroughly clean your air filter also so that impurities will not return to seal the component's sensory abilities. If your air filter is torn or have holes, you will have to replace it to forestall a re-occurrence.

Follow these steps and you will be amazed at the result. Please don't forget to come back and give your testimonies. This will help others to make the move.

proudly233: Is it the same thing as O2 sensor?
I am having this problem, my car drags when I throttle and it doesn't move at the required speed.
No they are not the same. It links your air filter and the channel that takes filtered air into your engine. If you can identify your air filter box, it should be sitting just after the box as you trace from the box up. And it should have a set of wire connected to it via a socket. I will find a sample and upload hoping it will help.
Car TalkGood News For Modern Car Owners by BluStreak(op):
This if from my personal first-hand experience. (sic) No be say person do am come tell me as e be.

Is your car running rich - ie consuming too much fuel?

Have you lost power in comparison to when you just gott your ride?

Does your car drag when you push down your gas pedal?

Herein lie the ultimate solution - The MAF sensor. MAF stands for Mass Air Flow. It is a sensor that regulates the fuel/air ratio in a combustion engine. When it has gathered impurity due to dirty air filter, it seizes to function optimally and the result will be lost power and fuel consumption going up. To regain your ride's power and improved mpg, it's time to roll your sleeves and get a lil'dirty. The MAF sensor most often is located inbetween the air filter box and the air inlet pipe of your car on the engine bay. You will need to get it out and clean.

To do this you will need; an unadulterated paint thinner, an empty spray can, a 10 socket spanner and a screw driver. Follow ur car's own design and remove the MAF sensor. Put some thinner inside the spray can and spray generously on the MAF sensor's inner component. Pls do not use any hard object to scratch inside the MAF as this could damage it. After spraying generously on the inside sensor's component, keep to dry properly before you re-install. When you are done coupling your ride, take it for a spin and come back later to thank me.
Car TalkIs This A Reliable Test For Thermostat Presence by BluStreak(op): 1:49pm On Jul 11, 2014
During my check to ascertain why my car temperature rises way above half - about 3/4 on the temp dial, I found out that, my radiator upper and lower hose get warm at the same time meaning their is flow of water the moment the engine starts running. Does it mean there is no thermostat in the car? Ordinarily, I expected one side to remain cold since the thermostat stands as a barrier to hold back the flow of coolant pending when the car has reached operating temperature.
Car TalkRe: Temperature Rising Steadily Above 2/3 by BluStreak(op): 11:12pm On Jul 07, 2014
I just checked the water level this evening and like I suspected, it dropped. I then re-filled the expansion tank and also the radiator. To confirm if the water pump is still working, I pulled out the return hose from the radiator to the expansion tank when the engine has warmed up and water was coming out from it. Does that confirm the water pump is working?

I want to be sure of what the problem is or at least narrow down to a near cause before I go to the mechanic.
Car TalkTemperature Rising Steadily Above 2/3 by BluStreak(op): 9:48pm On Jul 07, 2014
Please guys, my 07 Accord V6 just started acting funny for no just cause. I first noticed this Monday last week on the Ikorodu road traffic. But as at today, the temperature dial has risen way past the 2/3 mark. I have observed the fans and the 2 are working well and blowing at high speed meaning they are working ok. When I am stationary, the temperature rises steadily to 2/3 and the longer I stay stationary, the higher it climbs. The moment I move and increase speed, the temperature drops.

My 1st suspicion is the Water Pump since the car's fans are electrically powered and not by the crank shaft. There is no leakage on the radiator. The water level drops slightly at the end of the day.

Pls my people what could be the problem? Can a scan detect a water pump failure? Heeeeeeeelllllllp.

Car TalkRe: Driving Your Car Without Using The Horn by BluStreak(m): 4:51pm On Jul 01, 2014
When you drive in a sane clime where vehicle maintenance is a necessity, it won't be so much a difficulty to go days without using your horn. But in a Nigerian society where some pedestrians feel you cannot oppress them because you are driving a car, or where a lot of motorist don't drive with rear looking mirror, side mirrors and turn signal lights, the safest way to stay alive is to notify them with your horn before you overtake. I never miss that. It has been a ritual for me since I saw a Golf GTI in the late 90s set in flight on the Ore/Sagamu axis by a Benin commercial 504 station wagon. Until Nigeria is set right, lots of misnomer will continue to thrive.
Car TalkRe: Driving Your Car Without Using The Horn by BluStreak(m): 11:25am On Jul 01, 2014
abatically: It is absolutely unnecessary to honk ur horn while overtaking, unless maybe a long truck. The sound of horn can be annoying to other drivers and can make them lose control. If I'm driving on my lane jeje and u come behind me and start honking unnecessary just because u want to overtake when u could have easily passed since I'm not blocking u. Because of that ur horn, I will stay in the middle of the road thereby not giving u room, let me see how hard ur horn can go.
My guy, you don't live in Lagos Nigeria, and you don't ply our highways. When you do, come back and reaffirm this your position.
