Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bodejohn(m): 5:19pm On Dec 09, 2012
Uncle George, I salute your courage in pushing the frontiers of renewable energy. I have been a silent visitor to this thread since it was opened some few years back.

I have a plan to buy 2 solar panels very soon as i already have a 1.5kva inverter and 2 150AH batteries connected in series to give 24V. I however have some few questions on solar panels.

From your experience, which of 200watt or 250watt solar panels come with >30Vmp.

Which do you advise, two 250watt panel connected in series or parallel for my 24V battery bank. I know the power from the panels remains the same in both configurations but you mentioned that using a MPPT charge controller with a higher voltage from solar cells have some advantages.

I once had same experience on my way to Canada some years back, I was actually taken aback when I heard the engines roaring back to life after almost touching the runway. It was a KLM flight and I am not sure it was published, it was the pilot that informed us onboard, this type of shit happens, just that our airports are less busy compared to where I experienced it.
Business › Re: Why Do Businesses Fail In Nigeria? by bodejohn(m): 4:54pm On Nov 19, 2012
There are two types of failures that i can think of now,
1. The business failing right in the hands of the promoters or proprietors...this can be linked to all the points that you guys have enumerated above.
2. My major concern is the failure of businesses after the demise of their owners. Businesses in advanced countries are handed down to boards and trustees even before the death of the owners, and decisions are taken most times with the profit of the business at heart, but in Nigeria, you see that family members and children of the owners ruin the company. Many times, rancor between the family ruin the progress of the businesses because the owner will have to divide his properties among many people. And if he/she fails to leave a will the yam pepper will even be more scattered.

The president had a golden opportunity to convince Nigerians that his government is working hard to make life better, but i was unimpressed.
It would even have been better if i hadn't listened to the media chat.

I was particularly disappointed that the president could not accurately give the percentages of the the recurrent and capital elements of the budget.
We still need to do more in this country to keep our elected officers on their feet working, they are till now enjoying only the fanfare attached to their offices.

Early in life, I discovered that it is never going to be possible to have more than enough, but contentment is a virtue that should be sought by all. I once heard a respected elder say to remain where you are you have to keep moving... It's a paradox and it took me some time to understand. While you are contented with what you have, it still does not make one less ambitious, but it makes one look for more in a moral way, note that I did not say godly way.

Why are you all making Ade's red an issue in this game. Were they not leading by a goal before he got his matching order? If the team is good, shouldn't they be able to defend their lead with 10 men? The last time I checked, Adebayor was neither a defender or a midfielder.

Business › Re: Banks Still Charge On Interbank ATM Transactions by bodejohn(m): 3:33pm On Nov 15, 2012
I am of the opinion that this new policy will actually reduce the efficiency of the ATMs if there was any in the first place.
I know of a bank in Ibadan who for many years had a range of atm cards without a single atm machine, the said bank can only boast of a single atm dispensing machine in the whole of Oyo state.
Other banks will spend their money to replenish their atm machines while customers from the bank I sited collect.
If the modalities for this policy is not carefully worked out, we will soon have banks on the same platform of visa or mastercard rejecting other banks card. I am sure some of us can still easily remember that during the early days of GSM, MTN refused to have GLO's call terminate on their network because of some fees that were supposed to be paid to each other.

There were two appointments made by Ajimobi at the inception of his administration which if he did in good faith was worth appraising.
First was Dapo's and the other was a man who had not more than a primary education.
On the two appointments although the later was thrown out by the PDP and LP combination in the house of assembly, I asked myself a question, would Ajimobi still have chosen these two problem if they had no link to politics or godfathers.
I graduated same set with Dapo in secondary school and I must say I have nothing against him as he was sort of well behaved as far as I know during our days back in Government College, Ibadan but I said earlier would the governor had called him to be a commissioner if his father was not the Lam Adriana?

dayokanu: ^^ So If I go and build a shop on the drainage I should expect the govt to compensate me later?

or where is the logic?

Armed robbery is also a means of livelihood of some people, so why is govt killing armed robbers?

The 6yrs of Akala wont be repaired in 6months. The 64m monthly going to Adedibu , Elewe-Omo and co is now being used to develop the state.

Tell us when was the last time you heard NURTW killing people in Ibadan like we were hearing every week during Akala
Do you know that some of what you call illegal shops on drainage were actually allocated to the people by council officials? And they still collect rates and levies on them on montly basis.
The NURTW issue is a keg of gun power it will still explode as long as the government continue to hobnob with those miscreants.
Did you by any chance hear about the fracass at Arisekola Alao's compond during the ileya festival?
It was a fight between pdp and the NURTW team loyal to the state government.
We do not need to wait till the end of elected officials tenure before we begin to tell them when they are not performing up to expectation, it even goes beyond party affiliations.
I am advocate of good governance irrespective of which party is in power or opposition.

funshint: May oyo state never go back to d locust years of Ladoja-Adedibu-Akala PDP led administration; can I hear a resounding Amen!
That you think the current administration is better than the previous does not mean that it is performing optimally.
How can a government demolish shops and means of livelihood of the citizens without providing alternatives? Where does he expect the people to find their daily bread?
Some few months ago I was driving pass the governor's house inside the oluyole estate, a guy was filling potholes on the road with sand and begging users of the road for money, l shook my head as I drove by.
With the clearing done at Iwo road junction, has the potholes that cause the traffic been patched or filled?
On the issue of the NURTW, their current chairman was widely believed to have the been that killed eleweomo, he is just a disaster waiting to happen.
Like I said, we need to raise the bar of administration in our country to excellent levels and stop mediocre comparisons.

Josh090: Dude, you don't know what you talking about, am not campaigning for Ajimobi but what he's doing and has done in his short time in office is enough of a legacy to last for generations. The second fly over in the state since the one @ molete has being completed over 40 years ago is almost completed in mokola roundabt and soon thereafter will embark on a third on in challenge road.
The sanitation program has been more than effective, we now have clean roadsides and streets. Some guys just talk base on stereotypes they have heard which for most parts are not true. Even sabo which was notoriously filthy is now clean, all those dirt in the median of the roads are regularly picked up.
Anyway, I can only say the man his really putting some serious projects down unlike Akala and his fake taxi cars, so guys be informed, ibadan and oyo state is not the old(still has its old areas) dirty and rusty state you people make it to be.
Ok, good the city is cleaner and that makes the state more economically viable?
What of the many shops that was demolished in Ring road, Challenge and other places?
What has the government done to avert flooding that visits the state.
It is not only about comparing this govt. with the past governments, we need to see the evidence of govt. at work not mere propaganda.

You mean the landscaping going on the road?
How many jobs will that provide? It was even washed away by rain after it was first made.
The combination of Alaafin, Olubadan and Arisekola that backed him to power will eventually ruin his administration.

Gov. Ajimobi sacks 3 commissioners from his cabinet. Could this be a fall out of last week's rumoured arrest of his wife in the United Kingdom?
There was a minor shake-up in Oyo State Monday as Governor Abiola Ajimobi sacked three of his commissioners.

While speaking with newsmen after the state executive council meeting Monday, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Akin Olajide gave the names of the sacked commissioner as Alhaji Yunus Akintunde (Works and Transport); Mr. Bosun Oladele, Information and Orientation and Mr. Kazeem Adedeji who was in charge of the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Cooperatives.

Also, the name of a current Special Adviser to the governor on Education and former governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in the state, Taiwo Otegbeye has been sent to the State House of Assembly for confirmation as a Commissioner.

Six other commissioners swapped positions.

According to him, the former Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Bimbo Kolade has been moved to the Ministry of Lands, while the erstwhile Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Ajiboye Omodewu, will now take over the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Mr. Peter Odetomi, formerly of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs is now Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, while Mr. Lowo Obisesan, formerly of the Ministry of Establishment and Training, will now swap the ministry with his Environment counterpart, Mr. Wasiu Dauda.

The reshuffle also saw the erstwhile Commissioner for Applied Science and Technology, Mr. Adegbenro taking charge of the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Cooperatives, while the name of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Pastor Taiwo Otegbeye has been forwarded to the state House of Assembly for confirmation as a commissioner.

In the cabinet reshuffle, Tokunbo Fayokun,(Education) Dapo Adesina, (Sports and Youth Development), Nurudeen Olarinde(Economic, Budget and Planning), Bimbo Owolabi(Water Resources, and Zacheaus Adelabu(Finance) retained their positions.

Also retained were Kafayat Adeojo (Urban and Physical Planning), Mutalab Ojo Adebayo (Justice), Tinuke Osunkoya (Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation) and Muyiwa Gadegesin (Health).

The SSG explained that the cabinet reshuffle was aimed at enhancing more effectiveness and efficiency in line with the restoration, transformation and repositioning agenda of the Ajimobi administration.

“They (those who were dropped) have not committed any offence. It is just to increase the tempo of governance in some key areas, so as to achieve the agenda we have set for ourselves within the time available,’’ he explained.

While FFK is entitied to his opinion, i am very suprised this is the way our supposed leaders think. If he was so convinced about this beer parlour talk that he could pen them down, i am very disappointed.
I will not comment about Obama's link to the antichrist because it is not only ridiculous, it cannot be substanciated by FFK himself.
I like to remind FFK that the decision of some people 5 or 7 decades ago to fight for black rights sounded same as fighting for gay rights and abortion.
America prides itself as a land of equal opprtunity for all, that is why a black obama with a name that sounds like osama can be elected t o be her president.
These same rights that obama fights for is what FFK himself enjoys when he travels to US to enjoy some of his loot.
Politics › Re: Jonathan Has No Credible Opposition For 2015 by bodejohn(m): 3:29pm On Nov 04, 2012
Lack of credible candidates is as much the fault of political parties and that of Nigerians.
The process of electing or selecting canditates in the parties are seriously flawed with only the money bags and annoited godsons clinching party tickets.
Nigerians have also not been wise enough to understand that a flawed process will not produce a good result.
It continues to amaze me that majority of Nigerians sit at home during elections without voting only to pray to God for good leaders forgetting that good leaders are not angels dropped from heaven, they are elected my people.

This should not be strange news to people who are close to the company.
The problem with the company started a long time ago and it must have taken a lot of ingenuity to keep it afloat till now.
This is a company that has not been paying salaries regularly as far back as 1999.
The mismanagement of the company by the owners and disloyalty on the part of the staffs jointly responsible for the downward trend in the company.
