Billyonaire: Is it constitutionally wrong ? Is she qualified to be permanent secretary. I avoid to react emotionally on this, if the constitution is silent on this or does not kick against it, then I think its okay by me.Even GEJ thinks the constitution needs review. |
...the news headlines has been kind of dull in the past few days. She has worked assiduously in the last 13years in the ministry of First Lady, Her promotion was long overdue and well deserved! What a lively way to light up our weekend. |
amosy007: u knw what ur problem is? U believe anytin they tell u without comfirming wether its genuie or not.. On what basis are u comparing ghana to nigeria? Ghana generate only 3000mw of electrity as at last year and its enough for them becoz its a small country with small population.. Nigeria is generating about 4500mw at the moment.. Do u expect nigeria with population of over 150million to consume the same ammount of electricity ghana with 25million people comsumeWhile you are right with your assertions on the population and load demand of Ghana, you should also take into consideration that we, Nigerians, are responsible for our present predicament by not been proactive enough to forecast what load demand we will need. Note that I am not blaming any particular government or person but all the governments from the local government to the federal government from the time Nigeria became independent. Having said that, it is only sensational to say that the power issues will be fixed in one month. It cannot even be done in a year not even in two years. We need to understand that availability of power in our homes is not only about generation but also transmission and distribution. For example I live in a community with more than 250 buildings without a single transformer but has to go as much at 2 to 3km to take power from the nearest transformer, sometimes when there is power, I get only 50Volts as my mains supply. Generating 30,000MW of power will not change my situation until i get a transformer to be within 100 or 200Meters of my house. This is why the problems that we have now is as a result of the action or inaction of the governments past and every wrong decision made by this current government will be like a seed that will germinate and hunt us in the future to come. |
owobokiri: @op,...this got me really LOL. |
Nigeria and Nigerians will remain in this state of insecurity and economic hardship until we merge the pro and anti groups that exists at every level. The job of restoring Nigeria to its lost glory is not what can be achieved if we remain divided and blinded by short time gains and tribalism. It is a known fact that the solution to violence is Justice, a greater percentage of the violence and reprisal attacks that we have witnessed wouldn't have happened if the judiciary is allowed to discipline culprits of crimes as at went due. That these crimes still occur is a clear indication that our law enforcement agencies are not on top of the situation as they will always want us to belief! |
...even though I careless for his person and the position he holds, it is still outrageous that a human being will wish death for a fellow human being. If you carefully look around I am sure there are people who you have hurt very badly, suppose they had also wished you were dead...GEJ may not be the president we want, but if we fight, no be like make one person drop dead o. |
...what will Nigerians not worry about? We still worry about our bodies when we are dead and gone. How many of us will still have our bodies intact when death come calling. I careless about what becomes of my body when I am gone. The most important is to leave my footprints on the sands of time and my good legacies lingering on when my dead body is buried or cremated. We need to start thinking of how to make life easier for the generation unborn. Cremation does nothing to the memories of the dead! |
...this is why I wrote in a previous thread that it was wrong for GEJ to have said on a national tv that not travelling to Brazil would have meant that BH has grounded government activities. The foreign countries will eventually find out, he only confirmed their fears by saying it. Before you hang me, I am not blaming GEJ for this cancellation and I did not say that he was right or wrong to have travelled to Brazil. What I fault is his statement. Arsenal sef no dey stop to fall person hand. I was just calculating how to draw 20K for my salary to go watch the match. |
This is really getting messy, I think the allegation and counter allegations by the ruling and opposition parties that there are paid agents on social media networks is no longer in doubt. Of what benefit to Nigerians is this lousy revelation. How will this stop BH from striking again today or tomorrow? Even if GEJ was trying to concentrate, stories like this distractions. This is my message to both the ruling and opposition parties...keep your roforofo fights to yourself, we need good governance. Is this too much to demand from our elected officers? |
...every new thread, few sensible responses and the tribal bashing/insults starts. Will you guys ever get tired? I have grown to like the raw skills in Balo, but he really needs to work on his attitude, it was a great surprise for me that he didn't pick a card during the final. He will be worth more than that when he is able to control his emotions on and off the field of play. |
Caracta: Good development. Hope it won't result into another abandoned project. Ortis: Agbaya!!!! Na today i begin see or hear of multi million naira project....i guex dy suld revive d dead textile nd power companies b4....twistin our brain towards buildin another oneGuys, Procter & Gamble is a private and multinational company, there is nothing like abandoning the project. If you care to know, the project is no longer a plan, the contract has been awarded to Julius Berger and recruitment of staffs has already begun. |
...politrickcians...two sides of the same coin! |
Logic does not apply to the decisions taken by GEJ and his cabinet since he assumed office a couple of months back. Once BH warned him not to celebrate the annual independence day at the Eagle square and he promptly relocated to a corner in Aso Rock. Was governance not abandoned because of the BH threats then? Since he travelled to Rio to pretend to world leaders that the menace of BH was under control why did he have to come to national tv monitored from all over the world to say the real reasons he travelled. Would the world leaders not now know the true state on the Nigerian state? We were forced to pay higher tariffs for power that we do not have in anticipation of foreign investors, how long will it take the foreign investors to arrive? What will happen to all we have paid if eventually the investors fail to come? Perhaps the one thing that GEJ has done to make me happy over the past two years is the new tax regime. It reduced my monthly tax by close to 50%. Not that I am really happy to give the government less tax, but what benefit have I received paying the huge monthly tax? Since the government was mis managing the tax, why won't I be happy when my hard earned money is not wasted by government's profligacy, Finally, a man who is afraid of been wet has no business by the river bank. The easiest way for GEJ to avoid criticisms whether constructive or destructive is to either leave governance for those who are better prepared and thick skinned or bury his head into providing good governamce for all Nigerians. |
Yeah, this is serious and highly confidential, it should be in the trash bin of the joke's section. Mchseeew! |
The sacking of the NSA and minister of Defence is just another diversionary act from the federal government. We were asking our president what he went to Brazil to do and he just comes up with this. For all Mr Presidents conspiracy theorists, you have uptill now blamed the spate of bombings on the person and party of Buhari, but when your master was advised to bring in Buhari for questioning you think the move was going to increase violence. How do you want your master to curb the rising insecurity levels which you firmly belief is been fueled the Buhari? |
I need someone to correct my ignorance here please, is the Nigerian police and SSS under the ministry of defence? |
@ All, The new tax regime approved and gazetted by the federal government in March, 2012 was backdated to take effect in June, 2011. This new tax regime became effective in my own office this month and it was all smiles as the burden of tax was reduced by close to 25% for employees. But also i saw that a lot of my colleagues were also ignorant of what the tax laws were and what it has now become. Almost everybody got refunds for the period of Jan to May 2012 with a promise to get further refunds for the last 6months of the past year. I am starting this thread for two reasons, 1. To enlighten Nigerians on what the tax laws say 2. To console the many that will begin to see the effects of the new tax laws. This is because most companies especially banks have deviced ways of making their employees pay less tax by making their basic salaries very small with diverse benefits to increase total pay. Let me have your comments and questions, as i have some bit of knowledge of both tax regimes. |
Sometimes ago, the BH boys warned our president not to celebrate our national independence day at the Eagle square and he promptly stayed within the confines of the Aso Villa, when he was told how cowardly he behaved, his foot soldiers feed us with the story of how he was wise to have prevented loss of lives by going awol on the celebration of the nation's independence. Didn't BH win at that time to keep him from the business of governance? On this issue of governing from anywhere, I need to remind Maku and others like him of what eventually happened to the one that tried to and what became of the one that advised him to. Even typing the letters G E J makes my internet slow...oh gosh! |
You people do not know that every opportunity to bring investors to this country must be exploited. Do you know the number of foreign governments and investors that the president and his entourage will meet free of charge. Have you all forgotten that OBJ's junkets around the world during his 8years was responsible for the massive industrialisation of the country and the uninterrupted power supply that we now enjoy? Let us show understanding and patriotism with the developmental programs of the FG. |
torkaka: how i wish that news would have been present nigerian president and not former egyptian president! My friend, death is the last thing you should be wishing a fellow human. Even though I am not a fan of his, didn't vote for him and never will, I think it is too much to wish him death. He is better alive so he can finish the task he forcefully gave himself. |
I laugh when someone or anyone asks me what GEJ should be doing to tackle insecurity and the nose diving economy. This shows how indefensible the GEJ leadership is. Before I can answer this question or offer advise, he(GEJ) should immediately drop his 1billion food budget, transfer all his military and intelligence chiefs, resign and go back to his fishing business in Otuke. How I wish someone will wake him up and tell him that he is the president of Nigeria. He savours the prestige, honour, wealth and power that comes with his office only to dodge the responsibilities and blame someone else. So he thought no one will try to sabotage his government when we was campaigning for votes and seeking election, a yoruba adage says, erosion will always want to pull the house down but the landlord must be prepared to prevent it. GEJ, with more power comes greater responsibility! |
...very soon, I mean very soon everybody including those supporting the recklessness and incompetence of this administration will join hands to demand answers from the government. It is becoming obvious that the country is gradually sinking into anarchy with the reprisal attacks after the bombings on sunday. It is a know fact that violence regenerates in the absence of justice. |
It will be difficult if not impossible for a common citizen to be able to answer this type of question. The way the president will act or react will largely depend on how he got to the post and the amount of intelligence that is within his reach. I will not be surprised if a president from the northern part of Nigeria decides to open another amnesty book for those criminals. This question is not for a bloody civilian to answer. |
...or the BA plane was badly maintained too? |
bboiabb: we are not supporting mediocrity. We are supporting Nigeria! Abi just because they are not playing like Spain we will turn out backs on them. I agree that we need to improve drastically but I will still support them because Nigeria is my home .Ok, I get you now, more like saying we support the Nigerian men's senior national team but not the super eagles. |
The issue here is not only for government to enlighten the people, it is about the sincerity of their actions and plans. I believe that more than 80% of what is needed to make Nigeria great is already written down in a report or journal, our albatross is in the implementation. It is true that machines required for power generation are not what can be picked off the shelve but the fact that GE is involved does not mean that our political class is serious. For example, what came out of the national ID scheme that Siemens was involved or the Halibuton scam? The federal government of Nigeria right now is bedevilled by corruption and until there is a concious effort to bring corruption to its kness all the lofty ideas been talked about will remain nursery rhymes. |
...Supporting mediocrity is not patriotism, it is foolishness! The team needs to improve. |
One point bothers me about these plane crashes that I have struggled to find an answer to. How come the pilots and crew are not aware that the machines they fly in are coffins. It is unbelievable that a pilot will not have a friend in the maintenance unit that will be generous enough to inform him of the deplorable status of the aircraft. Or shall we say that the mismanagement of the airlines is a collaboration between the management, mechanical crew and the pilots? If I were a pilot, I will surely keep my ears to the ground to know the state of the planes I fly and run for my dear life whenever I notice that management is about to begin cutting corners and more importantly informing the public. I have also wondered if the owners of the airlines fly in them. If they do and they are still comfortable to poorly maintain they planes then...it is finished. |
It is very difficult to understand the country called Nigeria. Didn't we put a whopping 25% of our budget this year on security and yet everybody should only drive in the old volkswagen beetle so has not to be seen showing off and for the fear of been kidnapped. |
...this got me laughing...can the mods move this to the jokes section? |
...right on point but the real issue is if we all seem to know the issues in Nigeria, why haven't we found a solution. How did we manage to have 779 LG chairman, 36 state Govs, 108 senators, 360 house reps, hundreds of state legislators and not to mention commissioners, ministers, advisers and special advisers, senior special advisers and there's been no solution. |
...what exactly might Vee Pee Sambo be looking at with so much concentration? |
