Hi... Have you tried using your spouse as the principal applicant? If not, I think you should.

You can get into the pool at anytime, regardless of your score as long as you meet the requirements.

Manitoba is a good option and they do not require you write the professional exam before applying. Also, you need to have an EE profile before you can apply. Having a close relative in that province would help a great deal.

I would advice you get into the pool and try the provinces accepting aplications... It usually takes a while based on experiences onhere, but usually worth the wait.

Hope this helps... All the best!

Thetherapist:
Good day to all gurus in the house. I planned creating a profile in the Express entry . so I decided to use the CRS calculator to get my likely score but its just too low. Age and not having a masters degree made it drop drastically so I taught of the provincial nominee but myself and my spouse belongs to a profession that requires a license to practice which most Canadian province requires of us. We taught of starting the whole process of licensing but would still have to be present in Canada to write the exam.
My question is this:
We checked through Manitoba provincial nominee programme and saw we could qualify for oversea skilled worker category if nominated by a friend or close relative.
Has anybody applied through this route? How long does it take on the average? Read somewhere on their site that we can't apply for EE until we get nominated. Any better explanation on why?
Is there any nairaland member in Manitoba or who got nominated by Manitoba? Please quote me or send a PM, I have loads of questions begging for answers.
Thanks

Your fiancee would be in a better position to earn more points cos of her ACCA which is usually evaluated as a separate degree... With that, you can select the '2 or more degrees' option.

But then, are you applying as a couple? You said fiancee...

pressplay411:
good morning all. I was referred here to learn about the permanent residency and I'm impressed at the level of information.

while I'm reading through from begining, I'll like to ask a question

I'm a degree holder with ICAN and CISA while my fiancee has ACCA and Oracle certified, I'd like to know if any of these qualify us to tick masters/professional certifacation

please advise

StS already sent you a useful link, but I believe people in that category that began with info from this thread should share their experiences with us, as we that got PTA were advised to do, instead of creating a different thread.

All info can be shared here and everyone can benefit from it. It would be nice for you to share the timeline from start till PPR of your friend as well... it could help someone.

Thetherapist:
Can we please have a thread for landing experience. Like what to expect at the airport, immigration rules to follow, how to carry cash along, housing and all settlement plans. Those who got the PR and just landing could always come in and share their experience for prospective members to learn from.
Why am I saying this? A friend would be moving to Canada with her family next month. She has load of questions begging for answers. Going with a virgin passport, no relative in Canada, its all her first time leaving the country. I believe a thread like that would help to know what to expect while landing and the whole settlement process.
Thanks

Congrats on your ITA and well done for reading up info and answering your own questions!

Like 40manlappy said, the LOE would suffice. All your husband needs to do is send the money to your account and you write an LOE.

All the best!

oohunt:
For the benefit of others who may come to ask the same questions I did. I found the answer to my first question about proof of funds. My husband would have to transfer the lump sum at once to my account as a gift of deed, and he will have to write a letter of explanation (LOE).

What I do not know is if LOE is the same thing as a gift of deed? Gurus please clarify if the letter will state that the money is a gift deed to support the family and etc and is that all?

See this link and post from dupyshoo, it explains it well: https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/192#49796398
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 7:37am On Feb 02, 2017
Hi... Congrats on your ITA.

1. If you can get your Supervisor to write the letter on your behalf, that would be great. All you have to do, like my wife did, is to write the letter yourself, print it out on the letter headed paper and have him sign it. If that's too much of a problem or you don't have access to letter headed papers, have your HR dept write the letter and leave a space for your supervisor to sign. I have a sample I found online... could share with the house if necessary.

2. The mutual funds company can write a letter for you... That should suffice. Let them also explain the money can be liquidated at anytime of your choice. Dunno much about FirstBank, but your bank statement should be fine in addition to the mutual funds letter. If you can get them to also write the letter, you can add it.

Hope this helps... All the best!

teeoba:
Hello All,
stumbled onto this page and it has been extremely helpful. I have just gotten ITA and i had a few clarifications which I hope the house can help with:

1. For the work reference
- is it okay if it is HR department that provides the reference letter and signs it?
- or can I get one from HR plus a letter from my supervisor . The issue is that the supervisor does not have emolument details and can not use company letter-head paper.

2. For Proof of funds
- do i have to liquidate my mutual fund investment and put it in my account or can the mutual fund company write a letter for me?
- Has anyone done this with stanbic assest management and what was the process?
- Has anyone been able to get a letter from First Bank fitting CIC's requirements, and if so what was the process?

Thank you and God bless you all for the great work on this thread.

You will need a better IELTS score for a much higher score. A masters' degree would help too.

yungmin:
House pls...o, how is this CRS calculated?
IELTS : speak-7.5; R-7; L-7; wr-7 (overall 7).
Age - 32
Degree - in engineering
Work experience - over 5yrs.
Why is my score coming out so low? Pls epp me understand

Awesome. Thanks!

dupyshoo:
Mine showed all past work experiences that I did not claim point for. I was not penalised for not putting them under work experience. I however put them under personal history.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by boldinc(m): 10:46am On Jan 31, 2017
Yes you can apply for one online and get it delivered... http://www.idlservice.com/

But you have to note that when applying, you will be asked for details of your 'original' license (number, country of issue, expiry date, etc).

What you get is not an official US driver's license, but an acceptable copy and interpretation of your existing national driver's license.

mumzt:
Contrary to what pple are saying. You can actually apply for international drivers license online n ud get it in d post within a week. Tried and tested!

I think @firstymum used it too if I'm not mixing it up
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 10:41am On Jan 31, 2017
I totally understand you... What I meant was that I would be uploading data page of Canadian passport instead of PR card that Fusion uploaded.

I would also be adding utility bills and birth certificate.

Quick question tho... Linked in profile shows all past working experiences, but we claiming only one in eAPR cos of stress of getting reference letters tho all the info are in personal history... Could this pose a problem? @Fusion23... Did you claim experience from all the places you worked?

dupyshoo:
Passport data page will not serve the purpose of birth certificate. The essence of birth certificate is to confirm that you have the same birth parents. For instance, if you are claiming a sibling in Canada, your birth certificate and that of the sibling will be required. However, if you are claiming an Uncle in Canada, you will have to submit your birth certificate, your uncle's birth certificate and either your mum's or dad's birth certificate, depending on which of them is the Uncle sibling. They will want to see that that the person named as father or mother in your birth certificate is related to your Uncle.

I hope you understand my explanation sha.

Renting a car is pretty straight forward as long as you have your authentic Nigerian drivers license. Booking online is usually better (cheaper too) and a prerequisite at most agencies. They might require another form of ID in addition. It's advisable you opt in for insurance cover, just in case anything happens to the car... Also make sure the payment card has your name on it.

You can try Budget.com or Avis... You can choose a pick up and drop off location closest to you or an airport you would be arriving.

PS: Make sure you fill up the tank before return, cos they charge you higher to fill up at their centers.

Hope this helps!

Posh404:
Thanks. I have the new one. Can the international one be gotten here in Atlanta?......and Pls any info on how to rent a car will be appreciated
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 8:58am On Jan 31, 2017
Ok. thanks. I'm planning to use passport data page.

But like you said, no points really, but I think that help make the VO believe settling would be quicker for the applicant.

Fusion23:
both our birth certificate merged together

den the front and back of his pr card

anyways actually no points for family relatives..it just helps sometimes
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 8:56am On Jan 31, 2017
Reference letters alone would suffice, but if you can get payslips, you can attach those as well.

blaizetony:
Hello house, please those that got PR through express entry, were you asked for work account statements or payslips? or was it just reference letters that is required.

secondly, what happens to those that were paid by cash?.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 7:38am On Jan 31, 2017
Interesting... What docs did you provide for your relative in Cananda? As the VO says it wasn't sufficient as proof.

Congrats again!

Fusion23:
Just a little hint dont knwo if this will help , after i got my passport request just after one month i was scared because it was to early .
After I sent my passport a week later i ordered the GGMS notes : Luckily I already got my visa,
The GGMS notes are out about 189 pdf pages with so many repitions:

The process moved fast from accra office to London office

so may be luckily schooling in London helped, cos it was london that gave the final approval

without giving so much away just an hint

summary make sure ur story makes sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt even get points for having a relative.
Also even with the express entry rate of 1200
the still convert to the fsw which is over 100

I still haven't found anywhere on the CIC website stating that medicals won't be needed upfront from tomorrow. Info on there is only for spouse or family sponsorship...

vcole:
This is under the sponsorship program for spouses, partners and dependants. There is so much info updated on the cic site that it could get confusing a lot of times. We have to carefully cross check the category of persons and class of program the new rules apply to. Click on upfront medical exam here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 3:56pm On Jan 30, 2017
This is a bit contradictory, cos I still spoke to them last week and they were willing to give me an appointment, but I opted for Qlife... Which I haven't gone for still tho.

temitope06:
i called Children's practice and consultants now and they said upfront medicals has been stopped since December last year. they said the process now is that you submit your application without medicals, then cic will send medical forms to you later and then you can take that with you to the hospital. Pls anyone else can confirm this, hope i didn't misinterpret what i heard.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 12:14pm On Jan 30, 2017
Any of the options work as long as:

1. The accounts are in the name of the principal applicant (PA)
2. You have documents to show evidence of sale of properties
3. You can prove the source of the large funds transferred to your account.

There is a separate section to upload LOE, so you can have one letter explaining the whole situation and upload it. However, the proof of sale(s) (receipts and all) and bank statements should be uploaded in the POF section.

Hope this helps... All the best!

Usiomon:
Can somebody please answer me, first time asking and no response yet shocked grin

Have you heard about same info?

Hey... Was this on the CIC website? I believe they would have sent messages to everyone. Can't find it on the website either.

Adiahabasi:
Bumped into this. Still trying to decipher what this means. Says if submitting application after 31st of January, upfront medicals not to be done..till requested for .............seems one can no longer copy and paste a web link here.

Thanks... But this section only gives the option of brother or sister. No 'step'...

Fusion23:
Fantastic .. the kind of relative is specified ..good news step brothers or sister is part of the list..i dont think one can use nephewss or niece or cousins

Thanks Fusion23... I believe I can get both certificates, though It's same father, but different mothers. I believe that shouldn't be an issue...

Fusion23:
They wont be contacted when you claim a relative in canada..you upload two addition files ..
first is proof of relationship..you can merge both your birth certificate showing same Parent Name

then proof of status the persons pr card or passport bio data

Need help with this as well!

temitope06:
Pls o, i need comprehensive details on Gift Deed. What is required, do i still need to provide 6 months account statement. Family member is giving me the required funds, my own account no get anything. All i need to know about it. Or if there is a particular page on this thread that has all the answers. Thanks in advance.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 8:04pm On Jan 27, 2017
To dd to what dupyshoo said, each child would $150 CAD each in addition to your $490 and $550...

dupyshoo:
1. 490 is Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF), while 550 is the application fee. RPRF is refundable if application is refused as it is the cost for COPR and PR card.

2. You need proofs to show that the cooperative money is yours. If you can provide the terms and agreement of the cooperative and proofs that the money was taken from you account in the first place, you should be alright.

3. Nope. However, if the funds are in your account for 6 months, there won't be need to show any proofs or write LOE.

4. Actually, 6 months bank statements is not what IRCC requires, it is a letter from your bank that gives the following info: account opening date, type of account, current balance and average balance for the past 6 months. People get bank statements as a work-around when their banks refuse to give them a letter in the required format. To answer your question, if you are submitting bank statements, yes, you will still have to submit 6 months bank statements.

5. I think FD and Tbills are acceptable. This does not mean you won't still provide your bank statements sha.

6. 90 days

I do not think your maternity leave would be deducted as well... You were paid during that period, so it counts as work still...

Besides, it won't be state anywhere in your reference letter that you were on maternity leave twice... Go for it gurl!

SlowlybtSurely:
I'm beginning to think so too. Will go with ref letter and employment letter.

Some one thinks my maternity leave period will be deducted from my work experience and that would mean i will fall short of the 3 years bench mark. I went on mat leave twice (3 months each) within the 3 years 4 months WE period. Wondering if i should include my housejob experience to make up for it.

What do you think?
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 7:59pm On Jan 27, 2017
Yesso! Needed to be certain. My wife's sister is in the process of renewing her Canadian passport, so that's a bit of a delay. Expires in June tho, so there's the worry of an issue coming up if the process is still on by then. Also, maybe Fusion23 having a close relative there, helped speed up the process (who knows?), so I might wanna try take advantage of it and not delete as I have been considering.

eAPR is going well o. Still haven't done medicals... Out of town, but should be back soon.

Thanks dear... You PPR cometh soon! Amen!!!

vcole:
I was just waiting for you to ask oh since i read the post knowing you had concerns about this. How's eAPR going?
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 7:55pm On Jan 27, 2017
I think there's a chance that the less documents you upload, the less work you give the VO... For example, If you present job is over 3 years old, I would advice you get reference letter for that alone (that is what i'm doing despite the fact that there have been 3 other companies in the past). This way, a check has to be done on only one company and not 3 nor 4... Saves time!

That may also be the case for unnecessary excess documents as proof, e.g. reference letter alone would suffice as proof of employment. Payslips and the likes might also need some checks, maybe cross checks with bank account, which might require contacting the bank, etc.

In summary, like I am tryna do, upload only the docs you need to. Avoid excess where not necessary.

My opinion tho...

vcole:
Fusion23, make you sha tell us if your work reference get secret code na.
I think he is one of the lucky ones to get a visa officer process his app really really fast though. So many other applicants submit appropriate work references. Personally, i submitted three work references all written to provide the details ircc requested as my previous (and current) employers were very much willing to do so. I am also a compulsive records keeper, so I have all my payslips from previous jobs, etc etc.
Travel history too sef plenty for me and my spouse and child.
This is also the case for a lot of other applicants. So, like someone said on the cv forum, 6 months is the average processing time and anything earlier or longer is the exception and not the norm.

All this one na to console myself oh. The waiting game ain't easy. I wish say my own copr too don land make i join fusion23 for the exception club jare. Lol! grin

Yea... You can decline if you feel you are not ready. Doing this will take you back into the pool until another draw that qualifies you for ITA.

TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 7:29am On Jan 27, 2017
I'm not sure of the type of qualifications gotten in the Navy, but you might be able to make enquiries with Wes.org to see if it can be evaluated. Otherwise, just stick to the 20 points extra from ielts. That's what I did. I was. I'm not the PA. I only added 20 points to my our total score which helped immensely in getting ITA.

Another advice as people have been giving lately is to apply as single and then get married after submitting your application post ITA.

Hope this helps. All the best!

Amakyzuu:
ok noted and thanks so much... were you the dependent or the PA? How can i calculate the possible score adding him as my husband? Do you think he needs to do any evaluations for the certifications he has had in the navy over the years? he will write IELTS too.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 8:40am On Jan 26, 2017
Not sure when you pof would be ready, but just in case, you have 3 months post ITA to submit your application.

Will this suffice for putting your pof together? If so, you can get in the pool now...

All the best!

yungmin:
My regards to everyone who have been contributing selflessly on this tread. Pls I have a short question . I just saw my ielts score (7,7,7,7.5 overall-7). I already completed ECA with ICAS. My only problem now is the POF. I'm currently building up the fund but then, is it advisable for me to fill the EE form now? What if I'm lucky and my POF not ready, what happens?

Your kind responds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all, you guys are wonderful.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by boldinc(m): 8:37am On Jan 26, 2017
@Amakyzuu...

I kinda disagree with your advice. In my case, I didn't get my ECA done hence got not points for education, but wrote the ielts and got the maximum 20 points required.

I would advice he writes the ielts exams and aim for a high score.

Why not just try using the crs tool to calculate the possible score adding him as your husband.

All the best!

Gymme:
1. It is advisable to change marital status (get married) AFTER submitting your PR application then include your spouse in the application afterwards. No degree/no certificate of trade will put your scores down.

2. It is possible to bring a spouse here but the processing time is longer. The type of application is called Family Sponsorship.
