PoliticsBREAKING: Buhari Returns To Abuja, Says ‘i’m Disappointed’ by boman2014(op): 11:28am On Feb 16, 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his disappointment with the postponement of elections and has decided to return to Abuja from his home town, Daura, where he had gone to vote.

He said he made everything available to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in order to ensure smooth elections.

“INEC themselves have given assurances, day after day and almost hour after hour that they are in complete readiness for the elections. We and all our citizens believed them,” he said in a statement released on Saturday morning and shared with TheCable.

He called on Nigeria to refrain from “all civil disorder and remain peaceful, patriotic and united to ensure that no force or conspiracy derail our democratic development”.

THE FULL STATEMENT

I am deeply disappointed that despite the long notice given and our preparations both locally and internationally, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the Presidential and National Assembly elections within hours of its commencement.

Many Nigerians have traveled to various locations to exercise their right to vote, and international observers are gathered. INEC themselves have given assurances, day after day and almost hour after hour that they are in complete readiness for the elections. We and all our citizens believed them.

This administration has ensured that we do not interfere in any way with the work of INEC except to ensure that all funds were released to the commission.

We now urge INEC to ensure not only that materials already distributed are safe and do not get into wrong hands, but that everything is done to avoid the lapses that resulted in this unfortunate postponement, and ensure a free and fair election on the rescheduled dates.

While I reaffirm my strong commitment to the independence, neutrality of the electoral umpire and the sanctity of the electoral process and ballot, I urge all political stakeholders and Nigerians to continue to rally round INEC at this trying national moment in our democratic journey.

I, therefore, appeal to all Nigerians to refrain from all civil disorder and remain peaceful, patriotic and united to ensure that no force or conspiracy derail our democratic development. I have decided to move back to Abuja to ensure that the 14.00 hrs meeting called by INEC with all stakeholders is successful.

CelebritiesJesus Christ Also Did Plastic Surgery - Curvy Actress, Nana Frema Claims by boman2014(op): 5:36pm On Feb 14, 2019
Ghanaian songstress and actress, Nana Frema Koranteng claims Jesus Christ was one of the first people to perform a “plastic surgery” during his
time on earth.

She made this known in reaction to a statement by
a former highlife artiste turned Evangelist, Papa Shee.

Papa Shee believes people who go in for plastic surgery have committed a grievous sin and will end up in hell, and has therefore advised Ghanaians, particularly women, to desist from such practice.

Reacting to the statememt, Nana Frema who once
publicly admitted to have undergone surgery to gain
a curvy shape, kicked against the evangelist’s warning.

In an interview with Kwame Adjetia on Neat FM’s
Entertainment Ghana show, Mana Frema stated that
Jesus Christ was the first person to perform plastic
surgery done on a human being.

Quoting the scripture from Luke 22:51, Frema said:
“Jesus Christ did a plastic surgery. Somebody’s ears were cut off and he fixed it. It was surgery. God is the one who has given doctors the knowledge”.

PoliticsBreaking: Your Sins, Haunting You, APC Replies OBJ by boman2014(op): 12:59am On Jan 21, 2019
ABUJA – The All Progressives Congress APC has taken a
swipe at ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo over his stinging
remarks on the administration if President Muhammadu
Buhari particularly as it relates to the forthcoming general
elections.

This was as the party said it would be demeaning for its
presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari to
engage his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party
PDP, Atiku Abubakar and others in a debate on the same
stage.

While the ruling party said Mr Obasanjo was being haunted
by his own past, it added it does not have any reason to
rig, asking the former president to adjust himself to current
realities, because “after February 16th, Obasanjo will
realize that he is not a god.”

Addressing a press conference Sunday evening in Abuja,
APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-
Onilu, said during Chief Obasanjo’s regime, government
policies were determined by whatever mood he (OBJ)
found himself and all decisions of government were
subjected to his whims.

How Obasanjo’s Evidence Against Atiku Will Help
Buhari —Oshiomhole

“When you are used to a particular thing, that means
something you know how to do very well. For eight years
of President Obasanjo, all the elections he held, in fact his
government policies were determined by whatever mood he
finds himself and all decisions of government were
brought under his wings, and all that he did in those eight
years are what is hunting him.

“Obasanjo can not imagine that it is possible for a
government to allow INEC statutory independence that it
has. We have had 93 elections since APC came to power
and we are sure that all those elections were conducted
without any interference from this government. In fact, if
there is anything you want to credit this government with, it
is the fact that institutions are allowed to fulfill their
mandate without anybody’s interference. So, we can
understand where the former President is coming from, his
past is haunting him.

“The 2003 and 2007 elections were nothing to write home
about and those elections happened under President
Obasanjo. So, for us in APC, votes must count. We are
going to have a free, fair and credible election. We have no
reason to want to rig elections because our achievements
speak for us. So, President Obasanjo should adjust to the
reality of imminent defeat that is staring him in the face.
He has carried himself about as the dispenser of our
destinies and God is showing him clearly that he has just
only been lucky and the favour God has done for him, he
has now considered them as things that come from him.”

Buhari won’t debate with Atiku, others Don’t Allow PDP Sabotage Democracy, Presidency Warns

APC also said it is an insult for its candidate to be on the
same stage with the presidential candidate of the People
Democratic Party PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

Issa-Onilu stated clearly that the debate is meant for those
that are seeking power and not the likes of President
Buhari who has a lot already speaking for him.

Both Atiku Abubakar of PDP and President Buhari of APC
were conspicuously missing at the live presidential debate
organised by the Broadcasting Corporation of Nigeria
(BON) and others.

He said Buhari was already engaging with the public
through several other platforms which are considered more
important and to meet APC’s interest.

He said: “The president doesn’t have to give any reason at
all for not attending that debate. The debate is just one of
the several platforms that are available for our candidate
to engage with the public, we cannot exhaust all the
platforms. So we pick the platforms that are most
impactful and we are the ones in the position to determine
which platform we want to use.

“To debate with who? That is an insult, that the president
will come debate with who? The debate the president is
having is what he did that morning in Niger state. The
people of Niger state can look forward to a brighter future.
The people of this country, everywhere they go can see
development, they can see projects going on. So these are
the debates that the president is already engaging with
public.

“So, that particular debate may be important and I think it
is important to people who are seeking power, not for
somebody who has a lot speaking for him already. So, for
us in APC, the debate as a fantastic idea it is, it is just one
of the several options for our own candidate to engage
with the public. There are many platforms we have used,
there are many platforms we are still going to use and
there are many we may not use. It is up to us to chose the
platforms that will serve own interests.

“Don’t forget, just few days before this debate came, the
president was live for two hours with Nigerians discussing
his projects. Beside him was the Vice President of this
country, talking about his projects and having very
important debate over those policies and projects with
Nigerians, with people having unfettered access and
opportunity to make calls to him, to seek clarifications and
ask questions. That for us is what our candidate needs.
That for us is more important.

Buhari Mobilises Votes For APC In Minna

“That gives us the opportunity to say we are different. We
are not in the same class with Atiku and the PDP to come
share the same stage with people who ruined this country.
To talk about what? The same people who started several
projects and they became conduit pipes and the APC
government has come in, fixing all these projects one after
the other. The same party complaining about the fact that
we are completing projects. Is that the party you want us
to stand on the same stage to debate with. Don’t take
Nigerians for granted. We are not in the same class.”

#NgTheCandidates: Why I haven’t spoken on the allegations of corruption against Governor Ganduje- President Buhari

President Buhari has said that he has not commented on the allegations of bribery against Kano State Governor Umar Ganduje simply because the Kano State House of Assembly has commenced investigations into the matter and that he isn't sure what kind of technology was used in making the video.

President Buhari said this today when he spoke at the Town Hall Meeting where the 2019 presidential candidates and their running mates have been scheduled to respond to questions about their manifestos.

According to President Buhari, he has seen the video and is shocked and finds it hard to believe that Ganduje would brazenly accept bribe from contractors and smile while at it.

He added that he would seek for clarity on the case when he goes to Kano for campaigns.

PhonesFacebook Announces Measures To Check Fake News In Nigeria’s Elections by boman2014(op): 10:37pm On Jan 16, 2019
In order to curb the spread of fake news during the
forthcoming general elections in Nigeria, Facebook
has said only advertisers located in Nigeria would
be allowed to run political advertisements on the
social media site, says a news report published by
Reuters.

It has become an unwholesome practice, globally, to
see groups with vested interests try to influence
elections in different countries, through fake news
targeting potential voters.

There were reports last year of how a London-
based data mining and analytic firm, SCL, which is
the parent company of Cambridge Analytica, tried to
rig the 2015 Nigerian presidential election in favour
of the incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan.

The firm, said to have been hired to do the dirty job
by an unnamed Nigerian oil billionaire who was
afraid of Mr. Jonathan losing the election, planted
fake news on social media sites to scare voters
from voting for the opposition candidate,

Muhammadu Buhari, who eventually won the
election.

Nigeria’s presidential election holds on February 16.
Mr Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is
running for re-election. His main challenger is the
country’s former vice president Atiku Abubakar of
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reuters quoted Katie Harbath, Facebook’s director
of global politics and outreach, as saying that
beginning on Wednesday in Nigeria, only advertisers
located in the country will be able to run political
adverts on the social media site.

Ms Harbath said the decision mirrors a policy
unveiled during an Irish referendum last May.
The same policy will take effect in Ukraine in
February, according to Reuters. Ukraine is holding
its presidential election on March 31.

“We’re learning from every country. We know we’re
not going to be perfect, but our goal is continuing,
ongoing improvement,” Ms Harbath said.

Apart from control over advert sources, Facebook
would be deploying other tools to curb election
interference in Nigeria and other countries.
It is, however, unclear to what extent these
measures would help curb the influence of fake
news on Nigerian voters.

The spread of fake news has become a disturbing
phenomenon globally.

Joy and happiness were visible on the face of a
teenage street hawker after he was released from
prison. He had spent two years for a crime he
didn’t commit.

The 17-year-old hawker identified as John Ogbonna
was falsely accused of armed robbery and
remanded in Ogwashi Uku prison in Delta state for
two years.

After thorough investigation by Behind Bars
Initiative (BBI), it was learnt that the young man
was innocent of the charges labelled against him by
the Delta state police command.

It was gathered the boy had a misunderstanding
with a motorist while he was selling wrist watches
along Okpanam road in Asaba and the man
reportedly used SARS to lock him up.

John celebrated his release with the BBI team
shortly after regaining freedom.
