Currently trending on social media is the
alleged arrest of Nigerian cross-dresser and
rumoured gay man, Idris Okuneye, popularly
known as Bobrisky .

It appears these are trying times for the self-
acclaimed African male barbie as his eccentric
lifestyle which has constantly earned him
backlash from Nigerians, has finally landed him
in trouble with the law.

According to the gist going round, the
effeminate celebrity was picked up on the night
of January 23 at his residence inside Bera
Estate, Chevron Drive, in Lekki and taken to an
unknown destination.

He was, however, brought back to move his
cars. Unconfirmed reports suggest his arrest is
in connection with his cross-dressing lifestyle
which is heavily frowned upon in Nigeria.

A video was shared to @instablog's account
which shows some armed policemen outside his
residence. One of the officers was also quoted
as saying, “we will turn him back to a guy.

This is not his first dance with law enforcement
officers.


Recall a while back on his birthday, social
media was thrown into a turmoil after news
broke that men of the Nigerian Police Force
(NPF), had been stationed at the venue of the
event and prevented Bob's party from going on.

Although unconfirmed at the time, several
posts by Bobrisky on popular social media
platform, Snapchat, confirmed that he truly
could not proceed with his celebration.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)
has asked the federal government to
declare the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders
Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) a
terrorist organisation.

This is coming days after Boko Haram
insurgents killed Lawan Andimi, CAN
chairman in Michika local government area
of Adamawa state.

In a communique in Abuja, on Thursday,
Samson Ayokunle, CAN president,
condemned the killing of Andimi and other
Christians across the country.

“Nigeria is under a siege orchestrated by the
murderous blood-thirsty and criminally-
minded Boko Haram terrorists, Fulani
terrorist herdsmen, bandits and kidnappers
who are all armed to the teeth, dressed in
army uniforms, and gradually overwhelming
our security agencies,” the communique
read.

“They have been going around invading
predominantly Christian villages and towns,
killing and maiming our youths and elders,
men and women; raping our women and
daughters, decapitating children and
disembowelling pregnant women, and
subjecting people to coldblooded murder.”

Ayokunle said herdsmen under the platform
of Miyetti Allah have contributed to the
killings of Christians in some northern
communities.

He alleged thatb Miyetti Allah has a similar
agenda with the Boko Haram sect.

“The Fulani herdsmen were in Aghatu land
in Benue State and other predominantly
Christian communities; killing and maiming
their victims. Mass burials have become the
order of the day and to add salt to the
injury, it was the Federal Government that
was justifying the killings of the citizens by
accusing some governors of making laws
against open grazing,” he said.

“As if that were not enough, the Miyetti
Allah the Fulani herdsmen have claimed
responsibility for the killings and justifying
their actions. In other instances, they
disown the killers, telling us that there are
other herdsmen who are not their members
but who also register with the Corporate
Affairs Commission (CAC).

“These terrorists have not hidden their goal
to Islamise Nigeria and that is what they
have in common with the Fulani herdsmen.
They have turned the North-East geo-
political zone, especially, Borno, Adamawa,
and Yobe, into killing fields.

“The Federal government should either label
the Miyetti Allah Fulani Association a
terrorist organisation as being regarded in
the terror index. The Federal Government
should order the arrest of the leadership of
the Miyetti Allah Groups in who are
sponsoring and perpetuating the crime of
Nigeria and prosecute them for all the
killings in Southern Kaduna, Benue, Plateau,
and Taraba states, among others.”

He also asked Buhari to “overhaul the
security council with a view of bringing in
new heads of all the security agencies and
the para-military which no religion or part
of the country will dominate”.

Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, says the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) speaks as if it is an opposition political party.
Adesina was reacting to a statement by the Christian body on the death of Lawan Andimi, CAN chairman of Michika local government in Adamawa state.
Andimi was killed on Monday after N800 million ransom allegedly demanded by the insurgents was not paid.
Reacting to his killing, the association asked President Muhammadu Buhari “to purge himself of the allegations of nepotism and religious favouritism by reconstituting the leadership of security outfits”.
But in an article entitled: ‘Beheaded Adamawa Pastor: CAN Got It Mixed Up’, on Friday, Adesina said CAN should purge itself of narratives aimed at discrediting the Buhari administration.
He said it was reckless of CAN to suggest that the government is colluding with the insurgents.
“If any purging is to be done, is it not by those making allegations? The allegations lasted for many years, but truth eventually overtook them,” he said.
“If CAN would then still dwell on the discredited accusations, it must be the one to purge itself, as millions of Nigerians, including Christians, have already done. The insecurity in the country is not about any religion. It is pure evil, from the pit of hell.
“Let’s consider this part of the press statement. Maintenance of security is the least responsibility of any government that knows its worth. Not news. The constitution says so. But don’t you glean a hint of bile and bias in ‘that knows its worth?’ Oh, CAN, this is not the mind of our Master.
“He gives praises when due. Security is number one on the priorities of the Buhari administration. It has pumped time and humongous resources into it, and while the job is not fully done, we are not in the same position we were before the administration came.
“CAN says kidnappings and killings are shameful to a government that boasts that it has conquered insurgency. Boasts. So that is all that matters to CAN, as if it was an opposition political party? Boasts. No. This would not augur for unity and cohesion in a country.
“We are not asking the Christian body to be in bed with government, that would not help anybody, but the organization has been sounding too long like a political party.”

The Nigerian Government has agreed with
governors of South-West on the creation of
'Operation Amotekun'.

This came after a meeting between the
governors and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
The government in a statement said that the
governors must ensure that necessary legal
instruments were put in place by each of the
states for the initiative.

The statement reads, "Vice President Osinbajo
met today with South-West governors, the
Attorney-General of the Federation and
Inspector-General of Police.

"Having regard to the need for all hands to be
on deck in addressing the security concerns
across the country, it was agreed that the
structure of Amotekun should also align with
the community policing strategy of the Federal
Government.

"It was also agreed that necessary legal
instruments will be put in place by each of the
states to give legal backing to the Amotekun
initiative and address all issues concerning the
regulation of the security structure,"

A newly-discovered part of our immune
system could be harnessed to treat all
cancers, say scientists.


The Cardiff University team discovered a
method of killing prostate, breast, lung and
other cancers in lab tests.

The findings, published in Nature
Immunology, have not been tested in patients,
but the researchers say they have "enormous
potential".

Experts said that although the work was still at
an early stage, it was very exciting.


What have they found?

Our immune system is our body's natural
defence against infection, but it also attacks
cancerous cells.

The scientists were looking for "unconventional"
and previously undiscovered ways the immune
system naturally attacks tumours.

What they found was a T-cell inside people's
blood. This is an immune cell that can scan the
body to assess whether there is a threat that
needs to be eliminated.


The difference is this one could attack a wide
range of cancers.

"There's a chance here to treat every patient,"
researcher Prof Andrew Sewell told the BBC.
He added: "Previously nobody believed this
could be possible.

"It raises the prospect of a 'one-size-fits-all'
cancer treatment, a single type of T-cell that
could be capable of destroying many different
types of cancers across the population."


How does it work?

T-cells have "receptors" on their surface that
allow them to "see" at a chemical level.

The Cardiff team discovered a T-cell and its
receptor that could find and kill a wide range of
cancerous cells in the lab including lung, skin,
blood, colon, breast, bone, prostate, ovarian,
kidney and cervical cancer cells.

Crucially, it left normal tissues untouched.
Exactly how it does this is still being explored.
This particular T-cell receptor interacts with a
molecule called MR1, which is on the surface of
every cell in the human body.

It is thought MR1 is flagging the distorted
metabolism going on inside a cancerous cell to
the immune system.

"We are the first to describe a T-cell that finds
MR1 in cancer cells - that hasn't been done
before, this is the first of its kind," research
fellow Garry Dolton told the BBC.


Why is this significant?

T-cell cancer therapies already exist and the
development of cancer immunotherapy has
been one of the most exciting advances in the
field.

The most famous example is CAR-T - a living
drug made by genetically engineering a patient's
T-cells to seek out and destroy cancer.

CAR-T can have dramatic results that transform
some patients from being terminally ill to being
in complete remission.

However, the approach is highly specific and
works in only a limited number of cancers
where there is a clear target to train the T-cells
to spot.

And it has struggled to have any success in
"solid cancers" - those that form tumours rather
than blood cancers such as leukaemia.

The researchers say their T-cell receptor could
lead to a "universal" cancer treatment.


So how would it work in practice?

The idea is that a blood sample would be taken
from a cancer patient.

Their T-cells would be extracted and then
genetically modified so they were
reprogrammed to make the cancer-finding
receptor.

The upgraded cells would be grown in vast
quantities in the laboratory and then put back
into the patient. It is the same process used to
make CAR-T therapies.

However, the research has been tested only in
animals and on cells in the laboratory, and more
safety checks would be needed before human
trials could start.


What do the experts say?

Lucia Mori and Gennaro De Libero, from
University of Basel in Switzerland, said the
research had "great potential" but was at too
early a stage to say it would work in all cancers.
"We are very excited about the immunological
functions of this new T-cell population and the
potential use of their TCRs in tumour cell
therapy," they said.

Daniel Davis, a professor of immunology at the
University of Manchester, said: "At the moment,
this is very basic research and not close to
actual medicines for patients.

"There is no question that it's a very exciting
discovery, both for advancing our basic
knowledge about the immune system and for
the possibility of future new medicines."

Femi Fani-Kayode and the Church of Satan
took dragged each other over report of a
pregnant woman who was killed by members
of a Christian sect in Panama.

LIB reported earlier that the Church of Satan
made a clarification on the incident, stating it
was a case of Christians killing other
Christians. According to the organization, the
incident has nothing to do with Satanism.

However reacting to Church of Satan's claim,
the former Minister of Aviation averred that
they are just like their father 'Satan' who is
the father of lies. He added that satanists
find it so difficult to accept responsibility for
their actions.

The world number three deadliest terrorist
organization, Boko Haram, has on Friday
kidnapped four armed soldiers and two police
officers along Damaturu-Maiduguri road,
Vanguard reports.

Military sources who revealed this to TheCable,
said Boko Haram attacked the security officers
in an ambush near Auno village on Damaturu-
Maiduguri road.

The insurgents who appeared in military
uniforms were said to have mounted a
roadblock on the highway with three Hilux vans
before taking away the hostages who were
returning from a short break.

“Four military men were abducted in an 18
seater bus while two other policemen were
abducted in a Gulf car,” one of the sources
said.

Nigerians and other foreign nationals residing in
Keimoes and Upington area of Northern Cape,
South Africa, have been given 12 hours to
vacate the communities.


This was after a violent clash between locals
and foreigners following the killing of a police
officer and his cousin on Wednesday.

A Nigerian had stabbed Constable Nico Visagie
and his cousin to death, infuriating locals, who
attacked foreigners and set their houses and
stalls on fire.

“The community members of Keimoes and
environs went on rampage, burning and
destroying properties belonging to foreign
nationals, Nigerians in particular.

"These attacks spread to Upington. Nigerians
and other foreign nationals were also expelled
from Upington.

“Prompt police intervention this morning
brought about calm but the situation is still
tensed.

“Some locals were arrested by the police for
public disturbance and malicious damage to
properties.

"They have appeared in Keimoes Magistrate
Court for a bail hearing,” said Adetola Olubajo,
President, Nigerian Union South Africa.

Olubajo further said that the suspect, who had
been on the run since the incident, has been
arrested and will appear in court on or before
next Monday.

He commended the South African Police Service
for their swift intervention, calling for more
protection for Nigerians and other nationals in
the Northern Cape.
