bluecircle470:
Nigerians started seeing full page color adverts in national dailies commending Glo boss Chief Mike Adenuga for being honored with the French distinguished medal by President Emmanuel Macron during his recent state visit. However, many did not know for what reason.

Mike Adenuga Newsmakers gathered from reliable sources that the Globacom boss got the highest French honor of commander of the Legion of Honor for rebuilding the French Cultural Center otherwise known as Alliance De Francaise on Alfred Rewane Road Ikoyi Lagos all by himself.

The idea of the rebuilding of the French edifice which acted as a receptacle for French cultural activities and relationships with Nigeria was said to have been muted by Adenuga’s daughter Mrs. Bella Disu whose relationship with France has been on for a long time.

Insiders say Bella sought the support of her generous dad who agreed to foot the bill of the reconstruction effort.

She is also said to have supervised and coordinated the reconstruction work of the edifice commissioned by French President in the presence of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and other distinguished Nigerians.

Chief Michael Adeniyi Agbolade Ishola Adenuga Jr, GCON is a Nigerian billionaire businessman described as the second-richest person in Nigeria. His company Globacom is Nigeria’s second-largest telecom operator, and has a presence in Ghana and Benin Republic.

At the commissioning, Macron described Adenuga as a “role model for Africa”.

weyreypey:
Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has denied being responsible for the defection of some members of the Kwakwansiyya group in the All Progressives Congress in the state.

A statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said, “The focus of Governor Obaseki is governance and getting the dividends of democracy to the ordinary Edo people.

“While he holds every member of the political party in high esteem, his first loyalty is to the Edo masses.

“They are the ones whose mandate he carries and they always come first.”

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that some alleged aggrieved members of the APC, led by Mr. Osamede Adun, had announced their defection from the party in Benin on Thursday.

They cited the governor’s “leadership style” and “lack of political patronage” as reasons for their defection.

I have tasted Calabar soup and I have never enjoyed it my dear, it’s my least favorite soup. There are many Yoruba soups that you will never eat. Don’t go by Lagos Standards, Lagos is a fast city and people will eat what is fast. Doesn’t mean that there are no variety to Yoruba soups. By the way most tribes don’t have more than 4 or 5 soups so it’s funny when you guys come and say Yoruba don’t have soup. I won’t go down this road with you. I know you are Igbo, but you want to twist it around and call it IBO to make you sound not Igbo. I don’t have time for this. The efo riro you eat in Lagos is not even the correct one. Efo riro is made of about 4 different types of vegetables. So you see, what you eat in Lagos is commercial and meant for busy and hungry people, it has no bearing on the true nature of Yoruba foods.
Firstly, I am proudly an Edo woman and will never trade my ethnicity for any other tribe. I'm not surprised though, coz most of u guys think any state after Ore is IBO.

Your dislike for akwa Ibom soup or other tribe soups makes it only you in a million. I'm a foodie, I have visited almost all States and tasted their delicacies, I enjoy ewedu and gbegiri with only amala but efo riro with any swallow. Take or leave it,when it comes to soup Yoruba is not among the first 5 in Nigeria.

This has nothing to do with tribe, if not I would claim Edo soup is the best.

Yea right. Egusi is a Yoruba word first and foremost. We own the soup my dear. I have never seen Igbo egusi soup anywhere. When I was growing up, Igbo Egusi soup did not exist. They have their own native soups and so do we. I think Yoruba’s have the best soups. I have tried Igbo and even Akwa Ibom soups and they are not delicious to me. The soup is too watery or the vegetable too hard. Very overhyped. It must be based on palette or taste for anyone to call it the best soups.
Tah! Aside Efo riro which I like so much because of the pepper,Yoruba don't have any other soup.
Is it the okro or ewedu with stew? Or the watering Egusi with stew?
I have tasted Egusi from both IBO n Yoruba buka, the IBO's own wins anytime. Don't know much about other IBO soup but don't compare Yoruba soup with Akwa Ibom, the Akwa Ibom are number in Nigeria when it comes to variety of delicious looknsalivate soup.

I am a very gregarious or rather should i say a social individual,i keep alot of company but my actual real friends circle is pretty small,i actually never bought this male bestie of a thing from the onset because i felt it was thrash and irrelevant to me, i was satisfied with my girlfriends around, but during my 100 level in the university there was this particular guy i met then i was still a fresher i never knew much about the school he helped me alot with my clearance, getting a place to stay, showing me around school with alot of stuffs too numerous to mention here.

As time goes on suprisingly we started getting very close much more closer than i ever expected he was very nice and caring to me,sometimes he acts like my dad he is the only male friend i have who dares scold me in my wrong doings as time goes on before i could even realize it he was the closest to me among all my friends he was always there for me when i needed someone even when i dont he was there. We became so close i started confiding in him alot,i even told him stuffs i cant tell my mum we got so close he knows almost everything about me,everyone av dated, whom am dating,my breakups,my sex life,my kind of guy,my attitude towards dating, how i reason, even before saying something he has an idea of what am about to say, this guy knows my girlcode to the freaking core there is hardly anything i can hide from him,he has being of great assistance to me always forcing me to read my books and forget social medias, the truth is that he is the major reason for my drastic improvement academically, i was always at the receiving end, there is hardly anything i do for him yet he stayed i realized i needed him more than he needed me.

it all started few days ago as usual we just left from an eatery store heading back home he decided to drop by my place to charge his pc which he was using for his finals project work since there area had light issues, fast forward to when we got home there it goes we were talking as usual then all of a sudden he started saying stuffs how he feels about me all this while but only kept it to himself after hearing him speak for almost 3hours i was totally confused i didnt say anything i just starred at him the whole time till he finished ,noticing my silience he then asked me what i had to say about what i just heared,i had no idea on what to say i was totally confused i have never seen him this serious my entire life,in an attempt to escape the moment and look on his face i told him to give me sometime to dissolve all what i have heard after which he left.

Now am put in one of the most difficult situations i have ever being he is a very nice person, one of the nicest guys i have met yet he treats me better than anyone else, he treats me better than anyone am dating words can hardly explain i like him alot but i dont think i love or have any feelings or so for him this a guy who waited almost 4yrs to ask me out,a guy who knows me better than all my friends,i feel this guy knows too much and am scared he might use that against me one way or the other after all he has done for me i feel i owe him more, i cant look him in the eyes and tell him that i dont love him,i dont want to hurt his feelings and i dont want to loose him either cux he is my bestfriend i dont want to look like the bad person in front of everyone else but pleasing him here means displeasing myself i dont know what to do anymore cux i dont want to hurt anyones feeling, have being avoiding his calls and text cux i dont know what to say please i need a sincere and modest advice here what can i do in this situation i dont want anyones feelings getting hurt.
What is love without understanding.

The best marriages are always marriages of best friends.

Igbos call egusi melon. Egusi is not an Igbo word or food. Stop misinforming. Even the way you cook Egusi is very typical of Yoruba soups. We cook soup differently from others with a palm oil and pepper base.
Melon is English.

Who cooks Egusi soup with groundnut oil? grin

The Yoruba Egusi soup can't be compared to the Igbo's Egusi soup. I've tasted both and I'm not from any of the tribes, the IBO Egusi soup is real deal and the Yoruba's is always supported with stew(that one na soup)?

Lizzysamuel:
Suspected hoodlums have killed a 70-year-old woman in her home in Benin City, Edo State, causing a serious commotion in the area.

Unidentified hoodlums on Wednesday killed a 70-year-old woman, Helen Udugbezi, at her residence in Benin. The hoodlums were alleged to have used a big stone to kill the deceased.
The housemaid of the deceased, Anna Amos, who was at home when the incident occurred, alleged that she was almost stabbed and raped by the hoodlums.

The maid also alleged that she was gagged and blindfolded by the hoodlums before they killed her madam.
She said, “I was working when the boys entered the house. I wanted to shout and one of them wanted to stab me.
"Another one said I was still a small girl; they tried to rape me but I said no. I heard a noise but I didn’t see what they were doing.
‘‘Then, they put a stone on my hand and asked me to say I kill mama.”

However, the son of the deceased, who gave his name as Harrison Udugbezi, said that he was surprised that his mother was killed in such a brutal manner.
The spokesman of Edo Police Command, DCP Chidi Nwanbuzor, confirmed the incident, adding that police had commenced investigation into the matter.

Politics › Re: Ademola Adeleke: Certificate Not Compulsory For Governorship Candidates – Court by Born2Breed(f): 11:07am On Aug 09, 2018
Gucciblog:
An Osun State High Court presided over by Justice David Oladimeji yesterday dismissed a suit challenging the eligibility of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 22, 2018 governorship election in the state, saying that the constitution does not state that a candidate for the office of the governor must possess a certificate.

The plaintiffs, Rasheed Olabayo and Oluwaseun Idowu who are members of PDP in Osun had dragged Adeleke to court claiming that he did not possess the required certificate that qualifies him to contest governorship election in the state and urged the court to restrain the party from presenting him to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as candidate of the party.

They also urged the court to restrain INEC from accepting Adeleke from PDP as its candidate on the basis that the Senator was not qualified, quoting Section 177 (d) of the 1999 Constitution.
In his judgement, Justice Oladimeji said the claims of the plaintiffs that Adeleke does not possess school certificate cannot disqualify him from contesting the election because the constitution does not state that a candidate for the office of the governor must possess a certificate.

Justice Oladimeji said the constitution only stipulated that the candidate must be educated up to secondary school level and that the plaintiff also admitted that the Senator attended Ede Grammar School.
The judge struck out the case saying that whether Adeleke obtained a certificate or not cannot be used to disqualify him and that the fact that he attended the school is enough for him to contest.

Everyone keeps referring to the number of casualty on the Biafra side but none about the casualty on Nigerians side.

When the Biafra's attacked the former Bendel on their was to Lagos alot of Edo/Delta citizens were murdered until the Benin Resistance Movement had to resort to self help by using the guerrilla tactics to weaken the Biafra soldiers before the arrival of the Nigerian army.

These one sided story has to stop, three million Nigerians died from both the former Biafra and Nigerias side.
Politics › Re: Saraki Has This To Say About Akpabio's Defection To APC by Born2Breed(f): 9:00pm On Aug 08, 2018
Kingsmeal:
Following Senator Akapbio's defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, the Senate President has reacted.

The President of the Senate Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki may be nursing a Presidential ambition for 2019. This is even as called the defection of Senator Godwill Akpabio to the All Progressives Congress as a non-important issue.

This was disclosed during the question and answer session at the World Press Conference addressed by Saraki over the siege on the National Assembly by operatives of the DSS.

Saraki who was asked by a representative of a foreign media if he would be vying for the highest office in the land, did not deny having such ambition.

He however said that today was a day to talk about democracy, adding that he would answer the question on another day.

“We are here today about the democracy of this country, and that is what is important to me and to all of us that are here.

“I think when the time is right I will talk on your issue but today, we are talking about democracy in Nigeria, to defend the rule of law,” he said.

On whether or not he would relinquish the position of Senate Presidency which he was ‘given’ under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Saraki stressed that he was not given the position but was elected by members.
He said that the Constitution allows any member of the Senate to stand for election as the President of the Senate irrespective of the party the person belongs to.
“I was not given the position as senate president, I was elected by members.

“According to our constitution, it says a member of the National Assembly who so wishes….. it doesn’t say you have to belong to any political party,” he said.

On the defection of Senator Godswill Akpabio to PDP, Saraki said that it is not an worthy of comment at the time.

He said that the press conference was called to discuss important National issues of which Akpabio’s defection was not party of.

“This happens from time to time, so I do not think it is a national issue for me to comment on,” he said.

NAN reports that at the end of the briefing, the President of the Senate got a rousing ovation and chants of ‘Oloye! Oloye! Oloye!
