Ehrnie:GCMS note is like a workflow sheet on your application. It shows the level of activity/work and stages your application has gotten to. Yes you can request for it. Especially if you are not comfortable with the timeline of event |
vcole:There is absolutely nothing wrong with my opinion and yours is also okay. The primary applicant which is the wife is saying - look we have the money but some is coming from my husband and he liquidated his Cooperative investment, this is a letter to prove he actually had a cooperative investment. She is also saying - I have a cooperative investment and I have liquidated it, please see evidence from my Cooperative society. Review my statement of account and the date of inflow and narration on the statement, it will confirm that the inflow is actually from the cooperative investment. Why I want the spouse, who is the OP requiring explanation, to submit his own statement is because if he credits his wife account with the huge inflow and just explain with letter of explanation. The VO might raise eyebrow and ask why is the husband crediting the wife's account and where did he get the money from - these are possible questions. The aim of the application is to clearly satisfy the VO objectively that even if she/he takes the applicant application to a superior officer that same decision can be reached. Letter of explanation is not a end to a means and is subjective. The VO does not need to rely on it to reach a decision. Your documents should satisfy such requirements. Rather why can't the LOE state I got this large sum from my Cooperative investment. Attached is the Cooperative certificate. My husband also have a fixed deposit for 6 months, attached the fixed deposit certificate or TBills certificate - simply or my husband also liquidated his Cooperative investment, see the certificate and his statement of account. The money is there. The VO reviewing these documents can trace where the monies are coming from. C'mon two large sum credit entry in a statement of account and close to date of submission. That's enough room for someone to want to know more about the source. What you are also saying is that someone's spouse can go borrow money, credit his partner with the amount and submit reference letter to say - hey guys it came from my salary. If VOs are that dumb - great idea for people struggling with POF |
optionese:Very good decision. |
optionese:Okay which means you have less than or up to two months left to submit your application. I don't know what date in June you will be credited. Now your wife can submit her 6 months statement of account. Go ahead and buy the Tbills for 6 months and attach the certificate as part of the POF. Now you don't need to submit your own statement of account. Alternatively, since your Cooperative is registered and I don't know if your wife's Cooperative is registered. If her isn't registered. Let her buy the Tbills after she has liquidated and you submit your 6 months statement of account with the fund intact. Submit your application close to expiration date and also print the account statement close to that date, but you would have already purchase the Tbills. In short you should have purchase the Tbills like yesterday. The reason I said print your statement close to the expiration date of your application is because it will show that the money has stayed at least for a month. However, you may be asked to submit statement of account again in the future. This is to satisfy the VO that the money is still in your account. The TBill certificate already will show that you cannot withdraw the money till after 6 months - so this is good. Whichever you choose, you MUST explain concisely your POF in your letter of explanation. You can even indicate that you do not have plans to withdraw your funds till you get COPR. |
optionese:Yes nothing wrong in submitting two accounts. The only problem will be the document size. Because each document upload should not exceed 4MB, so they may have to compress the PDF file of their account statements and any other documents that support their POF. Recall, in your EE profile, you would be asked - how much do you intend to come to Canada with. In this question column, you specify the amount you would be traveling to Canada with and then support this claim with official documents (POF). And when you land in Canada, you show them the fund (Settlement fund). Both remember that you must consider the minimum amount as indicated for your family size. So your POF/Settlement fund can be higher than but not below the minimum amount required for your family size. Cheers!!! |
optionese:My first question is when are you applying. Second question, have you gotten ITA? Good to know your Cooperative is registered. Get a letter from them, including all the documents you specified above. I don't know, just my opinion, I don't think it's okay to then buy Tbills with this same money again. You can leave it in your account (just my opinion) especially if you intend to submit your application soon. |
optionese:Spouse of the primary applicant do not submit POF. The POF section in the document checklist will only be indicated for the Primary applicant. However, the statement of account that the primary applicant would submit can either have his/her name; the name of his/her spouse or a joint account in their names. The POF should not be a joint account of the primary applicant with a 3rd party like for instance a sibling or a joint account of the spouse and a 3rd party maybe his/her father. So if all the funds is in the spouse account. The primary applicant can just submit the bank statement of his/her spouse as POF. Rather than receiving a large sum of money and using gift deed. Marriage certificate is documentary evidence that you and your spouse are married. Affidavit for change of name indicates especially for women that you once bear a different name, when you were single, but now have another name. Further questions won't be asked. So I was surprised when I read comments where husband's were transferring money to their wives, who is the primary applicant, and using a gift deed. |
optionese:HA!!! Then this is a problem. I still insist that the funds be liquidated immediately because of time. According to the OP, it is their money - they didn't borrow. To avoid much issues - just leave the money for 6 or 7 months, then apply. Alternatively, if they are in a hurry - do gift deed. However, the essence is WHY!!! Why gift your wife money that belongs to you both. Like I said, do gift deed ensure other documents are okay without issue - they are good to go. Oh! Don't forget to use LOE to explain. You can say you and your spouse operate your finances separately so you are gifting her the money. |
dupyshoo:What you just explain here is the reason VOs cast doubt on lump sum. What is the essence of a husband transferring money to the wife and then support with gift deed? That's why Accra VOs frown so much with Nigerian applications. The question the VO will ask is - why can't the husband just submit his statement of account because POF can be in the name of the spouse of primary applicant. Your advice shows concealment. A gift deed can protect such concealment but it opens the applicants to intense scrutiny and delay in processing their application. I will only recommend your advice if his Cooperative isn't registered and further add that ALL their documents must proofread multiple times for errors because one slight error leads to ADR and further delay. |
ottawaboi:Chief no need moving these funds from your account to your wife account. POF can be in your name or wife's name - abi you no dey follow her go Canada ni! Liquidate your investment NOW - get a covering letter from your Cooperative on both investments. This is to show where your lump sum came from. If it was TBill or Bond from a Bank, there would be no need to liquidate, you can submit the certificate. My only concern is if your Cooperative isn't a registered cooperative in Nigeria, because the letter head should show their CAC number. If it is registered, you don't have problem. If it's isn't - it is legally wrong to do business with an illegal entity. |
edababa007:I just read a comment where this has been nipped in the bud. If your POF is complete and you still forward pension fund, it will be ignored. If your proof of fund is not complete and you use whatever percentage of your pension fund to support, you will get ADR (additional document requirement) asking you to provide documentary evidence to complete your POF. I am certain Accra VO will send you an email. For the guy asking if POF is different from Settlement fund - yes it is. POF is proof that you have this fund and you forward documentation to the VO, who will first review your POF document, confirm from your bank and express satisfaction that you have the fund. Settlement fund is after you have collected COPR and you have landed in Canada. It is the fund you actually have with you (either in cash or otherwise) at the airport. You will be asked to show funds you came with. This could be cash, which must be declared, investment certificate, TBills, Cashier cheque etc. - now you can add Pension fund certificate and inform the officer that this fund will be credited to you soon even if you don't have the fund in your account. In this situation, you can even open your Nigerian account and show them your bank balances and tell them you are transferring your funds immediately you open a Canadian account. In some cases, customs don't ask for settlement funds, maybe they are tired for the day. |
Chordata:I can confidently tell you that Pension funds if submitted will not be calculated as your POF. Let me explain - you need to prove you have funds to settle in Canada and take care of your family for the meanwhile. This fund MUST be available to you at any point in time - Pension fund isn't. Now when you get to Canada - you can show your Pension fund as part of your settlement funds. That will be accepted to enable you gain entry. Please note settlement fund is not proof of fund. POF is before you get COPR. Settlement fund is after you get COPR and you are landing in Canada. What you disclosed above is what you will show border control when you get to Canada. They will not ask you for 6 months bank statement. However, the VO must ascertain that the fund you claim you have is actually yours. |
AlexanderGreat:Go to the Federal high Court Igbosere. I think its N500 per page. It may have increased oh! |
ottawaboi:POF can either be in the name of the primary applicant or in the name of the spouse. Nothing wrong in POF being in your name. No need to transfer to your wife. Please note that this is just my opinion. The supposed problem with your POF is your cooperative, because the VO will need to confirm objectively that you have the money you claimed in your application and I do not know how your cooperative will satisfy that. You can either get a certificate from your cooperative after you liquidate the funds to show when the investment was made and when it was liquidated. This can assist the VO to form an opinion that the money in your statement of account is actually from your cooperative. Also, like I said previously, no need transferring the money again to your wife. It may appear you are trying to conceal something. Please note that I said, it may appear. Then you can explain your proof of funds in your letter of explanation. And if you can liquidate this cooperatives investment today, please do, but get the certificate and letter from them and also hope your cooperative is registered. On your wife's international passport, she has two choice - wait next year to get a new one or apply with the old one. Also, the name on her passport must be the same on her application. There is a section for applicants who have other names - she can then put her new name there. Then support with marriage certificate, affidavit and newspaper column for change of name. |
merrymum:This is no need for you to be angry. People are different and nobody can or will be like you. On canadavisa.com, all questions, regardless of how ridiculous, are being answered. Also, there are separate threads (PRE ITA, ITA and POST ITA phases). Advising someone to go back to a thread and start reading from the beginning is not encouraging because you do not know the person's circumstances or time pressure. In view of this, I salute those who go as far as answering every question regardless of type. Another thing I need to state here - how did people come about gift deed? It was actually from the Indians on Canadavisa.com. If we do not deliberate to sort out issues, we are not helping. A lot of people actually think getting ITA is the end of it and that is because of the emphasis being placed on getting ITA. Actually getting ITA is just the beginning. Also, someone said nobody has ever been rejected based on digital photo and I want that person to submit the wrong specification first. There is nothing wrong to comment on POST ITA issues here, but it seems sidelined by PRE ITA issues and those on POST ITA phase seem to go elsewhere to get information. |
colegold100:True. Alternatively, a POST ITA thread should be opened to discuss these issues. If you review these thread, you will find out that many of the issues are mainly on WES and IELT (PRE ITA) and very few of POST ITA. However, POST ITA is the main phase of the application and there are a lot of bottlenecks. Even people get rejected for just Digital photo alone. I am not trying to disregard PRE ITA phase. However, the separation will assist participants with concentration and questions will be customised. This will definitely assist people with how to tackle PRE ITA phase and when the individual is successful with ITA, he/she can then move over to the POST ITA phase. Little is being said about the processes undertaken by VOs during POST ITA phase - How background checks are carried out, what type of digital photo you need, whether distance learning education requires PCC (a major reason for rejection), how to avoid gift deeds and pension as POF etc |
ysmd:First, this account your friend credited, is this the account you want to submit to CIC? Second, is 3 million the only POF for your category. If yes to question 2, buy Treasury bills with that 3 million and only submit TB Certificate as POF. If no, you might need a gift deed. Alternatively, you can wait 6 or 7 months as stated, but that huge inflow should not be indicated in your statement. I don't know what narration your friend used. However, waiting will be only if your CRS score is higher than 450 and you are sure of ITA any time. |
dannio:Yes oh - Using gift deed opens your documents to more scrutiny. They know that 99% of gift deeds are actual loans, but with legal documents supporting the gift, there is nothing they can do. Rather they would review your documents very well with the view of finding errors and not completeness. In cases where slight errors can be ignored, they would hold it against the applicant. These are not my views, but from someone who just got COPR. My view - I will advise anyone who intends to use gift deed to avoid it at last minute. If your lender can spare the money for 6 months, use another account to collect the money and buy Treasury bills for 6 months or agree with your lender to credit your account with narration - PURCHASE PAYMENT OF ASSETS/CAR/LAND. Then go and get documents to support sales. If you still want to use gift deed - ensure your documents are over complete without errors. I hope the Visa officers are not reading this comment sha. |
Babachi:My advice on gift deed. If you can avoid it, please do and if you cannot - please ensure all your documents are tight-slipped, no room for errors. |
MummyJaygirls:Hi not to discredit your response. However, I just felt I should comment on this because this got me confused and is a reason for not submitting early. Hence, there is the need for clarity on this issue. Please note that you cannot use Pension fund as POF. The reason is that the fund cannot be liquidated almost immediately. It requires time for the fund to be made available to you. Even if you submit it, it will not be calculated. It will be noted, yes - but will not be included as part of your POF. So it is better you have your POF readily intact to avoid rejection. It takes up to 5 months, after resignation, for your Pension fund to be credited to your account. 4 months after resignation to apply for the fund and possibly 1 month for processing and subsequently crediting. |
LordSebastian:Thanks I think I will do likewise and explain too |
ugoiyke79e:Yes the three (3) different job duties are different NOCs and each role/responsibilities and the time period spent were stated in the reference letter. The concern is that should I upload the same reference letter in each section of the e-document upload or just upload a single one since its the same reference letter with 3 different job duties |
Good morning Guys, I work in three different positions for the same company. The company has given me a single reference letter with the three (3) different duties included. In the e-document upload section, I observed that there are three different sections based on the different duties indicated during EE. I want to know if I should upload the single reference letter or get additional 3 reference letters again |
freeradical:Thanks I duly appreciate your comments. I think I will leave the POF in my wife's account and use LOE to explain. She has a dom account and I don't, so I cannot get the money even if she transfers. Also, I want to avoid gift deed at all cost, because the Visa Officers are aware of its manipulations and in cases where slight errors should be overlooked, they may decide not to let it go because they feel the applicant is manipulating his/her POF by using gift deeds. Thanks all the same. |
freeradical:Thanks man for your response. When you mean 3 years work experience. Do you mean work experience in totality or work experience in a relevant field/skill - NOC. What do you mean by hardship claim for Pension Fund Again - the spouse issue on POF |
Good morning Guys, I have got some concerns and I need assistance. First, I was a trainee with an organisation commencing in July 2008 and I understand employment while one is a trainee is not sufficient work experience. Hence, I did not include that. However, after passing all conditions, our provisional employment letter was replaced with an employment letter on November 2008. This date, Nov 2008, was included in my EE profile as commencement date. When I approach the organisation for a reference letter, the commencement date stated in my reference was December 2008. I recall we were given two weeks vacation and asked to resume in December 2008. Every other thing apart from this date is okay - I'm worried about this. Second, immediately we, myself and my wife, agreed on relocating. I started moving funds to her for safe keeps and advised her to convert to US dollars during the currency fluctuation period and also invest the money in TBills. The dorm account and TBill are in her name. My concern here is I read other comments where primary applicants get gift deeds from their spouse. I know I read that POF can be in the name of the primary applicant, their spouse name or in a joint account of primary applicant and spouse. Reading other people's comment got me worried and concerned. I am the primary applicant here. Third, we have been able to raise sufficient funds as POF and also intend using Pension funds. I have to blame myself here because my wife keeps telling me our POF is complete. However, I decided to research further. I know people have been asking if Pension funds can be used as POF i.e. 25% of the pension fund (myself and my wife). This amount in naira is about N1million and I believe CAD4,200. I need some clarification here. I also know Indians use the pension funds, which is also called Providence funds. On the other hand, I still read about conflicting comments here and I would be grateful if this can be clarified before we submit. Thank you for your anticipated response. |
miella:I think this will be the last time I will comment on this. For me to tell you that over 70 percent is on WES should let you know that I have read through. |
Adeniyitob:Has she been adopted? If not kickstart the adoption process because you need to show evidence for that. They don't do DNA test for Medicals |
lacord5:There was no need to answer him. Someone also advise that I read 0 - 50 when 70 percent is all about WES evaluation. Another person said it would benefit me because I have to search through for my own request. What they forgot is that people's issue maybe different and on the spot answer can save time and money. What is the essence of this thread if people cannot provide on the spot answers rather than referring people to read 0 - 50. You can refer newbies, but not those who already have ITAs or excepting ITAs |
perks:I don't think there is anything wrong with it either. You have people asking questions and also been referred to read page 0 - 50 |
