I know this is unrelated to your question, but have you ever thought about Immigrating to Australia or Canada? You can keep this in mind while still pursuing your UK ILR.

UK immigration rules are very dynamic and always changing. You might make it up to the 9th year of the 10 year ILR, then they would shift the goal post again either to your advantage or disadvantage.

Not as complicated as you think. She just wants to find a way to cover for the remaining 4 years legally

My visa experience was very smooth, it took just 3days for British embassy Abuja to grant my visa. I came with a family permit under the spousal visa category. Applied Monday and received a message to come collect passport Wednesday. I guess I was lucky or just had the right paperwork.

Family permit valid for 6months and I applied for extension and it took about 5months and got 5years residency. My permanent residence application 5years later took just 6weeks and naturalisation application was about a month.

I live in southeast London, Greenwich to be precise. Can’t say it’s the best borough but I love the “Nigerianess” of it. Life initially was tough but with persistence and determination I was able to pull through. I’m a pharmacist working with the NHS and future looking great. We’ve many Nigerian eatery in the Greenwich borough but I prefer Tasty Woolwich.

My advise for anyone coming to the UK is to remain focused and keep pushing. If you’re coming as a student ensure you complete your course and do all you can to establish a relationship with a Caucasian so you can cement your stay here. Except for those who intend to return to Nigeria after education or whatever visa they came with, getting married or impregnating a native should be your top priority.

Avoid driving if you’re on a low income as it’s more expensive to own a car than using public transport for people in London but outside London owning a car is compulsory coz public transport isn’t as active.

But for time I’ve a lot to say as per the other questions by the OP, may probably stop by again later.

Exit fee can't be up to £20 - £40 (depending on provider) compared to the amount you currently paying. I'm sure you can get less than £100 monthly

Yh I argee with you, the person I stayed with said the same thing . It was likely the HR would not like to go through that scare or did not have enough knowledge.

Second on the Canada issue, remember I said each country have a cap so let us use this mathematical example . For this example we would give Nigeria and UK the same cap.
Imagine if 40000 people are allowed from both Nigeria and the same with UK.
We all expect over 1 million Nigerians to apply for the slot of 40000. This would make the cut off from Nigeria for the Express entry to be high .

Now look at the UK .
We expect less than even 5% of the UK population(resident and non resident) to apply for it, because let us face it, Having an indefinite resident permit for UK is better than Canada.
So it may even be less than 5% of the population. In fact I am certain that the UK will not have passed its cap .

So that is why it would be easier to get it at long as you reach the average cut-off cos the competition is few .

In addition Work experience from a developed country like UK would give hidden points you may not realise, let us be Frank, the canadians know what they want. They want the best . Would you prefer an IT skilled worker from Togo over one from the USA ?

Luxury houses are different from houses ...

The lack of knowledge some HRs have can be frustrating. 8 days would have been enough for you to be sponsored. As long as there was an intime application made. If visa expired, you have 14 days grace to put in an application as UKVI will disregard a period of overstaying provided you apply for a new visa, or renewal of your existing visa.

TIER 2 VISA
After studies, students would have 2 years plus the 4 months on their previous study Visa to find a job. This time is enough time to find a job that can offer them a Tier 2 Visa. During my time, I got like 4 offers from different companies in just 3 months , 3 could not sponsor my Tier 2, but one could but the time was so limited to process it (8 days before my Visa expires) . Imagine the amount of time international graduates would not have at their disposal .

I think this is not entirely true. Location might possibly speed things up. Canada Express Entry for Masters and Work experience are graded the same points no matter the country. Work experience in Canada would definitely give points but not UK.

OPPORTUNITY TO MIGRATE TO OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES

When I was in the UK, the person I stayed with was on tier 2 Visa, but his wife was finding it hard to get a visa to meet him (because of some complex issues) . So he applied for an Express entry to Canada for him and his family. I must say, it was much easier for him to get the Canadian Visa than his contemporaries in Nigeria because his points were off the roof .
This is due to the facts that he
1. Had a UK masters in an IT field
2 . Had just 2 years work experience in UK.

Start-up visa is worth mentioning as well

I'm really sorry she eventually got denied after months of waiting.

You need to confirm the reason for refusal so as to know how to proceed. Business accounts can't be used for visa purposes if that's what she used.

People of God my dad is her sponsor and he actively runs that account time to time for his business transactions. Are this VO even thorough or shey them sabi their job at all shaa?

Thanks for ur respomse. She has visited the TLS IKeja several times and today. They keep saying her passport can only be in their centre when it has been returned.

Her husband has already extended his Visa, they are currently on one year extension which expires late November or I think December cause her hubby did a PHD. But he hasn't been able to get a work sponor.so she was gonna apply for her own masters since she has two years experience in UK as a social worker so she can ve a tier 4 visa and then her hubby this time can apply as her deependent, so th ey ve another 2 yrs to plan .And now all this delay.It's soo sad.

Am thinking t[b]his passport is at British Embassy[/b] here in Lagos ,since that's where the visa wld be stamped. Or do they send passports to UK ?

My worry now is if as at 13th Sept that decision was made if the decison made was that she shld be issued a visa. And now that the school is saying they wld revoke the admission cause of her delay in rsuming. Wld that visa also be revoked.

How does she plan to restrategise with less than 2 months visa left? Note that as a Tier 4 dependant, she can only switch to a Tier 2 visa.

Does her partner intend to extend his Tier 4 or switch visa to another category (e.g Start-up Visa)? If he does, she can always still be dependant and defer admission.

Haven't heard of a case like this before . My friend arrived Nigeria from UK 2nd of September and submitted her full application for masters in social work 9th of September priority service paid for that matter.

9th of October is almost here which will make it one mnth since the status has been on 3/6 and she hasnt been notified to come pick up hwr passport at TLS IKeja and no collection mail either. She has called the UK home office five times now and they kept saying decsion has been made since 13th September.So where is her passport. Her school called last week to say she can't meet up again registration is closed etc.

.Now she needs the passport asap so she can return to UK to restrategize.

.she is currently a dependent on her husband tier 4 visa and that expires in November ending..But now that they ve held her passport for so long now how does she even go back to the UK to finalize her home coming with her hubby if it will even eventually lead to that.

Congratulations, don't go and jam anybody and don't let anybody jam you for insurance sake. If you are involved in a colission no go report yourself to insurance whether you are at[b] fault or not else your insurance go double[/b]. If possible send with the other party.

Guy no be like Naija. I currently use Monzo as well (make sense die). Most of the banks (if not all) do not charge any monthly fee unless you upgrade to one.

it was a bad one.. infact it was like a dream..

the Officer screened my passport, then asked if i had issues getting the visa.. i said NO..

then he asked if i have ever been refused before, i said Once.. and then he flipped and went into ogbanje mode asking why i lied earlier on..

i got confused in my mind telling him he asked 2 different questions to which i replied.. and its also stated in my spousal visa application..

He then took me to the detention center section and gave me a form stating why i might be denied entry and all.. ticked the boxes stating pending my answers to further questions i will know if i will be let in..

guess what na so i see 4 nigerian boys dey display.. and he probably used that pattern to judge me too cos the boys were all going cray.. one was asked if his wife worked and he said no.. then asked if he worked.. na so story dey go for the guy..

then there was another indian looking guy who was asking for his lawyer..

i was on the phone wit my wife, and asked to not use phones.. so i obeyed and waited for the officer who was with another checking some records on the monitor..

fam... i was just chewing gum trying to be calm.. like i didnt go thru all these to stop here..

10mins later he came back wt my passport stamped and said he was sorry he needed to do more enquiries into my case cos of my response.. i told him his question wasnt clear..

asked him abt the detention form.. and he said its nothing... i cud tear it up.. then he took it and squeezed it all. .showing me my stamp.. and saying im free to go.. that i wasnt detained but the form was to let me know i needed to answer some questions..

na so i go carousel to pick my bags only to see them on the floor.. broken and damaged ..

Also, flight from Lagos left like an hour late, so i almost missed the connecting flight to London at Istanbul..

what a day...

got my BRP sha and just dey rest...

I meant switched visas to different categories (Tier 1, Tier 2, Spousal) after placement.

The bolded is definitely allowed but would't be called a placement. It will be more of a graduate or junior role.

I don't know why they are saying this and the individual rules of issuing a year visa.

My partner got 2 years with two other friends (different universities). They worked part time, got placements (except one) and switched visas.

At the end of the day, what is on CAS determines what UKVI will issue

Well I got a one year visa. Then the school is supposed to apply to the embassy for an additional 1year for the placement. It's not stated on the CAS.

Quick question though, we were told if you want to benefit from the 12month placement, then you shouldn't have done any kind of job in the UK. As in no part time job. You shouldn't use the 20hr weekly ukvi won't extend your Visa. Anyone heard this before? I am in Birmingham

Your school chose to do that doesn't mean you should generalise hence the wrong info.

The title of the course even included "with placement year or study abroad" yet it was not added to the visa duration.

Nothing to be confused about. If you applied for a 2 year programme with placement, you will get 2 years visa

Your CAS will state the expected end date and if it's a 2 year programme, you will be issued 2 years + 4 months
