The post topic says Modenine put up 157 tracks for download. . . and you jumped on the thread, without second thought, to say you have the CDs. . . which to me can be paraphrased to be "I have all those tracks". . . Let's not even go into the surprise your posts bring by saying you have the cds. . . the point is, he doesn't have all of them on cd.  .  .  So, What the Zap were you drinking when you said all those sh!ts,  Worst part, you are even justifying it.  .  .

If you have the Cds of ALL those joints, then you are even more of a FAN that most of us here. . . . Cos the last time I checked that reverbnation page, Modenine has about 40 tracks there that I haven't seen on any of his cds and not even on his online albums. . . .

So, this reinstates O4ka's statement that you are a hypocrite. . .

People like me will comment?? I saw the whole list, I didn't agree with the list . . . but I saw 'fave rappers for 2010' and it stopped being my business.
Criticising the list by saying 'it's only i naija that we see a list of top artist for a year and half of 'em dont even have any decent material out for the year in view, beats me' . . .and you turn around to say I'm making assumptions??
You must think you're talking to Kaydee or sumn.

Stop chatting bollocks abeg . . . Jay-Z's opinions are not America's opinions.

Saucekid made comments about Nas the other day . . . does that in anyway have anything to do with what Nigerians think of Nas??
Or doesn't Saucekid stand somewhere in the 'scheme of things' of Nigerian hiphop??
Kanye said Soulja Boy was the next Nas . . . does that represent America's views??

M.I's list doesn't neccesarily mean Nigeria's voice and ofcourse it's nobody's business. But with his Status in Nigerian HipHop, people would jump on his comments mainly because People trust him more than any everyday guy. Imagine me saying this is my Top 10 Nigerian emcees, you wouldn't even bother opening the thread let alone commenting on it.

It's synonymous to when KRS One said Souljah Boi is the leader of the new generation of Emcees and also saying 50cent is more hiphop than Kanye because 50cent is more street. Ofcourse this is him speaking for himself and from his own perspectives But his status as a frontier would make everyone say what the f!ck is he saying?

This is more on the pragmatic planes. "his favourite rappers" is his personal feeling. . . but He is M.I. . . so that puts him in a corner where his standpoints should be carefully chosen. Being what I see in this thing.

I don't even know most of these people. are they so underground? grin grin grin

Being my standpoint.

Guyz pls can any one highlight me on how i can hammer on ma new album?

Simple, Hammer on your talent and let us be waiting in anticipation of the album, only 1% of albums released is recognized by people. Why is that, those are few people who have got talent, Don't knock urself out, Just work on it, show it to the administrators of Notjustok and here their honest opinions about your music, DOn't take it personal, just use it to build urself and forget about the money now.

better still , take o4a's advice. borrow hammer or get a big stone and bang on your cd. You don hammer be dat.

by the way, people come out these days with their first efforts, thinking seriously about making money form it, no wonder half baked talents full industry.

wouldn't go for any rap on a long journey. Love to listen to music where I can sink my mind in its complete composition. though never restrict myself to a track but If I must, It would either be

Cranberries' "Just my imagination", Corine Bailey Rae's "Enchantment" and Greenday's "Boulevard of a Broken dream". these tracks are just too much for deep concentration,

I don't think I can actually put just 1 rap track on repeat for 3 hours. Not my style. but IF I'm allowed an album, i'ld go for a good mixtape,

I'ld listen to DJ PRemier's Rare Play!!!!! That can last me for a whole day!!!

$2,500. That's the official amount and as per my experience, THEY WILL COUNT IT. there are times, they just over look it. BUt, be sure to have it because 90% of the time, they check it and count it and they don't even accept the fact that you have money in your credit card. They need to see it.

Why do people bring up Drake in every conversation about J. Cole? Do they even sound alike?

It's like comparing Lil Wayne and Nas.

J. Cole is sick. Drake is not. End of.

nahh. . . It's liek that. JCole and Drake. Came up at the same time, But Drake chose the faster root and J Cole is still preserving his state of mind. They're both Light Skinned. Even the chic in 106 7 park or something like that, called J Cole, the new Drake. . . and his face was like "What Tha F!ck" . . . But you know, The girl knows little of what she was saying anyways. . . That's by the way.

When you said "SICK", I got your point straight. J Coal is a tighter MC sure, but what sets him apart from Drake is that he shows more of the "HipHop state of mind" than Drake. Drake is also good to a point. He's not wack and I'm sure would not do bad if he decides to go hard but the point is he just doesn't have the State of mind. So, when you say sick, I look at it from the angle of "who associates himself and makes Hiphop track more".

I'm not a drake fan, I just think he's not wack.

It aint disgraceful to rock Cargo. Yea concieted artiste may let their assumed popularity

They might not understand this, as simple as it sounds. . . One thing I always avoid while responding to Modenine's issue on this nairaland is that, whatever you say, you're a "stan", "groupie" or anything of such. But the point is clear even from the arguments.

1. Someone said it's a small club and yet its capacity is about 800. and that's a small club?

2. Agreed Modenine is not a new guy and Naeto C, Wande Coal, etc. all go to London to perform in 02. Is that supposed to be a shame for Mode9? Who doesn't know these are pop artists and they would always attract more people to shows than ten mode9s? or would you compare a talib kweli show to in London to even Chris Brown's show?

3. Knaan performed in Cargo last year and someone said who was Knaan last year? This question alone tells me how heavily you rely on radio and TV hype to know an artist. or maybe the question is where were you last year?

4. From this argument here, are you saying when Modenine is going to America for his first show, He should go and perform in Madison Square Garden Will that be ok.

5. However slow his progress his, would you argue with me that his first show in London, performing in Cargo, is still a step backward in his career?

6. Or have you guys forgotten Modenine is not your regular Tuface, not your regular Wande Coal, not your regular Dbanj, not your regular P Square. He's an emcee for God sake. How fast do you think he can go?

These are just rhetorical questions you shouldn't answer cos it's obvious you just hate the guy. First, It was Modenine not rocking shows anywhere. Now it is Modenine rocking small clubs in London?

Yea, first he got The Come Up, then The Warm Up, . .both dope mixtapes.
Tho i feel Drake will appeal more to pple thus push more units, I believe
Cole is doper n a tighter mc.
Who dat was nice. . faster paced, but Premediated murder is realer and runs deeper.
Did u hear the production? Plus cole produced it by himself! And dude sang on the hook
yet didnt sound corny. .

oNe

Yeah right!!! Though, I always want to clear this point. J Cole is a better MC though, Drake appeals more, not because he's a lilbit pop, but because of his sung verses, If he can only tune it back a little, He could win the minds of HipHop headz and even get props. I'v Heard "Dead presidents II" with J Cole and Drake both on it and I believe Drake goes hard too. Though, not a fan of Drake, I still think he's dope also. . .

For real. Been following this dude's sh!ts for a while now . He's one hell of a new school emcee. He's got a prequel album/mixtape out already, "the warm up" and the sh!t is onpoint. To take the mind out of the hype and fame right now, He's nicer than drake with rhymes plus is flow ain't sluggish.

The only problem is, He's on Rocnation and I just only hope his sk!lls don't get diluted so much that he releases a pop album! Juz thinking.

audio:

I'm a big Nneka fan, but since when did she become HipHop for god's sake? It's like if you're black, then you're hip hop. She's more neo soul with a rock edge

it's not about being black, though prominent and entrenched in the Black culture. It's one way or the other, Neo-Soul is like a sister genre to Hip-Hop. Infact, Neo-Soul, according to some school of thought which i also believe, Neo-Soul is under the umbrella of the HipHop culture. Simple reason is they both took over from the Blues and Soul Music. While in rap, you take the written poetry and recite as they do, what they do in Neo-Soul is to make this poetry a sung verse. Also, they both take samples from the old soul and blues music as a technique for their music production; though not much in Neo-Soul as it is in Real HipHop. This is why you'ld see some HipHop producers producing Neo-Soul artists; producers like Madlib, Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, JDilla (R.I.P), Questlove and host of others. Notice their instrumentals sounding like HipHop beats.

You'ld see Lauryn Hill, Joss Stone, Angie Stone, Jill Scott, D'Angelo, Rapheal Sadiq, Leela James, Musiq Soulchild, etc. in the neo-soul category.
