bgees: Brother Ali Ofcourse Brother Ali is conscious of everything. . . from Spiritual to religion and even race (issues about his own race) to politics. . . He is conscious of the environment. However, I wouldn't co-sign Little Brother or Rhymefest for political consciousness. . . I jsut can't figure out a track of Little Brother going hard on the mic with politics. . . If not the usual Bragadodoccio, it is about having a good night with a girl. . . They're one of my favourite Mcs though. |

@ Hamilton's Punch. . . the kid deserved that. . . that was too far for a battle. . . the first two lines would have won the whole thing for him. . . not just exposing the chick liek that. I love that punch. |

Can't remember who said this here. This is witty in a subtle manner. Kinda like it as a line to end a verse Who is Nicki Minaj? Two lines from Jean Grae would crush her jaws. And about Sung verses, I don't really like Drake but I liike the way he does it sometimes. Check out the best of the best Sung Verses from Krayzie Bone and niccah Bizzy Bone. . . |

Music/Radio / Re: Who Is Carrying The Political Torch In Hip-hop Today? by bouzymill(m): 10:38pm On Jun 18, 2010 |
I read this post and waited almost 8 hours for someone somewhere to say something like I know what's going to happen but no one showed up, 25 views and none responded. . . Since it's not about Modenine Vs. Ruggedman or M.I Vs. Saucekid or who has the best track and the worst track? This is about that Culture we all want to associate ourselves with. The culture we all front to be at its forefront. The Culture of "HipHop" where you don't need your legs to go there, all you need is "your state of mind". I know better now. . . Mostay'all ain't REAL. period. On this issue. . . it is evident even in this article that there was a time in history where hiphop would be found in the semantic field of revolution. A culture which stands today as a result of its pioneers' strict adherence to knowledge and wisdom over mediocrity. It is however such a pity that what is know as "HipHop" today is synonymous to pure mediocrity. the contemporary HipHop ahs almost lost its political torch solely because of one fact; "You have to read and see with your minds open to criticize issues". How many young minds read today let alone read with all sense of reasoning. . . Most young minds prefer to default their Cable channel to MTV Base, Channel O, E! or Soundcity where they get influenced by what they see but not what the people they see are seeing. To be able to talk politics, you need to be able to watch different channels and read different articles from different extremes to draw out your own perspective. NO one wants to do that. Since it doesn't sound like FACEBOOK. I've heard IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE talk in an interview solely about politics and instantly i realise how intelligent and brilliantm this cat is, not only in his words but also in his mode of presenting it. In the final analysis, i believe the political torch in hiphop is not vibrant anymore. You only hear the vibes from underground mcs who have the voice and knowledge but don't have the RADIO!!!! and also in my opinion, the little left of the political torch has been shifted almost off the blacks to the Latinos in Hip Hop. . . the IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE, Army of the Pharaohe and so on. . . also, i think in Czech Republic, their political hiphop is really finding its way to the mainstream (not a fact, but what I see in their hiphop) IN MY OWN OPINION. |

The irony of the whole situation is that, if the NFF people have any opportunity to read all these things people are saying here. . . What they would say is that we are all ignorant. . . That is the story of lamp (which light the room but keeps its own behind in darkness). NFF = Nigerian Failure Federation |

aniola01: I dont have the CD but I think "Power of Naija" sounds like the guiness wolrd cup project featuring Omawunmi, Cobhams and Tuface. . . produced by Cobhams. Besides. . . "Power of Naija" - -the title doesn't seem like a track Tuface would feature MJB in. It wouyld probably be a love song or such. |

Rhymstein: Rhymestein. . . These points are clear enough for them to respond but NO, they would divert. The next thing you would hear is that you're an anonist or your comments are asinine. lol This is not even about Modenine or whoever. this is argument based on FACT. I hate exaggerations. 1. Thy Album Come sold six figures on itunes - - - -- - Post figures with references!!!! or better still, who said it on the radio? lol. 2. Ruggedman is the African HipHop Torchbearer in the world hiphop market- - -- Stated by who Itunes? Soundscan abi wetin?. If Airplay equals album sales. . . . then Deebee (Collabo) should be using Murano by now I guess you need to narrow the meaning value of your "Successful". . . ~Sauron~:In the next 2-3 years keeeeeee!!!! even [b]now , Ruggedman is almost irrelevant when it comes to music, the only place you can feel is relevance today is in Controversy. . . so what are you saying? You have been waiting for one album for like two years now and that's how we would remember him. . . you're kidding me Ofcourse[b] "Naija HipHop"[/b] will never forget ruggedman . . . as in "Naija HipHop Fans" But for real, In the HipHop history in Nigeria, Ruggedman will not be forgotten and ofcourse Eedris AbdulKareem would not be forgotten I'm waiting for the usual response. . . |

~Sauron~:Don't even go there man. i'm not your average cat. and that's all i've got to say here ~Sauron~: You know what I'm not going on with a fruitless argument. You are right. ~Sauron~: You get to a certain age, you don't get involved in an argument you wouldn't learn anything. Internet is a free country anyways. !!!! Carry Go my guy, Ruggedman is Africa's HipHop touch bearer, lol. I concur. |
Music/Radio / Re: Tired Of The Music I Am Hearing by bouzymill(m): 11:11pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
hax: You're right about HHNF, that's instant classic. Emeritus is really dope, Forgot about Me feat. (Bun B and Lil Wayne) Lil Wayne didn't do too bad here as I was expecting but mehhhhn, Scarface made this real hot, My most favourite scarface album is "The Fix". That's classic to me and the Geto Boys' Foundation, |
Music/Radio / Re: 2010 Album Drops When I Finish-ruggedy Baba by bouzymill(m): 10:59pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
~Sauron~: First I have to let you know this. This is a forum where people get to debate on issues and hold their standpoint firm. This doesn't mean any debate you get in, you've got to get personal on anybody. I made my point without barking personal jabs to you. you can as well do that. It doesn't make you feel more than a man to get personal on everything anyone says to you. it's not like you would be awarded anything to get personal on people. How can you get so hot on someone who states something that negates your opinion? What has onanism got to do with this i would have commented on it but i feel you just use these words because they are at your disposal and you think it adds to your charisma but no!!! This context has nothing to do with it. It's really not neccesary, ~Sauron~: i said you over-exaggerated and you've done it again. How has this been represented in his awards? saying this is saying he sold the most copies of Album in Africa and i dont feed on fact. you mentioned "Fact" and i showed you the semantic implication of fact. Mehn, they keep your cool oooooo!!!! |
Music/Radio / Re: Tired Of The Music I Am Hearing by bouzymill(m): 10:34pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
hax: Word Brother!!!! I have said this before, and i still say it, you choose to listen to whatever you want to listen to, these cashmoney or souljaboi or whatever only make music for the moment, it is only history that will tell you which track is classic, When I still listen to Geto Boy's "Mind Playing Tricks on Me", I'm still like wow, When I still listen to Ludacris Word of Mouth Album, It's still dope to my ears. Clipse is from the South, though, they don't belong to the dirty south sh*t. There are loads to listen to. Get yourself a copy of Scarface's Emeritus and you've got a classic in the next ten years. Now that's music. I still have all my collections till date, and I've never been tired of any of them, |
Music/Radio / Re: 2010 Album Drops When I Finish-ruggedy Baba by bouzymill(m): 10:09pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
~Sauron~: No diss intended, Since you have stated this as "FACT", can you tell us the sales figures backing your claims? how much of the album was sold on Itunes? how many copies were printed and how many copies were actually bought? I'm not saying you have to spend your precious time to know all these but you've over exxergerated your statement by adding "FACT". ~Sauron~: Itunes don't sign artist, So,itunes dont need your album to be dope. Any album can be sold on itunes, just like it can be sold on Bandcamp.com or any other web applications like that. Truth be told Baraje and some other sh*tty tracks sold Rugged's album, but you know POP would always sell. |

tavarez: It's amazing how anyone would come out and say no "K'naan doesn't play African leauge", "Knaan doesn't sound African" and all that, anywayz, we'ld still call it opinions. How the hell do you get African in your music more than Knaan? Even before his albums. Check his collaborations with Dead Prez and all that, you feel the African spirit and messages. From the days of "dusty foot philosopher" to "Troubadour", the message has been about Africa or his travails as an African in another man's land. In short, What triggered his career was a piece that was solely based on his land which is part of Africa. So What the F*ck"? |
Rap Battles / Re: Ruggedman's Message To You Know Who by bouzymill(m): 5:02am On Mar 15, 2010 |
eldee: I co-sign this. Javalove went too harsh on Ruggedman which I think was a little off the edge. Do you know how many younger mcees started beefing since Nas and JayZ ish and are still on it till date, even when both of them are counting papers together now. It's always like that. We must understand they are both artistes and even though they go personal on each other, we can support our man from the sideline and not neccesarily get ourselves involved in their ish. Let me ask this question? What if any Multinational Company or even internationals call Modenine and Ruggedman to feature in an advert together as probably "pals", would they turn the deal down because of their personal problems or run for their money?? Let them handle their shits and let us judge from their reactions. @ Javalove U wan wound ruggedman? lol |
Music/Radio / Re: Another ElRazur Beat [part 4] **Free Download** by bouzymill(m): 3:07am On Mar 13, 2010 |
ElRazur: Thanx for the comments and I fully understand the reptition point. three things I believe always stuck me to that are 1. I like to preserve the traditional sampling technique (no instruments that's not in the sample itself) just the drums and samples. Not the kind of Just Blaze style of sampling (See Damu The Fudgemunk) 2. I have a kind rhyme style in my mind which usually tends towards the old new york cypher session where what they need is to have basic beat looping in assistance to their freestlyes 3. I'm just back pack producer who's obsessed with sampling and will not want to touch its soulful nature. lol but overall, i know that if i want to make something sellable and commercial, more works need to be done on the beats before rendering. Am just playing around with these. thanx And about the equipments I use. Am not as rich as you are, So, I'm minimalistic in my equipment approach. Depending on the beat, I choose between three wave editors to bring out my samples (Cool Edit Pro, Audacity or Edison). I chop my samples in Fl Studio or Native Instrument Battery. Work with my drums in FL Studio and external plugins. then, the only hardware I have that I've just purchased is an MPD 24 which i use to trigger my samples since my fingers have turn to something else through sampling. So, those are the recipes for my style of beatmaking and It works just fine for me. OnE |

Rap Battles / Re: Ruggedman's Message To You Know Who by bouzymill(m): 4:55am On Mar 12, 2010 |
Is this not amazing?? 5-6 years ago on this same Nairaland, 70% was always against Modenine!!!! Now it's a different ball game. Only 2% of the posts above mine is in support of Ruggedman. That is what you get when you keep putting yourself to relevant situations, Even if you call it "CRAP", Mode keeps bringing out materials. But RuggedMan keeps shouting about "Money". I don't even know the money he's talking about today. Is "Ruggedy Baba" or "Thy Album Come" still selling? abi, the money dey come from some other illegal entrepreneural endeavours. anywayz, the whole beef thing is becoming a cat and dog issue. eldee: Ture Talk Man!!!! But you surprise me shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, lol |
Music/Radio / Re: Another ElRazur Beat [part 4] **Free Download** by bouzymill(m): 9:37pm On Mar 10, 2010 |
Krayola: Sup brah! thanx for the pleasant comments. Well, Making my beats soulful always give me the joy of making beats, so most of my beats are soulful. But I always learn from Dj Premier's style of sampling which has "bump" and still preserved the soulness of the beat. I do have few and thank God, we're still making beats. ofokaofoki:Yeah!! I'ld upload one after the other, am sorry it is taking time already. |
Music/Radio / Re: Another ElRazur Beat [part 4] **Free Download** by bouzymill(m): 4:26pm On Mar 10, 2010 |
ofokaofoki: lol. I'm quite familiar with your tutorials on Nairaland. the issue with me not showing up as a beatmaker is cos I believe people don't really understand the concept of sampling and once you upload a beat and it's not sounding Timbalandish, Don Jazzish or I.D Cabasaish, they believe its crap and I can count the number of real headz here. So, I just feel it's a waste of time and all. Got so many beats I'ld try and upload some later, Thanx Man. |
