The fact that Boko haram is still existing means that the govt doesn't want to end it yet. I'm a supporter of GEJ but let's face facts. Its one thing to bomb but another thing to claim territory. We have the airforce that can bombard them. How come they always escape? If we say there are moles in the military hierachy, or the presidency, then they should have been detected by now cos its been months if not it means we are in deeper problems than we know if he hasn't fished out these moles. So I believe it is politics and at the end the northerners will be the only losers, so they should keep their house in order and call their brothers to order. They know these men and they can still control them. The sultan shouldn't just condemn them, he should direct the governors and emirs since he is the islamic leader in the country. |
Nice topic and contributions. I have a question. I sit possible for individuals, coperate organisations, NGOs and so on to sponsor a bill or is it just the president and the legislators that can do that? |
This is the kind of time when I support those that say that this man should be rotting in jail. Imagine how he is rubbing the fact that he failed woefully on our faces. Talking about privatising to friends, was he not the one that grounded Ibeto cement so that Dangote could sell? Was it not in his time that Mike Adenuga went on exile that's after begging him to give him license to start Glo but he refused and instead gave to SA company? After 8 good years with the kind of influence and personal connection he had he couldn't do half of what the current president has achieved in the power sector. I won't blame him, its the so called human right activists that couldn't sue this wife beater to court. And yet. Some political stakeholders went to meet him to be their "navigator". |
All of a sudden APC now have the mind to threaten impeachment just because of a stolen mandate. This arrogance and insolence is the main reason why GEJ will draw the battle line against Tambuwal. I hope he is ready to fight. But its really surprising how as soon as Tambuwal defected, he started his media blackmail, its as if that's the motto of the party to use blackmail and insults to belittle the man but the funny thing is the man has really gone through a lot of fight from the opposition and so far so good for him. And for those that call him clueless, go to Bayelsa state and ask about the "Ogbia" people in the state, that's when you know that they are a hard hearted people. |
I doubt if this Boko haram campaign strategy is still potent now for APC. Though its a very good campaign point but people are beginning to ask the right questions. I really pity the dead and most especially the displaced indegenes of these states but these boko haram men are human beings like us and someone somewhere is sponsoring them and except we start asking the right questions they will continue killing.I don't see how this will greatly affect GEJ negatively during the election rather he will bring in self pity and sweep votes. We should be wise and stop these childish insults here. |
Why all these dust about Buhari? The man hasn't been given the APC flag but we are all assuming that he already is their flag bearer, what happened to the free and fair primaries they promised. Personally, I don't see Buhari becoming the president of Nigeria in his lifetime. But he can try afterall he is a Nigerian. I still keep my stand, APC isn't different from PDP. |
E no go better for person wey photoshop Shina Petrs put for that clarence picture. #verybadjob |
I reserve my comment until kwankwaso comes out to deny this report or abuse GEJ again. But Sanusi's case should teach us here in nairaland that there are power brokers in Nigeria and they can decide to quarel and settle whenever they want. We don't know what actually goes on between these people, the media houses must have news that's why they can go to any lenght to say anything. Leadership newspaper can't say anything bad about sam Nda ISaiah just like the sun can't anything bad about Orji Uzor kalu. Let's stop the insults on nairaland. Finally, PDP may be bad but APC isn't a better option and as such we should support based on individual powers and keep in mind the supporters of those that we want. You should think of people like sheriff when supporting GEJ just like you should think of Tinubu and Nyako when supporting Buahri. |
The man said the truth simple. But he can't be sure about GEJ not winning. He has his reasons for saying that, but he should know that Nigerians or southerners are tired of Northern rule and GEJ will rather give up power to the East or middle belt than to give it back to the north. He should ask his father for some political advice. As for Amaechi, I'm not surprised he said GEJ isn't his brother. He has never been family oriented and moreover we choose who our brothers are, so if he says GEJ isn't his brother, we should let him be. My village shares a common boundary with Amaechi's village but I still say Amaechi isn't my brother. |
I don't support violence and threat to people's lives but each time any of these ex militants is mentioned everyone cries Jonathan. Go and get details about Tompolo, the man was already rich before GEJ, and even if Yar adua or OBJ was still there, he would have still made the threat cos that's the only language they know. And moreover in Nigerian politics, we use any weapon that's at our disposal, if GEJ keeps using these men then it means its working for him. In the west we have OPC while in the North we have ACF, Sharia and Boko haram, yet these same militants from the south are crying in their own way for what they believe and yet we hate them. If you ever live in the creeks, you will know how loved these people are, and they always care for their families. So whenever militants are mentioned, some people shouldn't always use it to score political points by mentioning GEJ. Whether he is good or not, GEJ is going to win the coming election, I don't see it happening any other way, anyone who thinks otherwise is living under illusions cos Nigeria isn't America and we still have our religious and ethnic differences which are the major fatcors that determine elections not nairaland and twitter and FOI. Keyamo did the right thing by petitioning the IGP and I hope the IGP will take necessary measures to settle things cos this may lead to a serious ethnic trouble. Moreover Keyamo accpeted that he and Tompolo are acquintances. |
Congrats @OP for your new citizenship. But the reason why there are so many criticisms here is not because you made progress and they are hating, but cos it seems you deliberately waited till now to rub it on their faces and knowing Nigerians no mattter how stupid you claim we are, we always try to defend ourselves. All in all, you made some good points. These have always been our problems in Africa especially Nigeria. We are too conservative yet we want to be liberal. Tim Cook just came out to say he's gay but I expect Nigerians to stop using iphones since we have banned being gay. Not to get me wrong, I'm not gay at all and infact I don't see the sense in it but I'm talking about the hypocrisy where we want to be like America overnight but don't want to take the necessary steps. We want to move from 0 to 10 without going tru the other numbers that make them up. If we want to move forward then we must stop our "religious and ethnic bigotry". If we settle these two problems, then Nigeria will definitely move forward. We are hard working people and all we need is a level playing ground where you can go and invest at kano without fear. Imagine Ghana mapping out a particular part for Nigerian traders different from the normal market cos the Ghanians don't want us and we claim we are brothers. Anyway, I believe in "luck at home". Not that having what you have isn't good but this country has potentials and I intend tapping it from here. |
All I can see here is an indirect denial of what Amaechi said. So its still a win for the presidency. She was only telling the president that he doesn't have a case in court cos they didn't mention names directly there but in common sense we all know who he was referring to. When others are saying, vote out PDP, amaechi is saying vote out GEJ, so its personal. But it is also a little victory for amaechi cos for some time the presidency hasn't dignified him with any response but they finally did but the only clause in the victory is that the president has never talked about amaechi's case by himself. It is always through someone, which frustrates the guy cos it belittles him. If the commissioner is saying they were not referring to the president then why did amaechi claim to show him that he doesn't just exist in billboards cos we know that's what GEJ said at benin. Amaechi even referred to "those going to jerusalem". But anyway she has denied it. I thought the reply would have been like daring the president to do his worse but they didn't. Seminitari should follow her father's style of politics, he didn't incur enemies in the state, she may have money but she's still very young and if she really wants to go far in politics, she has to calm down. |
I have questions please. 1. If Amaechi is your mentor does it automatically mean whoever he chooses whether good or bad becomes your choice? Cos he isn't running for governor again.. 2. are you aware that more than half of the crowd there won't vote during the elections cos of illegibility to vote and other reasons that's excluding the fact that some of them aren't even from the state. 3. Are you aware that thesame day at the airport too, dumo lulu briggs pulled a lot of crowd? 4. Are you aware that the previous day, nyesom blocked PH cos of the crowd that came to welcome him? 5. Are you aware that our 19billion has gone sown the drain? 6. Are you aware that he was just showing buhari that he can pull crowd so that he will be chosen for running mate? 7. Are you aware that Abe was praising Nyesom Wike that day? 8. Are you aware that your national leader doesn't know amaechi's name? |
I don't understand why everyone is already calling Buhari the flagbearer. What about the primaries? What about Atiku? Do they want to go by concensus candidate "just like PDP"? Anyway we shall see by february. |
When I heard this, that was when I knew that they do not have any meaningful plans for amaechi. And they saw what happened today, While a whole governor of a state is having his rally an ordinary Dumo Lulu Briggs gathered so much crowd that came to welcome him at the airport. Part of the crowd there today were brought from Imo state with Rochas, the crowd yesterday at Wike's welcomeing was as large as this too. There were even northerners there too who came for sightseeing. Even one of the contenders for the governorship ticket in the state, Abe, was praising Wike when he said "those that organized 2011 elections did a very good job". Amaechi needs to restrategize if he is to win Rivers State. So he should stop his obsession with the president and concentrate on his job. They have finished sharing our 19billion. |
Neuroscience- neurophysiolgy, neuroanatomy and neuropharmacology all in one. Different lecturers from 3 different departments. |
This is where our 19billion is going to. Well it is well, whatever happens, february next year will decide. I wish him goodluck and hope he is picked as a running mate after all the money he has spent. But please tell him that he shouldn't go about telling people that the reason why he hasn't paid salaries to some some civil servants that are working their ass out for him in the state is cos GEJ refused to give him enough money. And please I wll like you to ask him for me where our internal revenue money is going to. And please ask that what if GEJ wins in central and he wins in the state, did it solve the problem of our rivers people not getting what he promised? On the contrary it escalates it cos GEJ won't do what he wants except the next governor makes peace with him or GEJ's person wins. So he should stop all these charades and lies and deliver what he promised us. Thank you. Just an advice though. |
I have never read any very intelligent comment from Tony Okocha. First of all, he has just told us that APC or should I say Amaechi has single handedly handed his successor to the ogoni people by argueing that south east senatorial distrcit hasn't gotten a chance before to lead. So a smart person should know where they will ptich their tent except he spoke out of turn and ignorance. Talking about wike and the position of chief of staff in rivers state. It is a matter of interest, he knows where his interest is and he believes that going to ABJ would reduce his influence cos most of the time he won't be around the state and won't have time to shuttle abj and ph. Talking about income, the position of the chief of staff "in rivers state" pays more than being a junior minister. We know what he was able to do with GDI even as a minister, imagine what he would have done if he didn't have anything else taking his time. Whenever you want to down grade this man you ask yourself why amaechi made him his chief of staff and yet wasn't able to appoint a new chief of staff till wike left for abuja? And why did amaechi make him his DG for his re election campaign. He has his reason for saying what he said. He who wears the shoes knows where it bites him. |
The OP asked a simple question which a lot of people have been asking innocently, but I can see a lot of people politicizing it. Even if OBJ did it to share the money then it might be because a lot of People from different states were asking for it. It is the job of the national assembly to consider it and scrap it if there is no use for it. So if there are any grievances then it should be addressed to the national assembly but of course a lot of you here don't even know who your councillors are not to talk of knowing where your constituency office is. Don't worry very soon nairaland will have constituency offices as usual where you can rant and speak English and think it matters in the real world of politics. And those that are trying to bring GEJ in this should know that OBJ started it and this same OBJ is playing with our supposed saviors that want to bring change. |
Anyone who believes this political gimmick doesn't know politics or doesn't know amaechi at all. When he took 30billion what did he use it for? How many months does he have left to complete these projects? He continues paying judiciary workers salaries even though they are on strike yet civil servants are working but not paid. What about our internal revenue? What did he use them for? He presented the proposal that same day and it was approved the same day, why? Cos he will share the money with them. He knows 2015 isn't certain for him and so he wants to loot enough before leaving. He said the money is for project completion but he is using it to pay salaries and sponsor crowd for his rally on saturday. |
pendy79:Wild imagination, very wild imagination. Let's keep our fingers crossed and see what happens in february. |
The day I read about this all I could think of was " I had no shoes, if I can do it then you can" and he won the 2011 election. Buhari wants to appear like a less privileged person too so as to appear on thesame level with commoners. I know men of integrity that would rather sell their property than borrow. His bullet proof cars are worth more than 27million. Looking at it from another angle, shouldn't we be scared? The banks that gave him this loan will surely want something in return, let's face facts, banks are not charity organisations especially when the man can't give them 100percent assurance of winning. The OP raised a very good question, in a developed society where political debate matter, this point alone floors the General. But as usual in nairaland, when someone makes a point that favors pdp they are called tanoid and when it favors apc they are called supporters of APC and hired people. We are deceiving ourselves, elections are not won here or even by the youths if not there won't be anything like the kingmakers or the stakeholders or godfathers. |
The immigration saga was a very big tragedy and I knew that nothing will be done about it. The minister takes the larger chunk of the blame for not envisaging something like this would happen and when it did, the least he would have done was to device an emergency plan to make things go well even if it means cancelling it and putting another time table for the examination. That being said, 99percent of the applicants were graduates which means they could read atleast. When you were even paying for the registration and saw the crowd in only one branch off a bank, that should have given you a red flag, when you got there and saw the crowd, the best would have been to go back cos in PH alone we had more than the number required for all of the positions in the country. And knowing Federal civil service, they must share it among the states. I know the condiion of things in this country but that doesn't mean we shouldn't use our senses. I think the youths right now is the cause of our problem here and no longer our elders. How can an enlightened man allow himself to be used by a politician all in the name of "conditions are hard". We don't ask the right questions. The first question a youth asks his friend now is, are you ApC or PDP? We should be wise. |
Well as a Rivers State indegene, the major thing that picked my interest was the tactical way my governor used to inform us that if we are ever looking for our 1.4billion, that he used it to stop ebola. Knowing how prices are inflated in this country and knowing how bad the ebola virus was, it means I can boldly say fashola spent over 5billion naira to stop ebola. But as usual, the average nairalander will not ask these questions, all they can only do is to abuse each other here. Anyway, we in Rivers state know that ebola was blown out of proportion in the state just for personal gain. I pity this country. |
Most of the amendments here if not all borders on their own personal gain. I tire for our Legislature. The pattern of voting in legislators should be changed so that an average common man can have confidence in them and they should also amend that whenever a house member isn't functioning well, he or she should be recalled back by his constituency and the position given to another person. I like the sole candidacy bill and the local govt. N/B: the national conference report shouldn't be negotiable, if they really have the interest of the people at heart, they should make it their number one priority. |
The problem with us in this country is that we concentrate in politics to the extent that we forget to go out there and hustle to make a difference in the society. But Nigerians are one of the smartest people in the world. Just look at how wild this man's imaginations are and how bold he is and pioneered by non other than our online self acclaimed "anti corruption fighters" the "SaharaReporters". Well he tried but the problem is that his estimates are based on "assumptions" that's all. He couldn't even get the president's basic salary right with a fact, everything he wrote was based on let's assume. And he was even trying to be lenient. Anyway I won't say he is lieing but when commenting on a national issue, I think you should come out with facts rather than these "wild imaginations". Anyway since saharareporters is involved, I'm not surprised. But I pity any Nigerian who will believe this, not that GEJ isn't worth it or not but for the fact that these are just assumptions. |
This news doesn't come as a surprise to me cos of some reasons. 1. Every politician in history has betrayed someone that's why politics is a game of interest. 2. I knew that when ojukwu died, APGA died with him. He was the only pillar of the party. Talking about betrayal, we know that APGA has been working closely with PDP since they were registered and such a governor or former governor defecting to PDP from APGA is expected. So if we can still call them betrayers, what will we call the governor that was elected under APGA and less than 3years after being elected, he spearheaded the creation of a new party and defected to that party which is not PDP but the main opposition party in the country? Then he should be crucified for betraying ndi igbo too. But that should also have been expected, afterall this is politics. So I don't see any reason for the fuse. |
Chai, Aboki na Aboki. This made me wonder what the likes of El Rufai, Atiku, Dangote would have been if they didn't go to school. Anyway I can see he loves his cows. Good for him. |
Jay Z has got the pedigree and he is a legend but Ricky just started. But to me I may likely go for Jay if it was left to just normal words rather than vulgar words cos jay doesn't really do that but with the proper quantity of weed, ricky will outshine him. Though picturing both of them in a rapbattle, I think it will be a form of insult on jay. |
Wizkid here and wizkid there. This is his low time and he is taking it well. But he will surely bounce back. Everyone experiences these kind of bad periods but it will only get better. And I don't know why some people expect so much from other people. Human beings can't be trusted not that its always their fault but expecting much from people always lead to these kinda stuffs. |
Truth is I don't mind if he doesn't pay tax cos if churches start paying tax then the mosques will start paying too and I don't see that happening at all. But his reason for not wanting to pay tax makes me wonder if he thought about the answer before he said it. There are many businesses that don't even use govt electricity at all not to talk of water and and other amenities. So they should stop paying tax too. Anyway, I believe he might be frustrated with govt and that's why he talked like that. But funny enough there are Nigerians that will rather die than accept that he went wrong with this answer. They are too scared to even think about it yet they are not scared of the hypocrisy Jesus Christ spoke about while on earth. It goes a long way to show that we worship these men and not God. |
This man is still talking. He is still in pain over his impeachment. All of a sudden, no more governors forum meetings and other incentives. Lol, politics. |
