Mrlola:
Are a learner? You seem not to understand how traumatic this can be for a man. I am not surprised you're asking the obvious!
Are you saying it isn't traumatic for a woman when a man has children outside his marriage, while married?

This is caused by a husband who isn't submissive and loving, understanding, to his wife. There must be something he's doing in their home that she's told him about but he won't change, and you know that all women value is peace in marriage. He must've used his bad temper or nagging to push her into the arms of another man who gives her true peace. Most men are something else.

Solution:

They actually need to pray and reconcile in the presence of the priest who married them or their families. They should invite the real father to have a part to play in the girls life. If the husband doesn't agree, she must find a way to get rid of him, because a contentious husband is worse than poison. Or the elders should find a way to give the real father the daughter and be paying him support.

He should get used to the reality. Women are polyandrous by nature. If he cannot accept it, he should be ready to lose his wife to the arms of a more loving man probably with a much juicier D**k.

Lets her other side of the story for the paternity fraud huh Cheating is not the only issue here but deceiving the man to believe that the child is hers is a fraud with no justification
And where is the real father of the girl hiding and calling women who run paternity frauds devils? While he's romancing and sleeping with the world, his daughter is placed on another man.

Men are their own worst enemy.

Sad. He should have handled it within the home, this is not the kind of issue you throw on social media. Is he going to divorce his wife or what?
Lol.

This is really a family matter. He should've called the elders and they all reconcile or decide on how the girl will stop calling him, "Daddy".

Plus the people haven't seen him, neither do they know that they are saying. See someone telling him about "pox".

What if in a bid to avoid doctors he takes any of the suggestions here and has a reaction to it or takes something wrong? It wouldn't be worth it.

He should see either a pharmacist or a doctor.

It's a shame honestly....

The level of quackery in this nation is mind-blowing!!!
But how can a person care less for himself to this extent, seeking advice from people who could be vulcanizers, bankers, engineers, masseuses, architects, programmers, car wash attendants, etc, when a good hospital is closer and more accurate?

That is truly the mind-blowing thing.

Magnoliaa:
But why will their answers be the same? When no two person is the same? This would be a very nice research to carry out sha. With a bigger population, not a few women from one socioeconomic state. Oh. And the background will be extremely important here... we need to specify the kind of single mothers, because if we choose any single mother who is a single mother for just any reason, especially for a bad decision she made (or the death of her husband for instance), we might get a skewed conclusion.

So based on the premise of this thread, the kind of single mothers that should be interviewed should be single mothers who became single mothers not of their own doings. As in, yunno, a single mother from a one night stand is different from a single mother who left an emotionally abusive and cheating man... Ehen. So the framework of the research should be the happiness level of: married women with cheating partners vs. single mothers who left a cheating partner. My own judgment (bias), I'll say here, tilt towards the latter being high. I'll bet those kind of single mothers, who left a cheating partner, NOT BECAUSE OF A PERSONAL MISTAKE, would experience much more relative freedom and from STDs, and peace of mind and everything.

And these single mothers sample must also include single moms of the upper and middle class. Ehen. Make e for balance. So you won't interview girls that stay in Amuwo-Odofin and say they are representative of an high class single mom that stays in VGC. We'll study both single moms who went on to get a degree and relocated overseas to the ones who couldn't and ended up opening a kiosk - both of them after they left their cheating husbands. My point is, for the unhappiness you'll record in both categories of single mothers, how much of it is caused by money, lack of access to opportunities, low education, etc? So it won't be enough to conclude they are unhappy SIMPLY because of single motherhood. (We may also look at their belief system and personal ideologies and how this shapes their concept of happiness). And then, the reference group is women married to cheating partners, right? We'll study them too and see if the (financial) struggles they face are much less biting than if they were alone. Asin, what financial/moral/mental support do they get from their hubbies that they can't get alone? Are there any recognizable differences between the earning power/financial worth/self-esteem of a single mom struggling alone after she left a philandering husband and the earning power/financial worth (or self-worth) of a married {single} mom staying with a philandering husband?

I cum in piss. I'm not disagreeing with or arguing with you o. I'm just lending my chikini knowledge to the angle you're coming from, yunno, taking it higher by suggesting a more refined way of enquiry ((a systematic) research) than a guess work. Filled with the usual human biases.

Mic drop.

Low esteem on naija men are you kidding ... do those men in BBhouse portray low esteem.
i think naija gurls are tew focus on what they stand to gain that they bearly try to understand the men.
If we say we want an intelligent woman, we meant the ones that will come into our lives to compliment us not creat some rivalry shit.
if a babe drop ideas that will upscale her man prospective ideas why would he reject them ... buh a typical naija intelligent woman won't build on her man's idea most times she brings ideas that will overwrite the man's plans.
I don't watch it, but they sound like the usual arrogant sex addict types. Without access to money, what do they have to offer any woman? Finishing condoms, bullying themselves and flogging themselves?

You don't want intelligent women, that's why you see it as rivalry. Which is exactly what was being said.

Why must her ideas upscale the man? Most Nigerian men are just looking for a woman they can stand on who will build them while they give nothing in return except judgement. What happened to a man developing himself instead of looking for a woman who isn't his mother to do that? What sort of liability is that? Let men build themselves to the point where they can be in a relationship, financially and character wise.

Way too many unrealistic expectations for women. Nigerian men don't even try to understand women, yet they expect to be understood.

This thread has exposed them.

Hmmnn.

Might not be a proposal but someone who claimed he wanted a relationship with me cause he wants to marry me said something when we were getting to know each other. This is what he said that made me turn back and face my father's house, "I am sorry to say this, but a man is not complete without a male child".

Since I knew that I didn't have a store house for male children nor did I have a guarantee of bearing him a son, I told him I wasn't interested in the relationship or marriage.

To my surprise, dude insisted on knowing why I turned him down after some months, I told him his comment about male children put me off. He tried to convince me he didn't mean it the way I saw it but I just wasn't convinced.
You mean to tell nairaland males that it had nothing to do with money or another guy who was having you behind his back, or the fact that he was not tall, dark and handsome with an oily tongue?

I don't think you read to comprehend. 48k per month in 2007, when naira dollar rate was still okay, was a sizeable amount. So they were quite comfortable and could afford 4 kids if they wanted. They don't pay rent or bills and didn't have much budget. The kids didn't come at once and what would a 16 yr old mother know about family planning then?. Then he got promoted and started earning 60k and life was going smoothly and would have continued that way before the sad fate. The major problem I see here is the diversion of funds to her husband's family because if that was in place there would have been no issue. The man didn't put his home in order before his demise and not because he had 4 kids.
Thank you for your last sentence. That is what most people reading don't understand. It isn't about having many children.

Most of the people commenting probably come from large Nigerian families of more than 2 kids, but it's in vogue to condemn having children nowadays.

I don't know where in this country, with the current situation of things economically, a salary of that amount would be considered enough for a family of five. The kids' school fees are there to pay, feeding, home bills and other miscellaneous expenses are there to cover.

Those factors are too important to consider before deciding to have not 1, 2, 3 but 4 kids. I am not saying they are wicked for doing that, they just didn't make the right plan. This is not a case of their plan hatching up exactly the way they wanted, it is about making the right plan for the future.

While she can come out of this alive with her kids later on getting good lives, it is still not advisable to reproduce in large number without considering your financial status. This is one of the reasons child abuse is prevalent today.
That's why I said, what if their plan was to work with what they had and grow it, and unfortunately her husband died while it was in the pipeline? Not everyone who is married was made before they got married and had children. Different people have different timelines in life for such things. That's the reality for people. We need to learn to put ourselves in their shoes and forget what we think is right and normal.

That salary is enough for certain people in different parts of the country. She never said she lives in a high brow area and eats catfish everyday, and sends her children to the most expensive schools. For her family, his salary was manageable, they were able to get along. They wouldn't be the first people to be surviving on such a salary in present day Nigeria. Forget about your living expenses as a yardstick. People have different lives.

There is no amount of planning that will change a misfortune that can happen in a day when it wants to happen. Even 20 years of well laid plans can be brought to ruin by one event in just one afternoon.

There are people who planned their lives, had only 2 kids, sent their kids to the best schools, and today they are running around like they never knew better. Planning isn't bad, but it is not the alpha and Omega of how things play out.

Whether they have 6 or 10 children is inconsequential. Disaster can change that in at a moment. It seems that's what happened to her.

Even a person who lives under the bridge has plans for their life. But others who aren't in that position will feel they are stupid and lazy. There's more to life than that. This thread shows there are a lot of inexperienced young people who think they know and are wise.

Time will tell.
