Its sad you are taking it to the extreme when you have not verify the source of your information.
Don;t go to war because of your house full arsenals. You will finally discover after the war there was no need for it in the first place.

sometime I visit a national site and I'm honestly sorry to be a Nigerian they compromise design for functionality in almost all these sites the sites are always shabbily done or I'm I d only one seeing things like that?
Personally,i would say its too harsh to regret being a Nigerian because certain things are not done well.
In the are of IT and web development/design Nigeria is just coming up.Most designers have not actually got the proper trainings and most design tools are very expensive for a typical naija hustler.
Coming to terms, how Nigerians spend time on the internet searching for information(very fews),except those chatting in Yahoo and Msn.I remember in 2001 GSM network was only available in Lagos and some fews cities,But today its every nook and crannies.
Until the internet usage is high then you start seen competition and improvement in the trade.Lets give them some time to brace up.

i have been doing a lot of studying and research.

i came to a sudden realization that a website is a product.

i have been approaching it as smthing else.

designing it in an approach akin to that used in industrial design

will definitely bring out the best.

More studying to be done as i zoom off >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> grin
Hmmm,in business a product could be a good or service offer to the market. As it is also in marketing,a product is anything(goods or services) offered to market for the satisfaction of consumer wants at a profit. Thus,a website is a product offered by a designer to her clients/customers as a good. Also it is a services offered by the owner of the website as a market place for consummating transactions(e-commerce) or as a tools for advertising and communication.

@damsy07, look i am very surprise that we still have ppeople like you who believe abroad is better than naija, i have been to over 15 countries in the course of my working for one of the biggest oil companies in the world operating in naija i have met friends who left naija early enough as at when we graduated in 2000,but the question now what are they doing abroad?i am 100% comfortable here at home, i might not be rich but atleast i don't have to wash dead bodies, sweep, clean glasses or even arrange fake marriages all in the name of stabilizing, yes they all went abroad before me but they are either just in one country and never moved,i am home and have gone way far ahead i cried when i met a medical doctor who clean shoe abroad, haba health system in naija might be bad but i tell you if that guy happen to be in naija by now i am sure one these might must have loan him to set up a clinic, naija is improving it might not be the best yet but we will get there,go and read what GABY said,he actually said it all and let me ask a question if abroad is betetr why do i still go abroad and spend so much for my friends that has been there for years, they even envy me and i still wonder whyhuh
Carnal, this is the most despicable idea i have ever heard of a man who profess to have travelled far and wide and working with a multinational oil firm, above all educated with a university degree. It depict the type of product coming out of the decay Nigeria university system.
The topic of the thread is "Is life really better abroad ?".In your widely travel, its still difficult for you to see the difference.Thank God you work in an Oil firm that can afford to pay your lavishly, but you cannot see the reason why Nigeria public school children are at home for about 4 weeks.
You cannot see the reason why FRSC is discouraging people from Night travel.Tell exactly where you are Nigerian cleaning shoes?FYI every worker in the western country take dignity in doing their various jobs from the street cleaners to the CEOs.
Personally i am patriotic Nigerian but i hate situations people using their privileged position to down grade other,Achebe said"those who;s kernel have been crack for them by benevolent spirit should not forget to be humble".

@kemmy100

I quite understand your point, but Life is better abroad but not guaranteed for illegals.

Such a refusal stamp is an outdated practice and its totally wrong on the part of the embassy to give such a "mark" on the passport without a short reason for such a refusal.Such an applicant will be left to a tale of explanation to other consulate they go to.Legally, you can sue the embassy for such a mark on the passport when they equally give you a refusal letter(i don;t see a fair reason for such a stamp).Getting a new passport is waste of fund and the government resources.

How come you don't have anything to say about the fact that the man makes excuses for helping his in-laws but not this friend that makes him run around like a goat?
Radiant,I am sure you will not like your husband to be compared with such a figurative.
I purposely left that area because the poster should know why her husband is exhibiting such behaviour to her family.I am sure there is something he don;t like about your family members behaviour. With effective communication your husband will give the reasons. If he can do so much for his friend,he could do more for your family.Don;t forget that an overbearing situation(s) can change a man;s behaviour.

@Poster,show more love and affections to your husband and you will get 99.9% of the content of his heart.
FamilyRe: My Husband's Friend Want To Ruin My Home by brownbonno(m): 8:55am On Jul 12, 2008
Afribiz,

I will sincerely tell to please allow your husband to live life the way he wish to.There a lot of people like him who care much about people and is ever ready to help friends.Your husband is a special person that is not jealous of his friends, not greedy and ready to sacrifice for other people.Don;t be suprise of Gods blesses to his life and business.Even though things might be rough at the moment,he will get to his right place.
I don;t want to give you stories similar to your husband case, but i can only assure you your husband is going to live above his present situation.
Every body may assume him to be a fool or being used, time will tell who is using who.

EPOMA:
I am trying to understand how we Judge our governments and the facts that we use. I must say Yar'Dua Government is far better than OBJ. The problems that this present Government is facing now is as a result of Obj. In Electricity Obj spend a lot and nothing to show, built new gas turbine while selling all the gas to Italian and British Firms. Now nobody want to buy Nepa in this state.
There have been reduced Political Abuses like Ngige ,Ige and the killing of Harry Marshall that OBJ had hands in.Now all tribunal are fair to an extend in their decisions. For people who did not know Obj ruined Nigeria i various sector like selling refineries and ajaokuta for peanut, all that have been reversed. The giving away of Bakassi( Israel had over 46 UN resolution to give back land to the Palestinian since the 60's but has not but OBJ did in under 3 years). Most Governors now are doing far more a lot than Obj, in his time as long as you are for him like Odili, you can steal kill and get away with it, thank God for the truth committee sitting in river state.
I cannot say much but OBJ is damned for Life and he knows
I have been reluctant to contribute to this thread, but let ask Epoma. Why do we need a government.I am sure is to provide solutions to the problems of the citizens. If there is a problem caused by OBJ is not and should not be an excuse for this present administration sleepy attitude.
Power sector-There is a huge investment in this area(although there is also corruption )and a lot of the import equipments are decaying at the seaport of Lagos. The sector is worst than the way OBJ left it.
Transportation-What has Yar Dua done with the Nigeria road network since he came into power?
Private Sector involvement-The purpose of selling off investment to public  investor is just to make profit but to help the government to manage the companies, create employment, create wealth and generate tax to the government.
EFCC-Mrs Waziri has started spelling out the script of the corrupt politicians, she has deploy and redeploy officers from EFCC to Police subdivisions and all principal investigators has been transfered. Now,where is the continuity in service for career service officers.
Politics has become a business for a sect of people, read about saraki and the Societe Generale bank.
Tell me one tangible thing Yar Adua has done to put smile on the faces of Nigerians.I am sure he is working on repositioning the nation in the hands of the northern oligarchy.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria; A Country Of Doom! by brownbonno(m): 5:09pm On Jul 06, 2008
The problem with Nigerians is that we are always in a rush to go where ever we are going.I have several experience with the Police and i give them all the time in the world to fool themselves.
Why do you need to carry the receipt of your Laptop?Receipt issue make laugh.I was stop by the police some years ago,he requested for the Car particulars,i gave him and step out with my satellite phone to make a call(I was in GSM no service area). He looked at me and to his colleague yahoo boy.
After 10min he came back for interrogations
Police-Who is the owner of this car
Me-My wife
Police-Where did you/your wife buy car ?
Me-Lagos
Police-This car paper show the car was imported
Me-Yes,we don;t make this type of car in Nigeria,so it was imported through Lagos Port.
Police-You lied, you said you bought it in Lagos.
Police-Where is your wife
me-She is in Lagos
Police-We will want to see here
Me-OK,fine
Police-Lets go to station
The second police officer excused to a corner and ask me to settle to avoid big problem.
I told him i don;t give bribe.
After about 45 min without going to the station.
The Police came back to me an request for the receipt of the car-I bust into laughter.
I said i don;t have receipt for this car sorry.he said this is the biggest offence.I said OK lets go to the station and charge me.
I decided to have a big mouth and spoil their day collections.later the officer in charge came to me and said i should go and forget about the matter.I finally leave there without dropping anything for them and spoil there day.
TravelRe: The Hell Of Being An Asylum Seeker by brownbonno(m): 4:34pm On Jul 06, 2008
@ Akolawole
You talk about genuine asylum seekers, most people will certainly fall within the definition "membership of a particular social group" in relation to the UN definition of refugee-
owing to well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable, or owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country; or who, not having a nationality and being outside the country of his former habitual residence as a result of such events, is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to it.

This remind me of actions during my UNI days of the "Babagida must go" era.Students where planing to hit the USA and the UK embassies in thousands to seek for asylum.Reason-Torture and hardship the government have inflicted on her citizens.Lol
