Nope, sorry, but hiphop came a bit late for me or I wasn't paying much attention. I like philosophy in my entertainment which is why the likes of Fela, Obey, Victor Uwaifo, Bob Marley and Ogunde are more my preference and probably why I have the attitude I have to Tate who has absolutely nothing worthy to offer if you asked me.

But hey, you must live. And living sometimes involves being led down dark alleys where magas mug you till you learn the correct path to trod and whom you let influence you.

Whoever read the novel should please summarize in two sentences.
For once, I'm going to have to agree. Imagine claiming Islamisation started with Aregbesola who couldn't even Islamise my Osun State.

Tinubu himself said "I Can’t Islamise Nigeria If I Couldn’t Islamise My Home", and if op was not born tomorrow, he'd know IBB failed as did Usman Dan Fodio.

Anyone who thinks non-Muslims will abandon their faith and become Muslims does not know how impossible it is to take Ogun and Sango and Sopona and Yahweh away from its worshippers and replace it with Allah.

I therefore call falling sky on this thread.

The youths are not even ready to redeem their selves, talk more of coming together.
It is not going to be easy. Fela would say, "if dem want to knack your head na from back", and heads are being knacked from back through the miseducation of our youths by schools being ill-funded so we don't learn to reason properly or work together in teams.

We are however very fortunate that we can come here to the Nairaland University to learn from one another, though one must admit we all seem to all be teachers instead of students.

But the future is bright. This generations' time will soon pass and we will become worm food, and future generations will arrive here and read what this generation said and critique the stupidity and applaud the sense and learn to do better than we are currently doing or not doing.

budaatum:
If nothing else, those desperate politicians will die and you will become the politician, and I trust you'd not do what the dead desperate politicians do. But if you do do what the dead desperate politicians do, you too would eventually die and your better brought up children will take over and not do what you or the dead desperate politicians before you did. And if your children are desperate like them and you, they too will die and your better brought up grandchildren will not be desperate like you or your children or those politicians. And if your grandchildren are like you or the dead desperate politicians before you or their parents, they too will die and your much better brought up great grandchildren might not be so desperate.

I have faith in you you see, and in your children if you disappoint, and in your grandchildren if you and your children disappoint, and in your great grandchildren if you and your children and your grandchildren disappoint, and in your great great grandchildren if you and your children and your grandchildren and your great grandchildren all disappoint.

A Nigeria we can be proud of is like Rome which was not built in a day but over centuries and generations. And you and your descendants don't even need to be politicians at all, just better educated electorate to elect non-desperate politicians.

My faith in you and your future descendants can not ever be quenched.

You even think Emefiele’s arrest is a skit but you want sensible Nigerians to join hands with you to defend Emefiele, right?
That is not what he said nor meant, and saying it is is how we divide ourselves through lack of understanding and the charity to even bother trying to.

He said "99% of buhari's appointees were stupendously corrupt", which should be a clue to understanding what you posted, and he's not calling youths together to defend Emefiele, but that proper due process should be followed, which does not seem to be the case here. If it were, Buhari would have been arrested too since he approved whatever Emefiele did.

After all, no one has to play a game they do not want to play unless they are forced to because they are slaves.

Indeed, an acceptance of our failure is the beginning of change, and while it may seem to you that one day will never come, this day came when someone, you, admitted we have failed, and that is a good enough start for me.

Next step is some who accept we have failed, joining together to resit and pass. And that day will one day come too.

Be informed that there are parishes in England that do not subscribe to same sex marriage, so it's hardly likely that the Church of England would attempt to impose on Nigeria what it still hasn't managed to impose on its own local congregations.

That said, thanks for this. I will use it as a example of moral subjectivity here.

Oga tell your self the truth Nigerians can't come together you know it's wishful thinking.
Yes we can, and one day will. Just that for now, our heads are stuck in the stupid ideology that if we were to say, "Come, Nigerian youth, let us come together to make bricks and fire them thoroughly, and let us build ourselves a Nigeria with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves", some LORD will come down to see the city and the tower, which we built and look at us and say, "Look, the Nigerian youth are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do; nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language there so that they will not understand one another’s speech."

We watch America, China, Russia, Europe, building towers to get to the moon and mars and no Lord is scattering them anywhere, and we will one day realise that we can too, once we abandon this stupid thinking that the Lords will scatter us if we dared.

If I were going to write this, it would be that you don't know how to find yourself a decent stand on her own feet woman and are blaming the woman for your inability.

She's not the only woman out there. Some women have enough money of their own, likely because they were brought up in homes where girls were not second hand citizens doomed to rely on being fed by a man but brought up to provide for themselves.

Get yourself one of those instead of complaining that the one you got is no good!

Politics › Re: It's Really Sad Nigerians Don't Believe In Court Processes by budaatum: 5:55pm On Jun 10, 2023
First you assume "That Nigerians Don't Believe In Court Processes", then you conclude that "simply means Nigeria is irredeemable", and you come to this conclusion by the little insight you get "more or less coming from nairaland and other online fora". Do you see how simplistically you've reasoned?

Have you considered that the Nigerians on "nairaland and other online fora" might have no knowledge or experience of Nigerian courts, and might be too young to know what they are talking about? After all, if Nigerians don't believe in the court process, do you think the likes of Nigerian Obi would be wasting their time trying to claim a mandate in court?

The judges are not scared of the threats you speak of, and the Nigerian courts, badly managed as they may seem to be, are not as bad as you've been misinformed they are, and Nigeria is not as irredeemable as you presume. But don't take my word for it. Get yourself charged to court for something, or charge someone to court for something so you'd next time be talking from personal experience and knowledge instead of what you get from "nairaland and other online fora" where anyone can just talk crap and hope to be believed.

Nothing informs better than personal experience.

I'm amazed that you can not see that the above is subjective.

No you don't love her. In fact, you don't know what love means.

If you loved her you wouldn't be parading her image and name on a public forum, and when she finds out you have she'd definitely most likely not consider you worth loving back in return.
Christianity Etc › Re: You cannot be an atheists and have objective morality. by budaatum: 3:42pm On Jun 10, 2023
Steep:
that was an error on my part , rather objective morality, objective morality does not depend on society or individual preference. For example rape is wrong regardless of whether society accept it or not, regardless of individual preference or not. It is wrong because it degrades because people are made in God's image.
Rape itself is subjective, as I've pointed out to you with my spousal rape example, which is not rape in Nigeria but is rape in some countries. Even non-spousal rape is very subjective. In some countries, having sex with a person who said 'no' or is incapable of consenting, is rape, while in some countries evidence of resisting is required. Its why there's much argument on guilt. If not, she'd say you raped her and you'd be guilty.

Subjects in a society define rape, and that makes it subjective.

Christianity Etc › Re: You cannot be an atheists and have objective morality. by budaatum: 2:56pm On Jun 10, 2023
Steep:
There is no such thing as your god here, I am talking of God as a real being.

If there is God then morality would not be subjective simple, trying to push a subjective view point into a world where there is God does not work, it is a contradiction.
If horses had wings too they might fly. Unfortunately they don't so we created airplanes instead.

You may assume you are "talking of a God as a real being" as much as you want, but it is rather obvious that you are talking of the god that you understand and accept and believe in and there's nothing real about it at all.

You are trying to make your subjective opinion and belief an objective irrefutable fact, is what you are doing, but you can't just create something in your subjective mind and expect intelligent rationale beings to accept your subject as an object without showing it to us so we can see it for ourselves. For that is like trying to sell us something without us seeing what we'd be buying, and some are just not gullible and stupid enough to hand money over on that basis.

Here is some education for your consideration.

Romance › Re: Do You Believe Marriage Is A Scam? by budaatum: 2:46pm On Jun 10, 2023
Only those who haven't experienced a home with a loving father and mother would claim marriage is a scam. If you'd watched your mother and father prepare a home for you where they both lovingly nurtured you into a successful being you wouldn't call marriage a scam.

Even before Islam and Christianity arrived, our foreparents married. No, they were not animals that jumped from partner to partner, but recognised themselves in a togetherness and reared their children together. If not, no one would have known who's child belong to whom.

Op, you likely haven't experienced the goodness of marriage so might think you are being scammed. I suggest you go look at the development of children who grew up in a relationship where both partners were maturely committed to one another instead of the "Many marriages have scattered, divorce here and here" between immature uncommitted people you seem to be considering here.

You marry so you can have children and bring them up with your partner in a loving conducive environment, and to have support as you travail the journey of living. But if you don't care about the welfare of your children and love going solo, then of course do not bother. Hopefully, you'd hate having children too and not have any so they are not so damaged to reason as you have here.

In a committed relationship of mutual respect and regard instead of the redpill version you have described here, her so called pkekus is only for you just as your diq would only be for her. But I guess you'd need to learn to respect yourself before you can respect a woman enough for that to be the case.

Good luck now, and please update us here as you grow and mature.

Health › Re: Why Is Exercise Important For Older People? by budaatum: 2:24pm On Jun 10, 2023
A business idea is arranging group exercise for the older persons. They can come 2-3 times a week for a fee. Male sessions separate from females, and a mixed class if there's demand. They can do yoga or other gentle exercises so no heavy equipment required. More expensive one on one sessions could be an option. Could be advertised at doctors who may be asked to refer their patients. Must be done by a qualified exercisist so damage is prevented.

I stole this idea from UK where church halls are used.
