RTID:Why not? If I want to waste my time and my money loan studying Religious and Cultural Studies what's that got to do with you? I can after all use my study to become an influential babalawo or pastor or imam or even learn how to resist religion and become an atheist. I'm sure I'd find it easy to pay back my loan if my study turns me into Oyakhilome or Adeboye or Richard Dawkins and my parents would be very pleased with me when I use my pay to buy them a bigger house. |
Lyrics269:Everyone is not guilty of this, please. I supported Obi as I could not condone the continuation of APC rule despite my support for Buhari for claiming Nigerian youths are lazy, which I agree with. I knew Buhari will make Nigeria a tough and hard place for the lazy, but a continuation of APC rule meant he would not be probed for corruption, which I also wanted and think Nigeria needs. Now I have to wait for Tinubu's reign to end and hope a different party takes over. Thankfully, I am patient, having been waiting since Ironsi.

Ebubu2:He should throwaway salary subsidy too by scrapping NYSC so employers pay the going wages. |
blaise26abj:He very will. Along with the doctors and teachers which require university degrees, UK is suffering from a deficiency in handy people and even farm workers. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coming-to-the-uk-for-seasonal-agricultural-work-on-english-farms

Lyrics269:Ignorance, I suppose. I can just imagine the hatred if Obi had won. Some here would have just kukuma given the Ibos Biafra quick time instead of accepting him as their president. |
Skyview01:Very high up indeed, unfortunately. But I agree with Obi who said "university education cost money", or something similar. |
blaise26abj:Mechanic, after years of apprenticeship, came to UK and has now bought the garage that serviced my car. Outside, he parks his 2024 Porsche Cayenne, while I'm asking for discount to service my ...... |
blaise26abj:If you ask them, they will say socialism is devil worship, but they don't mind free everything, lol. |
You should be delighted "It Means Many Will Not Attend University" then since you already believe university is a scam. Those who don't think like you do will take the loan and go to university and have fewer people like you to contest for jobs with. It's after all not likely you'd be applying for the job in doctoring or lawyering etc that those who don't think they've been scammed apply for. |
Asswipemod:My response was not for those willing to pay back in small or big installments but to someone who thinks he would not pay back a kobo, for whom I think the "draconian wahala like you're painting it" is no where near as much as the real draconian wahala they will face. Tinubu, whom some say is a jaguda, can not be so simply outsmarted by such people is what I think, and it would not surprise me if the student loan company is not part owned by him who would like to make a profit or at least not lose his initial investment. But if you think I am wrong, please, 5-10 years time will soon come when we can reassess how it's gone. |
phorget:"Good care", she said, and not just any care. It's like buying and feeding a slave that wants to work only when it wants to, lol. And trust me, I am uber extremely pro-feminism.

First, I am not against abortion, my mantra being, my body my choice, but aborting without your consent is indicative of other things she's likely to do in the future despite your lack of consent, and that's beside you already being "fed up with her with her recent disrespect and the way she talks to me anyhow even in public". Think of it this way. Imagine the "car I want to register with bolt/uber to still bring in funds in my free time" decides to break down whenever you carry passengers and disrespects you anyhow in public, would you keep it instead of getting rid of it and buying a car that does what you want and respects you? The answer might be yes if you are broke and can't buy a new and better car or somehow don't deserve one, but if you can I'm certain you'd do what you ought to. |
I think he thinks he's paying you enough for you to not communicate with other guys. If he's not, then either charge him more than the "pay my bills and take Good care of me" so you don't have to communicate with other guys or give him a reduction so you get some of your freedom back and can communicate with whomever you want, because you both can't be wanting to eat your cake and be having it at the same time. |
Was there not a Yoruba man who was leader of Nigeria twice and for a total of 11 years? What makes you think that history could not repeat itself? |
ManWater:You will find they'll find a way of making you pay it back long after you stop being a student since Tinubu nor the loan givers are not into the sort of charity you are thinking of. Even the part about interest free will turn out to be untrue as you'd find that the fees that cost so much now will more than double or triple to compensate so you end up owing lots. You can japa afterwards of course, making it harder for them to make you pay, but I wouldn't be surprised if the loan is tied to your passport so you can't get one if you owe, or to your parents who'll have to pay it back if you don't. They can also make it a requirement of future employment like they do with NYSC, such that if you don't serve or don't pay back your loan you are disqualified for employment. We shall find out in the future of course, so I'll make a note of this thread in my diary for 5 and 10 years time to reassess how it's gone. Next thing he has to do is scrap NYSC so I can earn what I deserve instead of subsidising my employer by making my labour cheap for them while getting the skills and knowledge gets more expensive for me. |
Tayorshd87:Of course they keep sending, and of course they keep sending until your fear of miss opportunity makes you respond. Their hope is that you are gullible enough to fall for their trick, and I am curious to find out if you aren't and what it costs you in the end, or if you are smart enough to block their nonsense and save yourself some grief. |
Why should we bother helping you identify what you already know? Have you got skills worth 30000-80000 per day? Go on, click on the links. I'm very certain I'm not the only one waiting to hear how you are parted from what you already got just because you wanted to believe what you know is not true. Tayorshd87: |
Theempath:No point sending me email. The link I posted listed the causes of that error. Which one applies to you? |
Democracy is better than military rule as it gives us the people the powers to change who rules, which is not the case with military rule, and which makes democratic rulers accountable to the electorate. As for the "hope of Nigeria under democracy", that depends on what the voters want. |
Did you fix it? |
HappyPagan:This sounds more like if you leave a cult or if the judgement of others mattered to you, which kind of makes me wonder if those you left behind were your gods or if on your leaving you were asking them to leave with you. I'm going to a funeral on Tuesday. A very nice member of a church I once went to died and I am going to pay my respects. It's Church of England where atheists and gay people can be priests so I guess it might not be the sort of church you left. I was an atheist before I started going there, and stayed because we were feeding the poor and teaching the local non-indigenes who were mostly Muslims to speak and write English. And yes, some of us did resist the attempts of others to shove belief down their throats in disguise. Feeding the poor was 'Jesus' enough for most of us. Experiences differ, is my point. |
Nairalander248:Schooling me about some juvenile's obsession? Thanks, I guess. |
And you didn't take time to type this? Nairalander248: |
benalvino3:Hope you are ok. I was concerned not hearing you. |
obontami:It's disturbing that we are producing these sort of kids, though with what their parents have turned the country into, I can't say I didn't expect it. These kids will have kids that are going to be worse than them. They'll make Nigeria so much worse, then hopefully they'll die of ignorance and those left over will reeducate themselves, or their great grandchildren might. I promise, Nigeria will then improve, in about 2099. budaatum: |
LordReed:I been good. Sun's out so even better. You? |
LordReed:Forgive me not saying greetings my Lord. You on my mind and in my heart always. |
I can not bother to waste my time repeating myself so here's the link instead. https://www.nairaland.com/7722907/state-nation-muslim-muslim-muslim#123708342 |
nairalanda1:You can say the same thing about teachers too. They too cost money, and not paying them means they too will japa, and unfortunately can't be replaced by witch doctors. But I guess we all can all go learn to believe in church and mosques. Sadly, we'd be left solving our problems with prayers and fasting instead of getting off our asses and solving our problems with our brains and minds. But hey! There are gods o, I am told. Or we can pay the tax and invest in our nation instead of in our thieving politicians. https://allafrica.com/stories/202212190063.html

Steep:Exception does imply non-universality though. You just need to watch out for black swans. |
