http://perezhilton.com/category/beyonce This is definitely not how that money should have been used! Unfortunately, it looks like pretty damn important funds were misused in Nigeria back in 2006 under the watch of then-Governor Goodluck Jonathan. So not okay!! Beyoncé and Jay-Z were brought to Nigeria for the very first ThisDay Music Festival in Lagos, but the way they were paid is now under scrutiny. It has been discovered that Bayelsa officials approved for about $1 million dollars to be taken from the local poverty alleviation funds in order to financially support the festival. It is unknown how much was exactly paid to performers at the event, and it is believed that they were not aware of where the money was coming from. We certainly doubt Bey and Jay would take such money if they knew the deets! At the festival, Beyoncé performed a rendition of the Nigerian national anthem. Considering 47% of Bayelsans live in poverty, we're pretty sure there were better ways to spend that money… …no matter how awesome Beyoncé is. |

The sale of Nigeria to some developed nation |
Yenagoa – President Goodluck Jonathan has stressed the need for attitudinal change among Nigerians for things to work and the country make progress. Jonathan, who made the remark in Yenagoa on Saturday during the burial of the former National Security Adviser, Gen. Oweye Azazi, said that corruption was not the only challenge to good governance. Jonathan made the statement in reaction to a remark made by the Rt. Rev. Hyacinth Egbebo, the Catholic Bishop of Bomadi. The clergyman had attributed the cause of accidents on Nigerian roads to bad roads created by corruption in government. The president said, “If Nigerians would change their attitude, you will realise that most of these issues being attributed to corruption are not caused by corruption. “Recently, I met with officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps who told me that they had discovered that majority of the road accidents are recorded on good roads. “So you can see it is not a matter of corruption, it is an issue of the people’s attitude.’’ |
There have been and continue to be very horrific stories that befall women. Today it has become all to common place to read a paper, browse the web or watch the news and listen to all sort of horrific incidents. The high profile cases so far have been the attack on Malala whose only sin was advocating for education for other girls. The heartbreaking case of the Indian lady who recently died- the sin she commited she dared to go see a movie with a male friend. On her way back home not only was she repeatedly raped. She had a rod inserted into her and she died of her injuries. Another rape case again in India where the victim commited suicide because of the lag in the investigation and pressure from the police to recant her story. It is all so easy to say that yes this are crimes that occur in developing worlds. Inderjit Kaur, Tuba Tabussum ,Sonali Marhakhjee and unfortunately the list goes on and on. However there quite a few places as well. There is the case of Katie Piper whose ex boyfriend sought out someone to douse her face with sulphuric acid, Patricia Lefranc, Kassandra Perkins and the list goes on. If its not murder, its either emotional, sexual or physical abuse in relationships and in marriage. What is it that makes some men feel that women are second hand citizens? objects to be bought and sold? that the life of a woman is worth absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things? what spurs on the blame culture when it comes to violent incidents? The first justification sadly is religion. Many are quick to pick and choose certain parts of thier religious books in isolation to justify thier acts. A few christians would be quick to point out to you that women ought to be submissive. Indicating women are slightly inferior. Yet they fail to take cognizance of the fact that men are to love thier wives as themselves. That to me suggests that in a Christian marriage the husband is given the role as head of the household and the wife is expected to submit to the husband’s leadership. However, she is his equal in terms of social status; she is not inferior to him. A few muslims are quick to state that clearly in Islamic marriages the husband is the head and manager of his wife. Women ought to be subersevient and managed. Women lack self control and as the man pays a womans dowry he has acquires the rights to her and has control over her regulation. Again an indication that women are slightly inferior. However they convineintly forget that Mohammed urged his followers to treat their women and wives well. Recently a clown of a priest Piero Costi had the following gems of intellect to share women should engage in "healthy self criticism" over the issue of femicide, or men murdering women. women shared the blame for "provoking the worst instincts, which then turn into violence and sexual abuse". "The core of the problem is in the fact that women are more and more provocative, they yield to arrogance, they believe they can do everything themselves and they end up exacerbating tensions," "How often do we see girls and even mature women walking on the streets in provocative and tight clothing?" "Babies left to themselves, dirty houses, cold meals and fast food at home, soiled clothes. So if a family ends up in a mess and turns into crime (a form of violence which should be condemned and punished firmly) often the responsibility is shared Another problematic issue is that of culture. People are so steeped in their cultural ways that they view any transformation or movement in any direction as a threat. I see many threads or topics put on today about how african men are bemoaning the females of today. How dare they not know how to cook? after all gender roles are better than being a good individual. How dare they speak thier minds? its this kind of copying the westerners attitudes that is leading to demise of long lasting marriages. How dare they spend so much time on Net and other social ills?? We have all been subject to the mind numbing stupid comments such as pregnancy from rape was "something that God intended" by the lovely U Richard Mourdock and of course who can forget the Todd Adkin with his view that women’s bodies have ways of avoiding pregnancy in cases of what he called “legitimate rape”. The Chief of Police in Thane suggested that women should carry chilli and avoid going out at night to avoid rape. The most troubling of all is the attitude of other women. Many are quick to jump on the blame game and attribute the form of abuse whether emotional, physical or sexual to the behavior of the victim. Have we become so blinded to our worth as a collective that we are willing to allow the reigning abuse patriachal order to stand?? Have we become some brainwashed to blatant sexism that we now characterize it as tradition and culture? Why is it that women are so quick to blame other women instead of standing together and insisting that men be punished and insist on a new wave of re-education? In cases of marital abuse, women are counselled to get back for the sake of the family and the most appalling to me is the stigma of divorce. The oft quoted saying is God hates divorce. My question is, is divorce a higher elevated sin? it seems absurd that you would be sending someone into harms way because of your legalistic reading of the bible. Yup God may hate divorce but im pretty sure he hates murder too (which sadly all to often happens when the women does go back). How many more shattered families are you willing to have around? Children absolute destroyed because thier father killed their mother? We honestly all need to take a step back before we engage in the victim blaming game, understand that there should be equality between men and women despite what we have always been taught in our cultural and traditional backgrounds. Just because you dont agree with the way someone else chooses to live thier lives or the choices that they make does not make it ok for you to impose your point of view on them. Its time we started re-educating our brothers, uncles, nephews and male counterparts that violence against women is not OK, that a woman is not an object that can be bought and discarded. Importantly that culture is a flexible, evolving thing. What occured in the time of our parents is not necessarily the best way to go about doing things. One is supposed to learn lessons from the past and adjust accordingly. They need to be taught that gender roles are becoming blurred and there is nothing wrong with that. When it comes to the abuse of other women in other ways shape or form, we really ought to rise up and act as a collective support unit. Above all, it is time to rise up against erroneous "Religious" yes in quotation mark religious fanaticism that borders on misogyny. |
This man is a an absolute slowpoke.. to make things worse there are actually sycophants that will cue themselves up to accept the nonsense that he spews. ANywhere wlse in the world this would be absolutely unacceptable.. |
So what I gather is that the only point so far is to "gain experience of other cultures"- cute but ultimately worthless financially and patriotism- again cute but at the expense of ones health and safety. I also heard that there was a decree and most corpers are working now as teachers.. which if true is absolutely pointless as if you trained in anything but teachers college it is a disservice to the youth you are teaching. Also heard that firms/govt arent retaining people anymore also there is a lag in the payment of renumeration |
"the CPC will definitely be blind to steady progress critical infrastructure such as power, road and rail transport, security, agriculture, education, because constructive engagement is not the ultimatemotivation of its criticism.” The clown that wrote this statement must be a couple of french fries short of a happy meal.. are they trying to say that the average nigerian is enjoying this amenities now.. the errant stupidity of some statements absolutely confounds me |
What useless leaders!! we leave him for God.. daily this country turns into even more of a hell hole... |
not the fact that our nation is in tatters.. that the infrastructure resembles that of a 4th world country the hospital equipment is from the dark ages the education is going to hell in a hand basket our leaders are stealing us blind fuel subsidy fiasco corruption life is worth nothing but hey of course a married woman drinking is a 100% worse than all these #misplacedpriorities #wearefucked |
Lets face it rich people are accustomed to a certain lifestyle that the poorer people are not used to You cant expect someone who is used to worldwide travels and caviar to switch to travel within nigeria and garri The quality of schooling and just exposure to the world would be different on both parts The saying goes iron sharpens iron.... however there are relationships ordained by God and class wont matter... but for the most part... there will always be that conflict.. and especially with men from our culture... better off women... RUN... they will for the most part always have a problem.. with you. under the guise that your are not "submissive" aka they are insecure... better off men... Women.. RUN.... they will always say they brought you to the point that you are and will always lord it over your heads.. In conclusion, stick to your class unless of course you know that it is ordained by God |
Violence against women in Nigeria is seen as somewhat acceptable... Police officials that turn a blind eye and the culture of acceptance as well It is not an issue of yoruba, igbo or hausa or whatever.. the issue is the overall acceptance let people learn.. go to other places in the world and think the women and the authorities have a lackluster approach against violence and crime.. you will end in jail so fast your damn head will spin. |
Its funny... Nigeria is a country where people drive young women to marry... at the young age of 23 some people will still be giving you the side eye Extended family making silly comments and pointing out other peoples marriages and making some girls feel like they have failed solely because they havent acquired the title of Mrs. Fastfoward into marriage which is a stressful situation- people who are together merely because society dictates she is getting older and ought to settle clearly dont have the love or commitment to work things out in a loving manner... This is also a country that is so male centric it has reached the point of stupidity. A husband cheating on you.. elders, every dick and harry.. saying oh NO THATS AGAINST BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES.. yet if they used the simple brain that God has given them and eyes to see,, open your bible... Even in the Bible there was divorce. In the OT, only men were able to divorce their wives (Deut. 24:1-4). In the NT, women were also apparently able to initiate divorce (Mark 10:12; 1 Cor. 7:13). "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery," (Matt. 19:9). "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of the water by the word "religious cowards and regurgitators" keep claiming that God hates divorce over their faulty reading of Malachi 2:6 take into consideration jeremiah 3:8- God divorced his own people The issue is not divorce but the breaking of the covenant- For a man to abusive his wife and for others to condone that.. Pray for Gods forgiveness because you have caused a great injustice "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of the water by the word That He might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish". So as should a man exercise care not to inflict blemishes and bruises on a beloved wife. Men are to love their wives, cleansing and pampering the female just as they would care for their own bodies Those who have ears... But then again with a culture that is permissive of cheating- which is ungodly by the way archaic laws dismissive police officers.. the fate of women rights.... sigh |
Guitarlife: Don't you get it? She stood before God and man and made a convenant .She swore that she was gonna stand by a man 'in plenty and in want, in sickness and in health till death did them part' . What kind of woman makes a meal of such words.DIE? Are you insane.. i hope and pray for women everywhere that your kind is a dying breed. and we wonder why the country is in the state that it is. ignorance, callousness and backwardness |
Take him to court and sue in civil court Report him to the police and let them deal with it as a criminal matter |
salolo: Women needs to remain where God place them, Eph 5 :22, to be submissive, by doing this they will not create any ordeal for themselvesGod help us all |
Thanks for the responses.. 12 kids? lol are you sure its not a dog you want to marry.. I know that was rather cheeky ![]() |
It seems to me that there is a bit of backlash if a woman decides or in tandem with her husband decide that they want just one child. Is this an issue that is coloured by cultural notions? Looking forward to hearing some feedback. Thanks |
Stupidity in this country in the name of "religion" and "tribal sycophancy" needs to stop. |
ileobatojo: 17) Always remember he is not in control of himself and he has no need to be. Whether he does the right thing by you is unimportant. Just continue to practice advice 1-16. One day, he will love you and cherish you forever.bahahah your too much lol |
chaircover: its good that these ladies dont have babies o! They will most probably be only kids anyway and we all know that it will be 24 nanny care for the poor kids.So you feel that there is a problem with having only one child? I hear this alot.. what reasons? or is it just a cultural thing? #trulycurious# |
Frankly I agree with her to an extent. If you cant handle motherhood dont get onboard because according to others in society your life is incomplete. Forcing this belief of having children being the norm is the reason Nigeria has an overpopulation and poverty issue. Lets face it having kids wont allow you reach your full potential. Once you have kids the automatic focus is on them and what they need to be sucessful. Yes you can be too intelligent to have children if you cant handle them |
hahaha i think 1-3 are the only fair ones.. the rest are a tad evil lol |
pleep: Im agressive because i hate people like you, and i never will stop. I made a perfectly reasonable comment and three manginas have called me insecure or a chauvanist so far.Gutter talk and ignorant mindsets |
