PERMISSIONS


Your permissions are improperly configured. I am not familiar with the biz server. But, once you get that error it means your permissions are wrong.

So think of some way to configure permissions properly

you need to give more information about your problem

1. Which email service are you using?
2. Which browser are you using and version of the browser?
3. Which operating system are you using? (could be useful)
4. What is the size of the file you are attaching?
5. Which type of connection are you using?

The more information you give, the more chance you have with people assisting you

Mysql Query Browser (use this for reinstalling your database, sql statement executions, and deleting databse)
Mysql Administrator     (for backup and other administrative tasks on mysql, you dont need access to the admin of smf)

If your host allows for remote log in great

put in your database name
database password
and usename


Use the Mysql Administrator to backup

They are not the same. the second hyperlink is wrong. You are missing the /board/  subdirectory in your url somewhere.

You need to go into the control panel and look for something under the url to your forum and set it up to

http://naijareign.com/board/

I cant remember all the specific control panel options in smf or where to look in smf. This is the best i can give you. That is the problem and the solution is to add  /board/ in the url link somewhere

True about the testing on tools during interviews. I have had interviews for programming position that required i wrote process flow for a program. It wasnt even about writing a program, just show us your logic behind your program and explain why this is that.

While other companies require you to write programs using computers or on whiteboards. If you know you are a developer, and you know what you can do, you have nothing to worry about. Have a field day using a template but once given a project to do something from scratch, he or she should be able to do it.

I have thought about going to photography school. It is something that I am planning for.

Sometimes you get great pictures, like the kids looking out from the car. and sometimes you get horrible pictures. I might have taken over 20 000 pictures but maybe only 2000 ok. lol

It is a nice hobby though expensive hobby.

I use a Sony Alpha A350 + 70 - 300mm zoom lens + 18 - 70 lens + flash

Nothing much to my collection of gear yet hopefully go pro someday. Expensive.

Dealing with pictures that is why

Stealing names when people are searching unfortunately happens.

I tried to target max 6 characters in the domain name. But now seems like to find something decent one has to add more characters up to 10.

Keep searching hope to find something.

I am now thinking about names in other languages. i tried nigeria in chinese. niriliya.com already take aarghhhhhhhhhhhhhh FML.

You have jquery for example, it has functions, you use the functions in your web app. You can modify, adding and removing functions or use as is. Or you download already made modules for gallery, lightbox etc

You have a website you are building, there is a library of templates, you pick one and you use it. You can modify, by adding new things, removing or just use as is

What am I missing?

It all boils down to how much time you have to work or individual prefernce.
It is just that some people that use downloaded templates for clients may not be telling the clients.

i am not sure which picture you are referring to but I have a zoom lense, the second picture. Very powerful and goes a long distance. I can become a spy eheh. Sometimes I move up close to people, they have not told me not to take their pictures so far or ask for their permission.

The people that designed the templates are people just like us. Some people are more creative than others.

It is not every time you will have great concept to design. Probably you may have to look at other websites for inspiration. Just like some writers get writer's block. Similar.

You may be familiar with CSS Galleries. Collections of nice website design. If you go through one of the sites like. look at http://www.csselite.com/

If you can tell me you can come up with all those design ideas by yourself without looking at sample works. Good for you. This is just my opinion.

This is not a matter of being good or bad. The truth is, regardless of what we do, there will always be people better than each of us. There will be always be people more creative than each of us. That is life.

Using templates downloaded is perfectly fine. Nothing wrong in my opinion.

However, what quite a large number of people do is remove the information about the person that created the template. Be it as commented information in the header.ext, footer.ext or other file like that, as page footer notes that everyone can see. It is proper to give credit to the maker of the template.

There are bazillions  of templates free online. If the template that was used is not a popular template, how can the owner of the site go about searching online if the developer downloaded the template or created the template. I guess this is why some people that download and use template dont say anything that it was a downloaded template and they can charge as much as they want for little work done.

Assuming I use templates I download for web dev works, and you feel I am not a developer.
Would it be correct if I say, people that use javascript framework jquery, php framework etc for their works are not programmers? They can also write from scratch all the functions they need before they can be called programmers.

But in regards to the lady in your original post, personally speaking based on the little information you provided, she is absolutely not a web developer. In my opinion, I would say, if you ask a real web developer this type of question, and they say it is ok to use downloaded templates and he/she is a developer. This would be because the developer you asked knows his/her ability and is not worried about what you think of him/her.

It is an easy way out of putting pages together.
Downloading templates can potentially present a more appealing look for a website than what would be created from scratch.
Reduces time need to get more work done = more cash in hand.

Like now my boss asked me to find a company to build our website, i was like no need I will do it myself. He was like sure, easy thing no sweat. And he said ok.

For the past two hours, I have been searching for domain names that I can buy. Most likely looking for two domain names. Relating to media.

I have searched, different name combination, numbers, web2.0ish style names like flickr, things like that but nothing to be found. I cant remember where I saw this line but it goes something like this

Unfortunately, there is no option but to continue searching until I find a decent one. I have looked at sedo.com snapnames.com just soooooooooooooo friggin expensive. OH MY

The reality is, domain names will become expensive if they are being resold like sedo

if you use hits, that doesnt translate into download. It can be stuck in traffic, some people may stop, or something weird just happens.

It is easier to just count the hits and forget about misses or incomplete downloads.

I think too much. But your visitors wont know whether is true or not so hits may work.

This in my opinion is actually not a recommended implementation.

If you do this, first come first serve. You may probably just want to take into account IP address as yawatide mentioned. Count how many times they accessed and no need to penalize others.

IP address is not even perfect but works for most people that are not aware of proxies.

.swf can be decompiled as earlier mentioned. it is a waste of time. If you are talking about text in your .swf or on your website. The best solution is not to put what you dont want people to see on your site. If they can see the text, what is stopping them from typing it? Though it may take some time to type, but they got your text. It might even be faster typing the text from the flash file than decompiling the flash file.

If you mask/embed the .swf file, that is you put a layer or a container or a fake flash that contains the flash file. So that when people download they download the container not the flash file. Well, with tools like firebug, flashgot, they can be downloaded. So my advice is dont put what you dont want people to see and dont waste time protecting text you dont want copying. If you are talking about encrypting your page codes, you can look into obfuscation:

Sometimes checking code = just one line of text in the code view. and I think it is part of the obfuscation. It is possible to protect code. which may then be referencing some other pages in some jibberish combination of hex
